Dave's has worked on my daughter's vehicle twice. Both times seemed to be transmission issues. We live 500+ miles away, while our daughter goes to Tech. Dave's not only diagnosed and repaired her vehicle on the day of the appointment, they were honest and the repairs were extremely reasonably priced. It turned out to be small fixes, and they did just what was required to get her back on the road. No up-selling, completely honest, efficient service. They even provided education to our young lady so she learns more about her car. Very grateful there is a shop we can trust when we are so far away!

Dave s shop highly recommended. We broke down in Copper Harbor and he was able to tow are truck and repaired next day. Great service and fair repair cost! We love Michigan Thank you!

Had a problem with high idle and bad gas mileage with car. Tech was able to fix it quickly with car running great after work done. Also very good labor rates!

I just really want to say, you guys are great. I had my car serviced 3 times for the same thing and not one of them times, was my brakes actually fixed, as a matter of fact, it added and create other problems with my car. The minute I got my car back from you guys it was a whole new experience. And I feel a lot more secure with my car this winter than last year for sure. Thank you.

My wife and 6 kids and I were stranded with a flat tire, broken rim and badly damaged brake line after an incident about 10 miles outside of Hancock/Houghton. I was able to change to my spare tire but couldn t do anything about the leaking brake fluid. So after a quick phone call, they had someone set out to tow our vehicle (I think the son of the owner) and in less than an hour we were already on the road to Hancock. He was very accommodating, and made space for half of us while the other half of us followed in our other car. On the way, he discussed where we might stay in the meantime and gave great recommendations on where to go, and even dropped us off right at the hotel. After a little while, he said he had checked out the issue and needed to special order a part, but he got the order in just in time to receive it around noon the next day. After we checked out of the hotel, we weren t sure how long it would take to fix it or how much it would cost, but knew there was potential for it to be well over $1,000. We decided to head over to the shop and wait for a little bit, and right around noon we received a phone call that it was ready. After everything was said and done, we were only charged $350 for the fix and the tow combined, and were incredibly thankful for the entire experience. These guys were incredible all across the board and we appreciate the care and empathy they showed all throughout our encounter. A++

Our daughter is 10 hours from home attending Michigan Tech. They could have told us anything & took us to the cleaners, but no. They were quick, honest & very fair priced. Thank You !!

UPDATE 2: It has been several weeks since I called about my rim being scratched up when I watched the young man place it face down on the garage floor before checking the back of the tire for leaks. I was anticipating some sort of follow up on how this issue was going to be resolved, never heard anything, I ve also tried calling several times. I m not sure if I m calling at inconvenient times, but I have not been able to make contact with an actual person. Disappointing because the staff was so friendly and hardworking. I m changing my review to one star because apparently if I want my rim returned to the condition it was in before it got laid face down on the garage floor, I m going to have to pay for that out of my own pocket.UPDATE: What I thought was dirt from hands and tools, is actually scratch marks from when they laid the rim face down on the garage floor. I called today and it sounds like the situation is going to be handled appropriately. I m still upset as I take pride in my vehicle. I was impressed yet again that it wasn t just immediately dismissed.If you are from the area or find yourself in the area and need a tow, work done or gas, go to Dave s!!!!The tow truck driver was the absolute nicest person ever! He went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of and able to make it home that night.The guys in the garage were all super polite and hard working, bouncing between the garage and the full service gas pumps. With out a complaint.So, thank you Dave s for taking care of me and making sure I got home safe! Dylan came all the way north of Copper Harbor where 41 ends down a dirt road to come help me get my spare tire on. We couldn't get it dropped from under my truck. He was amazing! Very friendly, polite and professional. He even took my tire back to the shop even though they were closed at the time to patch my tire! This all on the Sunday of memorial weekend. I can not say how much I appreciate all the help! 10 out of 10 recommend! Thank you Dylan

My boyfriend and I had planned a trip up north. He and I broke up so I decided to go alone. I was just outside of Houghton when my car broke down. I had my car towed to Dave's and, despite how insanely busy they were, they looked at my car so that I'd have an idea of the issue. They let me sit in their lobby for 5 hours waiting for someone from back home to get me, charge my phone, and cry despite making other people uncomfortable. They also gave suggestions on good places to eat within walking distance. Not the best day, week, month but they were all genuinely kind and helpful.

The young gentleman who assisted us in getting our fuel was very friendly and accommodating. Much more personable than the surrounding stations (especially Krist Store #017 - very rude there)!

Dave's has been awesome for our daughter. She drives a '97 Ford Explorer that has seen better days. they have done a wonderful job communicating with us every time she needs to have something fixed/corrected/looked at. Being 10hrs away, we are thankful to have an honest repair shop help out our college student and her beater car. It made it through college thanks to Dave's!!

EXTREMELY rude on the phone when we called with some questions. Not everyone is familiar with state laws or if they were we'd be doing the job ourself not hiring others. Probably dodged a bullet considering how expensive they are according to the reviews. Oh well.

I had a detailed list of 14 annoying issues with my truck that had slowly piled up and had me feeling like my truck was falling apart. I dropped my truck off, they had me text them the list, they called me up with a quote, fixed almost all of them that day (because I told them I had a small budget till pay day) for half the price I thought it would be, gave me a detailed breakdown of everything and what exactly was wrong with the two things they didn t do. They had it done in a few hours and I picked my truck up that day. The office staff was straightforward and easy to deal with. I am beyond impressed at how much this place runs like a well oiled machine. Communication was great. I probably wont ever use another place. On vacation and had a flat tire on a Friday night. They arrived in 15 minutes after I called AAA and changed tire for me. They also took my tire and I went to their shop Saturday morning and it was repaired by 9 am. All staff we very friendly and polite. Great weekend service!! We had a break down while very off grid camping in Copper Harbor, these guys were quick and brave enough to come to our campsite to haul our Yukon to a repair shop. They were awesome and didn't charge us an arm and a leg. Will definitely recommend them!

We arrived in Houghton on vacation and discovered a brake fluid leak. We called Dave s for help and they arrived late in the evening to tow our vehicle to their shop. Within 24 hours they had diagnosed and repaired the issue, allowing us to continue our vacation and relieving a tremendous amount of stress. I needed my tires switched, turns out I needed two wheel bearings. They had great communication with me to let me know what was going on and were super friendly. Took our Jeep in to get the tires swapped and we had the wrong day! Oops! But they said they'd try to get us in anyways and they did. Also, they bagged my old tires so I wouldn't get my jeep dirty! Excellent service, fast and friendly. Fair priced too. Highly recommend.

The people here are amazing. They worked with me while I was in Grand Rapids and my daughters car wouldn't start while she was stuck in Hancock after significant snow storm. They went above and beyond . My only complaint is they are not closer to Grand Rapids where I could use them more often! :)

We live in Metro Detroit, and my daughter is a student at Michigan Tech. I try to take care of all needed car maintenance when she is home, but there have been a few repairs needed while she has been in Houghton. Had a Flat on 4th of July with a �" diameter 5" long rebar, called FORD roadside they sent out Dave's tech was there quickly and had the tire changed in no time, very friendly service. Went in on the 5th, 2 nice young guys opened 15 Min early took tire and were able to repair without any issues. Again they were also Super friendly and Courteous. Dave should be very proud of the way his employees represent his company. I highly recommend.See others complaining about pricing, I was Charged $40 for the repair which I was more than happy to pay. Downstate would've been told it was not repairable, and forced to buy a new tire which I didnt want to do seeing these only had 8k miles on them

They towed my car about two miles to a car repair shop. During either the loading or unloading they cracked my front bumper and tore off a piece of trim on the bottom of my car. When I drove over to their garage to tell them about it they said a plow hit it, which is impossible because the trim was far under the front edge of the vehicle. I explained this to him and the guy said Well if it was some new Mercedes or something we would ve probably been a bit more worried . I would highly recommend never going here, surely it is the last time I ll be there.Service: Car towing

Absolutely top notch establishment!They are a full service pump gas station AND a working garage. They put a full set of 4 tires on my truck in 30 minutes and it was affordable. Not a single complaint.Check them out!!

Dave's Marathon is an honest and recommendable garage and towing service. I will use them again in future. That being said I will not give them five stars. My car broke down on Sunday night, first thing Monday morning I called to have my car towed to their garage to be repaired while I got a ride to work. I got home after five pm to find my car still sitting where I had left it. I called Dave's to find out why they had not picked it up yet and from what I can tell they plain forgot. But after calling this second time they were here in less than twenty minutes. Now Tuesday early afternoon I called to see if they knew why my car would not start and they still had not looked at it. A few hours later they called back, gave me a diagnostic and a price estimate for parts, labor, and towing fee. Wednesday early afternoon my car was ready and running better than it has in months. And the total bill was exactly what they had given as an estimate. Dave's is fair and honest but I did have to wait two and a half days for my car to be repaired.

My daughter's Jeep Liberty developed a flat while she was working at the National Park on Isle Royale. Dave's was great, they scheduled a Sunday morning appointment for her after a late arrival on the Ranger the night before. They were on time and towed the Liberty to the shop and repaired the tire in minimal time so she could get on the road to her next job. Great service, the technician was professional and courteous, and the price was great. Fantastic job, I highly recommend them to anyone needing service in the Houghton area.Service: Tires
