Preston helped me out of a really tight spot where my van was stuck in poor conditions on a narrow seasonal road. He definitely went over and above normal expectations to get the job done and was very friendly with a great demeanor! I would highly recommend their services!

VERY rude people to deal with! Did not leave my car same way they found it, and started yelling and swearing, wanting to fight me for asking any kind of questions. Do NOT goto this tow company. Please hed my warning! not a good company.

I needed my transmission flushed in 2020 because I drove into a deep puddle and got water in it. Was told they didn't perform transmission flushes which seems odd because they are a transmission shop. They told me to return to have my transmission filter changed to get any residual water. I had it flushed at the quick lube and dropped it off to have the filter changed. They called back saying I needed a new transmission because it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. I was skeptical because I had no issues driving it after the fluid was flushed. Picked up my vehicle and noticed the check engine light was on. It would not shift correctly, but backed up just fine. I got it scanned at Oreilly and the code was for a shift solenoid. Changed both shift solenoids for less than $60 and guess what, transmission shifts fine again (still does in 2023). I find it hard to believe that a transmission shop would have missed that code entirely.Service: Transmission

Had my car for almost a week for a ailment. I guess bolts kept breaking. But I could never call and give me an update. I had to call them. Gave me a rental car to use. Once I got it home, it wouldn't start. Took 30 minutes to jump the thing. Car had a horrible smell and shook driving down the road.

Lake Transmission and Towing saved me when I was stuck on the side of the road. Great people at a great company who care about their customers!! After another tow company cancelled on me and I was stuck for hours, Lake Transmission and Towing came to the rescue. They did an amazing job and worked with me through a lack of service on my cell phone. Five stars!

These guys have been so helpful. My car broke down on the way to the U.P. while I was about 2.5 hours from home. They helped coordinate a pickup time to tow my vehicle that aligned with my folks coming to get me. The car was not fixable and they helped me find a yard to scrap it at. Very helpful and I would recommend.

I am once again grateful that there is an outstanding company in my community that delivers amazing work on my car! They are my go to repair shop with the most wonderful people! I have taken my vehicles to Lake Transmission for years and are very satisfied with the service. Above that is the friendly and honest people who work there. Horrible service gave us the run around, our vehicle was there for over 5 weeks. They wouldn t call us back after calling them to ask about it. We had to finally drive up there to even talk to anyone and when we got there the vehicle hadn t been worked on, parts hadn t been ordered or anything like that. They said that they weren t sure if we wanted it fixed our not when we already told them that we wanted it fixed. When we dropped off our vehicle there was a half tank of gas and when we picked it up it was on E and had to put gas in it to even get back home. Very disappointed, the business used to be excellent before it changed ownerships/management, now it is absolutely horrible. Do yourself a favor and look somewhere else.Service: Transmission

My car wouldn't start and was displaying multiple error messages. An angel named Tyler came, and after trying to jumpstart it, he guessed it was a computer related problem. Rather than giving up, he was determined to solve the problem. He ended up magically rebooting the whole system and had me on my way in no time. Plus, he showed me how to fix it should it ever happen again. Thank you, Tyler, and God bless. I am forever grateful.

Great people and service! This was my first contact with them. I called with a problem, Ryan had me come right in and had it fixed that very afternoon. I had no way to get back to my cottage and they made sure I got back safely. I definitely recommend them!!

Absolutely great guys. Knowledgeable, fair and honest. On the way home from Gaylord area and had to stop in Houghton Lake for a snowmobile part. Truck started acting up so I took it here and these guys were able to figure out the problem and fix it right then and there. And they were on lunch! Strongly recommended

Took my aging Buick LeSabre here to have some much needed work done. They were communicative, friendly, and reasonably priced. Took my car in for a few fixes, was told it would only be about 3 weeks to finish the work. Was no big deal so I waited the 3 weeks just for them to call me in the beginning of week 3 just to tell me they don't want to work on my vehicle because it was too much work for them all of a sudden. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and BAD BUSINESS . Unless you like waiting 3 weeks just for them to tell you they don't want to work on your vehicle I would NOT recommend this placeService: Transmission

Tried to take advantage of me when I was in an accident. I wasn't from the area and the police dispatched this company. They kept insisting my car was only worth $30 and I should just give them my title. (My transmission in this car is hard to come by). Then after multiple phone calls and numerous witnesses, they lied saying this never happened and FINALLY gave me my car back. Very unprofessional, was told by 2 different men they were the owner, yet both said they are the only one working the whole shop. They also drove my car around their yard, they denied this even though I have pictures of my tire tracks that prove it wasn't a tow truck that moved my car. Would not recommend this place for anything!!

We are from downstate, headed up to traverse city for the day with 10 people is a full size van, had vehicle trouble in Houghton Lake and brought it to the guys at Lake Transmission. 3 hours from home, 10 people to move, below freezing temperatures, and no rental cars within 75 miles, the guys at lakeside let us use there car to drive to Saginaw to arrange transportation. Then, after helping troubleshoot the problem didn't want to charge me for their time or use of car. They made what was a very difficult situation a great experience. While I hope to never be stranded in Houghton Lake again, but if I was, I wouldn't hesitate call on Lake Transmission again.

They picked up my broken jeep. Provided a timely estimate, made the repairs and came in under estimate. I would use them again but hope not to have too.

This is the worse possible place you can do business with, they lie cheat steal and take advantage when you are having you most challenging time. Go anywhere except here!!!! R&R just down the street in prudenville next to gillroys hardware are great honest hard working repair shop. So any vehicle issues I recommend this place 5 stars!!!! :-)

I will most definitely be using lake transmission for any future major repairs, they where fast and friendly. I took my blazer in there making some front diff noise thinking it needed a complete rebuild. It actually was due to the 4wd system not the diff it self. After they fix that they went through the whole 4wd system fixing the other issues that caused the major issue. Cant think these guys enough. All done at a great price.

My Suburban died in northern MI and it was towed to Lake Transmission. The unit was replaced and is running good but an issue turned up while I was downstate. A leak developed from the transfer case and while the unit was under warranty, it would have been extremely inconvenient for me to travel almost 3 hours each way to have the issue addressed. I had the leak repaired locally and Todd covered the cost of the repairs. This organization stands behind their work!

Sunday afternoon, blown out tire on a 40' motorhome with a vehicle in tow somewhere in Houghton Lake on M-55. After several phone calls of no one answering and/or couldn't perform the repair we needed. So pleased when Lake Transmission answered their phone and said they could send someone out and make our needed repair. The young man was terrific. Please consider using their service when the call is needed. Many, many Thank Yous'.

Super kind and helpful, came after hours to help me out with a tow after waiting for a different company for hours. Great service and would definitely recommend them if you need a tow.

I had a tire blow on the highway causing me to spin out and roll the car into the ditch. It seemed like the car would drive so they towed it out, changed my tire, and jacked up the back of my car to see if anything bad happened in the roll-over all on the side of I-75 at midnight on Christmas eve and were happy to help, they didn't try to rush anything despite working that night.

They went above and beyond their call of duty everytime!!!! handled it no problem! Ive sent pizza to them several times for lunch because i was so greatful of their dilligence in every aspect of their job to meet my needs highly recomended from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have had my vehicle for over a month.. an they have not been in good contact with my insurance company all to turn around and tell people in the community they will not fix my vehicle bc my ex works for them.. i would never recommend them.. not even my insurance company is happy with them.
