If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would! It was the best service and experience I ve ever had with a mechanic. Every person involved from the lovely lady at the front desk, to John, the mechanic I worked with, were amazing. As a female, it s hard to find places that take me seriously and don t try to pull a fast one on me. I really appreciate the service I got, as well as the above and beyond communication and explanation of everything. I never once felt like I was being talked down to by anyone on this team, which is unfortunately a common occurrence I face at most mechanic shops I go to. I would highly highly highly recommend this spot for anyone, but especially any females in the area that are looking for a reliable and trustworthy spot. They really helped me out in a pinch and went above and beyond with their services. I really appreciate this team wholeheartedly. Last year we had an issue with our 2016 Ford Edge. The flexplate/flywheel had broken. Well known recall issue for 2015 - 2020 Ford Edge. (Another quality #1 job by Ford) We took into Cole Ford in February 2023 to have the flexplate checked out, before March 1st. After March 1st the recall would not be honored. Edge owners had from August 2022 - March 2023. Around March 20th, guess what? The plate shattered!! it had a clunking sound, but Cole Ford said it was nothing after listening to it with a stethoscope? Cole Ford wanted $4K to repair it??? I called Frank's Transmission. They wanted $1400.00 to fix it. I had a rollback pick it up & take it from Cole Ford to Frank's. Frank's Transmission proceeded to do the repairs & after a couple of day's they got it fixed. While they had it apart they noticed a ball joint was bad on the lower control arm. I said go ahead and fix it. They finished the repairs and told us the car was ready. The total was around $2K. We paid & picked up the car. As soon as we left the driveway, the wife noticed the auto start/stop feature wasn't working? The amber light was on. We turned right around & went back. We were told that it was like that when we had it dropped off from Cole Ford. Which it was not! Cole Ford never worked on it. We were told that we would have to have it scheduled to be diagnosed & it would cost $125/hr? We decided we couldn't afford anymore expenses so we left the auto start/stop as it is!! Fast forward to today...Here in the last two month's we noticed a bad vibration in the front end? We just took it to a reputable repair shop in Akron, Ohio, now that we've moved from Coldwater last November to Ohio. They found the wiring harness had been damaged from a previous repair, smashed & broken, as well as the cv joint rubber boot had been removed, missing? The vibration was from the cv joint having no grease and destroyed. I had U.S. 12 auto repair just install two brand new axles & cv joints in October 2022, which cost me $1K for that repair. These were the only repairs done to this vehicle, outside of routine maintenance. I guess it pays to double inspect the repairs being done and ask for all parts removed from the vehicle during repairs. Nothing like being robbed!!

Was having some transmission issues. The Ford dealership couldn't see me until Tomorrow, so I googled transmission shops and found Frank's Transmission with a high rating.They checked my vehicle and found it was the driveshaft coupling assembly.Unfortunately they couldn't get the part until Friday. So I'm heading to get my garage to get it and do the repairs.Definitely recommend Frank's Transmission if you're in the area.Very friendly service

I broke down nearby Frank s on my way from Brooklyn, NY, to St. Paul, MN. This was exactly my halfway point and when I found out my manual transmission need to be replaced, I was faced with a number of decisions. Dawn was like a guardian angel. When I decided the issue was too expensive to repair and needed to rent a car to get the rest of the way, Dawn and John let me use their garage as a base camp while I dealt with salvage yards and the many other arrangements that needed to be made. They ultimately offered to take the car off my hands for the price the salvage yard offered, saving me a huge amount of logistical figuring and wrangling. And the icing on the cake? They drove me to the Kalamazoo airport one hour away where I had found a one way car rental, asking nothing in return but some gas money. Lovely people, expert facility. I wish I had a place like Franks near me. Thank you Dawn and John!

Fantastic service! I really felt like they cared about me and figuring out what was wrong with my vehicle. They took the time to listen to me and find the possible issue that is going on and schedule a time that works with my schedule.

My car couldn't be fixed but at no fault of theirs. They were fast and courtesy and patient and did everything they could to solve my problem. It couldn't be fixed do to the manufacturer discontinued the parts. Ford told me they couldn't fix it to take it to Franks.

This is a long overdue review, but here goes. Fixed my transmission in record time, great communication during the entire process. The entire team ,from the owners, to the technicians, even the person who answers the phone are knowledgeable and professional. Went there and they were supposed to diagnose my transmission I told them what it was doing they test drove it come back and said there was just an old code that was stored I cleared it out everything is fine and they charged me $110 for not even doing anything what a ripoffService: TransmissionService: Transmission

They were different. Took way longer than was fist told. They never followed up with a check. When I ended up having transmission problems about forty miles after they rebuilt it. They told me it wasn t their problem. Kinda weird and kinda unprofessional. To me it s a company that I wouldn t trust again.Service: Transmission repairService: Transmission repair

I have had two complete transmission overhauls on two different cars done at Frank's. Dawn is wonderful to work with and John is very knowledgable and honest. On more than one occasion he has came with very little notice and personally picked my vehicle up no matter where it was and in the end the tow cost me nothing! Great place great people. When my car broke down...all of the motor oil leaked out onto my driveway in a very short time... I didn't know what to do or where to take it. I called around to several repair facilities, only to be told that it would be several weeks before anyone could even take a look.I found Frank's on line, called, and Dawn told me they could look at it five days later. They came the next day to tow it, and the gentleman who picked it up was very courteous. My car was diagnosed a day sooner than promised, communication was great, and the repair was made promptly. They did not try to sell me services that I didn't need, and explained their diagnostic process in a way uI understood without feeling talked down to. Pricing was fair, and in this instance, relatively inexpensive. They looked for the simple fix first.I didn't "have a mechanic" before this, but I do now. I would not hesitate to take my car to Frank's again.

Excellent service! I called and described the shifting problem with my pickup truck. Dawn was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful on the phone. She made an appointment for me. I dropped the truck off a couple days early because I figured I shouldn't drive it anyway and they had it done before my appointment day arrived. Maybe they had extra time or a cancellation from somewhere else but I will have more work done there in the future if the need arises. Thank you to Frank's Transmission crew!

This is by far the most professional automotive place I've been to. They are very thorough, honest and communicate every process with the customer, something that seems to be lost these days. Their customer service is second to none.. This place was recommended to me and I can wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who wants honest, professional and quality service for their vehicles.

I called to get information on my Jeep that was having issues with the transmission after taking it to the dealership who did not do service on a CVT transmission but only replaced it. Dawn was super helpful and even went above and beyond and called their supplier for me to check if they had parts specifically for my vehicle type to give me better insight into my options. She was so caring and genuine about helping me with my problem. I would Highly recommend service at Franks because they truly care about helping their customers.

We have taken our vehicles to Frank's Transmission & Auto Repair for quite a few years. We have always been very happy with their work. They are honest and you always are aware of the work being done. They are courteous and friendly. We will keep taking our vehicles to Frank's when they need to be worked on.

I purchased a Dodge van from Subaru of Ft. Wayne. After getting the van checked out there was a concern about the transmission. I called Frank's Transmission and they got me in the next morning. They found the problem so now I take a ride back to Ft. Wayne. I was very impressed with the staff at Frank's. They saved me thousands. Thank you for your concern, your professionalism and how quick you got the car in.

I would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the area looking for transmission repair. John & Dawn are both professional, honest and knowledgeable. Let me start by saying my family has been doing business with Frank's for a while, however, this last time has left us with a bad taste in our mouths. I took my car in when my power steering pulley broke. We had already purchased most of the parts to fix it but we were unable to do so because one of the screws had broken off in the engine. They gave us the run around with prices for a couple of days before finally completing my car, when all was said and done a simple screw removal had turned into $300 worth of repairs. Which was fine because we are selling the car anyways and just wanted to get everything done. When my husband went to pick up the car they told him it needed oil but other than that it was good to go. He took it to our house which is literally around the corner and left it for me. I then had to drive it out to my parents house who are selling the car for me. On the way out my car overheated. My mother and I called my husband and he came to look and realized that the reservoir hose was not even connected. I went in just to let them know what had happened so that it wouldn't happen again and they said it wasn't their problem because that was not what they were working on, the guy said he was sure it was something that my husband had probably done. To be honest, I don't really care who did it, they should have caught it before the car left, especially if they had run the car for any amount of time. Their customer service was awful, as was their workmanship. WE WILL NEVER be going there again.

Had regular maintenance done. Car is a 2009 and hasn't had trans serviced. Dropped pan, filter and fuilds. Reasonable price. Not a trans flush like others offer.

We brought a truck to them which had already been looked at by multiple other service shops with no resolution. Frank's was like a bull dog to a bone. There was nothing that was going to stop them from figuring out the issue. We were VERY pleased with the professionalism and service. Thank you!

We took are Gmc Yukon there and had the tranny rebuilt they did a great job. almost a year later the converter went bad. they got us right in and warranted everything. good people to work with...

I have used Franks Transmission on my older 1985 toyota RV that I had restored by John and his guys. Let me tell you right now; his work is the best; the guys took on the project without fear, replaced the 1/2 ton rear axle and front hubs with 1 ton heavy duty ones rebuilt breaks bearing even fabricated brackets that I couldnt locate parts for. Our RV has since been to the beach at Maine, New Orleans, Yellowstone, basically almost every state on all the work they did. Ive had heavy transmission loads, had animals jump out in front of the rig etc and it always stops on a dime and runs like a champ; a 1985! I wouldn't trust any other shop in Coldwater to my families safety other than John and his crew at Franks; pricing was always legit and he will even cut breaks if you get you parts ready for him in advance; what more could you want in an honest shop? I will be back there forever until cars become planes and even then i think his boys would be the best in town. -Mike B, Coldwater mi

franks transmission has been my go to transmission shop for over 20 years. I restore cars and have to have perfect work done the first time while the car is in a safe environment. franks excels in both.
