I am updating my review because we had an extraordinary experience. Morgan, one of the young ladies who works there, was absolutely amazing. She took care of us with exceptional customer service, and her communication was above board.If you want to support a local business, want solid work and dont want to be gouged on prices, go to R&T.

Hands down the best place to have your car serviced in Portage/Kalamazoo area. We have been using R&T for some time now. No matter the scope of what is being done from tire rotation, oil change or a major repair, it has been an excellent experience. Very quick and efficient and priced better than the competitors. R&T Auto Repair has been family owned for decades and that sets them apart from the big conglomerates. They truly epitomize what great customer service should look like. Angie, most recently took care of me and was extremely courteous, professional and communicated with me every step of the way. An added bonus was we got our vehicle back 2 days before it was promised!! I just can t say enough on how happy we have been with this shop! Absolutely top notch. Awesome shop! They are fast, kind, and cheap. I just got my oil changed with DEXOS synthetic oil + a new oil filter and it only cost me $46. Best shop around.

Don t take your vehicle to R & T Auto Repair 1903 W Osterhout, Portage Mi straight up slimy, grimy, slippery snake.. I busted him (so-called technician ) in a straight up lie All I needed was a serpentine belt put on, there must be a reason why the old one broke, explained the technician , yes, I said it was old and worn out No, they just don t break On their own something must ve caused it Not knowing when I had The Chevy dealer change the water pump, They explained to me that the serpentine belt was old, and could break at any time. I didn t have them do the work because it was too expensive. The water pump, however, was covered by warranty.. and it needed to be changed Because we had no heat So the shady technician told me when the belt tensioner broke it spun the bearing on the water pump!! All in all we were gonna need a new belt, tensioner, a new belt, and a new water pump $1100 in work!!Called and got my wife all upset. So she sent me down to R&T To look at the water pump. When I got there, there was nothing wrong with the water pump. I could spin it freely with my hand !!!?? and the belt tensioner looked fine!!.. I knew something was shady from then on. He did not look at my vehicle, he did not put my vehicle on a diagnostics machine. He popped the hood and made an assumption and was going to charge me for some work that I didn t even need..!! .Then, when I asked him to put the serpentine belt on (Which was the problem) I was told to take the vehicle and leave.. With extreme attitude !! lol .. they were embarrassed, because I caught him in a lie.. I caught him off guard when I went there, And we believe very strongly that we were Being scammed at that time (very unprofessional ) these people are teaching Morgan whom is the little princess at the front counter how to be a scam artist.. and take advantage of people for the money no doubt my mind, the owners have trained her, all this was going on while they hid in the back along with the so-called technician, (cowards ) not showing their faces goes to show what can be a crooked world we live in, where did the honesty go? .. To be quite frank honesty it s been gone for years. So this is just a friendly reminder. Be careful out there I have this all on video

told them previous to bringing it in that my car had no cat. made appt anyway. once they already had it lifted and scanned they told me they cant "diagnose" without having the cat. wanted me to replace the WHOLE exhaust even tho the rest of the piping and muffler were BRAND NEW. wanted 1500 for installation of new exhaust. which was not needed.in the end had to pay money for zero information reguarding the actual problem.

I recently had my 2016 Volvo S60 serviced at this auto repair shop. The check engine light was on and the car was sputtering on startup, especially in the morning. After a diagnostic that cost almost $100, they diagnosed the issue as a faulty fuel pressure sensor and quoted me almost $700 for the repair.Feeling unsure about the price and wanting to try fixing it myself, I bought the part for only $45 and managed to fix it in about 20 minutes with little mechanical experience. I later found out that the part they would have ordered could have cost up to $300, which suggests a markup of at least $200 for the labor.While the front desk was friendly, I can't help but feel that I may have been taken advantage of. As a result, I can only give this place a 3-star rating. I appreciate the work they did, but I would suggest getting a second opinion or doing your own research before agreeing to any repairs.

Just recently took my car to R&T to fix my brakes and they did an awesome job! Everyone is very nice and friendly at this shop and the prices for parts and labor are very fair.They kept me updated throughout the time my car was there and let me know of any delays/hold ups with getting new parts.I will definitely be taking my car back for future repairs and maintenance.Services: Auto brake repair, Tire rotations, Auto brake replacement

I had some trouble with my car leaking transmission fluid and really couldn t wait. I called a few other garages and they all said they couldn t get me in for a week or two. Finally I found R&T and they got me in right away. I left my car the night before and they called me pretty quickly the next morning and gave me details of what needed to be done as well as their fair pricing for the service and got my car done in the afternoon. The staff was very warm and friendly and communicated so well with me and the work was done fast and properly. I felt like a priority. I will definitely be bringing my car here again when it needs work. Highly recommended.

These guys are AMAZING! I was in town visiting my family and they got me in, and everything done, in just a few days. They worked with my warranty company and made sure I got the best deal possible. They kept me in the loop as they went, and I always felt like I was the one making decisions. Super friendly staff and a great value! I couldn't recommend them more!

I always get my oil changed here. I trust them to tell me when something is wrong, and what it takes to fix it. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and I wouldn't go anywhere else!

R&T is a great shop. We have taken both our higher-mileage vehicles here for over 3 years now and have no complaints. Their prices are VERY reasonable especially compared to car dealerships' service departments. And, there have been several occasions in which their mechanics have gone "above and beyond" in helping us to get our vehicles out the door and back on the road so that we can keep other commitments. Call early for your appointment, though, because they are always busy!

My key fob stopped working. Called and asked if they could help me as I couldn't take it apart to change the battery. Of course they said bring it in. They changed it out for me and didn't even charge me! Very nice gentleman that helped me. Thank you!

Not the place to go for low-income drivers or an old car/beater, even if nearby. I did not have any work done except the mandatory diagnostic and so ended up paying the full hefty diagnostic fee. Service costs would've been VERY high and I was told they would be unable to flush the brakes with the current calipers (which the pads are worn but a different auto shop had no problems flushing less than a week prior after replacing a different brake line). Also, if you decide not to get service make arrangements to have the vehicle moved IMMEDIATELY. I had arrangements for the following morning but they would not relinquish my keys until pickup "In case they had to move it" yet when I asked they would not store the keys safely within the premises, they just left them in the vehicle whenever they got it off the hoist. My wife had two oil changes done at R&T without issue but we both decided we'll be going elsewhere from now on.

I ve brought company vehicles and personal vehicles here. Never again will I use this mechanic. My company vehicles would come back from R&T in worse shape then when they arrived. I even had a van stall in traffic after picking it up. Do not give this place your business. IT MAY BE YOUR LIFE

They really did a great job for me, a front brake had all but locked up and they were able to get my jeep rightaway to repair it. They also did a tune up on my jeep several weeks ago.Service: Auto brake repairService: Auto brake repair

This is my mechanic. They are the best. I love that they get me in as soon as possible and guarantee the work. The receptionists are impeccably organized and I know exactly where I stand. Sean is the mechanic who has serviced my car the most. Great place to do business!

My experience was poor, I brought in my older jeep, yes it has a lot of miles but worth keeping for an extra vehicle , I said I think it's the transmission, was told no it's only the pan that is rusted and it needs replaced, a few hundred dollars later, and a week +/- of driving the transmission goes out. I brought it back and was told they would not apply $399.00 I paid a week earlier (for a new pan), towards a new transmission, I was told it worked when I drove it off. So, I took it elsewhere only to be called and told that they found a bolt rolling around in the new pan. hmm...not good, I would not recommend them
