I scheduled an appointment because my front turn signal worked sometimes. When I spoke with the man on the phone he said it would cost $60 or more depending on the extent it would take to find the problem. I checked in today and waited 2 hours to find out the the bulb is fine. I said no it isn t. I went outside turned the car on and the bulb was not working. They called the young man in and he said I thought it was the headlight. Mo took my car back inside to replace the bulb which I explained to the scheduler I have already done and it was not the solution. Mo came out to tell me the bulb was not burned out and I d have to schedule and leave the car for a couple hours to find the problem. I like Mo. He was not the person who was initially working on my car. He just happened to hear me and took it back to check the bulb. Was it because I am a woman they did not listen to me?? My husband died 10 months ago. He has brought both of our vehicles to this location before and really liked Mo. I know he is rolling in his grave now madder than heck that his wife was treated this way!

Appointment at 8am and Technician shows up at 8:30! 1/2 hour late. Was there an hour before even one lug nut was removed. 2 Hours to change 4 tires! Only reason they got 2 stars was the $50 discount they gave me for my extra hour wait. Tires were nice once I finally got out of there.

Employees tried to overcharge me to have brakes done on my Subaru. Initially it was going to be 250 for all 4 brakes. Then was told that I needed all 4 rotors replaced. They quoted me almost $1,300 to have the brakes plus rotors done. The rear rotors did not need to be replaced. I did not have them perform the job, I bought the parts myself all premium parts and spent $300. I have done my brakes many times just didn t have much time this week. I made time to do them after PEPboys tried to scam me. STAY AWAY from this business!

I made an appointment for an oil change. I scheduled it for 8a (Saturday) at the Portage, MI location. Due to staffing issues, there were not enough mechanics to complete the multiple appointments. After about 30 minutes, the manager informed us that we would not get our cars worked on and offered to reschedule. I ended up dropping the car off later Saturday and picking up on Sunday. The manager comped my full synthetic oil change. He initially promised a 50% discount since the other customers and I were so accommodating. I was surprised and thrilled when he did not charge for the service. Pep Boys in Portage rocks. I have been using them for years, due to their good service, competitive prices and fantastic hours. They treat their customers well! Thank you!

These guys were quick, kind, and professional. They diagnosed the problem and had me back on the road in an hour with a part ordered and an appointment to put it on the next day. When I heard a concerning sound related to the repair, they got me in quickly and checked it out. Ryan, Fred, and all the other guys here were great!

Do not go here! I went to have my car worked on, they sent me home with my car body skid plate partially attached and under engine skid plate completely missing. After hearing the metal and plastic grinding on the highway once I picked up speed I was forced to get out on the side of the dark highway to see what was wrong, I noticed a part under the car body was hanging to the ground and the bottom of my engine was completely exposed, no cover at all. When I immediately went back to have the part correctly put into place, I was met with little to no care that they had let me drive off with unsecured parts. I was thinking my under engine skid plate had to of been torn across the highway, it was only after returning because car body skid plate dragging that I was given the under engine skid plate, they took it off and did not return it to me, without telling me. If I had not gone back I would still be driving on winter roads without it. I was then told they didn t have the parts to secure it. If I would not have had to turn around due to their neglect I would have never known under my engine was exposed and driven until my next oils change in mid January. Costumer service is useless as well. Only go here if you have time and money to waste.

I found the tires and set up the appointment by myself online, that was all good and fairly easy. I showed up for appt and was informed they were running a bit behind, but should have me out within 1 1/2 hrs, I had to wait at shop for service to be completed cause that's how it worked out for me. The 1 1/2 hrs max wait turned into 2 1/2 hrs and the guy at desk seemed to care less, I had to inquire about my car and he gave me a bad finish time, told me about 30 minutes still when it actually was almost another hour before my car was done.The tires seem good, only been driving on them for a few days, and seem to be mounted well. So that's good. The time management was horrible, questionable if I'd ever go back.

Made an appointment for tire installation, and when I arrived on time, the service tech stated that they don't take into account online purchases, and I would have to leave the vehicle for a 2 hour wait. I had to drive 45 minutes just to get there. I canceled my order and asked for a number to call for customer support. When I was leaving the service technician got lippy. I will NOT be back and can not recommend this place for anything. Buying my tires from a competitor with a good customer service

I've gotten my oil changed here since 2019. The staff is always pleasant and doesn't talk to you like you're a fool. Currently, my car has a slow oil leak, and they're trying to find it. They seem to do all they can for me with every visit.

I have never been so disappointed in an experience. I scheduled an appointment for an alignment online for 5pm about 2 days ago called the morning of to confirm pricing and they said they needed me there an hour earlier because the alignment would take 2hrs (huh? if that s the case why have available appointments at 5?) Well I rearranged my day accordingly and brought my car in at 4 anyways. Upon pick up when I was paying they informed me they don t accept cash. There were no signs stating this, they didn t tell me at drop off, or when I called to ask about cost. I didn t have enough on my card and neither did my boyfriend so we had to call around for help from friends and family because they closed at 6 and took 2 hours to do my alignment. We will not be returning.

Please save your money and go elsewhere. They made me replace my alternator for over $700 dollars, and when I left, my car was still dead and had to get jumped. They continuously told me it was not my battery so that they could rob me about of my money. One of the worst experiences I have ever had; horrible customer service and lack of care for your vehicle.

Made an appointment for 12pm to have my tires rotated. Took 20 minutes for anyone to speak to me. When I finally got to the counter I was told they will get to it as soon as possible. I asked how long will that be? 2 hours! To take 4 tires off and put them back on? Yup, then I was told the website does not take into account the work needed to be done or if they re fully staffed. (I ve never seen them fully staffed, it s their go to excuse) No more pep boys for me. It s where I bought the tires. I m going to Discount, doesn t matter that I didn t buy from them. I ve bought every tire for every vehicle from Discount, my mistake trying to save a few $. Pep Boys does not deserve me as a customer.

Arrived for my 9:00 appointment, front desk clerk told me they were understaffed. I said no worries, I don t mind waiting. It is now 10:50, I am still sitting here, and the first update I have received is that they don t even have the tires. Could someone have told me this two hours ago? Still waiting to get my car back that was never even serviced.Update: didn t get my car back until 30 mins later, and there s no air in the tires. Truly ridiculous.

Prices have doubled, took nearly 3.5 hours for a simple oil change, and store personnel not friendly or attentive. Have been using Pep Boys for ever 10 years, will no longer go there.

As always, great service from the auto shop. I've been a customer several years and never disappointed. They're normally fast to get you in for service and take care of your vehicle. I've had other shops try to take advantage of me because they thought I would not be knowledgeable, but it's never happened here. Thanks Pep Boys!

Horrible experience!!! Dont go to pepboys!! Had an appt set for friday at 10am they had my truck for two days just putting tires on it and balancing them thats it! Didnt get to pick the truck up until saturday 630pm, i go to start the truck and put it in gear and the pedal goes straight to the floorboard no pressure whatsoever!! Go back in the mechanic says i thought that was normal it went straight to the floorboard...youre f'ing joking right?! Ive blown a brake line before and you still have pressure you cant tell me they had my truck for 2 days and didnt notice they blew a brake line!! And they didnt do squat about it just played stupid!! What a joke! Never again will i go there!!

Very good people here. Sometimes it is more expensive. However, the people here act and treat you more like a person. They explain and listen. Acknowledge you when you talk and try to help you solve the problem that best fits your situation. I trust these people.

I have been a loyal customer to our local branch of PepBoys for over 2 years now bringing all of our 3 vehicles to the Westnedge location in Portage, MI for all maintenance needs! But unfortunately we will no longer do any business with the company moving forward due terrible customer service and not being honest about services I ve paid for in the past and they were not actually performed to specifications per the manufacturer! My significant other was told on 10/24/2023 our car would be ready within an hour of her arrival while waiting and it ended up being 5.5hrs later before the car was supposedly ready! I was told the day prior a lifetime wheel alignment would was already performed by the Store Manager John which turned out to be false and then she was told by a technician that our car was too new and there programmer couldn t relearn the proper location of the newly installed tires as well for the TPMS! So again how was my car properly maintained in the last several previous services that I paid for but appears to not actually have been done to specifications! Fred an employee at the local service center told my significant other at 11:30am on 10/24/2023 the car would be ready in no more than 2 hours from her time arriving to wait for the car! Total lack of customer service and communication again this has happened more than twice now in the past and the last 3 scheduled appointments for oil changes has taken at least 3 hours to complete and that is unacceptable! I always made my appointments online for 8am when the store opens but the last 3 times of service I arrive to be told oh I m sorry but no one will be here to service your car until 9am Total lack of management and customer service! We will no not be returning for any future service and also he caused my significant other to have to cancel 2 very important client meetings due to their negligence!

Staff is overworked but very honest, hardworking, and straightforward to deal with. Gave me a good deal on my tires and worked with me for a discount on a muffler as well when my second coupon for my tires wouldn't apply.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!!I took my car to the Portage, MI location 9/16/23. I dropped off the car for my scheduled appointment, at that point there was 1 slightly bent wheel that had a dent on the inner lip of the wheel no wider than 3 fingers that had gotten that way during the winter of '21 on a pothole. We purchased 1 new wheel from Toyota and 4 new tires online from Tires Easy to be installed. When they finally completed the install (4 HOURS LATER) my husband checked over the car and found scratches on the new wheel, which had been given to Pep Boys, still in the original packaging. When he pointed it out to the Manager [Ryan] all my husband asked was that in the future they try to be a little more careful. Driving home he noted there was a very severe vibration coming from the rear of the car above 40mph that was not there before the installation of the new tires.We took the car home at that point and parked the car until we had time to get another appointment to get the tires rebalanced. The appointment was set by my husband on 09/18/23On 9/19/23 over an hour after the appointment time, we called to check on the progress. They told me there was now a second wheel that is now bent and that was the reason that the car was shaking, even though the car had no shake whatsoever when I dropped it off for the install. My husband attempted to speak with the technician on speakerphone about the bent wheel and he [the technician] stated that the car now had another bent wheel and "could not be balanced and we would have to purchase a wheel to fix the problem". Frustrated, my husband asked him to put it back together and we would be on the way to pick up the car. When we arrived my husband went to the trunk of the car to verify that the right wheel had been replaced on the initial install and indeed it had. However when the technician showed him the newly bent wheel which he said was "egg shaped" (however was a clearly bent hub of the wheel) as he spun the wheel on the balancer it had a distinctive wobble. When asked how this happened the technician and The Manager appeared to be confused and attempted to explain how wheels get bent. (during this part the conversation became heated). What we clearly wanted to know was how we had yet another bent wheel from the time we dropped the vehicle off to them and the time we picked it up. The only solution Ryan could offer was that we had bent the wheel because "wheel balancers don't bend wheels" and never noticed the vibration that it "absolutely had to have had because it can't be balanced".I've attempted to contact the customer service from headquarters but they refuse to call us back. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!

Had an incident where another shop promised they had the tire in stock in Grand Rapids and then they called me after I had dropped off the rim to say they didn't. These guys got me in and out in less than 20 minutes so that I could get home before the snowstorm. Very friendly.

Staff needs to be more prepared for scheduled appointments to ensure that equipment is functional and ready. They also need to not delete rescheduled appointments that were rescheduled because their equipment wasn't functioning correctly. The work itself seems fine so far and did indicate future work that'd need to be addressed in the future.

My youngest came home from Chicago for Father s Day weekend and of course told me the car was shaking when it went over 65 and has been doing it for a while and it needed an oil change! So I called to make an appointment for Sunday before the trip back to Chicago. I dropped it off in the morning and they called with the diagnosis: needed new shocks and struts, and tires! The people who helped us made sure we were satisfied with all the work and made sure we weren t overwhelmed with the cost! It was not completed until Monday, but they assured me everything would be fine. They were concerned with the stem valves and replaced them as a courtesy. I was very concerned, but they made my experience great! Well done folks! The car made it back to Chicago too!

Awesome experiences here on multiple visits. Pricing is good, hours and availability to get service appointments is great, but what really makes this location stand out are the employees. They're great whether you know your way around an engine bay or if you're someone who knows nothing. They're there to help, and it's what they do. There are too many names to remember, so I'll just say that every employee displays a "can do" attitude. On my last visit, I met Troy. He was awesome, totally helpful and a great guy who shares his knowledge freely. Same goes for other salespeople I've met, mechanics, and the manager. Just an all-around great spot for all of your vehicle needs.

had a terrible experience at this location, unprofessional staff were careless with my vehicle and refuse to rectify the situation. save yourself the trouble and do not take your car here!
