I've been bringing mine and my mother's car here for a while. Sam the owner has always done right by us. He's honest and prices are fair. He recently retired and there's a new owner. I haven't had work done since Sam left so I will have to see how he is.

Sam is the best! Reasonable prices and fast service. He did my front suspension, heater hose replacement and oil changes. Honest and professional. When you find a good mechanic, you'll always come back!

Edited 3/2024New manager (Ali) is keeping this auto repair shop running smoothly! As someone who grew up with only Sam doing maintenance on cars all I can say is they picked a great person to take over!From 2017:My family has been going here for years! Honest repairs and honest prices! They are good people. Everyone is friendly and they will go above and beyond for everyone who walks in the door!

Went up there to be turned around saying they had to many cars already. The lady on the phone told me to bring it in. Just a wasted trip.

Really solid option, they're so helpful, quick, and very reasonable in pricing. Especially as a solo female who doesn't know a lot about cars, they answered all of my dumb questions and took care of my car with no issues at all so it's such a relief to find somewhere trustworthy to go. I'd give em zero stars if I could .I simply asked them to flush my brake lines and fix the e brake shoe on the rear passenger.My car came off that lot SHAKING and making grinding noisesWent to another place in midtown and within less than half the price they fixed the brakes and saw that this mechanic had left a screw in that was pushing the rotor and wheel out, which also knocked off my brake pad hardware with all the shaking.ZERO stars. Go to north end auto repair.

Went in because my right front wheel was scraping, they looked at my car the same day and didn't charge me anything when they couldn't recreate the problem. I expected at least a diagnostic fee and was relieved when there wasn't one.

I've been going to Downtown Mobil Services for a few years now. Whenever I've had more serious car issues and I'm out of their range for towing - I pay AAA extra to get towed to Downtown Mobil.Sam and his team do a great job. I always appreciate Sam's honesty and really useful explanations. My family and I have been taking our vehicles to Downtown Mobil for well over 10 years and have always been more than satisfied. Sam and all the mechanics are very kind, hard working, trustworthy, and timely with repairs/maintenance. Most of my repairs have been taken care of within a day or two, and I ve never felt ripped off. They definitely value and care for their customers. used to love this place and recommend it to everyone, sadly Sam isn't around as much as he used to be, which is totally out of anyones control and I hope he stays healthy. The people running the shop now are awful, they don't listen when you tell them what you need done, even if you say it in plain english multiple times, new dude is sketchy and i'm sure stole parts off my friends car, the guy running the shop says they've done things to the car before even though we know they didn't. No longer trust this place enough to bring my car there even for a check up.

Excellent. Good work, honest, and affordable. Best place in town!!!! I once had trouble with my previous car and took it to a repair location and I was told to repair it was $350.00. A longtime customer of Downtown Mobile told me to take it to them before I paid out any money. I did, found that it was only a $10.00 belt that needed repaired. Been coming here every since. Some places take advantage of women.

Thought I needed ball joints. Was going to do myself but their price was nice so I thought I should let an expert handle it. Whew! I am glad I did. Turned out it was something different and only half the price. Sam and his team at Downtown Mobile Services are everything you want in a mechanic: Good, fair price,and honest. It is the rare unicorn of shops that your grand pappy told you about.

A model business. I've been going to Sam's for years. They do excellent work. As importantly, he and his staff exemplify integrity and commitment to service. Their prices are very reasonable, they are honest, and if they tell you they'll get the job done, they'll get it done when they say they will, and if they know they can't, they'll tell you that and refer you to someone they trust who can. I've referred more people to Sam's than probably any other business.

This is the best mechanic I've ever been to by far. I didn't know what was wrong with my car so I took it in and they fixed it for a low price. They were super kind and professional. I did my part in calling the shop to see if they would be willing to look at my car today. The gentleman was nice on the phone and agreed to look at it. My complaint comes after my arrival as there was no one in the office and only a bell button to be pushed for service on the wall. After ringing the bell once, none of the many mechanics came to the front or acknowledged the ring. Yes it was broadcasted loud enough for everyone to hear. Rung the bell a second and third time, possibly more. No response as they all seem to see me or cross eyes with me. My male coworker came to assist. After trying to get the men s attention for 20-30 minutes and no response we chose to go somewhere else. All I really needed to do was drop the car off and get back to work as my coworker followed me to bring me back to work. Super frustrating! I ve accomplished nothing today and am sick to my stomach with the lack of customer service experienced at this place. Won t consider this place again.

Excellent mechanics, fair prices, good people. Went there for years, and they've been so helpful. I've moved 45 minutes away, but I still sometimes bring my car back to them. Very trustworthy.

Friendly, honest, and local. They ll tell you how it is, no BS. They also allow you to bring your own parts which is great if you have specific jobs needed and know where to get the right parts on your own. Usually very busy, get there early!

Downtown Mobil has been there forever. Need a honest mechanic this is the place you want to go. Sam the owner top notch. My repair was done by Dale very professional. Repairs done quick great customer care. Highly recommend!

Had to get a tire patched. The next day it was still leaking so I took it back. They did find that the patch was leaking, but also found another nail. They took care of me without a fuss. They really own their work and honor it. I will be using them for future work. Also they allow you to buy and bring your own parts and just pay for labor. Two thumbs up.
