I was recommended to AAMCO on Portage Rd in Kalamazoo by my trusted mechanic who was not able to service transmissions. I was very impressed with their honesty, customer service, professionalism, reasonable pricing and friendliness. They called me on the phone three times to verify the problem and what they were going to fix. I could tell that they wanted to do their very best to get my car repaired correctly. They fixed everything in one day! Well done AAMCO - I highly recommend your shop!

Labor here was really expensive and the staff were a bit difficult to understand over the phone. They also suggested a fix I didn't need on my car, and I felt like the mechanic took it personally that I wasn't able to afford it and only asked for the original service I came there for. In person they were friendly and overall the fix I did get seems like it was of good quality.

Ehhhhh terrible service. They charged me 95$ to hook my truck up on a diag tool ( my friend already did this a day before ) and did nothing else to help or advise me besides quoting me 4000+$ starting for a trans rebuild. I'm still driving the truck btw so SKETCHY AS HELL AVOID !

I can't speak highly enough of AAMCO - we took our car there for a transmission issue, not realizing it was related to a Ford service notification letter we had received many months earlier. Any car repair shop could have just not said anything and taken the business and charged us for the full repair, but AAMCO informed us that if we took it to a Ford dealer it might be fully covered. We checked with Ford, and found out it was indeed related to the TCM and would be fully covered (parts and labor) by Ford. I'm very grateful to AAMCO and highly recommend them based on this honest & caring experience!Service: Transmission

Very honest and trustworthy people. May 2022 before Memorial Day I went to Walmart and when I got there my car wouldn t go in park. I drove to my mechanic, after he looked at it he told me he couldn t find the problem and there wasn t anything he could do. I towed it to AAMCO and they told me they wouldn t be able to look at it until after Memorial Day. They called me a couple days before Memorial Day and told me I can pick my car up. They said there was a small pebble lodged somewhere that prevented it from going into park and it s okay now, I owed $30. I was so relieved and appreciative.

I was very pleased with the service from AAMCO. Chuck was a very straight shooter and I appreciated his honesty. He told me what HAD to be repaired and what could wait for now, but should be on my "watch list". I'll definitely be back!Services: Transmission, Steering & suspension repairServices: Transmission, Steering & suspension repair

I recently took my 2008 Chevy Impala to AAMCO transmission in Kalamazoo for a transmission issue. The torque converter in my car was not functioning correctly, so I had that replaced and the rest of the transmission rebuilt at the same time, and my car is shifting great and has power that it hasn't had for several years. I would highly recommend AAMCO transmission to anybody that is beginning to have issues or already has major issues. There are not many auto repair places in the Kalamazoo area I can say good things about, however this place in specific would be one of my top three choices of repair shops in a 50 mile radius of where I live.Thank you again so much for restoring the life to my car :-)

Had my transmission rebuilt cost almost $2500,these guys decided to do a oil change without our permission, then we got our van back and now we have problems that we never had before. Not to mention told them from the beginning that overdrive was slipping as well, when we took it back to be checked we were told transmission is fine it must be the engine.Never had a issue with this before it was worked on. Both readings on the inspection papers we recieved have different codes. Not impressed with this place and will never recommend here to anyone or will get our buisness again.

Highly recommend! My son's car's SES light came on and we took it to a competitor to pull the codes; it was determined that it had to do with the transmission. Since no one else would touch it, it was recommended we take it to AAMCO. Not only did they get us in right away, they were prompt in determining what the problem was, and got us back on the road again within a day. Definitely my go-to if we have future problems. Thank you, Chuck and crew!

Worst experience ever. They took the liberty to do work to my vehicle that I never approved and overcharged for it. When I confronter them (Helen) she was extremely rude and lied directly to my face about the parts and work they did. STRONGLY suggest you stay away and take your business far away from these crooks. Not to mention my air shocks were damaged while my vehicle was in the shop. Legal action is pending.

I had this shop replace a wheel bearing on a Toyota pick up, they charged me 500.00. 20,000 miles later it failed, so I brought it back. They fixed it AGAIN and charged me another $500.00. The second time they worked on it, they said the axle was "worn out". Anyone with any mechanical sense knows that solid rear axles don't "wear out", bearings do though. I believe there may have been an issue with the axle when they worked on it the first time but instead they ignored it and put it back together. The second time they worked on it, I sourced an axle and they installed the wheel bearings. 15,000 miles later the same wheel bearing went bad AGAIN. This tells me that they screwed it up again. I went and bought all the equipment needed and just did the job myself, something that is obviously above their skill level. there are Youtube videos that show how a wheel bearing is done on a Toyota pick up, perhaps they can watch one and get some training and do the job right someday for someone else.

I have used Chuck and his crew for several year now. Still great service, still comes in under estimate and he fixes my car every time.

This location was recommended by friends and I'm glad I went there. Price was what I expected but follow up check was included. Free! Staff was friendly, competent and timely. It was a very good experience overall (as much as a transmission rebuild can be) and I'd recommend them to anyone.

Chuck was communicative, he explained everything that needed to be done, worked with me on scheduling, got it done in half the time I expected and I know I would have paid a lot more to have this done at another shop. I have tried other mechanics, but this is the best one in town.

They get it done right, and on time. Joe had a great dry sense of humor. You will not regret dealing with this business. They will not take advantage of you when you are at their mercy. Make the best of a bad situation when your transmission lets you down. Aamco won't disappoint.

The old lady in the front is rude, they tried to deny me the use of coupon and only because I'm a active guide did they change their mind. The old man that is there was almost as rude as the old lady. This place gives off a discrimination vibe strong. Never take your car to these people they over charge every time. Had my wife take her car here to see if they would charge her more and they did. DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR VEHICLE!

I brought a 2013 Subaru Impreza to have them fill about a quart of CVT fluid. After I gave the car key, I asked the old guy (I don't know his name) the most typical question: Approximately how long will it take? He never answered my question and was incredibly rude. About 30 minutes later, I saw a mechanic moving the Subaru to the inside. So I asked the old guy again if I should wait there or get picked up and come back later. Once again, the old guy didn't even bother to answer my question and was on his computer playing games in the corner. This old guy does not seem to know how to take customers and just hates his life. Someone needs to teach him how to respect and take customers appropriately. I will never go to this Aamco again.

Chuck was easy to deal with from the start. I called four shops locally on the same morning and the only one to call me back was AAMCO.

Scary staff, reminded me of crazies from a mental institution, extreme prices, facility reminded me of a dark run down hospital waiting room where you hear people screaming in the locked operation rooms, you feel as if your going to die in their waiting area. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
