I went there with lots of questions about repairs for an alternator. I was very pleased with the quote and customer service. I did not get the repairs done there because my dad had already secured someone to do it. But, for sure, if I have any issues in the future, I will be using their services. Highly recommended

Owner is very helpful and knows his craft. They have reasonable rates and do a good job. They will tell you what needs immediate attention and what you can put off temporarily if you are short on funds. However, they are busy all the time so be sure to call ahead for an appointment and be prompt or you'll have to wait or drop your car off and come back when they have had a chance to give it the attention needed.

72nd Automotive is wonderful! James the owner is straight forward and honest. The prices are extremely fair, and the mechanics are great. They will explain anything you need to know about the repairs they did, and they are speedy! Overall the entire crew is friendly, and knowledgeable, i send all of my friends there!

I've been here a few times and it seems like the technicians are either lazy or not as knowledgeable as they should be. Or, they purposely do half work to get you to come back and spend more money. Not sure what it is exactly, but whenever I've had them address anything on my vehicles, I always have to come back for the same issue.

Was stuck in town due to car issues on the way back home. An employee at a local auto parts store recommended this shop to us. The guys knew what they're doing and had us fixed and on the road in an hour.

I told them I think I need a fuel pump, I paid $45 for them to tow and diagnose at shop. They then said yes it is the fuel pump and that it would be $1015 for parts, labor and new battery and tow all together. Very disappointed because my late father's mechanic found that it was only some wiring ripped from the fuel line that needed to be fixed. No parts required. Less than $100 fix. RIDICULOUS

The absolute worst vehicle repair experience of my life. I was there with an 04 Chevrolet Avalanche for a transfer case replacement. I was told "oh yeah easy fix my son James does those all the time." Well my dad has known James Pope for 20+ years so you'd think we could trust him. My truck sat there for over 2 months before I got it back. 2 of those weeks are on my account (waiting for parts). Found a good used transfer case for 550$ they put it in there. They called and said that one is junk and I needed another one. Of course we trusted their judgement and so I spent 1300$ on a remanufactured one. They put that remanufactured one in there and all the sudden it won't go into 4wd. THE TRUCK WENT INTO 4WD PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE IT WENT THERE. But they said to have tried 3 new 4wd motors and that didn't work either. So we are all stumped. But because I trusted them I believed that wasn't the problem. So it sat for another month without the front driveshaft in because they said it only drove without the driveshaft. I did not want to pick up with it being incomplete. Finally I got fed up of them refusing to fix it, so I paid and took my truck anyways. I was charged 396$ instead of the original 220$. I was also charged 32$ for the transfer case fluid. I got the truck home and tried to figure out why it would not go into 4wd. Turns out the 4wd motor that was on there got snapped off when they tried to put it on the transfer case. They claimed it was like that already but I know damn well the truck went into 4wd without an issue before. I put 1 and only 1 4wd motor on myself and it went in and out of 4wd exactly how it should have, which also means the used 550$ transfer case was also good and they screwed it up putting it on. Anyways i drove the truck for about another month or so. That's when my truck started losing gears. Considering I had a warranty with that 1300$ transfer case I turned it in and got another remanufactured t case. I had SOMEONE ELSE change it and when he did he found that 72nd automotive never put fluid in it the first place that I was charged for. Ruining 2 transfer cases in the process. And because I drove it for 2 months without any fluid in the transfer case, which I didnt know at that time, it put my transmission in a bind, now my transmission just went out. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND. They can't be trusted. They were too dumb to do the job, screwed it up, and did not have the balls or integrity to take responsibility or at least try to make it right. And trust the Google reviews because Fb has biased reviews from friends and bad reviews get can be removed. Google cannot remove reviews. Wouldn't let em change a bicycle tire.

I started taking my car to James years ago when he was in south haven and I've never let anyone else work on my car. He is honest, fair and the work is always perfect the 1st time!!

Worse owner experience, he has attitude and don't do what he says. he fixed my car. was leaking antifreeze but few days later started leaking from same hose which he fixed. I dropped it off for him on Monday and he never look it, on Friday, i called his shop but his son answer the phone and he said he is taking it in now but when I went at 5:30 he shows me that hose was came out and I asked how he says who should know it. he said he is putting back the hose and will test the pressure but tomorrow. I called him on Saturday he said he is resealing the it because it was coming from same place where we charged you, I said ok. Monday when I went there his dad(owner) said you need new radiator. I argue with him because his son said something completely different than what he was saying, he told me to get out from the shop. and I told you are using same word for everybody because I was looking his feedback before I go there. and I had no choice take my car as is and took it some place else and they find nothing but that hose which they fixed it.

Out of towner and tried to call them multiple times. Had my coisin call. Same thing happen. When i did get get ahold of them friendlt and did great work overall. Was real disappointed in their tow service. Was told it was to be picked up friday by noon. It was picked up at 730am sat. The price was slightly above fair but way cheaper then a tow across state. When i paid for my bill they acted all cool amd problem solved. When my cousin came to pick up my truck they convinced her it was a death trap amd should go to scrap immediately. Scared her into not giving me my truck back almost. The problems that were discovered should have been talked about before the work was done and or a list of problems when i paid.

Worst experience I have ever had. So i dropped my car off on 08/16 and 11am, I walked in and talked to the "kid" (he looks like a kid) at the counter and I specifically asked if they had time to take a look at my car. He said they would get it in and give me a call. I called once that afternoon around 3pm to see if they had looked at it and he said no. They finally called me around 5pm, and they said they couldn't get my car started. Magically, my starter had broken somehow even though I just had it replaced less than a year ago and it worked just earlier that day when I dropped the car off. So they say they are going to push it in and get that fixed and just charge me labor since it is still under warranty. I called today 08/17 at 9am, an hour after they opened, and asked if they had looked at my car yet and they said "theres other cars here so no"... so of ocurse I said, how would there be cars ahead of mine since mine was there yesterday? that should make my car first in line for today??? I have a job, I need my car to get to work, home, the store, basically for everything.. I can't just leave my car there for days until its convenient for you to look at. He said, and I quote "Well then how about I just don't have time to look at it at all". Can't make that stuff up folks! So I walked over, got one foot in the door and they immediately said "no need to come in, keys are in the car". So I walked to my car and waited for a tow truck to pick us up and take us to martins auto shop down the road. I will never do business with them again. I wouldnt have even took the car to you if you would have said you wouldn't have time. Oh, and by the way 72nd, if you are reading this... cut your grass before I call the county. Thanks.

0/5 but there wasn't an option for it, but I would have NEVER taken my car here if I would've known it would take nearly 2 months to fix my car when it's just overheating! First it was the radiator that took a month alone to fix, which I had for a day and it reheated again, so I take it back just to be told they think it's a broken thermostat, which again took weeks to replace, and then again told its wiring to fix the fans which still is taking a week to fix when I was told it would be done in a matter of a day. I work for berrien county and I have to rely on other people to get a ride because my car is still in this god forsaken shop, all it seems they're good at is answering their phones and telling me that it's not finished yet and it'll be done Monday morning... I just want my car back!

If you use thes back yard non certified mackanics be carfull very much a joke !!! I just scraped my truck I had them work on it two or three times !!! Thay charged the tribe threefifty to put two freeze plugs in the truck !! Very expensive ?? N thay handed me a cast aluminum piece ?? off my trans ??? I was like is this realy happening to me !!! n said thay cant get it back on lol ? thay might just be recist to indians same thing happend to my brother I didnt worn him in time lol !! He had brake work done through the tribe n he left the shop with no to little brake pulled tire hub off n part s fell out :-) :-) :-) wow now I wonder how many tribal members got ripped by these guys !!!- thay took a week to find a brake fluid leak on my truck n said ill be fine itll be safe !!! no leak I barely made it home no brakes !!! no fluide in it at all I could c were it was leaking out by the master cillender lol thay didnt even pop the hood lol so I call ?? n he offers to buy my truck for two hundred like im a dunk needing his money !!! So insulting to me n my tribe so I junked the truck out of anger im disabled or I would have j rigged it up myself lol so with this said !! I paid 8hundred for the old truck n thay got that much to not do nothing realy it leaked antifreeze the same week after thay put freeze plugs in it at onefifty each and to top it all off thay broke my muffler off it was noisy assheck ??? Buy the way thay cost four dollers each !!! I just had to trust somebody to try n fix my truck I had faith in these guys !! So I turned down his offer of two hundred !! N decided to just put antifreez n brake fliude n everytime I drove it n the front tire fell off omg !!! Hell truck lol scrapped it the next day one hundred dollers wow !! I try not to even drive by this place but I pray fr bad poeple ??sounds like some made up story but its true I still got reciets ??

The shop is a wonderful shop great experience my dad's been going to this place for over 10 plus years never ever had a problem with there work price is always cheaper then anyone else in Benton harbor

Don t go here. Liars, used a zip tie instead of installing a boot when putting on a tie rod. Said my engine needed cleaning when it didn t.

They tried to rip me off...over pricing everything and didnt even fix the parts right smh it also took them a week and a half just to tell me what's wrong.

Told me my car needed to be junked..... Took it somewhere else was on the road the next day. Owner's nice but mechanics suck. I won't be going back not even for an oil change. Very disappointed.

Great service, makes sure you get there by 8am when they open. All of southwest Michigan is starting to realize these guys are the best with fair prices.
