5 StarsIt takes a heck of an experience good or bad write a review about an auto repair place but I had to come and rave about them.�, as I believe they truly deserve recognition for their exceptional service.After my car was involved in an ice accident, I had it towed to the Ann Arbor Chevy Dealer for repairs due to its being a new car. However, after 12 days, the dealer had not even looked at the car to assess the damage, estimating a month-long repair time and a cost of around $4k.Frustrated with the delay, I decided to take my car to Hoover based on their previous work. To my delight, they completed a full inspection the next morning and had my car fully repaired and back in excellent shape in just 2 days, all at a fraction of the dealer's estimated cost.I cannot praise Hoover Auto Repair enough for their outstanding work and the professionalism of their staff. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of auto repairs. They have certainly earned my 5-star rating!

Short review: Good folks! Knowledgeable & Professional, will absolutely be using them for all needed work moving forward!Long review:My 2001 Toyota sat and rotted down south before I bought it and got it running (I'm a shade tree mechanic on my best days) so I was wholly unsurprised when I drove it 1500 miles then parked it in the first snow it ever experienced and a good number of the bits I was keeping an eye on finally went out.I walked into Hoover Street Auto just after Christmas and spoke with them. They knew their stuff and I was confident using them. I had no issue setting up an appointment for that Friday with the understanding I would get the car back Tuesday (New Year weekend), but that was fine because I didn't need it until Tuesday night.They went above and beyond getting the work done and having it ready for me to pick up by the time they closed that Friday so I would have it for the weekend. Sure, it was in part because they weren't terribly busy, but it's rare to have a company quote you a pickup day then deliver early, regardless of the circumstances.After I got it back and drove it for several days it became apparent the new power steering pump was faulty. They got it warrantied out and, again, got the car back to me in record time.I couldn't be happier with my experience.Other than being outstanding people, their labor rates are fair and they didn't try to sell me on the unnecessary work that I know it still needs (again, it sat and rotted before I got it) but they ensured it was good to drive until I get around to doing more work on it.

Just had my '15 Jeep Wrangler in for some routine maintenance and repair, and couldn't be more satisfied. Exceptional communication from the staff from diagnosis to evaluation to completion of the work! Replaced all four shocks, rear brake drums and shoes, coolant service, full vehicle inspection, new air filter, and it was all done in a day. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for anyone needing service on their vehicle!

After learning from my car dealership that a control arm in my car needed replacing, I had Hoover give me a second opinion. Making an appointment was easy and they saw me within the week. Before replacing the control arm, there was a thorough inspection on my vehicle. I was most impressed with the detailed report that included pictures letting me know exactly what needed to be done. Ed and his staff finished the job in a day. I felt valued as a customer and will continue to patronize their business.

My good buddy Mike, who takes excellent care of my S4 over at Stadium Auto, sent me over to Hoover street to get the timing belt fixed on my Honda. These guys did a great job, really fast turnaround and fixed me up perfect! Reliable, excellent service is worth its weight in gold when you're getting auto work done, and these guys are the best.

Would highly recommend this place. The prices are very high. I went here for a pre purchase inspection. After looking at the car they were able to tell me everything wrong with the car. They saved me from buying a lemon. The guys at Hoover are very friendly and knowledgeable. You get what you pay for I guess. I appreciate all there help.

Dave and team at Hoover Street went way out of their way to make my weekend and next week far far easier. I brought my car in Friday just after noon with no expectations. Not only did they look at it right away, but they had a fix that got me back on the road the same day.My new supervisor is in town next week and now I don't have any competing priorities and can do what I need to do - and they didn't even know.I've lived in Ann Arbor for 2 years and had a couple misfires with mechanics before now. Great communications, super reliable, and surprisingly affordable for pretty much being on campus. 10/10 would recommend.Service: Exhaust

Brought in my car with multiple issues including a much-needed clutch replacement. The service was amazing, I got all of my questions answered and felt very well taken care of. Car is working like a charm and they even showed me how to check for future issues with my coolant tank. Highly recommend coming here for small or big repairs!

I had a myriad of things to be checked along with basic maintenance on my '17 Forester. I was treated with respect, the service was fast, and the fees were quite reasonable for the amount of work I had done. Highly recommend.

We love Hoover Street Auto. Diagnoses are spot on, and service is prompt, efficient, and scheduling is respected. We've been to many auto mechanics in Ann Arbor over the years, and do not plan to go to anyone else now.

What a great experience!.. Daughter had a vehicle issue and Hoover St Auto was able to quickly take the car in, properly diagnose the problem and send over complete documentation concerning repairs.. Within 24 hours, back on the road, follow up calls and a customer earned for life. Thanking everyone @ Hoover St Auto for their professionalism and concern. I do not recommend going here they are clearly just out to get your money...they told me that my repairs would cost $2800 on my Hummer H3 just for the front brake caliper driver side,both front rotors brakes and a driver side wheel bearing.!! Now I ordered my own parts witch was both front wheel bearings,both front rotors,both front brake calipers and pads for about $450 on Amazon and paid my mechanic $280 to fix the issues and nothing else was needed to be done.My truck runs perfect now..DONT GO TO THESE PEOPLE I've never heard of prices to be so high for minor work..NOO!! They also try and tell you all these other things that need to be done witch was a lie smh 4/2/2024 update I'm definitely not upset just speaking the truth and you know it...I'm just glad I didn't waste unnecessary money with you all,you're trying to rip people tf off.My truck only needed what I said it needed now it drives perfectly without me spending money at any high cost...DONT BE MAD BECAUSE YOU GOT A BAD REVIEW THATS LIFE BUDDY

Outstanding service! Ed and Tom are priceless to this organization. Upon arriving, they heard my car(yes, the noise was terrible) and said it would take 5 minutes. What!! Only 5 minutes .and they knew what it needed, fixed it, and I was out the door. I was flabbergasted to say the least. These guys are the BEST.Thanks again and very much appreciated. I will tell everyone I know about you guys.

We have been working with the "street auto" group since 2015 when we moved to Michigan. We have taken our cars to Stadium Street Auto, State Street Auto, and now Hoover Street Auto. They were all great. Hoover is 10/10 for sure. They have established so much trust with us that I can confidently recommend them to everyone. They are honest about what needs to be done on a car. If they ever make any mistakes, they are upfront about it and resolve it. We have paid them LOTS of money over the years (multiple cars, lots of maintenance, I break things sometimes...) and I will gladly continue to hire them for all of our auto needs.

We were in Ann Arbor for a medical appointment when the axle of our vehicle broke and left us stranded. We had the van towed to Hoover Street Auto to get it looked at. They could not get to it that day, but had it diagnosed and repaired be the end of the week.

These people were great to deal with. Quick appointment, knowledgeable, good service and price. The 23 year old car had a check engine light on. For about $200 bucks, I made the easy decision to have them read the codes and diagnose parts. I even got photos in my test report of the 3 parts that have slowly gone bad, so now I know what I'm replacing.

Hoover Street Auto Repair is the kind of business that all auto shops should strive to be. From the inquiry phone call I made until the end of business between us, they were absolutely stellar. Upon inspection, I got a detailed inspection report complete with 34 detailed pictures pin-pointing everything they found on the vehicle. I have NEVER got this complete of a report from a auto shop.I don't think I have ever dealt with a more genuine, customer service driven auto shop. Rob and Dave were super patient and detailed in all of our communication. Hoover St diagnosed my headlights not working as a corroded relay in the battery junction box. The repair was done within a week, delayed only due to obtaining a part on a 10-year old car from out of state. They also reconnected a loose heat shield on the underside of the car. Shortly after the repair, I receive a notification from Ford Motor that there was a national recall on the battery junction box for the exact repair I'd just had completed with Hoover. The recall stated that they would refund any previous repairs provided a detailed receipt was provided. I contacted Hoover St and told them about the recall, and asked if they could add additional details, just to be sure Ford would cover it. They added a lot of very detailed notes to the invoice and emailed it to me so I wouldn't have to pick it up. They didn't have to do that for me, but they went above and beyond. This was my first visit to Hoover St, also, so it's not like I was a consistent customer. However, they will definitely be seeing me again for future repairs and maintenance.Services: Vehicle Inspection, Auto maintenance

My car battery died, and I walked in to ask for help. Since I live across the street and couldn t start my car, Scott kindly offered to walk to my car and jumpstart it. He was incredibly helpful and saved me money! Highly recommended!

The employees are very friendly and patient, they remember their customers, they are good at communicating, and I appreciate their thoroughness in documenting their work. They were good at explaining their opinions and helped prioritize the most important areas. They've also been great at follow-ups and alleviating concerns. When I told my wife how impressed I was, she decided to bring her car in as well. I definitely intend to come back for future car needs.Services: Vehicle Inspection, Auto maintenance, Oil change

This shop is 10/10. They are responsible, kind, and prompt. We have taken out cars here for years. They have helped me out when I had a dealership nightmare oil change and more recently when the dealership was trying to scam me into doing a lot of maintenance that had already been done. Honesty is my number one priority with mechanics, and I find it here.

There are mechanics and there are Mechanics. Hoover is a Mechanic. I am an old school car buyer, particularly early model Asian vehicles. I have used various mechanics in the area including Hoover, which has always provided quality repairs. My most recent was a prestine 1999 Acura. I had more of a trouble shooting request just to have the car in tip top shape but when I called two other "Asian repair specialists" ( both closer to my home) I was immediatley told my car was too old, no follow up questions or clarifications, just a short refusal. I called Hoover to schedule and not one comment about the age of the vehicle or hesitation to service. I brought it in, signed off on the estimate for diagnosis, and waited for the results. Turns out I am a dummy and misunderstood the gauges and nothing was wrong but was instead operating the car wrong. They let me know and because my error was obvious, and they discovered it immediatley, they did not charge me. I was impressed and humbled by their willingness and honesty. Like I said, Mechanics.

Hoover Street Auto Repair was very responsive and got the work done quickly based on my constraints. The car still had issues but they were willing to take it back and make sure it was in perfect condition without an extra charge. I was very grateful. They are all very nice and conveniently located as well.

I took my Ford Focus here for the first time after experiencing a really bad, grinding sound with my brakes for almost two weeks. I dropped off my car in the morning and it was available by the end of the day which was much appreciated! The guys at the counter answered all my questions. They also did a good job of keeping me updated on the status of the repairs as well as were kind enough to follow up the next day to see how the car was driving. Hoover street auto repair is a great group of people to do business with. They treat you with respect, and take all of your questions seriously. I had them put a new engine in my Subaru Forester and found their work to be excellent. The work was performed in a timely manner and they kept me updated thru texts and pictures. The service at Hoover Street Auto is the best I've experienced at a shop thus far. They got me in very quickly, and were very communicative. They did a full assessment of my vehicle and advised which items were critical. They were upfront about all fees and services every step of the way. My vehicle really gave them a hard time, but they kept at it. I really appreciate their thoroughness and integrity. On top of all that, the guys were easy to talk to. I had to get a lot of work done, and the price seemed fair to me given the parts, labor, and all the care they took to make sure my vehicle was safe to drive. Updated 7/25/2023:I had one of my cars fixed there a few years ago and earned some rewards. When I brought another car in for a very expensive repair a year later, I was denied to apply the rewards to the bill. I was pretty upset about that and decided not to go back to this mechanic again. However, after complaining about this in a review on Google recently, I was contacted immediately and offered a refund in the amount of rewards. It was explained to me on the phone that perhaps a new person hired at that time did not know how to handle the rewards.
