I'm satisfied with scheduled maintenance service work on my van recently. A shuttle would have been nicer. The parts availability delayed the work & two trips, however good work and competitive pricing.

Helpful, honest, and professional. I have always been happy with the service I've gotten here. From simple maintenance, to problems that required a little more I've left felling good about my experiences there. I also really appreciate their level of communication, as well as their shuttle.

Left airport with rental and tire pressure light came on. Kurt and Andrew were quick to take a look and assure me all was well. I was able to get on my way without having to go all the way back to airport, which was great after traveling all morning cross country. It s nice to know there are still friendly, helpful people in the world!

First time using Dykstras Auto. They fixed the squealing brakes on my van and did a well-priced oil change. Very timely service and have no complaints. Will definitely go back next time the need arises!

Read all of the low reviews before you think about coming here. They showed no real care about my car or my experience - offered unreasonable sales pitches. It seems as if they are struggling to make their sales ever since they moved across from the airport. Never fixed my check engine light after I spent good money with them to fix it. They refused to make it right. They advised me to continue driving with my check engine light. The sales people at this location seem to operate out of desperation in order to meet a financial quota. Beware.*editTheir management won t return calls as with other reviews here. I ve spent good money on this issue after 2020. For them to leave this response is beyond odd. Like I said read the other reviews and beware.

Great knowledgeable staff here. When my Ford truck was doing weird stuff like not allowing shifts out of park, these guys hunted down the elusive cause and fixed it. Nice facility, friendly service writers, great techs. A++

This is an edit of my original review. I had them look over a car I wanted to buy. They missed a couple of things that I noticed but also noticed some mechanical things I missed and were happy to offer an opinion. I'd give it 4 .However, once they get ahold of your phone and email they tend to nag you a lot and you need to request they remove you, which they did. To me, this is annoying enough to take them down one more but some people might appreciate their constant reminders for all your auto needs. So I'll just leave them at 4 star and leave you with a warning to request they not contact you with unsolicited offers and reminders.See my original review below. I promised to edit my review on the condition they ask before sending all sorts of ads to customers. They did not promise to do so but only removed me from their list. So they get a partial edit.NOTICE! They will forever plague you with gimmicky texts and emails.Once your phone and email are in their system, you'll never stop getting reminders for all your potential auto needs. It's been a real pain for the last five months.Other than that, no real problems with this place. All they did was inspect a car. They missed some things but found a thing or two I didn't too. Not real impressed. But acceptable.I will happily edit my rating if Dykstra promises to ASK before bombarding customers with text and email. That's what earns them one start.

I usually don't like writing negative reviews about automotive shops as a mechanic myself. I was passing through town, when my car started running hot. It had a coolant leak. I took it to Dykstra's to be diagnosed, and have the car repaired. I paid 75 bucks for the diagnosis. They told me that the car was leaking from the timing cover. A $1500 repair. They also felt the need to inform me of the other things that the car needed; if I elected to let them do everything they suggested to my car, the total repair bill would've been nearly 3000. More than a car was worth. I managed to get the car home, checking, coolant the whole way whenever I got it back to my garage, and had the opportunity to get a good look at it, I discovered it was merely the water pump that was leaking. This is normally a $500 repair at most shops. The car has not leak coolant since. I'm not sure if this is a case of intentional miss diagnosis to be able to sell a more expensive repair, or a mistake. Considering that this is a professional shop, run by professional mechanics, I would consider either scenario inexcusable.

Nothing but positive experiences at Dykstra's Auto. Derek and Shawn have worked with me on all repairs, and they have kept me informed with assessments on my car. The whole team is incredibly knowledgeable and great communicators. I had some fairly involved repairs that required new parts to be fabricated, so I took advantage of their loaner car program for a few days. It is such a convenience. The digital vehicle inspection reports are also quite insightful. Overall, Dykstra's Auto is certainly a trustworthy business, and they will keep you on the road.

Dykstra s took good care of my Mini Cooper. They did an alignment and were very friendly and professional from the handling of the appointment to pick up. I m happy to have found an alternative to the dealer for my older car.

The breaks on my car were starting to grind. I called Dykstra s and they were able to get me in right after the holiday. They had everything fixed the same day that we dropped it off. Definitely recommend Dykstra s!!

Had issues with my Jeep - twice - battery issues and a misfire. Both time the team was extremely responsive and helpful through out the process. Carvana ended up paying for the majority of the expenses but the quality of work is superb! I rather take my car here than a certified Jeep dealership. ThanksSo much for you amazing service!!

Had a lengthy/cumbersome list of items for them to take care of which they did at a reasonable cost and in a timely manner.The 5 star rating is 90% due to them fully warrantying the cost to fix a portion of an expensive repair that they had done over a year & 35k mikes ago.I m a picky SOB and they have earned my business.Services: Auto exhaust system repair, Transmission repair

Can't help but feel ripped off. My Honda Civic battery warning light turned on. Took it to Dykstra Auto on Patterson/44th St SE in Kentwood, MI. They promptly replaced the alternator, which I appreciated, even though it cost over $600. Then less than 4 minutes down the road the battery warning light turned back on! I get it, mistakes happen, but had they charged the battery I could have at least made it home. So I limp back to the shop. I ask for a loaner and they say they don't do loaners! How do I get home? They then offer to take me to GRR Airport where they'll reimburse a rental. I appreciate that, but I travel a lot for work and a Preferred Avis member...I don't want to wait an additional hour or more for a rental at the airport. They then agree to cover my LYFT ride home, which was $66. They never reimbursed me. They say it's covered in the "discounted" price they gave me for the SECOND alternator repair. I look at the itemized receipt, and it does not show any such reimbursement. They then charge me an additional $250+ for the SECOND repair, saying it's only for the cost of the OEM part. I get it, OEM parts are expensive, but this whole experience has left me sour. Am I mad at them or cars in general? I'm gonna say both. This tells me they didn't make good on a botched job.

Today while visiting Dykstra's auto, the front desk representative kirk delivered a very saddening experience. During previous visits to this location, I would get a call and a price point before making any decisions. Unfortunately there was work done on my vehicle without permission and I was almost charged for it. When I asked how come this was the case, I was faced with aggression and the question was deflected. Dykstra's auto does great work, and really saved me in the past, but because of this poor experience today, I wont be coming back.Service: Vehicle Inspection

Would not recommend, they charge a fair labor rate but have a 3 - 4 times mark up on their parts and will not allow you to bring in your own parts either. I was also quoted refurbished parts that were still triple the amount of new OEM prices, even from the dealership.I then asked the advisor at the front desk if we could have any additional discount as we were looking at thousands in repairs but he would not go down a dollar and said those are his best prices. I ended up going to another local shop and avoided $400 in part price mark ups.

Had an exhaust bolt break and was initially just looking for the bolt. Dykstra s provided the bolts and when I was unable to get the old bolts out they were able to get me in the next day and make short work of the issue.Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

I would recommend Dykstra for any automotive need. Honest. Knowledgeable. The only place I go. I am talking about the location nearest the airport. I have not had good experiences at the location at Stauffer and 44th.

Dykstra s Auto is great and I would recommend them to anyone. Everyone on their staff has been honest, knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. They diagnosed and repaired my last issue quickly at a fair price. They also found a transmission fluid leak that they covered under warrantee at no cost to me. Have had a fee different vehicles serviced here over the past few years. Always very professional and accommodating. Prices are always in line with other independent shops. Love the free shuttle too. Will definitely be back.
