John is the BEST. They're the only mechanic I've ever found who has been 100% honest and straightforward, and also incredibly kind. They have never tried to upsell me on unnecessary repairs, and their prices are unbeatable. Plus, if you're an established customer, they typically won't charge you an inspection fee, unlike other places that charge $90+ just to look at your car. I can't talk them up enough.

I always bring my car here for work, the owner is an honest mechanic and I trust him with fixing my car, or sending me to the right place to fix it if it s a repair that they don t specialize in. My first choice mechanic in GR

Went to J&H auto for a new exhaust and muffler system on my subaru outback. They charged $1000 for parts and labor but told me there was lifetime warranty. Turns out they used the cheapest possible aftermarket parts and couple years later they were all rusted out and now the warranty is apparently only on the mufflers and want to charge me another $1100+ to fix. Parts online are $400 for STAINLESS STEEL which they should have used in the first place... go somewhere else if you need car work done. These guys use cheap parts and over charge. I'm now out $1000 and have to pay someone else to fix the same issue after only 4 to 5 years. Feels like I was robbed and taken advantage of.Services: Exhaust, Auto exhaust system repair

Easily the most honest, fairly priced mechanic in the area, if not Grand Rapids. He tells you what you need, doesn't try to talk you into unnecessary repairs or charge you for simple projects. And best of all, he does a good job. I would and have recommended John at J&H to almost all of my friends in the area. Can't beat convince and fair pricing. It also helps he's a good guy.

John is the best! He initially replaced my thermostat a year ago. He fixed my brakes at my last visit and noted my car wasn't putting out sufficient heat so he put a new thermostat in and flushed the system for free. Just a good business run by a great man.

I was blown away by the service, honesty, and hard work John put into fixing my car! For the first time in Grand Rapids, a mechanic listened to me when I asked him to drive it around the block before looking at it. He was able to diagnose the issues I was talking about and fixed them very quickly. John is awesome!

Very friendly mechanic here. You can tell his focus is on people and service. He has great interpersonal skills. I have never been overcharged or felt like I was being taken advantage of. This is my go to place if I need work done on my car. It is quick, reasonably priced and has a family feel to it. I have had work down on my air conditioner and had my my cruise control function fixed here. It really is a neighborhood garage.

John was extremely friendly and helpful with my car problems! I was told he'd have a diagnosis on my car by noon, and by 10:30am he already had a diagnosis and was working on the issue! It was fixed up and ready to go by 11:30, and John was more than willing to work with me on a time to pick it up after work. A great local place with knowledgeable and friendly people, and very fair prices. You have my recommendation, thank you so much!

This is the best auto shop I have ever been to. I started going in college when I took my car to Firestone to get fixed and they said it would be $2000 and I took it here on a recommendation and it was $500 for the same fix. Since then I have only been treated fairly and everything is done in a timely manner. No complaints ever. Always willing to put in a headlight for me or check out my car for no cost. THE BEST PLACE IN TOWN!

We've been taking our vehicles to J and H for many years. He always gives us a fair deal. We started going there because all my co-workers were taking their vehicles there and recommended it. John runs the place and he is very honest and trustworthy. After many years of doing business with John at J and H Automotive, we would highly recommend him.

I am so mad at myself for not coming here years ago! I live and work in the neighborhood, and am so glad to have an honest and fair, quick and quality mechanic so close by. He (I think his name is John?) was prompt in returning my call (I called after close, he called back the next morning), friendly, honest, and didn't talk down to me like a lot of mechanics tend to do to young women. My car was fixed shortly after I dropped it off, and for a fair price. I have multiple friends who have brought their cars here as well, and each of them was equally as pleased. Highly recommend!

I moved to GR a little over a year ago and have been having lot's of issues with my car. I tried several different auto repair shops in the area, felt like I was getting ripped off at each one. Luckily I found J & H Automotive, John has been the most reliable and trust worthy mechanic I've had yet! I really appreciate that he's completely honest and doesn't try to convince me that I need unnecessary repairs. Fair prices too!

Hands down the most honest and trustworthy mechanic I have ever taken my vehicles too. He uses quality parts and charges a very fair price. Never tries to up sell me on things that are not needed, but will let me know what to plan for in the near future for repair. He makes you feel like a valuable customer and appreciated.

John at J & H is AMAZING! I used to take my car to Veenstra's...DO NOT TAKE IT HERE! They're crooks who gave me faulty parts and then told me I should have paid for something better. Someone told me to go to J & H and I've never looked back. He's trustworthy, fair, and always helps out in a pinch...even filling up my tires mid winter when they were low. I wouldn't trust my car anywhere else.

Best experience I have ever had taking my car in for a basic oil change and tire rotation. Typically the places I have gone to, they constantly make it seem/ push you that you have all these things wrong with your car. I have taken my cars to John for as long as he has been at his present location (20 years ?). I cannot imagine anywhere one could get better service. John is knowledgeable, inexpencive and is also a very kind soul. I highly recommend him.

John is overall just a good human being. He was honest and suggested I go elsewhere for a lower price for my truck. I would trust him to work on any of my vehicles. If you need anything worked on he is the guy.

John is a great guy and a straight shooter. Even though I've moved out of Easttown I still drive my vehicles to him because he's the most trustworthy mechanic i've found in this area.He can't always do the major overhaul stuff, but will recommend another honest place that does anything he cant.

I got an oil change at one of those quick drive thrus and they cut one of my spark plugs with the oil cap. I stopped by on the way back and John had it replaced within an hour. Highly recommend!!!!

By far the most honest, reasonably priced mechanic I have found in the Grand Rapids area. There is no one else I would bring my car to for the majority of repairs. I'd recommend John to anyone

I have taken my cars to J & H for two years and they are reasonably priced and efficient. Most of all they do only what is necessary to fix the problem. I highly recommend them!
