Great experience with Pat and the service Ambrose provided. Having a child away at school, and being across the state, it was great to find this auto repair shop nearby. Felt very comfortable with the diagnosis, quote and repair process. They did a fantastic job for us. Experienced prompt and great work on the repair to my kid's vehicle to get them back on the road at school again. Would definitely use them again and recommend to others.Service: Engine repair

I knew what I was asking when I drove in and only needed a tire repair. It wasn t a big money maker for them, but it was very important to me. The man I talk to, probably the owner, just looked at me and said We ll get it done and he did promptly! Man, that s the kind of service that brings customers back. Thanks, guys. Incredible work on my jeep! Had it in the same day the alternator broke and out within a few hours. Went out of his way to spot other concerns too that weren't related to the alternator troubles! Car runs incredible now! Very good rates highly recommend this shop to everyone!!!

We had brought it in because it was the preferred shop for our warranty and they were thorough and fair with everything. I have taken multiple vehicles to Ambrose Auto for multiple different reasons over the course of the last two years. Pat and his team are the best around. They are knowledgeable, fair, and friendly. I never have to worry about being overcharged or receiving service that is anything less than amazing. We feel super lucky to have found such a spot.

I wanted to find a mechanic close to home but only had the positive reviews I read to go on. I'm soo glad I found Ambrose - honest, great work and fair pricing. I will definitely continue bringing my car to Pat and his crew!! Highly recommend!!

After running over something that caused significant damage to the underside of my vehicle, including fuel tank damage that resulted in a serious gas leak, I needed fast, quality repairs to get my vehicle back on the road so I could travel to and from work. Pat was able to provide those repairs for a fair price and great turnaround time when I took my car in on a Monday, he said he was booked about a week out but could get it done by that Friday. I got a call early morning that Wednesday saying the fuel tank repair was done! I ended up needing an additional repair and Pat got that done the following Monday. I hope not to have further issues with my car, but if anything comes up I will gladly return to Ambrose Auto, because the pricing and speed of completion were excellent. I ll also recommend this shop to anyone I meet in the area who needs auto repairs. Very glad I chose this local, independent business for my auto repair needs!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Visted back in October after my alternator bit the dust. These guys took my car in and within a business week, it was ready to go. Pretty fair prices as well. These guys are the best in the area!

It's not often that someone finds a neighborhood mechanic that operates with such integrity and fairness as Ambrose Auto. I have had multiple dealings with Patrick and he is excellent. Pat is extremely knowledgeable, honest and takes responsibility for the quality of his work.Quick Story:I took my vehicle to multiple places around Grand Rapids to get my exhaust repaired. Every place I went too just wanted to change parts and charge me close to a thousand dollars for the repair. I took my vehicle to Ambrose Auto where Pat diagnosed and repaired the issue quickly. Best part? Pat stated that no parts actually needed to be changed and that the repair could be completed with some minor welding. At the end of the day my car ran great and pat only charged an hour of labor saving me a lot of cash!Now, I recommend all my family, friends and co-workers to Pat of Ambrose Automotive.Pat has already provided the same stellar service to one of my co-workers.For those reading the one star reviews, pertaining to Ambrose's untimeliness with repairs. One thing to keep in mind is that Pat is very busy, due to his high quality service he has an enormous amount of jobs to complete any given day of the week. Just follow up with Pat if you dont hear from him during the day and he will always give you a status update.

Leaving a review 6 years after service. I was recommending a mechanic in the Grand Rapids area and immediately thought of my experience with Pat. Pat worked on a few of my cars in college and his professionalism and quality of work is second-to-none. After I graduated I had an interview in Chicago and had to get to in the morning. Pat stopped at a parts store before it opened, opened his shop a hour early on a Saturday, and got my car ready to roll in time for my interview. It goes without saying, his care for his clients left a lasting impression and I will always recommend him for anyone looking for repair/service in the GR area.Services: Transmission, Steering & suspension repair, Engine repair

Ambrose Automotive & Service Repair has provided by far the best service out of any mechanic I have been to. Pat and staff are super friendly. You can rest assured you will be treated fairly, and only necessary things will be repaired on you car. I will continue to bring my cars here and recommend everyone to do the same.

In my opinion, this is best auto shop in all of Grand Rapids. Pat (the owner) and the staff are honest, trustworthy, and dependable. I moved to Grand Rapids and sought out a new mechanic. After trying 1 or 2 places I was lucky enough to find Ambrose Auto. My SUV was in need of a major repair and Pat was awesome at showing me all my opinions and sharing his honest opinion. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the area.

I was truly impressed with the service here. I was told by my car dealership that multiple things were wrong with my car and needed fixed and they even so generously gave me a jaw dropping estimate for these services. Luckily I took my car into Ambrose for a second opinion and got the truth from them that half the things the dealership said were wrong with my car were in fact not in need of repair. As a young female who doesn't know much about cars, I would highly recommend Ambrose to everyone as they do not take advantage of customers. I will most definitely be returning when something actually needs repaired! That same day they were able to fit me in for a transmission flush at a VERY reasonable price.

I had went to Ambrose to get a rebuilt Transmission put in my 06 Mountaineer and I can't say enough about Pat and the guys at Ambrose!! The work they do is great and I've never had any issues with anything they've done for me!! Ambrose Auto is a smaller family shop witch means the pricing is very fair and affordable!! way cheaper than the larger chain shops. Even though there a smaller shop they still do it all. For me the most important thing about Ambrose is that Pat's an honest guy and hes not going to try and sell you things you don't need just to make a buck. They explain everything that's needed and really help you understand exactly what they are going to do to get your vehicle fixed and driving again! I would more than recommend Ambrose Automotive to any Friends and Family looking for a mechanic or just an Oil change!

First time having Ambrose automotive work on my car & it won t be the last!! Super friendly staff & not trying to rip you off - although I had already diagnosed the problem, they didn t try & sell more labor/parts than needed.. which is super reassuring. Extremely fair pricing & Made paying convenient - they even left my keys in it for an easy ( & especially in these weird times, no contact ) pickup.Thanks again guys!!

I've finally found an auto repair shop that I can trust. I dealt with Patrick. Extremely knowledgeable and professional. My vehicle has almost 165000 miles on it, and he has it running like brand new. Recommend this business to anyone who values auto maintenance.

Pat is the man. He always has lower prices than other mechanics, gets it done quickly and thoroughly. With our most recent experience, rather than fixing the superficial problem we noticed that the dealership diagnosed (we were hoping it'd be covered by a recall) pat diagnosed the underlying causes and saved us money by not needing to do the same repair in a months time. The best, most honest, professional mechanic I've ever had.

Never been to a better Automotive repair! Patrick was super nice, answered my questions, and tried to give me the cheapest/best options. He explained everything to me clearly, and showed me all the parts that were replaced. My total repair cost even came out a little cheaper than what was quoted and all their prices are more than fair and possibly the cheapest I've seen. I'll be going back there in a heart beat if anything happens to my car.

I moved out here and was in need of a repair shop and these guys are awesome! So helpful! They always try to do what s best for the customer. I recommend them for any car issues. They have fixed small things on my Dodge Charger and big things on my ford ranger.

I strongly recommend Ambrose automotiveThere's a reason everyone has rated this place 5 stars... I came here for an oil change and found an authentic owner who is friendly and knowledgeable. Pat will talk things through with you at the level you know. He's not pushy about getting work done and does not pressure you to do anything, just inform you of your options and his experience.I decided to go here because it as in my neighborhood and I wanted to have a local mechanic I could trust for any needs I might have.. and he's earned my trust so far.- He's had his shop for 6 years- Certified techs who he both knows and has worked with.- Not looking to 'make money' on the basic routine maintenance you need (cheapest oil change in my area actually, about $23).

I called Ambrose Automotive and told Pat Ambrose what was going on. Pat is the best. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, HONEST and fair priced. When I first called him and explained what was going on he talked to me for a good 20 minutes EVEN THOUGH he is a very busy man. He never tried to rush me off the phone. He had a new transmission ordered and put in within a week just like he said he would. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AMBROSE AUTOMOTIVE FROM NOW ON I WILL TAKE BOTH MY VEHICLES HERE FOR ALL WORK. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL MY FAMILY, FRIENDS AND ANYONE THAT IS LOOKING FOR A FRIENDLY,HONEST AND KNOWLEDGE MECHANIC. LOOK NO.FURTHER PAT AMBROSE IS THE MAN.
