I came in on Friday at 4:50 with a low tire after traveling from the Detroit area with my school's robotics team. The owner came out to help fill our tire and then found the reason, a sheet metal screw right! He quickly removed and plugged the tire and filled it back up. After he was done I asked him how much and he said he likes keeping people on the road. We threw him some cash for dinner and drinks but you could tell he was 100% genuine with helping. We need more people like the owner of Assured!

Just FYI don't expect the same exceptional service that John and his son was providing. I don't believe they are working here anymore and may have retired. Now I wasn't aware until now after I drop my vehicle off. Usually John would be upfront about any charges if there is one. So from the new owners or part owners supposedly have signs posted on charges as such. Which half of John's regulars have no clue of the change til you come and pick up your vehicle. UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!!!AS A RESPONSE TO THE OWNER WHOM POSTING AFTER CALLING MY HUSBAND TO PICK UP MY CAR with an attitude. Keep referring to John John know us well he has been repairing our cars for over 15yrs. Now I come to pick up my car this Man the so called owner is very rude he tossed my keys to me and walked out. Asked the desk clerk what his name was she responded the Owner that doesn't have a name. 1st off Owner guy John would have told us from Jump that he would have to do a diagnostic test to find out what is wrong . John has a relationship with his customers that you need to work on as far as business goes you need to work on your attitude me and my husband has referred many customers to John over the years and never to now its been a problem. When I was there u could have addressed this issue but you didn't. For the record niw I will share thus experience with those I referred and will share with my social family. Have a blessed day!!! NOPE IM NOT GONNA DO IT. Change your ways Owner Guy.

I didn t know that John is now a silent partner until after the fact. I took my car there Wednesday 10/25/23 @7:30 am they didn t start on it until almost 5pm when i got there. The receptionist told me it would be done by closing 5pm they hadn t even started it.They wanted me to come back the following day. I insisted that they finish it right away. They billed me for 1.5 hrs when they only took 30 mins. I went up there to talk to manager about the charges he was trying to justify it. He didn t refund any of my money. That shop is VERY DISHONEST. I will find another shop to go to. John s reputation and shop WAS known for being honest has turned into to a place where customers are being cheated! Its a shame!!!

I want to preface that I've had many wonderful experiences here before, but this time, because a specific brake line did not get fixed like I specifically requested I ended up paying $400 for my front brake lines to fail AGAIN within a week and this time it ended up with me crashing into a fire hydrant and totaling my truck.Don't even know what 3rd brake line was fixed. Funny how they said 2 more on top of my two I said I wanted fixed were bad and one of them that I requested to get fixed wasn't even fixed.Like I said I have had several wonderful experiences across multiple vehicles but this time. I don't know what happened. I seriously don't.And yes I fixed my BACK PASSENGER rotors and brake pads like I said I would do the minute I got my truck back. Still had a whole nother leak and had to drop the gas tank to fix that one.

Original Review posted in 2022.I moved to Michigan a couple of years ago, and only recently was able to afford to do work on my vehicle. I have found the local shop to fix what I need fixed. Honest, fair, and quick are words that describe that shop.They fixed my AC, replacing my compressor and recharging my system. It's good to have AC again after 4-5 years of no AC. Quick test to see where the leak was at before deciding replacing the compressor was the best solution (definitely my decision). This was the original suggestion by Ford 4 years ago (it was Friendly Ford in Roselle, IL, not Sieman's in Bridgman)...but I was not impressed with the level of information I got from them. John answered all my questions and kept me informed about the repairs. Cost to do all this (everything mentioned in this review) was less than what Ford was going to charge me for just replacing the compressor 4 years ago.They fixed my corroded transmission cooler lines, which I attempted to patch when they started leaking. I expected those would require complete replacement of the lines, as Ford would no doubt do if I asked them instead. They replaced the affected sections of the lines and saved me a good chunk of change. I'm sure they got a good laugh off the "patch" I applied.On basically the morning of the day I would get my truck back, I asked them to see if they could remove the rusty running boards on my truck. This was not something I asked them to do originally. They said no problem, and even offered to cut them from the truck if they couldn't unbolt them (the bolts were very rusty). They got them unbolted and there was no real delay in when truck was available for pickup. Very much improved the look of my truck...as they were a real eyesore. Thanks guys!Also got my transmission fluid and power steering fluid topped off while it was there. It's good to have power steering again.I'm just overall very happy with the money I spent with them. He doesn't want me to sink too much money into my 19 year old truck. However, it's not looking like I'll be switching vehicles any time soon, so I'll be bringing more business to them in the future. Definitely have some more stuff to fix.edit: A bit of clarity regarding this review. I was working for Autozone at the time as a delivery driver (I have quit since then). So I had regular contact with this shop as well as several other shops in the area. I chose this shop because of how I saw him conducting business. I feel it's important to include details like this as any prior relationship of any kind should be included when writing reviews like this. Transparency is best. Had to get my starter replaced in a pinch. I was ready to cry after having called a couple other places and them quoting me an astronomical amount. I called John and he was super helpful and great to deal with. He gave me a really reasonable price and had my car in and out in just a few hours. I ll definitely be back if my car gives me anymore fits!

The best experience I've had getting my vehicle maintained. Everyone I called was 2-3 weeks out, John got me in the next day. I dropped my truck off, even with a few unforseen issues they were able to get everything I asked for done the same day and at half the price I was expecting. John took the time to show me everything they had done, and clearly explained some of the issues they had. So glad I gave them a try. Exceptional and trustworthy service! My daughter was broken down on I-94 while traveling through the area. John at AAA was so helpful and accommodating. He provided a rough estimate (other places would not) over the phone and got the repair done quickly. Very honest assessment and understanding of the situation. You can trust AAA/John and if you live in the area I highly recommend taking your car to him for your service needs!

I have now been here multiple times for different repairs to my vehicles. So far they have taken care of my Prius and my MDX. They have been wonderful and accommodating. The work has been completed well with all the complaints about the vehicle evaluated in-depth and affordable solutions offered. When I pick up the vehicle John, the owner, shows me pictures he has taken of the work or shows me the defective parts removed and explains the work in detail when asked. I really appreciate that kind of communication and the prices have been more than affordable. Sometimes I feel like I m getting one over on them due to their amazing prices but I ve mentioned it and John just seems proud of his work, his crew, and his prices. So what I am supposed to do. Write this good review recommending all to go here for your repairs. Also their scheduling seems to be extremely accommodating which I appreciate. Sometimes setting up appointments for the vehicles far in the future for repairs that need to happen now just doesn t work for me and my family which is what a lot of shops in the area do. Having a family and dropping off cars and all that can be a hassle so I appreciate all the help I can get as far as flexible scheduling. Thank you to the crew there and please please keep it up. Your such an asset to the area! Thanks.

Our car broke down on the highway as we were passing through Benton Harbor. This happened to be the closest and highest rated mechanic and they took great care of us. They were honest, helpful, and accommodating. They made a point not to do any work I didn't need so as not to charge me unnecessarily. It felt great to find a mechanic when I was hours away from home that I felt like I could trust.

Been brining my Toyotas here for 2 years. Excellent and honest service. I don't trust my vehicles with just anyone, but I trust John and his mechanics. Traveled to area from out of town when my brakes started making horrible noise. Went into AAA Auto Repair. Although they were very busy, John was very accommodating and got my car fixed same day so we could continue on our way. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They put in quality ceramic brakes at a good price and offered to back up their work and products if I have any issues what so ever. I cannot thank John enough. Highly recommend this shop.

On our way back from Northern Michigan my car's check engine light started flashing and we lost power when accelerating. We booked a night in the nearby Hampton inn and looked for places that had reviews similar to our circumstance. The reviews saying this place was friendly, fair, and understanding are correct. I had a hunch what the problem was and they listened to my concerns. They got my car working and back on the road in no time and it lasted the rest of my trip back to Iowa. I really appreciated them taking me in during an emergency and treating me and my family with respect. I would gladly take my car here if I had a similar situation or lived in the area. Thank you again for helping my family and saving our trip.

I first took my car here last year and I will never take it anywhere else from now on. John is a great mechanic and he's affordable. He won't try to cheat you out of money or price gouge you on anything. Way more affordable than any other place in town! And he always squeezes me in, even if I call him last minute. Highly recommend!

If you want personal attention, great prices, and expert advise and repairs, this is the only place to go. I have successfully followed John and his seasoned mechanics for years through four vehicles! I currently have 220,000 miles on my Ford Edge and I owe that to their great work on my car! I recently took my vehicle in to the new location at AAA and nothing has changed in my expectations and results. Best of all, John never repairs anything without discussing with me first and he is such an honest person. He will tell you if he thinks everything is fine! If you want that old fashioned service and relationship with your mechanic, look no further. He earns your trust and keeps it.

Awesome service! We were about a 1/3 of the way through a road trip when our truck died at 2:30 am. We wait until 8 am just to have two shops turn us away, but John got us in and back on the road in less than two hours, with an affordable bill. By far the MOST honest mechanic I ve found locally! John saved me HUNDREDS of dollars on a simple brake job and sway bar link. He was able to beat competitors prices by nearly $1000 for the same job!I will definitely be back for all the automotive needs and highly recommend John and his crew to anyone who needs work.I was able to walk in and have my entire job completed in about an hour.I m very very happy with my experience.

I was recommended to AAA after getting a week-long runaround from Brookfield, directly across the street. I brought my truck in Wednesday morning, and it was fixed, and ready for me by Thursday afternoon! The quote came in almost exactly where I expected it to, and at LESS THAN HALF of the dealer across the street! These guys catered to my needs, and made everything incredibly convenient. I would highly recommend AAA for anybody who's searching for a good, honest mechanic. Have been a customer for over 20 years never had to fix my cars twice he's work on all my cars and now all my daughter's car one of the most honest and fair places to take vehicle. The guys who work here are really nice and helpful. This place actually gives "old fashioned" service. They are honest, and upfront about costs and very reasonable for what they charge for repairs. I always recommend John Larrata and his business when people have car problems.

John was incredible! We broke down the day before a holiday weekend and he stayed past closing just to make sure we were helped above and beyond what he needed to do. The level of service was beyond anything I would have imagined and I can only say that I was lucky enough to break down in the area. Despite not being from Benton Harbor, I will be going out of my way in order to take my vehicle to this place again just to know that I am getting professional, high quality and personal care from an amazing business. Appreciate the help

What happend to me today with these people was just great!! The most honest people that I ever deal with Period I was told by other mechanic that wheelbearing hub need to be replaced on my GMC a few days ago by the way he Could not do nothing??? So I call these people yesterday to do that and they told me to bring in over today I did and my truck do not need any wheelbearing replaced in the first place and 2nd these people fix the problem at not cost. For my surprise the problem was make from the same mechanic that told me wheelbearing need to be replaced a year ago?? Did you get it people? My point it's these people Could replaced the parts and charge me for something that I dont Even need it..and they were so honest to me and explain me the issue and fix it..I just wonder why his shop it's always empty?? And why so many people had problem with him? All I can do it's continue praying for you and your family.. God bless AAA Auto Repair owners and made them prosper spiritual that it's more important and economic.Service: General repairs & maintenance

John Laratta is the most honest mechanic I have gone too. I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring convertible (this car is not easy to work on). I was referred to John by another friend who said he has done great work. My car had a misfire and an oil leak. When I dropped my car off, I get a phone call a few hours later laying out everything that they have done to diagnose it and wanted to let me know 1st, and how much it was going to cost. For the amount of work they put in, I was very very pleased with repair bill! I would recommend this to anyone who reads this or needs a repair. I would not go to any other place then aaa auto repair in Benton harbor, MI. The highest standard and quality in the area!

Incredibly reasonable pricing, personal attention, and very honest - our company, employee's families, and my own family will not consider another mechanic - there is no comparison to his attention to detail!
