Thanks to Mike in helping brainstorm upgrades to be able to comfortably tow our new 39' travel trailer. We concluded on 4.56 gears, billet torque converter and dual Hayden transmission coolers. Thanks to Josh for ordering the parts, getting the right differential locker and custom built billet torque converter. Thanks to Casey in keeping me updated on the build process. Stock 3.55 gears, 36" tires, stock transmission/converter and single Hayden 20klb cooler the transmission ran 200-230 degrees towing 5,500lb Jayco Jayflight from Hudsonville to Traverse City. We now tow 10,500lb Jayco Eagle comfortably at 160-165 degrees with more in the power band of the 5.7 Hemi and 1 mile per gallon improvement. LOL go figure! Thanks gentlemen! 5 stars doesn't do justification 10+! Rod

Kaz Transmissions is one of THE BEST shops I have ever received service from in my life. They are very nice and are here for you as their customer and not the paycheck! I can't put into words how caring they are to you as their customer and they care for your vehicle as if it was their own. They are super reasonable and honest! They fixed my truck in a very nice timely manner as well and it was all done professionally. They also have VERY GOOD communication! Some of the best I've seen! Don't look anywhere else. I promise, you won't regret getting your services done at this shop!

The KAZ team diagnosed my issue in a professional and timely manner. Tip of the hat to Casey and my Tech Nolan for tracking it down and fixing all the issues, and to Casey for helping to ease my anxiety, great job guys and we thank you for your excellent service!

The guys were really nice here! I brought my vehicle here to service my transmission. I was told by another shop that my transmission was slipping, indicating I needed another transmission. So I took it to Kaz. Kaz told me that they couldn't find anything wrong with my vehicle and assumed my computer in my transmission needed replacement. Fast forward two months later my car is doing the same thing. I called to let them know and was told to bring it there. I wanted to get a second opinion, so I took it across the street the Bobs Transmissions. They were able to identify the problem, which was I had needed a new transmission. Within a week Bob's Transmission replaced my transmission with a brand new one and now my car is great. I'm unsure why Kaz couldn't find the issue. But as I mentioned the people their was very nice!Reply to Kaz: I admit I say across the street however, that's my view of it even though your about a good mile or two away from Bob's and located on the same street opposite sides. It's ok if you don't remember me, however it was your shop I went to. I was dealing with Casey (KC) the entire time with my transmission repair. As I mentioned before you all are very nice people! But my transmission was bad and it wasn't fixed. I even mentioned to you guys that the shop before I came to you said my transmission was slipping. You guys said you would check it out. You guys said you couldn't find anything wrong but replace the computer inside the transmission. Two months later the same issue occurred. I'm just happy I had a third opinion which helped a lot! And I'm so happy the issue was actually fixed.Service: Transmission

They are very knowledgeable and honest. Have been having an issue with my transmission that was installed by a out of town shop. They have been great in helping to diagnose.

Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Had a transmission put into my 2015 explorer. Been a few weeks, so far so good. Warranty offered on workmanship, hopefully I'll never know how good they are with warranty work though. Highly recommend them to anyone in need of drive line repairs.

Without a doubt the nicest experience I have ever had dealing with a repair shop. They have rebuilt a transmission and done suspension work on 2 of my jeeps. They not only repair off road vehicles, but they live the lifestyle.They are great people. Can't say enough good things.

I d like to be able to leave an honest review of Kaz Transmission s service and quality. But unfortunately I can t because they ve had my car for more than 3 weeks now, and so I have no idea how their workmanship is, or even when I ll ever get my car back. It started out as a one week job they quoted me. Then 1 week turned into 2. And then 2 weeks turned into 3. And then the 3 week mark came and went with yet another obstacle to the rebuilt transmission. I ve had to call them or email a dozen times since the beginning, and every time it s something new. First it was an oil pump. Then it was an engine sensor. Then it was a cyllanoid. If I would ve known going into this that it would turn into this anxiety-producing neverending nightmare of delays and frustration, I would ve driven my car right off the side of a cliff and bought a brand new one instead. Never again! Every day I m without my car it becomes harder and harder to get by. I really don t know what I am going to do at this point.Service: Transmission

Not being from the West Michigan area, I found it hard to find a car repair shop that I could trust that reminded me of the mom and pop shops I knew of back home, yet Kaz Transmission provided just that. After breaking down on the side of the road due to what I believed was a blown transmission, they took in my vehicle and looked it over within 24 hours.They were also very honest in their diagnosis, and I was lucky to have only run out of gas due to a flighty gas gauge. They could have told me I needed a new transmission and I wouldn't have known any better, yet they were honest and kind and I ended up spending under $70 for everything. They never pushed any extra services on me, and were just phenomenal!I will definitely be coming back to them while in West Michigan for all of my car needs, and recommending them to everyone!

Honestly I will never take my vehicles anywhere else if I don't have to. These guys are seriously the best! They have done so much for me and they make sure everything is done right. They are the most trustworthy place around here in Grand Rapids. I drive across town for their services. You will not be disappointed with them at all!! Thank You guys for everything!!! :)

Very disappointed in Kaz's customer service. I brought a 1969 Camaro in to get the rear end looked at. I was told up front that it would be a $100 inspection fee that would be applied to any work - which was fine. I had poor communication with Kaz from the start - I initiated all contact (no calls with updates from the shop) and from the start I got the sense I was wasting their time. I received a verbal quote for $1,700 at the close of business one day and when I stopped by for a written quote the next morning I was treated like I was asking for something unheard of. Finally got something somewhat legible in writing but that had the completely wrong gear ratio listed from what I discussed the night before. Again, was treated like I was crazy for thinking the correct gear ratio should be written down. In the end, I decided not to give them my business - more because of the way I was treated and what that tells me about their shop than because of the cost. When I called to confirm my car was ready, I was told that it would be $190. Apparently the $100 quote for the inspection didn't include putting the rear end back together - guess that only covered taking it apart and a box for the parts! I paid it just to be done with Kaz and consider it a $190 lesson. I won't make that mistake again!

This place was awesome - they've got my business and referrals for life! I bought a used car less than 8 months ago. Happened to purchase a powertrain warranty with it. I've had nothing but issues with this car since I purchased it. Latest issue being the transmission. I had it at another shop for almost a whole week (these guys were great, too) and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it outside of diagnosing a probable transmission issue - referred me to Kaz. BEST thing that could have happened. When I finally got my car to Kaz I was almost ridiculously upset --- cried at the front counter as I've missed so much work, and frustrated that I was looking at having to pay ALOT of money if my warranty company wanted to shirk the costs (which alot of them do). Josh at Kaz handled me with such respect and regard to my situation. He was confident that he would be able to take care of me -- and made me confident too. I dropped my car off and no more than 30 minutes later he called me to tell me that he's already initiated everything with the warranty company and knew what was wrong with my car. He called to inform me and to let me know that he's going to take care of me. They were able to get me covered for a rebuild, not just a band aid on the transmission. Now I'm covered by their warranty and have peace of mind. They made this whole process easy. All this was done in less than a week! They made me feel like they cared about me. I will send all my friends and family here!

They did a good job fixing my transmission. Even when I had a warranty issue two weeks later, they fixed with no hassles or hoops to jump through. I would go back again if needed - I only hope I never have the need.

I brought my 99 F250 Super Duty in to have the transmission rebuilt. Right from the get-go they were knowledgeable, courteous, friendly, and importantly... Fast. I am so happy to have my work truck back on the road the same week. Thanks guys!

This is the best place to go if you have any problem with transmission, suspension, and steering. They saved me when I was on a job site in reed city I blew out a wheel bearing. So I got a ride back to Grand Rapids talked to them about it they Told me to remove the wheel hub and bring it in and they would repack it for me. Then I hit another snag the bearing was fused to the spindal. And they took even more time and explained to me how to take off the steering assembly they found and overnighted the part and put it all back together for me. But even more amazing they told me when I get my truck back on the road to bring it in so the can make sure that I put it back together right. So after driving it back from reed city I pulled in and they met me in the parking lot and josh ( the owners son) drove my truck right into there shop and checked it over for me.And they when I got the bill I was amazed because of how amazing the price was and at the same time I was treated like family and they really take care of you there. One of the most amazing places to be and I can't wait to take my truck in to have then beef up my suspension.

Saved me $1,155. Here is my story, mid-December 2017 my 2008 Subaru Forester starting making a new sound while slowing down, sound not related to engine as it never made sound while in park. I took it to Bob's Transmission and their estimate was $1,200 for the differential. Took it to Kaz Transmission and they actually put it up on the hoist and found there was no oil in differential, they filled it up for $45. I wanted to wait till mid-February to write my review, the sound is better but I can still hear it but good news the car has not given me any other problems! Update 11-26-18, subaru still going, sound is the same, no worse no better.Kaz is honest and saved me $1,155 = $1,200 - $45 fluid fill.PS. Kaz said my seals looked fine and they could not explain why my fluid was empty, asked if I had a recent oil change as sometimes new oil changers will drain wrong fluid, sure enough just before the sound happened I had an oil change.

Kaz Transmissions is a fast, efficient, and honest company. Several years ago, I tried a different transmission shop right down the street which was a big mistake which I won't elaborate on here. Moral of the story: Don't always go for the cheapest price. Should have went with Kaz from the beginning.

The best around had 2 vehicle repaired by them 2 and 3 years ago haven't had a problem with them since. These guys are Honest, knowledgeable, caring, all around great people. Will recommend them to anyone.

Brought in a vehicle that was giving me some periodic transmission issues. They drove the vehicle and attempted to diagnose the issue for over an hour and did not charge me nor recommend any unnecessary repairs. Unfortunately, they weren't able to diagnose it since the problem(s) didn't manifest when they had it, but that is absolutely no fault of their own. It's hard to find a mechanic that doesn't b.s. you or try to sell you on something, but that wasn't the case here. Will be going to Kaz for any future issues given their honesty and awesome customer service!

I always prefer to support local guys, even if they don't necessarily have access to the same amount of inventory as the bigger stores, and I'm willing to wait around if they don't have the staff... Neither of those are a concern with these guys. I'm so glad I decided to walk in their front door. They treated me great, got the work done in a timely manner and it cost me LESS than it would have elsewhere. What more could you ask for?

Best place in town to go. I'm a mechanic myself and have worked in a transmission shop before. These guys are extremely knowledgeable, and will even explain to you what went wrong. Just trust me

Kaz put a new clutch and flywheel in my 85 Chevy pickup. Had a few hiccups to be expected but Kaz did the most important thing a shop can, stood by their work and made sure the truck got back on the road. There are plenty of places that will work on your vehicle. Not nearly as many that will hold themselves to the gold standard like Kaz.

This is by far the best transmission and repair shop you will ever find. Outstanding work as well as customer service. If you want reliable quality work, where you can trust the mechanics. This is the best place to go.

Fair prices, and great work. Had them rebuild my rear diff, months later it started having issues again, and then repaired it free of charge. Will definitely be bringing them more work in the future.

I would like to thank the guy's at Kaz for great service. Fast, courteous, up front and helpful. They did not try to sell me anything I did not need but did recommend some options for the repairs that i needed. I really appreciated the input. would recommend them any day.

I took my car there and they could not find anything wrong with my car, but they did not charge me anything to look at it. Also provided a loaner car for the day so I could get to work. Great experience, would definitely go there again!
