This might sound silly, but Orion is the only service place I've ever brought my Volvo to where I haven't felt overcharged or talked down to because I'm a young woman. That in and of itself is enough to keep me coming back, but they're also incredibly communicative, have never needed my car for longer than a day, and I love that I can leave my car here confident in the people taking care of it. My car feels and runs better every time it leaves Orion, and their prices are MUCH more fair than anywhere else that I've taken my Volvo in Ann Arbor. I brought my (new for me) 1991 Miata in for service and am amazed what a great job was performed. My car feels new. Great service and friendly staff. I could not stop smiling on my drive home! Thank you.

Super professional and excellent work carrying out a pre-purchase inspection for me on a used BMW -- being that I'm from out of state the communication from the specialists at Orion was top tier and incredibly easy to work with. Report was detailed and included pictures, testing details, etc. which is really helpful and gave me peace of mind. Cannot recommend this shop enough.Service: Vehicle safety inspection

I ve been here a few times now for small random things as well as a bigger suspension repair for my e90, and Orion always impresses with their professionalism and thoroughness. Though it can get expensive like all German car repairs, the price truly reflects the service. Mike is always super helpful and makes sure to communicate everything! Don t take your German car anywhere else!

Orion automotive was where I took my car for years while living in Ann Arbor, and I honestly thought it was the best auto shop I've ever had. I never needed to bring my car in twice for any issue, it was a great group of people, and almost every repair or service I got actually came in *under* the initial estimate they gave me.

My family has used Orion for many years and has been extremely happy. Orion recently rebuilt my go kart which had been nonfunctional for more than two years. This business is extremely professional, very instructive about the problems our cars have had, and very cost conscious about helping to take care of older cars, while keeping them running and safe.As a long time resident of Ann Arbor, I can highly recommend them.Services: Carburetor cleaning, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine tuning, Engine repair, Oil change

Fantastic local business that knows what they are doing and is extremely fair. I have a 2001 z3 that I brought in for service, and the advisors and techs were super clear on their diagnosis, what needed to be done, and educated me on the priority of work as well as what could wait. After looking around for a good local mech, I can happily say I've found one. It's hard to find a team that does great work and is also honest and this shop does both. On concurrent visits, I've brought my other cars for advice and they are always friendly and open to taking a look to give an honest opinion (even if it includes not using them and going somewhere else!) Really appreciate the honesty and superb work done by the team

Sent a vehicle in for multiple repairs, the estimates were very fair and the gentleman on staff, Michael walked me through every step and was very friendly, transparent and professional.They offer full vehicle inspections and are able to handle to my knowledge any issue, including engine repair.Every service provided has been done without issue and I would highly recommend Orion Automotive Service for any vehicle concerns.

I have been a customer of Orion for the past 5 years. The quality of service from top with Rich, Michael and Jason to the rest of their staff has been superb. I own both German and American cars and the diagnostic work and quality of service has been unsurpassed in my experience. I have personally gotten to know everyone at Orion and I continually am impressed with their friendliness and professionalism. I feel very welcome to visit and talk to all the service guys. Their mechanics are at the top of their game. I have had one car that has been rescued a number of times by David from the used car lot because of their knowledge and expertise. Chip and the rest always find time to explain and help out. They do all the small things that make you as a customer feel valued. They have helped me even in situations when I have been out of town and have needed a service consult. It is a very sophisticated shop with a very friendly small town atmosphere. If they can't fix it, it may not be fixable.

These guys are the best! I had been coming to them for years with my old VW Passat and always appreciated their honest, friendly and thoughtful approach to what service my car needed (and what was a nice to have). When the time came for a new car I tried to take advantage of the covered service/maintenance at the dealership but spent the past two years pinning for the kind service I was used to at Orion. Finally, I decided paying for the service from Orion was better than the 'free' provided at the dealer's service department across the street. So happy to be back with this team! Now I both love my car and love the place I have my car serviced. Thanks guys!!!

Orion are top quality guys doing top quality work. If their prices are not the cheapest, it is because their work quality is the best and you get what you paid for. Nevertheless they will not charge you gratuitously and you can rely on the work they do.I brought a car in with a problem two other repair shops had not been able to find the cause of. They found it right away and recommended how I could fix it without racking up a big bill.Very highly recommend.

Orion Auto has a top notch staff and they take such excellent care of me that I actually enjoy getting my vehicle maintained and repaired ! Rich is an exceptional person and this is reflected in the quality of service provided in his shop. I have complete confidence in Orion professionally - plus they provide thoughtful extra touches that totally make my day! I ve been a customer for 15 years and am so appreciative to have such great car guys.

These folks are kind, thoughtful in Covid protocols, and went above and beyond repairing our car. The comprehensive inspection was much more thorough than other repair shops we have used, and the mechanics felt honest about which things really needed addressing and which things were less pressing. I took my Subaru to Orion for a Comprehensive Vehicle Inspection prior to selling. Rich and his team did a great job of giving me a list of the safety issues so I could confidently sell my car with good karma and honesty for the buyer. It was a great experience. Thanks, guys!

The 3 Mike's! Had a wonderful experience with our Audi. Went to the dealership for a needed repair the dealer couldn't get it done for days and no loaner.. this beautiful immaculately clean shop was able to get it done the next day for hundreds of dollars less! So professional and kind and honest and detailed. I really cant say enough. Oh yeah and the Audi drives great now! Thanks guys!

There are certain types of professional people that if you know makes life a little easier, a honest mechanic is one. Orion is is a different breed, they explain everything, the customer service is like no other shop around, the shop itself is as clean as a art gallery, the final price always matches the quote, I've never experienced a issue with work not being completed on time. I really can't say enough positive things about them. If you're looking for "your" mechanic give them a try!

Orion is the BEST. Moved here about 1.5 years ago and have been using their services. Will never trust my vehicle with other mechanic. You are not taken for a ride with your repair. Orion is honest, fair, & knowledgeable. The hospitality and warmth is authentic. They are like an extended family plus the additional services (car/work dropoff etc) can not be beat.

What type of shop is Orion Automotive? The type of place that takes CARE of you in every sense of the word. A shop that lovingly refers to customers as guests. A place that remembers the names of your children, your pets, the type of wine you like with dinner. Oh, and they are damn good at fixing cars too. I was a proud employee at Orion for 11 years and I continue to trust them to take great CARE of my family and friends. A true Ann Arbor original! We stopped by to have our car checked because it was making a weird sound, and had a great experience! We didn't have an appointment (we had just decided to try a mechanic and happened to be nearby) but they were able to check it in between other appointments. They checked it over and explained everything to us, and then they even washed off the car (which was a bit dirty). The waiting room was nice with a lot of cool decor and interesting stuff and a friendly dog to pet. Would definitely go back!

I like to buy my cars outright and keep them until they rust. A relationship with a good mechanic is a must-have to make this system work. For many years my 2007 Volvo's "primary care physician" worked at the local dealership and he did a great job. When I learned that he moved out of state it was a true loss. As luck would have it another trusted local business, Ross-Beakes Collision, referred me to Orion for work on my Volvo. In my first meeting there with Mike I noticed a Land Rover in the lot and asked about that. I also own a LR4 and have been driving it to the dealer in Farmington Hills for service.Long story short, I have had both vehicles in for service and these guys did great. They were on top of known issues for both vehicles and thorough in their inspection. Everything they found and recommended was documented with a write-up and photos. Pricing was itemized by service item. And their digital game is on point so we were able to communicate, review work estimates and transact our business all online, a definite bonus in this COVID situation.If you're like me and play the long game with your vehicles I gladly recommend Orion based on my recent interactions with them.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Exhaust, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Brakes, Oil change

I had an alternator installed in Kalamazoo that began overcharging 4 months later, which was still under warranty. To avoid driving back to Kalamazoo the people at Orion Automotive offered to fulfill the warranty here in Ann Arbor. They mentioned it was the first time they have done a part replacement which was under warranty, so it took many calls to the manufacturer to figure out how to handle it, as the original part was replaced by a different shop. They very prompt and kept me updated through the whole process. They did a very thorough inspection of the entire vehicle, and noticed issues that other shops hadn't noticed before. They also didn't push to fix these issues, they simply pointed them out for my knowledge which I highly appreciated. As for the alternator, it was discovered the plug is what was causing it to overcharge, not the alternator itself so it in turn was not under warranty. Because of this I will have to return to the shop in Kalamazoo and have them take care of it. They put everything back together and didn't charge me a dime. They were very friendly throughout this whole process, even though it took up so much of their time.I will definitely be coming back to this shop for any future repairs, and recommending them to all my family and friends. After the bad repair jobs I have had in the past, I'm glad I finally found a reputable and honest shop that really knows what they are doing.Highly recommended!

I'm sad to leave this review but I do not want anyone else to have this experience. We purchased a used Audi not too long ago and we made an appointment at Orion because we saw that the sticker from the previous oil change was from them. We thought it would be great to keep the car at the same local business where it's been before and that seemed so great at working with European cars. A few days before our oil change appt, the car didn't start anymore, we towed it in their parking lot and waited patiently for our turn to come that wednesday. They told us it was the steering column, they found one, ordered it, it arrived but they told us it would take another few days to install everything. My husband talked to one of the gentlemen who told him we should just cancel our weekend travel plans because he didn't know when it would be ready but he was hoping for Friday. He said he would update us. My husband called 4 times, they never called for an update. On Friday, my husband called again and talked to another gentleman who got frustrated and said "I don't have to put up with this", "If you're not pleased with our service, you can take your business elsewhere", etc. I went there in person and spoke to this gentleman who assured me it was a misunderstanding. I picked up the car next monday (after they had it for two weeks). A week later, car wasn't starting again. I called them and they told me it must be something else (starter this time) and they quoted me at another $600 after I paid $1100 for the column. Oh, but they couldn't see us until a week later anyway. So we found another place close to our house who did it for $200 cheaper in a few hours and who treated my husband like family (since they have accents in English like he does). They also checked on things Orion claimed they were needed repairs (safety concerns) and it turns out, not that serious. We'll be going there from now on and, unfortunately, at your staff's suggestion, we will not be returning to Orion!

I work next door to Orion so I thought I would try the place out - it opened recently and I had less than satisfactory experiences with other Auto Service operations. From the initial telephone call I was treated extremely professionally, all required work on my Jetta was explained fully and costs seemed reasonable. The work was completed and my car was ready exactly when I was told it was going to be. It now runs extremely well and I have no hesitation in taking my car to Orion again. I would recommend Orion to anyone.

Orion auto was so helpful to us! We hit a chunk of 18- wheeler tire on the highway in our Mini Cooper and were quite nervous something was wrong. We randomly and luckily found Orion auto. They were so friendly and immediately helped us despite their obviously busy lineup. They talked us through what was wrong, fixed what they could, and had us ready to continue our drive within an hour. They also have an awesome waiting area, the friendliest dog you've ever met, and gave us their card so we could call them with questions and for referrals. If we lived closer, they'd totally be our car people.

The folks at Orion Automotive Services are Honest, Knowledgeable, Honest, Accommodating, Honest, Helpful, Honest, Friendly, and most importantly they Provide excellent service!! They are also concerned about your wallet!!NEED I SAY MORE?....probably NOT....but I will!They are also willing to help you out in a pinch. Last year as we were packing my son's car to leave Univ of Michigan to drive back to Maryland the trunk lock jammed and the trunk would not close, therefore we could not load and pack up the car. I called Orion and although they were fully booked they said to bring the car over and they would look at it as soon as they could. They looked at it immediately, fixed the problem immediately....and DID NOT even charge me!! This year in April my son took the car if for service...the car needed some costly work done on the car...Michael worked with us to find parts that were not original Mercedes parts that were much less expensive. They also were able to replace a broken door handle for minimal amount of money after others told me it would cost quite a bit to fix because they had to take the entire door apart, blah, blah, blah!! Not the case with Orion. The only glitch was that the part was coming in after my son was coming home to MD for a few weeks, but he was leaving the car in Ann Arbor. I asked Orion if my son left the car with them, would they be able to replace the handle while he was away; the only catch was they would need to keep the car there for 3 weeks until my son came back to Ann Arbor to pick it up. Of course they agreed to keep the car, without any storage fee and also started it once in a while so that it would start when my son returned.Michael was very willing to call me to discuss the work the car needed, what the costs were, etc even though my son was the one who brought the car in for service. Michael also informed me of other service the car will need in the near future - ie new tires and brakes.I would gladly recommend Orion Automotive Services to anyone. I especially recommend them to University of Michigan students who are from out of state and are in need of honest, dependable, excellent automotive service while away from home.

Excellent and honest customer service. Had 2007 A4 serviced and timing belt changed at 113k. Car ran great than unforeseen engine trouble unrelated to prior work a week later. Orion paid to have car towed and repaired at very reasonable cost. Highly recommended!!!
