The owner was clearly proud of the fact that he's the 3rd generation of operators! They have me the best price quote of the 3 garages that I consulted and met their quote! Complete suspension overhaul (with the parts I bought) and 100k maintenance. 2 weeks after and I'm very pleased with the results. Bare bones, blue collar atmosphere but they clearly know what they're doing. Highly recommend.

Being a prospective used car buyer, I wanted to exercise prudence and take it to a mechanic to evaluate. I did just that, and sent it to Russ's to look at. As it turns out, while the car overall looked decent enough and reportedly had no problems, Russ's found out this wasn't remotely the case. They did a thorough evaluation and found the underbody was all but totally compromised and even dangerous! Even went so far as to take it for a test drive, and give a full writeup of the car.... all FOR FREE. Unbelievable! I would have been happy to wire money for the evaluation, but they declined.Needless to say these people saved me $1000s on a car that would have likely been a lemon to own due to the general negligence, all for free. Six stars out of five for service. I wouldn't expect free evaluations but even so, they quoted me $20-40 which is more than reasonable and easily undercuts anyone local.

Drove in from Nebraska and NEEDED a brake change asap. Caring team got me right in & they were phenomenal. Got an oil change in the process too. Very reasonable & easier to work with compared to the shops I ve been to back home. These guys rock.

Hands down the best mechanic around and I ve worked for dealerships for 15+ years. Clear communication, high quality work with the best pricing around. No pesky service writers trying to upsell you, you talk to the techs themselves with no BS. What else does a person need?

Was in a wreck, and it didn't seem salvageable. These guys didn't sugar coat it and said there was a possibility I could've screwed my engine up, but they'd do the best they could. They got everything fixed and I just have to get comfortable that my car won't overheat. These guys are honest, and got the job done well and they got the job done before they told me they'd be able to. Overall solid mechanicsServices: Electrical repair, Auto engine tuning

I m new to the area, My cars battery died, I changed it and realized that there was more to it than the battery, I had work that evening and called about 20 repair shops in the area and was turned down by almost all of them telling me the soonest they could fit me in is 2 weeks. Even though Russ s was very busy all day they made the time to work on my car and got it repaired by the end of the day! I cannot recommend these guys enough! Absolutely amazing customer service and service . When those super cold days last week hot, my starter went out . The guy who takes all the calls (Ken?) was super nice . They were able to get my car in the day it broke down! Normally I have to wait 10-12 days for other mechanics to even look at it . Was fixed within 2 days of my phone call .They showed me my old part , along with the new. I was able to talk to the me mechanic who was the one who fixed it , was able to ask if he noticed anything else that caught his eye that might need attention. They kept saying if it was my car, I would.. they actually ended up saving me money because of their honesty . Hats off to the crew there. To me I would rather pay a little more for my car to be fixed asap. Instead it was less than I expected and it was done faster than any car shop I have dealt with in the past 15 years. Highly recommend

Russ's is the BEST! They are so friendly. Being a female, it is hard to know who to trust with your vehicle needs! They were fair, honest and went above and beyond to get my car running again! I certainly appreciate all of the guys there! Excellent knowledge and great service! Thank you!

Excellent service from all the guys here. My sister and I have been going here with our vehicles since around 2011-2012 and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Highly recommend.

This is the most honest, trustworthy garage I've ever gone too. Even though I moved off the Westside 3 years ago, I still go see the guys at Russ"s garage. Paul helped me out the other day when I needed my car looked at so I could sell it. They were swamped, but he still found time to squeeze me in and I appreciate that, especially when everyone else was saying they didn't know when they would have time. Now I remember just why I stick with Russ" s Service Garage. Keep up the good work guys!!

I hardly ever post reviews, but I had to today. I woke up this morning to a flat tire on my 2003 Ford Ranger. I looked up places near by and Russ's Service Garage was one links that showed up on google. It was 2 minutes from my place. I drove my truck in and met Jordan, one of the mechanics. I asked him how much it would cost to patch the tire up, to which he responded $35. I was very happy that they weren't going to try to upsell me on new tires, and that the price was very affordable. Jordan took the tire off and informed me that the tire wasn't flat and that it just needed a new valve stem. He did the work in 10 minutes and charged me $25. Great service, timely work, and a very fair price. I got this all done on the same morning I realized my tire was flat, and was able to make it to work on time because of Jordan.Service: Tires

I worked with Bill on getting a second opinion about a $2,500+ repair estimate from a local dealership. Bill s honest opinion was that none of the work needed to be done. He spent an hour on my car and follow up conversation with me and did not charge me ANYTHING! When I do need work done, he will get a call. It s rare these days to find such an honest person! I m grateful for his advice and would recommend Russ s Auto without hesitation!!

So I had some issues with my car, and my friend Stacey said try these guys they worked on her cars, her family's cars, and another friends car. I made a appointment, and didn't even get threw a breakfast out and they helped me make sure my car was in good condition to travel after I had a slide off, and I had issues after tow truck yanked my car out. Between all the people i asked, I'd say they gave me the same fast friendly service everyone else got. So Thanks to the all the Guys!

My parents went to Russ' before I was even born- they still go there today and my wife and I go there for everything. I don't have to worry about if the work is done right because they are very thorough and the pricing has always been great. Everyone that works there has always been really nice and caring. We have about 15 other choices by our house and we still take the time to bring our vehicles 20 minutes away to Russ'.

Prefer this shop over any in the Grand Rapids area. Good group of employees. The guys are always honest and do great work while being reasonably priced. Highly recommend for students as well (discount because everyone knows how broke we are). I will continue to have my vehicles serviced here and recommend them to all my friends. Two thumbs up fellas

Your search for the perfect mechanic shop has ended. I've been taking my road warrior to them for over a year now. These guys are the best of the best. Fair, accurate, fast, knowledgeable, and honest. Coming into Grand Rapids from out of town, I realized I had some tire issues. Based on reviews, I called Russ s, and they were able to get me in the next morning. Great old fashioned service. Keep set appointments, good communication, fair prices, clean work environment. Would recommend them especially if you have an older car and want it repaired with aftermarket market parts so you can save money.

I have been to Russ's many times. There have been a couple issues, such as tire lugs being over tightened, and another time my timing belt was put on a notch off. This caused issues, they told me to change my plugs, which I did and it did not remedy the issue. They went in and fixed it. I have taken other cars there for repairs and have had good experiences. I would recommend, they are 4 star worthy and they meet a budget.To Russ's Managers, I would suggest more Quality Control checks before handing the vehicle off.

I had recently bought a van that I knew needed some repairs. The previous owner told me itvwas going to be close to $600 or $700. Not having my own mechanic, I researched and found Russ's garage. They got me in the same day, fixed the problem, and out the door for a fraction of the previous quote! Everyone had a great attitude, not like most garages where everyone looks unhappy. I won't go anywhere else. Honest and fair is huge! Thanks guys!

Great service! My 1998 Subaru Legacy had a squeaky belt and they had it fixed in about two hours at a very fair price. They explained everything they did and why they were doing it. Even threw in a student discount.

Great super knowledgeable staff who knew the make and model of my car immediately and things too look out for with it. Gave us a full new car inspection absolutely for free and were very friendly and walked us through even potential issues down the road. Would definitely recommend!

I had a bushing pressed in and it was the most painless experience ever. I really enjoyed their friendliness and willingness to work with me. I'll forsure will be coming back for any of my needs with such great pricing and customer service.

This place is the best!!!! Fast, Honest, and they do excellent work. They communicate well informing you of your repair options and show you the broken parts and why it failed. If it doesn't need repair they will let you know about it, but only repair what is absolutely needed to get your back on the road. Time and time again they continue to prove themselves worthy of repeat business. Doing business with them for almost 20 years.
