The only place I trust with my car. Been going to Tim for years and will continue to go back. Honest about what needs to be done and fair pricing. When my previous car was having issues with overheating, he told me that it was time to get rid of it. He told me what needed to be done and how much it would run and that it might still not fix the issue. He also pointed out that if I do all the work, it's still going to be a car with 150,000 miles on it. He knew that I loved that car, and he could have tried to sell me on the repairs but instead was honest with me.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Auto A/C recharge, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Wheel alignment, Transmission repair, Brakes, Auto emissions testing, Auto maintenance, Auto brake replacement, Battery, Oil change

I hate to even give this place 1 star. Terrible experience- I was taken advantage of. My car was overheating while idling but fine while moving- googled the issue and found it was most likely the cooling fan. I m new to the area and am trying to find a mechanic, so I called Tim s Auto and dropped it off. Over the phone, he confirmed it was most likely a cooling fan issue. After a few hours, I get a call that they have diagnosed the problem as the cooling fan and it will need to be replaced. They gave me an estimate of $700.Since I drive an older car, I decided I would rather look into buying another used vehicle instead of putting more money into my 19 year old car, and decided not to do the repair. I was then told (for the first time) that there was a diagnosis fee of $100/hr for labor.First of all, I ve never been charged more than $20 for just diagnosis at any other mechanic if I didn t decide to proceed with the repair. When I asked why they do not tell customers about the hourly rate up front, Tim responded No one ever asks. I made the mistake of letting Tim s Auto do my oil change while it was already in his shop. I asked about conventional oil, but was told that they use a synthetic blend which would cost me $50. Tim made it seem that a synthetic blend was the only option they offered, and I didn t think to insist because I foolishly thought he was trustworthy.I took my car to Firestone, where they offered to waive their usual diagnosis fee (only $10) because I had already paid $100 for diagnosis that day, and look my car over. They confirmed the cooling fan issue and gave me an estimate of just $250 for parts and labor total, which I happily agreed to.If you go to Tim s, be on guard for aggressive upselling and sneaky hidden costs. I ll be going to Firestone from now on.
