UPDATE: Using the chat option, the reservation was cancelled with no fee! My husband called to book two nights with this hotel; as it s always recommended to call to check prices vs online booking. She said the room would be $140 but she could offer a $20 discount. That took the room down to $260 for the two night. Then she charged a total of $370 for the rooms. When he questioned it, after getting the bill, there was a $55/night resort fee/charge!! So, since he just booked and it was well outside of 48 hours he asked to cancel; nope, they will keep an entire night plus the ridiculous $55/night fee if you cancel, even 48 hours in advance. Do yourself a favor and book online. Online the fee is only $25 total. So, total for two rooms online would have been $294 vs the $370 this hotel charged by calling them over the phone. Save yourself money and don t book directly with them.

We came for a one night get away. The Beachfront Hotel and staff were exceptional including the grounds keeper. Extremely clean and smelled good too! We ended up staying an additional night. We were there at the same time as the wedding group and experienced no problems. We chatted with several people at the beach and they also were very impressed.with the hotel. I will definitely be back and highly recommend the hotel. The best part was it was pet friendly! Laurie

My husband and I took a random trip to Houghton Lake, and found this gem. The staff are very welcoming and kind. Room was nice and as shown on website. The entire hotel was exceptionally clean. Good coffee, hot water, nice big whirlpool tub was the cherry on top! The beach was clean and maintained immaculately. We didn t get in the water, but seen plenty of kids swimming around. The only improvement I can suggest is upgrading to smart TV s.I will absolutely return and next time bring my grand kids. They would have a blast!Keep up the great work!Rooms: Clean and cool the air works great!

This was our 2nd time staying here! Beautiful little hotel right on Houghton Lake. Rooms were super clean and nice! They do have the option for rooms that can walk right out to the lake. They also have a pool and small fitness center. They also have a decent spread for breakfast (bagels, muffins, cereal, waffles). Staff were always friendly and did their best to help you! We will be back again!

I stayed here a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed my stay. The room was amazingly clean and I felt well cared for by the staff. My family had somewhat of an emergency and had to stay in this area recently and I remembered my stay here and called and talked to Jennifer she was so sweet on the phone and she managed to help me and my family out I really do appreciate her!

BED BUGS!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND YOU STAY HERE. Management will not even address the issue. They are very hush hush and completely ignored it. Did not want to even discuss it. One was physically found on a family member. And bites all over. Management will claim that we got the bites from being in the water or on the beach. Not the case as we had other family staying in other areas of Houghton Lake and none of them had bites like this from being in the water or on the beach. They were still making reservations and allowing people to check in knowing they have a bed bug issue. Do not recommend. This place should be shut down. Will be reporting to the health department. Hotel does look clean but Bed Bugs hide in places you can't see.

Had to update since the last time I was here. First time I stayed here it wasn't bad. The only problem was the heat never shut off. Had to leave the patio door open it was so hot. I mentioned it to front desk.......a "sorry" was all I got. I decided to try it again this past Easter Weekend. I don't know if it was the same room or not, but the heat wouldn't shut off on that unit either. Being there 4 days and not being able to have a comfortable temperature in my room sucked. I was on the balcony, OUTSIDE, smoking my weed and I was getting complaints that I couldn't smoke in the room.Stay AWAY FROM HOUGHTON LAKE if you like your LEGAL WEED! They have no problem selling and profiting off of it, but YOU BETTER NOT SMOKE IT!

Very nice place. Room had everything you'd want, fridge, microwave, freezer, TV, a desk, and even had a jacuzzi in the bathroom, which was a pleasant surprise. Room smells and looks mostly clean, save for the AC/Heater which had dust in the vents, and the piping in the jacuzzi, which needed to be ran and drained to get the residue out of them. Have breakfast and coffee available in the morning. It was a pleasant stay, all in beautiful Houghton Lake area, Michigan. The hotel literally does have lake beach access.

This is the second time I've stayed at Beachfront Hotel. Each time has been a nice visit. The beds are very comfortable. Room temperature is consistent and easily maintained. Shower was hot with no annoying temperature fluctuations. The room was clean and well maintained. There are beach side chairs, firepit and grill. It was too cold and windy to stay outside. I was hoping to fish off the dock. Maybe next time. I will be coming back. Breakfast options are lite, but typical of a hotel continental breakfast (hard boiled eggs, yogurt, juice options, cereal, waffles, fruit, and coffee). My only option due to a gluten allergy was the yogurt and hard boiled eggs.

Disgusting! Dark black pet hair all over pillows and sheets! Obviously bedding was not changed. We have stayed here before with our small poodle (non-shedding) and are charged a pet cleaning fee of $35 per night! This time, my husband travelled solo with no pet. Why was he assigned a pet-friendly room in the first place? He said the staff immediately changed bedding when he complained but we will no longer stay here. Gross AND kinda shady.

My husband and I went for a couple of nights to celebrate Groundhog Day. We found the room clean and the size nice for the two of us. The beds were firm but comfortable and they had a nice selection of pillows if you don't choose to bring your own. We shared one night stand that had a device in the middle for plugs and usb's. I found this to be a great asset! The downfall to the shared nightstand is personal, in that I have a cpap machine so it limited his ability to utilize needed space. The heater was quiet and not clunky, microwave functionable and the refrigerator was better than most as it had a separate freezer. I never heard the room next to us. I did hear foot noise from a child in the room above us, but even I, a light sleeper could get to sleep. We were there while it was in the negative 10's for temperature which made using the hot tub nice! The pool though was slightly chilly but maybe because of the outside temps? The common area was bright and nice to play a game or two in as well as have a meal in. They offered coffee and tea all day. Breakfast was the standard yogart, hardboiled eggs, a couple fresh fruits, cereals and bread products. All parking was in the front. All employees I encountered were delightful!!

BED BUGS! We stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding and after the first night my wife woke up with several bites. We had the bedding changed but after the second night she woke up with more bites we brought this to the attention of the front desk but they told us we would have to call the following day to speak with a manager. That following day my wife had not experienced any relief from the bites so she went to urgent care where she received the diagnosis that they were in fact bed bugs. We called the hotel manager and she said we had no right to make that accusation and that my wife probably got the bites from in the lake (we never went in the water). To say I'm less than happy is an understatement. I paid nearly $500 for the 2 night stay and now I'm worried that we've brought bed bugs back to our own home. The health department has been notified.

Loved it! Room was clean and very nice. Loved to sit on the balcony overlooking their private beach on Houghton Lake. Staff was courteous and helpful. Grassy area for lounging, play scape with swings for the kids, bar-b- que grills, a boat dock, refrigerator with a freezer, microwave, swimming pool, hot tub, continental breakfast.... I never wanted to leave!

Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, clean rooms. We were looking for a room with a jacuzzi and were pleasantly surprised with how big the tub was. We didn t have a beachfront view, but we re okay with it. We were able to walk down to that beach to take in the view and we were not disappointed. The only complaint on our stay was that the doors were in tight areas, but it s a small price to pay for such an excellent place. This will be our go to place next time we head up north.

I really want to give another half-star but I guess that I can't. It's not quite up to the 5 star mark. Anyway...so, we only had an overnight stay and it was pretty packed with some wedding goers. I expected some noise but nothing. Very quiet. The rooms were very clean but some of the carpet and furniture was a little dated. Not horrible mind you, just close to needing a some work. Location was beautiful overlooking the lake. We were on the 4th (top) floor and could still hear the water. Beach looked very nice as did the indoor pool. The fitness center was small but had your essentials. We had the breakfast in the morning which was nice. Cold cereal, muffins, pastries, waffles, bagels, fruit, oatmeal etc. Not extravagant but very nice. I felt the price was just a little high but doing all the other things right made it palatable. Shout-out to Cassandra at the front desk! Great job helping me with my online check in and fixing my mistake! All the staff we saw looked and acted very professional and should be commended. We will definitely be back.

We came up for the weekend. It is a very nice place, good staff, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Balcony to enjoy views of houghton lake ( pay the extra it's worth it) I will be back for the sunsets. Absolutely beautiful. Very clean. Only complaint is there is only one elevator so you wait. Bring your own wood if you want to start a bonfire. They supply the rest.
