Pickering Auto is the best. You won t get a more honest or caring business. It s rare to find a business you can trust to not take advantage of you, to pick the sale over a person. Great people and service!

Have never once had a problem with pickering auto, they'll work with you on payments as long as your on time. They'll let you reschedule when needed. Ryan and Aaron are amazing people. Would recommend to anyone.

They did a good inspection letting me know of all the issues I had. Didn't end up getting work done because of the state of my car but they were honest about it and they do good work for my family members as well

Best shop in Midland. They are also an authorized Amsoil installer and retailer with oil, engine flush, fuel system cleaners and firearm cleaner & protestants.

I was searching for a place that wouldn't lie to me or take advantage of me not knowing anything about cars. I took my car in, and Ryan took care of me and assured me that the techs were good. I cannot say enough about Ryan and the team there. My car runs fabulous again, the pricing was fair so I took my daughters car to them and again, great service!!! I am from Iowa and had a check engine light pop on then turned off 2 miles from our destination outside of Midland. These guys were the only place to be able to get me in and back up and running promptly to be able to travel safely home with 3 kids and 2 dogs. They addressed the problem which was spark plugs and wiring and were very affordable. I am happy they got me in and they were all great people! UPDATE: AVOID - Dangerous and sloppy work here now. Would give zero starsNot sure what happened, but they have gone downhill fast. My daughter brought her vehicle in for a tire rotation and they DID NOT TIGHTEN the lugnuts. The wheel almost fell off, my son-in-law had to tighten them back up so they could drive it BACK to Pickering's to have it done properly. They texted my daughter later to tell her it was "all set". I had her bring it to me to check, and AGAIN they didn't tighten the lug nuts on a front wheel. All 5 lugs were way too loose (I have and know how to use a torque wrench).This was DANGEROUS, they wheel could have come off and cause an accident and/or injury.I have left a message for the owner Fred, but no reply. I have called a 1/2 dozen times with no answer. Sad to see a once reputable shop go completely bad.My FORMER review, from a few years ago:One of the few places I trust with all my cars. Great work, fair prices, and honest . Can't recommend highly enough.

My car started acting funny and was driving irregularly. I took it in and got a clear explanation of the problems. They were fair on pricing and had it back quickly! I will be taking my car back for any future repairs.

We've always had a good experience at Pickering (using them for car repairs for 8+ years). The repairs have been timely; costs have been explained up front and seem reasonable. Those working on our cars have seemed very knowledgeable and experienced at what they do.

I have taken my vehicles in the past to 2 auto repair businesses that advertise locally and at the end of the day I was far more pleased with the service I received at Pickering. I told them what I needed and they did exactly that. No upselling or trying to push more extensive repairs. They get a A plus for how they took care of my auto repair.Service: Brakes

I visited Pickering today to have them change my fuel filter. I had called beforehand and was quoted $53, which was $30 for labor and $23 for the part, which the owner looked up while I was on the phone. I do realize that prices may differ slightly. When I arrived, they did not give me a written estimate.After they finished, Krissy gave me the invoice for $61 (before tax). I told her the owner had quoted me a lower price 3 days before. One of the additional charges was $5 for "shop supplies." I know that it's "only" $8 but compared to the original quote it's a notable difference.Finally, they did agree to honor the quote "this one time" after Krissy huffed and rolled her eyes, saying that this "happens all the time," suggesting I was trying to get one over on them.I thanked her, paid, and then suggested that when they give quotes they should include the shop supplies. I was not confrontational, but she immediately started giving attitude and cut me off mid-sentence. I explained that there was no need to talk down to me, but it was more of the same. Finally, I asked to speak with the owner of the shop, who happens to be her father.When I told him that Krissy had been very rude to me, he said "That's just the way she is." I started to explain that that is not the way to treat customers, but he literally turned his back on me and walked away, leaving me alone in the lobby.All that said, it does seem that the service was performed okay, because my car is running better. Also, the man who actually did the service (I don't know his name) was friendly.However, I do not patronize businesses that disrespect and don't care about their customers. This was my first visit--and my last.TL;DR: They will overcharge you and then give you attitude and disrespect you when you call them out on it. I'll never be back.

I love this place. I have taken my vehicles here and have never been less than satisfied. Super honest and there have even been times where they fixed simple issues with little to no cost. Great people. I recommend them highly.

To FRED PICKERING...Apparently you haven't read all of my reviews. I would love to bring my car in to get these issues fixed but I figured it's been way too long and I would be charged again for something that happened due to the wiring issue that Nathan supposedly fixed the first time. So... Yes I do need something. If your willing to oversee these fixes I would love to bring it in, however I don't believe I should have to pay for it. I honestly don't know what I paid $1,200 for the last time.When you were the one working on my car, I was 100% certain that the job would be done and done right... And it ALWAYS WAS! Now, I get it, you worked and built your company but now you want to relax but still be part of the whole effort.. And you deserve it! Good on you! But things don't run as smoothly anymore I'm afraid. Anyway, if you mean what you said about needing something done and you want to make things right... I'm sure you have my number, give me a call. I'd love to hear from you.Another update:. Took my car in for what I thought was a fuel pump, it sorta wasn't. My mechanic Nathan, rigged up my hood for easy opening because I wasn't going to spend upwards of $300 to get a new cable installed. Thank you for that Nathan. He ended up fixing my issue and said it was the wiring. He replaced my rear brake shoes, that I purchased and brought in and refused to change the front brake pads because he broke a lug nut and figured the rest would go as well. I brought in replacement lug nuts when it was towed in. ???? Still don't understand why it wasn't done. Anyway, he quoted me a price of $900 before he did any work at all and I agreed, only because I thought he would fix everything.Got a call it was done, went to pay... $1,200 !!! I said for WHAT? They claimed he didn't add labor. Hummm. I argued but ended up paying anyway.I drive away and when I turned out the driveway, my seatbelt alert came on. After a while it went out, but came on again at every turn. Went to a store on the way home...my chirp for the alarm didn't work. I tried the horn...nothing. by the time I got home I had so many dash lights going on and off I couldn't keep track.I scheduled a time to get it done but I just couldn't make that day, tried again but something came up and I couldn't find a time that I had enough time to leave it to get fixed. I only have 1 car and I was working at the time. Still living with the issues yet today..2 years later.Needed major repairs done so I had my car towed. Never actually seen anyone in person but they did the best work ever and quickly at that. Great communication and answered all my questions throughly. Was able to pick my car up after hours, had a little hesitation at first because I had never used them before but they did an amazing job and with the lowest cost I could find in the tri-cities. You will not regret putting your car in their hands!!! Thank you Pickering!!Need your help again and will be calling today.UPDATE: I had to have some more work done, and Fred and his staff were amazing. They are very thorough and always takes the time to answer questions without giving you that "Comeon lady, just let me get back to work" look. I'm sure other women know what I'm talking about. He has several women who work there and are very knowledgeable about car repair and trying to stay within a budget. Pickering Auto will have my business for life and I hope that spreading the word will bring him even more business. He deserves it.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I took my BMW in because the brakes went out completely. I was told after a few days over the phone that it was the beake master cylinder. I said go ahead and fix it, as well with the mass airflow sensor. I mentioned I'd like some other things fixed too, depending how much it was gonna cost for the master cylinder and the airflow sensor. Well I called every 2-3 days to check on my car as they had it for 2 weeks and it seemed like it was taking a long time to fix two parts. One of which is located right on top of the engine bay and is a simple plug-and-play part. Fred decided to have several other things on my car done without asking me and charged me for it. Never once did they mention they were doing these other services on my car until they were done. The bill was almost double what I was originally quoted. I tried talking to Fred about it and he just walked away! Tried having a calm discussion and he claimed it was all for 'safety reasons' even though nothing else was wrong prior to taking it in. I'd also like to note my front passenger seat had leather peeling off of it. My seats were not like this when I took them in. I called them 3 times when they reopened last week and they never retruned my calls. This whole situation inconvieneved me as I didn't have my vehicle for 2 months because I didn't have the cash for this bill at the time, as I was expecting it to be the original price they gave me. I will not be coming back here again. The staff at the desks are very nice and the mechanics know what they are doing and do great work, but it comes down to how the owner runs things, and he is very unprofessional. Very disappointed.

This is hands down the best place for auto repairs. Fred actually looks for a problem then offers economical fixes as opposed to just randomly replacing parts and hoping for the best. Make sure to plan ahead and call for a slot because this place is not a secret. I've also had them fix DIY auto repair projects gone awry. Fred & Pickering Staff - D and J Auto Repair fixed my car in "2 days". You should seriously pay me for 2.5 months of rental car expenses. Please do NOT ever do this to anyone else again. It was very unprofessional.Added following review on - Oct 25........I was a big fan of them for past few months. That changed today. I am listing some timestamps and facts below to share my story.July 4, 2020 : I dropped my car at their parking lotMid July : They told me that they have ordered some parts from GeorgiaJuly End : They told me that the parts are coming from Georgia but delayed because of COVIDEntire Aug: They keep telling me same thing - parts are delayed because of COVIDSep 1st Week : They said that they are expecting an UPS truck to deliver the part. The truck didn't arrive.Sep 2nd Week : The UPS truck still didn't arrive.Sep 3rd Week : They said that they will provide me the part number so I can look it up. They never called back and never provided the part number.Today, 25 Sep, 2020 : After 82 days (or 2.5 months), they said, we diagnosed your car again TODAY, seems like the parts we ordered aren't going to fix the problem. Sorry. You don't owe us any bills.They kept my car for 2.5 monthsThey didn't deliver on promisesThey didn't pick up the phone, didn't returned my calls, and didn't provide regular updatesI had to go there every week for 2.5 months to check on themNo documentationAgain, I liked them in the beginning, felt like they are honest and professional. They disappointed me big time. Put me and my family in a huge financial and emotional stress. I wish they could refund me the money I put into the rental car for 2 months plus additional penalty for the stress.
