My daughter bought a site unseen Aztek on auction. After Daddy fixed all he could, we brought it to AuSable Trans and Gear. They went over it with a fine tooth comb. In addition to needing the trans completely rebuilt, they found several other issues that we were not aware of. Ultimately, we decided not to fix it. Their knowledge and attention to detailed saved us from sinking thousands of dollars into this vehicle. It was well worth the small affordable fee they charged for the diagnosis.

Brought my car to AuSable Trans and Gear because my brake pedal was going to the floor. They insisted that I needed back brakes and reassured me multiple times that my front brakes were in good shape. I paid $300 for the back brakes and when we left the shop I was shocked to realize the brake pedal was still going to the floor and barely stopping the car. I took the car back to AuSable Trans and Gear and now they tell me I need front brakes at an additional $350. I can't believe they gave that car back to me for my daughter to drive without making sure the brakes were working the first time. They have lost my trust and business forever!

I initially thought that I had a fantastic experience, they got me in quick and replaced my leaking pinion seal and new U-Joint quickly while we were up north on vacation. However on our way home we experienced a terrible howling rear end noise in the truck followed by a bad vibration.After taking it to a mechanic near where we live, this place only barely tightened the pinion nut (around 20 ft lbs when it needed to be 210ft lbs) and didn't get the clip on the u joint to seat properly after paying $200 for the service. So another $200 later to fix this shop's carelessness. Everything they touched did not get reassembled to proper spec.After calling the shop to explain what happened, they offered to fix it if we brought it back up there (3 hr drive one way), and said they were going to investigate what happened and call me back. They never followed up with me. Needless to say I am very disappointed.I'm sure this place does good work, there are a lot of good reviews, but whatever mechanic that was working on my truck needs to pay closer attention to what he is doing, could have possibly caused thousands in damage, thankfully it did not.

I had my Transmission rebuilt by these guys. 2 months later, started having shifting issues. Brought it in and they replaced a cooler line that was supposedly the issue. I moved out and state and they same problem happened again. Contacted them to see if they would help because I paid 2,300 dollars for a rebuilt transmission. They refused to warranty it and wouldn t even pay for the cost of the failed parts after saying they would help . I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP. STEER CLEAR!

The guys took the time to diagnose the problem. Tested out everything that was wrong. I wasn't as much as I had anticipated. I am thrilled with the time and effort. Au Sable Tran and Gear Highly recommend this business!

Zero would be better! Estimated cost of repair was $320-$350 total cost was $720. Per my written order on work order was right side brake. I got a call from Roy he said he needs another $132 for parts on left side brake. Furthermore he said I will not put my truck together without the additional part.After paying the bill. My truck brake pedal went to the floor, brake fluid on the left tire. Roy said it was a defective part. I could have been in a accident if I hadn t checked the brake pedal.Out of town person s be careful.Service: Brakes

I took my SUV here for trouble with my starter and to get a blown heater blower replaced. They took care of the starter no problem and let me know that the heater problem was actually just a faulty wire which they easily fixed saving me the $125 I was going to pay for the new blower motor. They were fast, friendly, had great communication and most importantly they were honest. I will be going here for all my future work.

Mike and his crew were absolutely fantastic! I'm from down in the Lapeer area and on my way up here I had a problem with a wheel bearing. I called them and explained my situation that I was 165 miles from home and they were able to get me in and fix my truck that day even though they had a full schedule. What an awesome experience. Absolutely the best experience with a auto repair shop ever. They keep you informed every step of the way. We had a new transmission put in our truck and couldn't ask for any better service. They worked with our warrenty co. And we didn't have to worry about anything. Once they had approval they installed the new transmission in one day and had our truck back to us the same day of install. Awesome staff that strive to to get you back on the road a big thanks to the staff at Au Sable Trans & Gear 5

Pretty fast turn around. Communication was great and service was outstanding! Checked everything and fixed everything that was necessary. Kept us in the loop for everything and didn't "max out" the estimate they gave us :-) We had to have our transmission completely rebuilt and they even replaced the lines and little parts that needed attention! Would definitely go to again!! Its been a couple of months and all is well! My son had his rebuilt there as well and has had ZERO issues in 1 1/2 years! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! (They don't just work on transmissions either...see them for any of your automobile service needs)

The transmission went out on my van had it towed in to be checked out. Called me the same day to let me know it was an internal problem. This was on a Friday. Monday they called me with the amount to fix it and they ordered the parts. They had my van repaired on Thursday. Excellent work and the van is running great. Thank you Au Sable Trans & Gear

I had what I thought was a catastrophic failure on my 2016 RAM. Limped it over to Ausable Trans & Gear and they diagnosed it in a matter of minutes. Turned out to be an ignition coil. Since it was going to be in the shop I asked them to change the spark plugs as well as flush and change the transmission fluid (something the dealer told me was not possible for that particular vehicle.) Results: truck drives good as new and the price was very reasonable. Their professionalism and updates on progress was also appreciated.I keep a fleet of trucks running for my business so it's very important to me to have a shop on standby that I can trust. I can now say I have a go-to maintenance and repair facility in Northern Lower Michigan. We'll definitely be doing business again, lol, that's work trucks for ya ;)

All started fine. Water pump quote was much lower than final price. When we got it back, both power steering steering pump and line were damaged. They would not take responsibility.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

Ausable Trans and Gear has been twice recommended by my "daily mechanic". He knows and trusts them. And wow... now I do too.I've taken two cars there, $0 and $160. Honest, fast, and fair.

This business is top notch professional and reasonably priced. Had a local shop add ATF fluid to a vehicle with CVT transmission. They flushed with cvt fluid a couple times and filled saving my cars transmission. As I cldnt drive it at all till fixed they got me in quickly and prices were super reasonable. I will forever take my vehicles here.Service: Transmission

You guys are awesome, every time I have a car issue this is who I take it to.they are honest, and care about their customers..they have always taken my car in without appointment and fixed it that day. Took my car in for a new manual trans. It cost $1500 for a certified used trans to be put in. Then I noticed my car is not shifting smoothly into gear so I took it back within the 6 month warranty the trans had come with. They dismissed it and said everything is fine, now the warranty is expired and it still won't shift smoothly into all gears. If you have a manual transmission, go elsewhere.

Great place to get repairs! Mike and the gang are wonderful to work with. I have never had a complaint with their work. They took care of our van and now they will take care of our truck. I wouldn't go any other place.

This place is a joke. Went there with my dad and wow they have no people skills, like pointing at you and saying your wrong and always wrong, the head mechanic Sean he tucks his tail and runs from you when you try to talk to him, and the person behind the desk blatantly lies to you and shouts at you. and on top of it they jack you around and the price (i recommend you go somewhere else).

Had my fathers 92 caddy deville in for what we thought was a starter problem. After a thorough checkover, it end up being a loose chip wire in the ignition. They were more than fair and honest with me being a tourist. Their integrity and kindness was more than i ever expected. I would recommend these guys to anyone having mechanical issues. They are very reliable and trustworthy. They will tell you up front what you need and for how much. No scams and excellent customer service. They have been helping with my fianc�s and my car for awhile. Best part is that they care.
