Haven't been here in a while but it's very reasonable pricing and work was very prompt. They said once that it would take a week with parts wait but turned out to only be a day. I love that I live near this place. Definitely coming back if I ever run into something I can't fix.

I recently took my vehicle to McCracken for some diagnostic and repair work. I was very impressed with the staff's professionalism and quality of work. I live in the same neighborhood as McCracken's, so I use them frequently. On this occasion I needed front brakes replaced and the oil changed. The girl at the front desk took careful notes of what I was reporting as the problem then the mechanics addressed the issues systematically and effectively. They are the best. The job gets done well and in a timely manner and you don't feel like you are being swindled. The car is now running great again. I feel lucky to have them nearby.Service: General repairs & maintenance

The receptionist is nice, but still just as sketchy.First they tell me it will be $1,600 for a new left front lower control arm, bushings, oil change, air filter and conditioning re charge, which is obviously too much and I tell them just as much.I then tell them to fix the most important things which are the left front lower control arm and the bushings, and they tell me that it will be $1,000, which again I know is too much.So I again ask them how much for just the bushings and they tell me $500 which is even more crazy.They then proceed to warn me (threaten) that they will have to write my car off as unsafe to drive if I dont get both fixed so I tell them thats fine just fixed the bushings. At this point I just wanted my car back.After the weekend they call me again and tell me that they miraculously fount a left front lower control arm with bushings attatched, but I think they could tell that I was now suspicious and they were not going to be able to squeeze any more money out of me, so now it will only cost me $423. Still a ridiculously hight price.I get the receipt back and the control arm turns out to have only cost $97, and they charged me $230 for 1.5 hours of labor which only came out to $328, and they charged me another $95 for "taxes and miscellaneous charges"??? the prices are EXTREME.Know that I told them my car was also over heating when you drive it for 20mins, and they tell me they drove my car around and cant get it to overheat (which is a lie). I get my car back two days later and 25 mins into the drive my car starts overheating and 10mins later the hood starts steaming, my break lights come on, my coolant had completely leaked out, and my car cant move and I have to get towed home.Along with the receipt, they gave me future prices for the coolant recharge and air filter change. For a $45 recharge they would charge me $172 for 1.2 hours of labour. It seems like price of the part they order is low they will triple the labor cost.These people will try to squeeze every last dime they can out of you if you look like you dont know anything or just obviously moved to the area. It is obvious they did not take my car for a drive to check the overheating issue and probably messed something up in the process of fixing my car.Lesson Learned: Just go to your regular mechanic who would never rip you off and actually fix your car.

I came in with a check engine light on, was nervous about what the issue might be, was I going to be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix the issue?Luckily I decided not to go to the Alston Toyota dealer and tried McCracken. Mark was great to chat with and told me to come in later that day. The technician checked the computer code which said I had a major fuel system leak, he asked if I'd recently refueled (I hadn't but had noticed the cap loose/off the last time I did), he told me the loose cap was likely all that was wrong. He cleared the code and told me to come back in if I had another issue. I asked what I owed for the diagnosis, nothing they said. Wow! Awesome honest mechanics!!I went in for a general inspection of the car later that month. They were great to work with, the service was done quickly and the cost was reasonable.I'm recommending McCracken to anyone who needs a good honest mechanic who is easy to talk with and seems to really know what they're doing. THANKS AGAIN!

Locally owned business. They take good care of you and your car. They do excellent work and explain what work is needed and why. Their prices are fair. They now message you and have you call them so that you can be sure to speak with the person who is supervising your work.

This place is the real deal! They are up front about costs and give point by point gor each repair. I really appreciate the digital look over aspect as well. They did a great job on my car- I found a mechanic I will return to!

I have been going to McCrackens for over 30 years, I ve been through 7 cars and I have taken each one to them. If you re worried about being ripped off take your car to them, they are very professional, honest and their prices are exceptionally reasonable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this establishment. They will diagnose and call you with very detailed information and recommendations before they work on it. So if you have an issue with your car it won t hurt to try them out, I guarantee you won t be sorry.

After failing inspection, called Lindsey at McCracken who worked me into their schedule in no-time. They were able to find me the best, least expensive options for repair, completed them within the day AND took care of the re-inspection process, wow! I ve been with McCracken for decades. They consistently provide me with quality service at reasonable prices and in quick turnaround time. Plus the people who work there are just really nice. They always understand when I say, I m kind of broke :-) And do the best that they can with that consideration in mind.

A neighbor recommended McCracken several years ago, and I haveused them ever since. The staff is always friendly, and explain the different options for the work being done. I especially like McCrackenExpress for quick oil changes, stickers etc.

A close friend of mine suggested I use McCracken. She was always raving about it. Finally, when my car needed calipers and pads replaced I took it. Best service I have ever had. They are honest, friendly and really make an effort to get to know you. I received a text from the with a link to the photos they had taken from the parts that were worn and needed replacement. They are great.

Lindsey and the team were super nice and explained everything to me very well. Car repairs can be an expensive and stressful process, but McCracken made it as pain free as possible. It was my first time there, and I will be back for future repairs.

I have been taking my (older) Mazda and Volvo to McCracken in West Roxbury for the past 10 years. Jason and Lindsey are upfront and always looking to save costs wherever they can. Even though car repairs are expensive I am always appreciative of their efforts!. I highly recommend them.

First of all, this place is overpriced. We used their service several times, and was charged far more than other places.Secondly, the mechanic there are incompetent. Our car had a problem on tire pressure sensor, and we had McCracken to fix it. However, the car came back with problematic sensor system. The sensor light is on all the time. We sent the car back several times, and the mechanic there couldn't solve the problem. We won't go back this place again, and in case they will ruin our whole electronic system as mentioned in the earlier bad review...I admit they are friendly, but please be cautious that your car's problem is very likely not solved even you paid more than other places to McCracken for it.

Great local place with solid customer service. Have been taking my cars to the Express location at the Shell Oil Station for oil changes and tire rotations; they also have checked my brakes. I have been happy every time. They offer a punch card for oil changes so your fourth one is free, what's not to love! The full service shop down the road is very knowledgeable and I have been satisfied with their service as well; they've done my breaks and other small repairs without any issues.

The check engine light in our sons car was on and while we were pretty sure it was due our daughter not putting the gas cap on tightly, we weren't sure. I called McCracken and they said bring it by whenever you have the chance and we'll clear the code. We brought the car in and they cleared the code and ascertained that it most likely was the gas cap. We have had to pay $75 to have this done at the dealer before. McCracken's staff was so nice, kind and helpful. They didn't charge us a dime and sent us on our way. We wouldn't go anywhere else

The McKracken crew is the best! I ve entrusted them with both of our families vehicles and they always shine through with honesty and top quality work. my car is 1992 Miata and it burst its head gasket and radiator. Many things had to be fixed and parts hard to find .they did a great job --always professional and experienced and reliable. I was referred to McCracken Auto from my previous mechanic (Advanced Auto in Uxbridge, MA) when I moved closer to Boston. McCracken was fantastic and quick! They also were very helpful with a loaner car. I have found a new mechanic and would recommend them to anyone!

I brought my 2003 Ford van in for a simple one hour helicoil to be put in.They started working on it on a Monday and I thought it would be ready the same day, it wasn t. I went there the next day at 3PM after work and it was still in the garage. He told me I should probably come back the next day (Wednesday) because he doubted the mechanic would stay past 5:30 to finish it. I said what are you talking about the job is simple, you quoted me a price of around a hundred dollars and he s been working on it all day? And tomorrow? That would be three days in the garage for a helicoil.I said I ll stay I need my van. Around 6PM he came out and said you have significant engine damage, it sounds like chunks of metal in there . I couldn t believe it, I said you drove it into the shop just fine and you start it to bring it out and the engines junk? He couldn t answer me. I have all the messages that I will be posting soon enough showing how they lied to me and got caught doing it. I need this van for work and Jason knows that. I ve been losing money because of this place since it happened and he played games with me for the past two months saying he would fix it.He s obviously taking advantage of the courts backlog but it s in the Attorney Generals office hands now.If anyone wants to contact me directly about this I will share what I can for now.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I ve been lucky enough with my Toyota Matrix that in the four years i ve owned it, I haven t really needed any work done on it besides the usual oil change and new tires. Then last week out of the blue I started my car and heard a loud, rumbling, rattling sound that would not go away. Fearing the worst, I started looking around for a good mechanic near my neighborhood (Roslindale).From the moment I spoke with Lindsey at Mccracken I knew I was in good hands. She was clearly detail oriented taking down exactly what I was experiencing and of course all my contact info. We scheduled an appointment for a few days later. The place couldn t be easier for someone commuting out of/living near Forest Hills - the 35/36 practically drop you off in its lot. Lindsey was super friendly yet very professional in person. I dropped my car off and that afternoon received a call letting me know that the rattling was simply a rusty heat shield! But the team went above and beyond to test for other possible problems, as I had mentioned I thought I smelled an strange exhaust smell as well (though this was probably just a fluke due to the sudden cold snap here). Even for a simple fix, Lindsey gave me a thorough report on the work that was done.All in all I was out only about $50 bucks and picked up my car the same day, no more rattling! Lindsey remembered my name and greeted me as soon as I walked in. Really she is so nice to work with. Clearly there is great communication and management within this business, which makes for excellent customer service. I m so glad I picked this place, and will absolutely be coming here again!

Mccracken of West Roxbury serviced my Prius suspension and several other jobs in August and I wish to tell others how happy I am with the work. My car is almost twelve years old and after McCracken's expert team completed repairs on my suspension as well as fixing the electronic trunk release my car now drives as if new and rides smoothly and is mechanically sound. I just brought in my car followed by wife's car to get some things fixed that could have run in the thousands but were fixed for much less. A big plus for me these days was the no contact drop-off and pickup. Just call and ask. I got timely repair updates via phone and email during the service process. Thank You!!!!
