I was really Upset With the Service Or Lack There Of I received From A&J. Terrible customer service and everything they did, I Have to pay to have it done again. They didn't even list the $1400 I Was Charged On My Receipt. It just wasn't A Pleasant experience !!! I had to Initiate every call. I wouldn't recommend them to my Worse enemy. Thinking about reporting them to the better business bureau. I wouldn't dare take my truck back for them to make it right. I just gotta charge It up as a loss. I had to leave a review after Travis(Mechanic) helped me out this morning. There is a back story that landed me at A & J Transmission. On yesterday, I had the hardest time trying to change my license plate. The screws were rusty, stuck and striped. I went to Advance Auto for help in which two males was gracious in trying to get the plate off with no luck. I then went to ACE Hardware, a representative tried with no luck. I even tried once I got home to drill it off. No Luck! I figured I will now have to take it to a licensed mechanic.On my way to work this morning, I stopped in at A & J Transmission to inquire if someone could provide plate removal service. Travis was kind, patient, and knwledgeable in knowing just what to do to remove the screws. He was able to get my plate off and the new one on in a matter of minutes. Yesterday took a total of 3 hours trying to figure it out with no success and Travis comes out and in 10 mins takes care of me.If Travis is ths knowledgeable in something that seemed so hard for 3 other males,I sure he is superb under the hood. Don't hesitate to take your vehicle here! We will be back for services in the future.

Not for me but they have fixed my son's car twice and now I am thinking about taking my car to them now. Funny what you find from your kids huh

A&J tackled a bunch of complicated issues with our 2006GTO and did an excellent job getting us back on the road! Cory was great to work with and kept us informed as progress was made. My first time at this shop. I understand they are busy, but I think the communication could have been better. I am pleased with the work!! They put a shift kit and replaced the shifter... It looks great!!! I got on it all the way home. Each pull felt stronger, can't wait to finish the project and hit the track! I would choose this shop again!!!

We dropped our son off at MSU for freshman year two weeks ago. After driving 700 miles from NY our transmission went in front of his dorm. Panic set it but we managed to make it to A&J.So glad that we did. There we met Travis who diagnosed the issue immediately. The staff Makala and Alexis(I think) were so helpful. Since we were not from the area Alexis took the time and used her resources to find the best deal on a rental car to get home. Then she drove us to the airport to pick up the rental. Just picked up my truck 2 weeks later when I was able to get back to Michigan. Travis did a fantastic job and even gave me a three year warranty on the rebuilt transmission. Great place. They diagnosed the problem I had with my car, but I realized that it should still be under warranty for service at the dealership. They did not charge me a thing since I decided to take it to the dealer for the warranty, but the price they did quote me for the issue I had was very reasonable. Hopefully I won't need their services, but they will be the first ones I call for any transmission issues in the future.

I had to call the shop to ask about my car after they had it for a week, they said no one called you? , no, no one called me. She gave me a list of about 20 things that had to be replaced including head gasket and timing chain, all together quoted me over $4000 to fix my Chevy cruise. I said no thanks and they told me you just owe the $115 fee . I was never told about a fee when I called or when I dropped the car off, so that kind of ticked me off. I paid, and took my car to a different shop for a second opinion, I was quoted $0 at the second shop, the reason my car was making weird noises was due to spark plugs not being tightened enough. My car runs perfectly fine. Thank you an and j for causing me to have a mental breakdown thinking I was going to go broke or need a new car. Me personally, I do not recommend this place.

By far the Best!!! Had our truck towed there from another shop and they were done with it FAST!! Comes with a warranty! Staff was great! If you ever need a transmission this is the place to go!!!! Thank you for the great service.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

A&J Quoted $250 for a transmission fluid drain and fill along with their recommendation of a filter as well.Honda Dealership $180 for a transmission fluid drain and fill. Dealership said no need for filter as the filter in transmission is life long no need to replace.Ended up doing the job myself for $60 with recommended Honda transmission fluid

A&J Transmission came highly recommended. Come at opening to get your transmission service done, it is done by first come first serve. They did wonderful work on my car but I also wanted to comment on the way they made me feel. I came after dropping kids off at school and driving to Lansing, a half hour from my home. I arrived 15 minutes after they opened and realized that they must have filled all the transmission appointments they were going to do that day. As a mother of 6 it took some planning and preparing to get my vehicle there but they would not have known that, they took my car and allowed it to get serviced and made the time. I was floored. They explained well what they were doing and how much it was going to be upfront. I appreciated the respect they gave to me. Not only that, I had my youngest with me in the waiting room for the 45 minute service appointment. They changed the channel to delight my son and gave him a car for him to enjoy playing with during the appointment. A & J Transmission went above and beyond my car. They took care of my family and the care and concern they showed us in the waiting room has earned my loyalty as a customer. Great job. Thank you!

Had my transmission rebuilt. Been working flawlessly so far. Very pleased with the final product. Competitively priced and comes with a 3 year warranty when you do a yearly transmission service with them.

A&J is awesome. They have helped me multiple times. Most recently, they got me in same day, quickly assessed my car and fixed it within minutes! Office manager also was very kind and gave my son some paper to color on to keep him occupied :)

If you're looking for an auto repair shop that is fair, offers expert workmanship, does what they say they will in a timely manner, AND has a group of people with great personalities, then A & J Transmissions is the place for you. After years of loyalty to a dealership I realized I was being taken advantage of. Since I'm not a mechanic, trying to find someone I trust was no easy task. Fortunately I found A & J Transmissions a family owned business and Kory took the time to explain what was needed to be done and also keep me updated through the whole process. He made me feel like family. I will never go anywhere else and will be sending all my family and friends to A & J Transmissions!!! Thanks again guys

Today I give thanks for getting my car fixed by A & J Transmission. My search for a local mechanic shop that will diligently work to keep my car cared for stops right here at A & J Transmission. After being through three other local mechanics who unsuccessfully managed my car and inappropriately, I find that the A & J Transmission mechanics and employees work by and through their Integrity, Honesty, Dignity and Kindness. Their communication was explicit and upfront. They kept me in the loop by calling me with updates about my cars repairs and other possible fixes to keep in mind for the future. I feel safe and confident knowing A & J Transmission has my back!! I strongly encourage and recommend A & J Transmission to everyone!Thank you so much A&J, I appreciate YOU ALL!

A & J Transmission cannot be overstated for how much they helped me with my car. A few months after my transmission was fixed, it had another issue that they fixed for free under warranty. These guys are there to help and stand by their warranty for real! Go to these guys if you ever need help with a fix up, they are the best.

I was not impressed with A&J Transmission at all. I told the counter person what was wrong with my transmission including it would not go into reverse. He told me to bring the car in so I did. Three days later he told me that the car would not go into reverse and would need a different transmission. I asked if he pulled the pan or valve body. He said nope just put it in reverse. He quoted me a price of $2800 for a used transmission installed. He still charged me $100+ for the inspection that took him all of three minutes and he could have done over the phone.The owner of A&J called me and apologized for the misunderstanding. He offered a refund of my diagnostic fee. Actually I am impressed with his personalized service and sense of fairness. I would consider going back to A&J again.

I got a flat on the expressway and pulled into their business late at night and left my car there. They let me leave it there for 2 days, went through efforts to re-park it when they didn't have my key, got out old equipment to find the leak, put my spare on for me, called a local tire shop to see if they could find me a cheap used tire, and they didn't charge me a dime for all their helpful services! They don't deal in tire repair, but they helped me free of charge without complaint. They seem like a very humble and honest business. I thank them!

It was a little bit more expensive then what we originally talked about, they also had a little bit of trouble with their supplier finding a manual transmission, but overall they did a phenomenal job I'd recommend them to anybody. They also took care of a couple of lights that I had going off on the dash for no extra charge, my car definitely runs a lot smoother and shifts a lot easier than what it did. Even though there was a couple of hiccups, I'd give them 10 stars without a doubt.

I landed here on the highest of recommendations so much so that I had my Ford Excursion towed 95 miles to get it here! I couldn't be happier with the service I received and the knowledge they have about transmissions. I will absolutely return if ever needed and give the same high praise and recommendation to everyone I know and don't know. Family owned and operated is a plus! Thanks again!

These guys stand behind their work like no other shop I've worked with. A local, family-run business that's deserving of your patronage. Highly recommended.Update: I am absolutely convinced that these are the sharpest mechanics in Lansing. They have routinely found issues that other shops have missed entirely. Every time I bring a problem to them they have been able to find it extraordinary quickly and have been gracious about doing so. I cannot recommend this business enough.

I have dealt with these guys for almost two decades. They are always knowledgeable, friendly, and honest.Most recently, they saved me over $4,000 on a repair to my Cadillac. The GM dealership in Okemos wanted to put a used part (that I didn't need) in my car, charge me $3,000. Then replace two other parts (that I didn't need) for another $1,100. None of which would have fixed the ACTUAL problem that A&J diagnosed, and fixed for a FAIR price, in no time flat.Thanks guys!

The only place I trust to get my car serviced. Corey is phenomenal and is always willing to explain exactly what he believes the issue is and your options of repair. I have yet to have a bad experience at A&J transmission, if you re a student and need to get your car serviced but you re worried about taking it somewhere out of your hometown like I was, take it to them.
