I have been using these guys for all my cars, repair and maintenance they are amazing. They do wonderful job very professional, reasonable pricing. They did a pretty good job replacing my tire, which was run into while parked, and the relevant mechanical issues with it. I wish they would have tried to repair my busted spare tire, which another shop down the road did. They were also not super clear on towing and didn't inform me of a big crack in my windshield, but maybe they didn't notice. Not bad overallService: Tires

I want to start off by saying this man had EVERY opportunity in the world to take advantage of me, I walked in a frantic mess telling him I have no idea how cars work but I thought I needed my brake pads changed because of a squealing and that overall it was overdue for a service check.I dropped it off at 11:30, and I got a call about an hour later saying my car was actually in great shape & I was just due for an oil change! :) Turns out, something just needed to be cleaned under one of my brakes & that solved the problem entirely. He even put air in one of my tires and took off a broken rubber piece without charging me.I walked away from what I was expecting to be a $800+ day, with a smooth driving car and a simple oil change. Polite, quick, informative & professional. I'll recommend Car Doctor to everyone I know now, and this will be my go-to place for sure. He even let me know my back tires should be replaced soon and told me the cheapest places to go.Thank you guys!Services: Vehicle Inspection, Brakes, Oil change

Very happy with my experience at Lou's. They perfectly fixed a problem with my car at half the price that was quoted by another shop. My car works great again, and I saved tons of money. They are honest and trustworthy, and that is the number one thing I look for when choosing a mechanic. As long as I live in this area, they will have my business!

This is hands-down the best mechanic I've been to. Lou's is a friendly small shop with great people. They take the time to explain the problem with the car, then go over the repair options so you know what they will do. They've always been fast and around average price, but the quality of work and the integrity of the people really set them a cut above. I will never take my car anywhere else .

I have not been a Lou's customer for long, but I have had only positive experiences so far. I've had my vehicle in twice for a coolant flush and some suspension work. Both times, Dan and his team were able to get me taken care of. Fees are reasonable and the customer service is good!

Took my Buick there with transmission problems They were very upfront, helpful. They've been there forever and had great reviews. And with good reason. They do quality work and know what they are doing. Will try other things before overhauling if they have a chance to fix it. In my case a Trans flush & cooler (Very reasonable price to do it and I wanted to have one anyway). Trans was OK for a while but went back to not shifting right. The did a complete overhaul and at less than I feared. What are you gonna do? You can't throw away the car... Other repair places offered to do it but if I was going to do it I wanted someone that did it every day. Very happy with them and glad they are here in town. Oh, I didn't know as a Veteran I got a discount but they saw my Military licence plate and gave it to me without asking. That's Honest!

Lou did a great job on my truck! He was very professional and punctual in working on my vehicle and getting it back to me in a very timely manner. I found his prices to be reasonable. I appreciate his keen insight in addressing all of my concerns, without any additional charge. I will be going back to him and highly recommend this place!

My husband and I both have needed auto work done, and these guys went above and beyond. Not only did they fix our issues, they did a thorough all over check of both our vehicles. My car broke down in Ann Arbor and every place that we called to help as we lived an hour plus away at the time would not tell us what to do.Car Doctor answered the phone and promptly explained exactly who to call and how to get it there.They were amazing and I m so glad they helped.Even though there was nothing wrong with my car (just an operator error), they spent the time to go through everything they could think could be wrong! Love Lou s. They are honest, reasonable and fast. You get to know them and you know you can trust. They aren t trying to get you to add 20 additional services every time you go there. I have had my brakes done there, oil changes, and they fixed a piece on my transmission that only cost me a couple hundred dollars, instead of trying to get me to do a total fix for $1000s. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Lou's staff from front end to back in the shop is PHENOMENAL. They treated me with the utmost respect and were nothing short of honest and transparent the entire time. Even after I paid for a complete transmission rebuild and still had problems with my 2009 Equinox, they held onto my car until they were sure they had made it right - free of charge. I would recommend their services to anyone with transmission issues.

Dan was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He gave me a detailed list of solutions for my transmission problem and the freedom to make my own decision. The staff worked diligently to get me back on the road. Days after, Dan personally checked back in with me to see if I was satisfied with the work, which was appreciated. I would highly recommend this place.

I was traveling from out of town when the brakes went on my car. Not only did they get my vehicle in to diagnose the problem at 4:30pm on a Friday afternoon, but when I showed up at 9am Monday morning they already had it up and they were working on it. I got a thorough explanation of what went wrong, and was charged a fair and honest price. Great people to work with!Service: Brakes

They hire people who are not mechanic or technicians. I took my car for exhaust sound issue. They charged me but never fixed the issue. The mechanic dropped the back side of exhaust pipe twice on the ground and bent it and could not put it together. THEY ARE CHEATERS, DONT GO THERE.

Service was quick and professional. Lou really cares about his customers after more than 20 years in business (that should speak for itself). My problem could not go away without spending alot of money so they advised me to carefully monitor the problem. My car has over 140,000 miles on it and the transmission is starting to show wear. I would go there again in an instant!!!

I have been going to Lou's for a few years now and he has always given me honest, no-nonsense service and recommendations. Everyone working there has been polite and helpful to me. I am always told what the diagnosis is and what my best options are.This is my go-to auto repair shop in Ann Arbor and I recommend it to anyone who needs work done on their car.

I came to Car Doctor as it's always been recommended to me, I went to do my brakes the process didn't take long and I was happy with the service. Had a catastrophic failure on the transmission of my old Explorer. It honestly looked like it might be totaled. Had it towed to Lou's, they jumped right on it (even though it was the Friday before Christmas). Replaced the leaking cooling lines, verified the tranny was still good and had me back on the road in just a few hours. Life savers.

If you're looking for a good auto shop that specializes in transmissions and drivetrains, stop searching. Not only did they fit me in on a busy afternoon, but they returned my car same day, fixed the issue I was experiencing with my AWD subie, and did it all at a fair price. No surprises, no additional services, just a solid experience. I can see why Lou's has been an Ann Arbor institution for 20 years.

Lou got my trans replaced in my Super Duty in less than a week! My truck drives like a champ now, I cannot recommend him enough! Was straightforward, less expensive, and quicker than any other shop!

Over the years Lou has taken wonderful care of 3 generations of my family, my father, myself and now my children. He goes above and beyond to take care of his customers including transporting my elderly father to and from the shop. Our loyalty is due to his fair, honest and professional service/pricing taking extra care of seniors and students, everyone I have referred agrees Lou has the best deals in town!

I visited Car Doctor at 5:00 pm on a Tuesday because a warning light went on on my dashboard. They checked the code for me (turns out it was just low tire pressure) and inflated my tires for free! Thank you so much Car Doctor : ) : ) : )

Updated 2/18/2018Lou retired. The business is now owned by his Nephew, still out standing service and will still continue to use for repairs I'm unable to do myself or don't have the equipment to do. I had a second vehicle that had trans axle problems around January of 2018 and I took it into him.In 2013 I had the transmission for my 1998 ford ranger rebuilt. Two years latter, the transmission is still going strong.

Took my 2004 GMC 2500 HD in to see Dan for a transmission rebuild. Truck was done on time no issues shifts great. Will definitely be returning for all of my transmission needs

These guys have REAL mechanics. They don't just plug in a computer and see what it says. Had my car at the Subaru dealership because I figured they would be the most knowledgeable on my vehicle. They tried to sell me a new engine for $9000.00! The people at Wolverine Transmission repaired the car for $1300.00 a savings of $7700.00. They further showed me the problem and proved to me that the dealer did absolutely nothing to diagnose the problem.Its hard to find old school mechanics anymore but they are alive and living at Wolverine Transmission.

Good pricing and service! I had to get in quick to get a vehicle that I was thinking of buying inspected. Lou's fit me in, did a thorough job and I was out of there in no time.
