I cannot even begin to explain the experience we just had with Nick's. I should have read the negative reviews to see what kind of people they truly were before going in. All started out great. We were looking to purchase a truck with "rear end noise" and brought it in for an inspection prior to purchase asking for them to check and see if the noise was a differential or bearing issue. When we returned, we were told they couldn't fully look because they couldn't find the tire key...which was right in the glovebox and I found it in .5 seconds... we then had them look and Steve came back in and said "Great News! It's a bearing issue (repair est. $850) and we can replace the axle, not a differential issue (repair est. $2400)." With this knowledge, and an inspection report stating the differentials "passed", we went ahead and purchased the truck, and brought it back to them the next morning to make the repairs we discussed previously.This is when things got strange. We got a call late in the day that the parts were fixed but the rear end was still making noise and it WAS in fact the differential that needed replacement, adding an additional few thousand dollars to our bill. Since we only bought the vehicle because we were told this was NOT the issue, we were very disappointed. (They kept back peddling saying they didn't tell us that it wasn't the issue.. although 3 of us heard the same thing...and that the inspection report was for "visual inspection" even though it wasn't and the report specifically says to check the differentials for the cause of rear end noise) We were told they couldn't get us a quote until Monday, so Monday we got a call that it would be an additional $2600 fix, but they'd give us a break at $2200, and include a free axle for the other side of the truck, which was not reported as needing replacement, so my husband asked if they would consider just taking the price of the axle they already replaced off and not give us the free additional same part we don't need. Keep in mind we are on a budget and thought repairs would total $1400 from their inspection, and now are being told we will be at $3600 even with a "break". This is when all hell broke lose and we saw their true colors. Steve flipped a switch and went off on my husband saying they didn't trust us, they didn't think we would pay them, that we're "asking for too much?", and swore at him. We just asked a question and had no intention or thought of going elsewhere with the job until this happened. They would not allow us to speak to Marty (who we had gotten along with great the day before), or give us his number to clear the air as to what the heck just happened. They said we could no longer pay with cards or check and could only pay cash because we seemed like the kind of people who wouldn't pay them (like what?? because we asked a question?) After trying to reason with them and say we're confused and have no idea why they feel this way or what just switched to make them treat us this way, we no longer trusted them having our truck in their possession, so our FIL went to pick up the truck and sure enough, they refused to let him pay by debit, credit, or check, and we had to go to the bank and get cash because they didn't trust US after THEY made a mistake. It was then that we noticed a review from 3 months ago stating their experience after the shop made a mistake...seems like a similar experience to ours. Everyone makes mistakes, but this was unlike anything we have ever experienced. There is so much more, but please just AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

The co-owner Oli is exceptionally friendly, with trustworthy energy. Took care of my coupon oil change and tire rotation with no problems.Also gave me a free car inspection and advised me on what parts should be repaired and what could wait.I will be back!

Definitely the best auto shop I ve ever been too. Had my car at mechanic one off joy road, they were treating me like absolute garbage. Had my car towed to nicks auto and they took wonderful care of me. Got the repairs done for less than half of what mechanic one was telling me. They treated me with respect and didn t act like I was stupid because of my lack of knowledge about cars. They did my repair in less than two days and kept me updated along the way. They understood my financial situation and didn t give me a hard time when I asked to go with an aftermarket part. Normally taking my car in for repairs makes me insanely anxious, not knowing if I m being price gouged, feeling like I m being talked down too. But not at nicks. I will be definitely coming back and recommending to my friends and family. Thank you Nick!!

Nick s is my favorite mechanic for a lot of reasons; they are quick, they have excellent mechanics, they never try to sell me something I don t need but will tell me what I did need and respect my budget at the same time, and finally, and most importantly, excellent customer service.I had to drop my car off as they closed last night and they were able to get it back on the road in one day. But the customer service didn t end there. I arrived just before close and forgot my phone inside, which I didn t realize until I got home. Steve took the time to drive to my home to make sure I got my phone! Now that is going above and beyond. I can t recommend Nick s enough.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Was on way from Royal Oak to Ann Arbor when my car decided to act up. Pulled off the road and couldn t get beyond first gear. Called up Nick s Auto to see how long it would be if I had my car towed there and they said the next day.Well the towing company dropped my car off at the wrong mechanic and Nicks Auto was incredible by going around to their neighbors to look for my car as the tow company said they dropped it off.Fast forward and they felt confident in their suggestion for repair so we moved forward. Unfortunately, there was more damage than initially thought (which they were honest about from the get go). While I wasn t willing to put more money into repairs, Nick s Auto definitely went beyond regular service.Great place. Great team and incredibly knowledgeable. Made the entire decision process easy and gave multiple options on what s next. They do cost a little more than other mechanics but their knowledge and expertise is top notch and well worth the added price.Even though I don t live in the area, I would easily recommend them and even think about taking my own car to them for repairs.

Owner s father who also owns Pilgrim Auto, got physical with my father in law when he went to go pick up our vehicle. PHYSICAL!?! What a world we live in for an owner of a company to get physical with his customers. Company made a mistake with our vehicle and when they were done fixing their mistake, they tried holding our keys for ransom unless we paid for the work. Commutation is poor between other shop (Pilgrim Auto) , owners father is violent and should be in anger management classes. Police got involved in both situations in trying to get our vehicle back. Do not go here unless you want to leave with a black eye and an empty bank account.Service: Engine repair

Always a great experience taking my cars to Nick's auto repair. They quickly repaired my flat tire and as always, went the extra mile in the service. I thought I was going to have to put my spare tire back underneath the bed of my truck Was happy to see that they took the extra step to put the spare back up for me. We used Nick's Auto Service to rent our budget truck for a cross country trip. These guys were amazing. Extremely helpful, flexible, and made sure we got the exact truck we wanted on time and in tip-top shape. They even went out of their way to drive themselves to another location and swap out our truck for a better one in time for our pick-up appointment. Quick help with replacing tire that was a flat and had bad damage, on my friends car. Steve very helpful and they neatly put away the spare and jack, etc in the trunk that we'd had to get all out to drive vehicle there. Very pleased.Service: TiresService: Tires

I noticed my brakes were vibrating on my drive into the office. I called Nick's Auto on the freeway, They had an open bay, took the car in, and had it diagnosed and fully repaired by the end of the day. When they started their day, they were not expecting my call. They took it in stride and went beyond what was necessary. I would highly recommend Nick's Auto for any/all of your auto needs. The quality of work there seems to be top notch. I have a older 03 2500HD diesel. Yes, 16 years of rust and grime. I usually do the work myself, so for me there was a little sticker shock. But in the end I felt the price was fair. Easy jobs can get exponentially harder as a vehicle ages. They took the time to grind off rust and made sure they were mounting on clean solid surfaces. Replaced anything that needed to be replaced. And yes expect to pay for the extra. But I'm a firm believer those extra details save you money in the long run. It's the way I would have done it on my own vehicle. There is a level of pride at this shop you probably won't get at Belle Tire or Firestone. As long as your not expecting something for nothing, it's a good shop.

Steve and the guys at Nicks helped me in a very tough situation! I am from out of state and my son is a student in Ann Arbor. His car was in bad shape and we needed help. They walked me through every decision on the phone and helped us out with shaving some $ off the final total. Honest good people! Great experience having my vehicle serviced by Nick's Auto! The repairs to my vehicle were completed before the time promised and at the exact cost quoted. Everyone at Nick's is awesome! We had the battery replaced on my 2014 Kia Soul at a different shop and the following day it was dead. Nick's brought my car back to life! They quickly diagnosed it was a battery post and replaced it at a very good price. Exceptional experience awaits you with Nick's.

My family loves these guys. Not only are they honest, but very reliable as well. If you have them look at a car you might potentially buy, well they will tell you if it's worth buying or not. Not only are they thorough, also quick to get you back on the road with a reliable vehicle. I would and will most definitely reccomend and referr Nick's Auto Shop to any and all!! I love this place, they're very thorough and do a good job. Honestly, their labor price is high, in my opinion, but I'm sure it's close-ish enough to industry standard. And truthfully, while their repair prices will be higher than some, it's worth that extra, because of the extra care they take.I'm pretty picky when it comes to mechanic work, and it's why I do 80% of it myself. But when I need a job done, and I want to know that it's going to be done right, the first time, I take it here.

This place rocks. Steve got me right in with a dead turn light today, and previously was able to get my ford focus serviced quickly too. They are honest, they dont push you. They are efficient and helpful. Definitely will continue to use them a lot more!

Tom literally went the "extra mile" for me by taking me home after I dropped my car off and picking me up once the work was done. The work itself (front and rear rotors and pads) was completed quickly and the price was very reasonable.UPDATE 4/2020. I needed some additional maintenance work done here a year later and my previous "extra mile"comment now has more miles to it. During the virus lockdown they actually came to my home, picked up the car, and returned it to my driveway when the work was done. It was wiped down with sanitizing wipes and I paid for the work by credit card over the phone.

I have continued using nicks for years. Steve and nick are beyond helpful, fair priced and not pushy. If you are in the area, don't waste your time with anybody else! Went in for oil change on an older car. No pressure to do unnecessary repairs like other shops do. They explained some possible repairs that may require attention and gave me quotes that I asked for. Steve was very nice to deal with. We will be going back.

Nick, Steve, and the gang look out for me and my family. We have two older vehicles, but they are in great shape. Nick and the crew never try to make us feel like we need to do a bunch of repairs that aren t critical.As long as we live in Plymouth and Nick s is in business, that s where I ll be taking my cars. And if you re in the area, that s where I ll advise you to take your car.

Had three cars go down in a week. Steve and Drew are good guys. Honest, quick and reasonable. I would def go there again and refer as many people as possible. Glad I have a mechanic in town I can trust.

I came in with a tire issue. Carson was friendly and prompt. He actually quoted a time that was too soon!Everything was efficient and easy and stress-free. I feel like I got an incredible deal.I can t imagine taking my car anywhere else.

Arrived at exactly 8am on a saturday and they opened at 8am. There was 1 person there picking up their car and no one else was present. I Wanted to use their coupon for an oil change and rotation. Was told "I have a couple appointments today so we could do it later today or during the week". I asked does "later today" mean it could end up not getting done today? He said yes. None of these "appointments" was even there yet but I was. He probably could have had my stuff done before they even arrived AND he had an empty bay!Total scam. The lady picking up her car had been back multiple times for work done on her transmission that needed to be redone. Enter at your own risk.1/9/19 response to owners reply.The 2 people you mentioned were leaving so I was the only one there. If you need an appointment to utilize this coupon you should say that instead of wasting people's time. It says a lot about your business that you would waste people's time.Your options for me were leave it and I'll try to get to it this afternoon which was never going to happen based on how busy you say you were or for me to "make an appointment later in the week". Like I said, if the overwhelming odds are that a person needs an appointment just be honest and say that.

Sigh, I thought Nick's was good at first too, and there were so many good reviews. I went in for an oil change on a 2012 VW Beetle Turbo, major regrets... 3 weeks later, my oil was leaking, and I went back in to check. They said my oil pan was leaking. The damaged area was at the bolt hole. There's no reason for the threads to get messed up unless they did not torque it accurately. They claimed it to be 'wear and tear'. I don't think things get stripped out so easily like that. Was an extra 500 bucks to get it fixed.If you want real VW service go to the authorized VW dealership. I thought such places would cheaper but I doubt they have all the right tools and instructions needed for the complex VW :(

Honesty and respect is 2 main things I care about. I went in to change my sway bar links(07 mailbu) because I thought they was bad, I bought the parts myself and was gonna do it at home but just didnt have the time. When Nick's check it out they didnt need replaced and he let me know. You do not run into many mechanics that would tell you that especially when I had the parts. Very professional. Will definitely tell friends and family this is a legit shop Great buisness.see you in the future.

I had some work done two months ago .and I won t be back.Both my outer tie rods and one inner tie rod were replaced upon their recommendation. Two weeks after the work was done, the locking nut on the passenger tie rod came off, causing me to lose steering while driving. I had to pay for a $145 tow back to their shop, where they put the nut back on and realigned my car.Just recently, I took my wheel off and realized they replaced two of my lug nuts with 17mm ones instead of the stock 19mm ones. They never told me about this. If I had blown either of my front tires, I would have had no way to remove the wheel since the socket wrench in the car is 19mm .irritating to say the least.They are nice people, but the work done was sub-par.

These folks know their stuff and do honest, complete auto repairs. I've taken both our cars in for various service issues the past year and they have always fixed the problems completely. Highly recommended!(Mike P.)
