John has taken care of my cars for years. He always does quality work at reasonable prices. I am especially grateful for his honest assessments of possible issues with my vehicles. He never tries to sell me parts or service that I don't need.

Great repair shop in downtown Plymouth. John is honest and reasonable with his repair estimates. Just had entire brake system replaced and the service costed close to 1/3 of the estimate received from the dealership. John helped with ordering the parts online and installed the brakes & rotors right away. Definitely our go to place for all auto services.Service: Auto brake replacement

I'll always appreciate John's honesty and knowledge about cars. I've brought several cars to him over the years. I am just so pleased that I took my Saturn sky to this place this guy went above and beyond to try to help me find a noise that was annoying in my convertible.. Cadillac dealership told me it was a strut the guy was completely honest and said he didn t think it was the strut but we rolled the dice change one strut just to see if that was the problem ended up not being the problem the guy really worked hard to figure it out and miraculously did when others could not!!!! The hood was out of alignment and he adjusted the pins to the hood to make it line back up evenly and the noise is gone!!!!!! Very honest place to take your vehicle tail!

John is great...my daughter bought a used car that kept having the engine light coming on and reduced power so the car either didn t move or was slow to move. She is 21 and so frustrated with the issue. John figured out what was happening and squeezed her in 2x to do her repairs 1st 1 code then another after the second fix she has been good since. We really appreciate his dedication to his customers and charging very reasonable prices for his work.

"Honest John" at American Auto has been our only mechanic for over 25 years. He and his crew answer your questions in layman's terms. They have always gotten back to us within less than 24 hours from drop off. Never have we had a repair go bad. My family always calls John for advice about car matters. We have referred so many people to American Auto. John, don't EVER retire!!!Services: Steering & suspension repair, Electrical, A/C installation & repair, Battery, Oil change

Honest, quick and thorough mechanics. I guarantee after you use them you will officially have a 'car guy'. Affordable as well. Can't recommend them more highly. Went through some tricky repairs that took longer to diagnose than to fix and the cost out the door was surprisingly reasonable, even after being referred to this place for their service/quality/price. Called them yesterday to bring the car in and they were able to diagnose and recommend something I could do to fix the problem. So grateful

This is a great shop, they do great work and with integrity! John answered all of my questions, helped me figure out what my issues were with my van and helped me get it fixed at the lowest possible cost to me. I am very thankful for their help!

This is a stand up establishment. The people are professional, but also do everything they can to save you some money. When they did some work on my brakes it costed about a quarter of what anywhere else quoted me, and when I asked how they did it, they took the time to walk me through the whole process, which I thought was just awesome.

Great service. Always very quick and professional. Consistently cheaper than estimate. Can t speak highly enough about this place. John and his mechanics are extremely knowledgeable and honest and fast. Hard to find these days.

You can call this guy honest john. After spending an hour looking at the car he said he could not fix it. He did not charge me anything. I still go there first for all my auto needs.
