The service at Grand Haven Tuffy was great. I would not hesitate to return for car service. The advice for repairs was straightforward, there wasn't any overselling of extra work, the car work was done in the time frame they specified, the shop was clean, and the men at the service counter were knowledgeable and courteous. When I drove off the Tuffy parking lot, my car was repaired and working fine.

I've been here many times! Today was just one of the many ways that they treat you well! It starts with the first phone call, they try to help, with any problems, and to get you in, there are never any hidden, added charges, they are completely upfront on what to expect, and what they found, or, did not find on your car! You'll be doing the right thing when you make the appointment, you will be safe, when you leave, the price is usually less, than you think, as well! They help you feel like you are in control, of your car maintenance, with them! Just very fair, honest, and friendly, now what more could you ask for!

While visiting Grand Haven in January on a family trip, our minivan s alternator died. My husband was driving alone at the time and just barely got the van into the Tuffy s parking lot before it completely died. The staff were super helpful, quick, and easy to work with. They got us fixed up quicker than expected and all in one afternoon. They also offered, and kindly followed through on, a free battery check a couple days later to make sure our battery was still testing fine to help us make it on the drive home. All in all a wonderful experience, and we would highly recommend!

Great service at great price!! The technicians did a fantastic job and James at the front was extremely helpful. I highly recommend anyone come to see the amazing people at Tuffy!!

As someone who knows little about cars I was a little intimidated about going into an actual auto shop. However, I found my recent visit with Tuffys to be exceptional!! I had run into an issue with my car right before work so I went to the Walmart Autocare center. They could not assist me with the issue any further and referred me to Tuffys. I was told by them and others that Tuffys would probably overcharge me for the service I needed. I walked into Tuffys and they seemed quite busy for the day, but they squeezed me in on the spot anyway. They did a full inspection of my car at no cost and also helped with with the issue for no additional cost!!!...Their customer service was phenomenal and I am extremely grateful for their help. The person running the front desk, who I believe was Jose, even went over the inspection summary with me and updated me on the condition of my car. As someone who knows little about cars I really appreciated the time they took to help me out and explain to me what the issue was, how they fixed it, and how my car was running. This was the first time anyone has looked at my car in detail to make sure everything was running good and in good condition. For any future car needs I will definitely be going to Tuffys because I know they will take good care of my car.For anyone considering Tuffys I would 100% make that appointment with them. You can't beat their phenomenal customer service and high quality/detailed work.

First time Tuffy customer, and it was a smooth and efficient experience. I agree with a lot of the comments below; Jose (who also goes by Dan) is knowledgeable, has fantastic customer service and is an all-around nice guy.While waiting for my car repair, I overheard a conversation between Dan and a young girl and her mom selling candy. Not only did Dan buy several candy bars, he checked with all the mechanics to see whether they would support this young lady and got her a few more sales! Dan even humored me when I asked him to look at a portable power pack / air compressor I bought (that malfunctioned), and he did! even though he was busy and it was right before closing on a Friday afternoon.I absolutely recommend this service center without reservation. I would return here for future service for the cleanliness of the facility, the excellent customer service and for the good work they did to service my car.

I've not been a Tuffy customer in the past. That will change! I went in for a complete exhaust replacement for my car and was given an cost based on a two hour estimate. Due to the faulty installation of the performance exhaust system by a Mazda dealer in GR, several of the manifold bolts had been cross-threaded or damaged nearly twenty years ago, which led to them breaking off when trying to remove them..Bottom line is that they ended up working on my car for MANY more than expected, but the technicians stuck in there and did a great job of returning my car in excellent shape AND they charged me based on the original estimate rather than for the total hours that they actually worked on it. Everyone was very considerate and helpful and I am pleased with the work. I will go back to Tuffy Grand Haven and I can recommend that you do too!Service: Exhaust

Everyone was so awesome at Tuffy in Grand Haven. I needed to have a tire sensor and brake issue addressed in time to drive my car for a long trip the following day. They were able to get me in the same day and back on the road. Everyone was very friendly and explained things clearly. I really appreciated the transparent pricing too. I definitely recommend them.

Best mechanic shop around! Dan is absolutely fantastic, helped me through the whole process. They have an awesome finance line for assistance as well. Went in without an appointment and they managed to get my car back to me same day! Can't speak highly enough, a great experience. Thank you!!!

For amazing customer service and expert mechanics, take your vehicle to Tuffy's! I brought my SUV in for an inspection after paying thousands of dollars in repairs other places, and Tuffy's was the first to be honest with me about the state of my vehicle. They documented the inspection with images and took the time to explain everything they saw. As a woman, I'm often disregarded at mechanic shops, but they treated me with the respect and dignity all customers deserve. I can't recommend Tuffy's enough!

Mixed review. Customer service was good they stayed in communication. I don t feel it takes 6 and a half hours to do a brake job on a Chevy truck complete. But that is how long I sat there waiting. I paid 930.00 for the complete bill. After a test drive they said one of the brakes (the new ones went bad during the test drive). They asked if they could keep my truck overnight no sorry that isn t happening. They did fix the brake both sides in case the set was bad. Seems like that took less time which makes me wonder what was going on for the previous 6 hours ?? I m going to have a mechanic look at my truck today to make sure all my parts are there and nothing shady happened in that 6 hours. My truck is a 19 has less than 60k on it, nothing else better go wrong. Or I will hire an attorney. My truck runs like a top. Brakes are routine maintenance. I also plan to call my Chevy dealer and speak to service to make sure things were on the up and up. And of course to compare prices. Something about this whole experience doesn t smell right to me.

I had a great experience with this shop. I needed new tires and initially took my car to a local shop that could not get my wheel off. They ruined my rims and spent the whole day trying to get my wheel off with no success. The guys at Tuffy were able to get my wheel off, and got me a better price on the same tires. James was great on the customer service side and communicated with me the whole time. Great overall experience and think it s the place to go in GH!

I went in with a thorny engine problem in a vehicle that I had just purchased. The dealer was giving me a lot of trouble and wanted a ton of evidence that the engine was in fact bad. James and the team at Tuffy were very helpful, performed all the needed diagnostic tests, and a very fair price, and detailed what was (and wasn't) wrong with the engine.I'll also add that they were very quick to get me in and out, when other service centers were scheduling out 2+ weeks.Service: Engine repair

Dan and Jake were more than helpful, helped me get my truck back on the road for an amazing price. They communicated with me through the whole process, and they got it back to me well before the estimated time was up.Edit: even after the service was done, they were able to answer all the questions I have had for them (no matter how many and how pointless). I cannot speak highly enough about their professionalism and top tier customer service. They have a great staff there, and my only regret is that Google won't let me make an additional post.

I was on vacation with my daughter's and my car went from midway cold to hot. I happened to be near the Tuffy and they were able to look at it the next day. They said it was my head gasket at a price of $1500. I had them take the thermostat out and I drove it to a spot where AAA could get it. After bringing it into my mechanic at home it ended up being a thermostat. Thank goodness I didn't pay all that money for a false repair.

Even though I live in Zeeland, I will be coming here everytime I need car help or an oil change. The day prior to coming here, my dealership told me I needed over $1000 of work done. I asked Tuffy s for a quote for the same work. They got back to me right away and got me in the same day to do a free inspection. It turns out I only needed my front brakes done which they took care of right away after confirming with me. I will never take my car to my dealership again. Tuffy s is fast, affordable, and doesn t take advantage of their customers. Thank you for the great experience!Service: Brakes

The day before Christmas Eve my heater blower died in the middle of a blizzard. They took me in that day for a very friendly and affordable repair. I will definitely take my car there again for future repairs! Tuffy exceeded my expectations with this repair:My tire had something stuck in it between the rim and tire after a hit and run on the bridge. I didn't want to drive it far in that condition, so I stopped by Tuffy and asked for help. They took me in right away, took the tire off and found additional pieces of plastic loose inside the tire/wheel. Their price was great and I appreciate they actually cared about the situation. I tried to make an appointment the other day online for someone to look at my tire Saturday morning, but never got a confirmation. I called this morning to double check if they had anything, and they didn't have any submission, HOWEVER, Dan, who I spoke with on the phone, was very polite and told me to just come on in, and if it was repairable they'd have it done by the time they closed at 3pm. He gave me a quote and I left. Not even two hours later I got the call that it was all fixed up! Got down there and it was even cheaper than what I expected! Very nice service through and through! They repaired the tire, topped off all my other tires and it drives perfectly now! I'd recommend Tuffy's in Grand Haven!

The people here are amazing. They are straight shooters with good advice and fair prices. We were helped quickly and professionally by a staff of experts. They didn't just tell us what was wrong with the car, they showed us and clued us in on how to identify future problems. Beyond that, they are really nice, helpful and it's obvious that they truly care about their customers. I would go to this Tuffy again in an instant!

Ok service. Did take longer than most other shops. I did make an appointment with Dan to get my brakes done and he didn t put it in the system so it took even longer for my brakes to get done and I didn t get an apology for the delay. Had a heater core flushed here and John was very thorough. He made sure to bleed all the air bubbles out before sending it out the door. Dan always takes good care of me price wise and Marty does a great job as well. I recommend them for sure.

GREAT SERVICE Sorry for the delay in writing a review ... I just like to try out a service garage multiple times before i actually grade them.During the 3 times they have done work on my trucks its been AAA+++ SERVICE!! !!The owner has never pressured me into buying anything extra... He has told me on 2 occasions if it was my truck, I wouldn't replace it because its not worth it now.Knowing that they can make you spend extra I feel they prefer you to return and want to build that customer relationship .I would/have recommended them to several people in the Grand Haven & Spring Lake area.Thanks again for the great hospitality!!

This review is coming late, but is very well deserved for the Tuffy Auto in Grand Haven. My wife and I were on vacation and traveling back to Chicago when our hood latch malfunctioned. It was on a Saturday afternoon and pretty much everything between Grand Haven and Chicago was closed for the day. We pulled in to Tuffy's and explained our issue to Dan. I could tell by looking at the car bays that they were very busy and were close to closing for the day. Dan and his team were great. they worked to get the hood latch to re-engage so we would have a safe ride home and when I asked how much we owned he said he was happy to do it for no cost because he realized how important safety is on long trips.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Awesome customer service and great repair work on my SUV. I needed new front axles, tie rods, and stabilizer links. My warranty covered what i needed, at first my warranty was trying to say i needed to pay the full amount up front because of some issue with an invoice needed, but Dan was able to call my warranty and make it so all i had to pay was my deductible. They had a loaner car for me to use, and they were speedy on my repairs, also being the only place who could get me in the shop, the same day i called. Very impressed and I highly recommend them! A++
