Can not say enough how much I appreciate Doc's and the amazing staff at the shop. I was severely over quoted at a dealership (like almost $1000) for some work on my exhaust and after talking with Doc's, they estimated the repair at around $300. After a terrible experience with a dealership paying exorbitant diagnostic fees, Doc's was able to get me set up for my repair in under 10 minutes and for even less than the estimated price.Thaer was so helpful and supportive through the whole process and I will be using Doc's for any and all of my future automotive needs!

A recommendation to give DOC'S a try. Best recommendation EVER. Set up for oil change, and all checks were done, reviewed, and drove off wondering why I didn't call DOC'S sooner. Services top notch. Professional and personal. Highly recommend using your community's local businesses. These guys are real and honest.

When it comes to auto repair, one may not necessarily expect a life-changing event, but that's exactly what happened at Doc's. Their top-notch expertise and dedication to customer safety not only resolved my vehicle's issues but quite possibly saved my life.The situation began when I had some work done at another mechanic's shop. Unfortunately, the problems persisted, and I found myself in desperate need of a reliable mechanic who could address the issues. That's when I discovered Doc's Automotive. Despite having a busy schedule, they kindly fit me in, demonstrating a genuine concern for my safety and well-being.Upon inspecting my vehicle, the skilled mechanics at Doc's identified the critical issues that the previous mechanic had overlooked, or worse, caused. They took the time to explain the problems in detail, ensuring I understood the gravity of the situation. I was astonished by their level of knowledge and professionalism.Although I ended up paying extra for the repairs, the cost was well worth it considering they likely saved my life. The team at Doc's Automotive went above and beyond to ensure that my vehicle was not only roadworthy but safe to drive.In conclusion, I cannot recommend Doc's Automotive enough. Their outstanding expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to customer safety have left a lasting impression on me. Got my car in quickly, back the next day.They weren t sure what was wrong and so did their best guess, hope it was right! I was told to come here by a coworker who knows the owner. It was my first visit. Sad to say, I was slightly disappointed.Charged me for my inspection and the work. I totally understand being charged for an inspection if the work isn t subsequently done, but it was.I can t remember even having been to a shop who does this. None of the shops listed below charge me for an inspection and actually don t even charge if I can t afford to do the work at that time, I even asked Rick at Ricks once if I owed him something for his time and he graciously declined (he s a great guy).I tried Docs because it s closer than my regular spot, Ricks in St John s, but Ricks doesn t overcharge, so I ll be saving my $130 and driving out to Ricks from now on.I also take my car to B s Randall when Rick isn t busy and we love service at the Kia Dealership, we also use Honda dealership service right up the road from here.On another note, when I asked if the charge for the inspection was an error, I was told, it s a small business and we have to charge enough to pay our employees. Repeat business is how you ensure a thriving company. I have two college age kids, 4 cars in our household. We have literally and sadly spent thousands on our cars over the summer and still need struts and front brakes on one car, another $1500 easy.I would have switched my business over to Docs to keep it closer to my home, but can t stomach the overcharges.It was nice if my coworker to suggest but I feel she may be out of touch with how car service works or she is getting special treatment, she doesn t seem like the type of lady to welcome an extra fee.

Thayer is great at explaining your vehicle, and your situation.. I really felt like I knew what my options were because we're tight on money.. In vehicle repair this is everything you want in a repair shop.. Fair pricing (fully explained) I felt very comfortable with my repair process here. It is a stressful situation and a huge investment I felt 8 was given my option integrally . My repairs on both vehicles are spot on solid.. Deffinatly coming back here for all mechanical repairs..

My husband and I both bring our vehicles to Docs for repairs and preventative maintenance. They are always so polite, understanding and willing to explain the work. While car repairs are never a fun thing to deal with, it's always a pleasure working with their staff.

I waited to write a review until I'd dealt with Doc's a couple times and now I refuse to take my vehicle anywhere else! They're skilled and honest and it's very clear that they care about more than making money. Thaer, Anthony, and the people they have working there are so accommodating and patient, they make an already stressful situation much less daunting and I can't recommend them enough.They communicate clearly and swiftly, are transparent in their pricing and diagnosis', and are customer service pros. We had a belt shred on the highway driving through Lansing and were able to make it to Docs. They were amazingly kind and helpful and it makes all the difference in a stressful situation. They not only diagnosed the problem quickly and ordered a part, but they also did a full once over to be sure we were good to go.What a treat to run into amazing customer service. Thanks Docs!

The staff at docs Automotive was fantastic. I blew a tire down the road and pulled in with no appointment where Chad and Thaer immediately squeezed me in to change out my tire. All the bays were full and it was busy but none the less they stopped what they had going to help me out. Great team and service!Service: TiresService: Tires

I cannot express how much I love Doc's Automotive Inc. I was previously taken advantage at a different mechanic shop and I went in to Doc's because the other mechanic had returned my car with work unfinished. Doc's did everything for me with fair pricing and explained all of the work they had done on my car without making me feel bad for not knowing a lot about cars. I felt like they actually cared about my safety and not just making a quick buck off of me. I don't live in Lansing anymore- but I will still drive back there just to have my car and myself well-treated.Services: Brakes, Auto maintenance

I have been impressed since day one. Thaer and Anthony answered questions I had on that day in an inciteful and professional manner. In that meeting I had the impression that they take pride in their work. I should say I am cautious about repair shops, but Doc's has since day one continued to give me a sense of confidence about their integrity.Since meeting them I have had work performed on three of my vehicles and have been very pleased with the service and communication on each. The communication via text and email keeping me apprised of the status was unexpected but much appreciated.An example of a repair is they repaired a rear brake, caliper, and rotor at a much more reasonable price than the dealer who had fixed the other side. Additionally, I asked them to check on an issue a dealer presented two months earlier on another vehicle. After inspection they found that there was nothing wrong with that part. Fortunately, they noted a drive belt that was bad that had not been noticed by the dealer. We are truly blessed!!!Doc s Automotive on Holly Road not too far from campus was on the ball.Thaer at Doc s was truly amazing and the kindest man ever! He had my sons car in and out in a matter of a few hours after having it towed there. When it stopped running in the Meijers parking lot (in 16 degrees ) I raced to find a good mechanic in East Lansing and was thrilled to connect with Docs automotive through the referral of Pat and Rick at AutoZone. Thank you so much Pat and Rick you referred me to one of the best! My son attends Michigan State and has a pretty tight schedule with 5 engineering classes and working 2 to 3 days a week and lives 4 miles from campus so he didn t need to be without a car. I was praying it was only the battery since we were running into some cold weather when it stopped running for him. God is good it was only the battery after testing the alternator as well and that tested fine, it could ve been so much worse!Thanks again ThaerMy son Connor Will surely be referring Doc s to his other friends.Very Happy and Blessed customer!!Services: Auto battery replacement, Battery

Knowing I had an issue with my vehicle, I called and spoke with Joe. He helped assess the potential issue over the phone and estimated a price for materials and labor. I thanked him and explained I was going to compare pricing locally and would call back if I decided to go with Doc's. Ultimately, I found the repair costs were similar at other shops and because my experience with Joe over the phone was the most pleasant, I chose Doc's Automotive.I did experience a longer than hoped repair timeline (just over 2 weeks), however Joe kept me informed of part delays along the way and I made due with other transportation.Overall, I was pleased with Joe and his customer service. I'm always skeptical of auto repair establishments, but so far I am very pleased with Doc's Automotive and will return if needed.

Went in for a rear brake replacement. Staff is friendly and courteous. Pricing is very good compare to other places. Anthony is great and knowledgeable. Glad to have an honest auto repair shop around town. Highly recommended.

I had previous engine work done here. Now I have an oil leak from the engine on serpintine belt. The belt was oiled and fell off. He does not think the leak is related to the work he has done although another machanic believe it is. I have had nothing but issues with my car after his work.I personally would not recommend this shop based on my experience.

Highly recommend Doc's as a fair, professional and thorough repair shop. Jose (owner) took the time to explain what was wrong and what it would take to fix. I appreciated the extra time to go over the job and for the quick repair when I took my car in. All around great experience. I highly recommend Doc's for their work - and very reasonable prices.

I purchased a 2014 Equinox from a private party. We took it to Doc's for a onceover and estimate of any repairs needed. He was thorough and honest about what it needed. My seller and I split the cost of the repairs, Doc did the repairs promptly and I drove off in a like-new used car. I am very pleased with their work, their prices, their promptness, and I feel like I have a new friend whom I can trust with my car repairs.

I recently had work done by another shop. I ve gone to them for years. They handed me back a car that was unsafe. Took the car to Doc s because I knew something was wrong, but I couldn t put a finger on it.They inspected my car, gave me the list of things wrong, and fixed it without issue. Prices were good, turnaround time was good, and communication was good. The car now feels like it should. Cannot thank them enough for taking on a challenge and fixing someone else s shoddy work.Will be back for sure.

Took my 05 Tahoe in with some ABS trouble, Turns out the work was a lot more involved than I thought. Joe brought me in while the car was in the air to show me the exact problem, I did not have to just take his word for it. The price that he gave me was excellent and beyond reasonable. the work was more than he thought, but he still stuck to his quoted price. Also as I was leaving he told me of other issues that he scanned in my car free of charge. I usually do most of my own small work, but I will say this is the best auto shop I have ever had the experience of dealing with, and he will get all of my future business and all of my friend and family recommendations. I have been using Doc's Automotive for years. The owner, Joe, is the most honest and ethical man you will every meet. They do great work at a reasonable price, and never try to "upsell" you on anything that is not needed. I recently had a major repair that because of the age of the car took MUCH longer than the book time, but Joe stuck to the original estimate.I would never go anywhere else.

Had an emergency on the highway while traveling to visit family. Stopped here and asked if they could take a look. They immediately pulled our car in and tried to figure out what happened. Besides time spent waiting for parts, they never stopped working on our vehicle to get us back on the road. We had our dog with us and they allowed us to bring him inside (it was January) to stay warm. The owner was very welcoming and they did everything they could to figure out what was wrong with our vehicle and communicate with us honestly about what needed to be done.

I'm overwhelmed by the degree of service I received--both in terms of going waaaay beyond & of course-- the quality of service. Joe and Anthony addressed a custom need for my senior mother who can't drive. I can tell why Doc's is swamped with business because they clearly really care about their customers. Honest, upfront, transparent mechanic. My 97 Honda Accord got 5 new fuel lines and new rear brakes. Jose showed me in detail every change they made. He gave me a reasonable estimate at the beginning and called me to ask permission to continue if any other repairs were necessary. The lines were very corroded, and repairs took longer than 5 hours, but he only charged me for 5 hours, as this was the original estimate. They also replaced my shifter knob at no extra cost. This family run shop is an honest one, and they have won a loyal customer in me!
