I have been coming to Wilmington Auto for about 4 years now for both my own and my wife s car. It s always easy to write a review when things go according to plan, but what prompted me to finally leave these 5 stars is because how they handled when something went wrong. Russ and his son Trevor went above and beyond to make right an issue with a repair that had been performed. It was some of the best customer service I d ever experienced.I can t recommend these guys enough. Your car is in good hands here. Honest trustworthy mechanics. A+

I am incredibly grateful to this team for the exceptional service I received here. A few years ago I began having problems with my AC and had a diagnostic done at a different business. This other business incorrectly diagnosed the issue and told me it was a very complicated and expensive repair, so I intentionally put it off and went without AC in my car the last two summers. Since that experience I have spoken to many other mechanics and dealerships about the issue, none of whom were able to help me and would not give me an adequate explanation of why they couldn't. Wilmington Auto Repair and Transmission Center was recommended to me so I reached out, half expecting another rejection. Instead I received incredible service from start to finish.I spoke with Trevor over the phone while making the appointment, and met both Russ and Bob in the shop when I went in. All three were extremely helpful, professional, and welcoming. Russ explained every detail of what he believed the real issue was, ran a new diagnostic, found out the original report I was given was incorrect, called me with a quote before making any repairs, and the team completely fixed the problem the very same day. When I went in to pick up my car Russ went above and beyond to show me the damaged part he had removed from my car and showed me images from the diagnostic to help explain how they determined the true cause of the problem. I am not very familiar with cars but I still prefer to learn and understand what went wrong and how it was fixed - Russ patiently described every step to me with a level of kindness and respect that I have not received at any other auto repair shop or dealership.I will be returning here for all future car services. My only regret is that I didn't come here years ago (would have saved me a couple of hot AC-less summers, and a LOT of frustration)!! Had just moved to the area and was looking for a good mechanic. When on Google and came across these guys. Called them to schedule an appointment to get my power steering rack replaced. Trevor answer the phone and told me I could bring my car down and he would take a look at it.. so I did.. Trevor took a look at it and told me he had to order me a power steering rack and he could have it fixed the next day. I was super happy especially for the price he told me! Trevor changed my power steering rack... now I have no more leaking fluid!! It took me 6 months to write this review because I wanted to see how my car would drive after.. my Infinity drive great after I went to see these guy! I would definitely bring my car to Wilmington auto repair and transmission again. Trevor thank you so much for your service! My Infinity drive great! You're very professional kind and caring.

Visited this location for brake replacements back in 2017. Was greeted by an older man and a younger kid. They replaced all of my brake pads and rotors very quickly. Everything seemed to come back perfectly fine. Unfortunately one of the guys who worked on my car did not mount my brake line properly. I began my trip up north and my brake line rubbed up against my tire while driving and burst. I noticed my brakes were completely shot when going 70MPH on the highway which could've killed me. The brake fluid had completely ruined the paint all around my front right tire and then spots all down both doors and rear bumper. I had to drive until I found a dealership in a town I was completely unfamiliar with. Originally Wilmington Auto did not want to own up to their mistake and said "things can come loose". Not sure how a brake line magically comes loose after owning the car for 3 years after a brake replacement.Wilmington Auto did reimburse me for the repair to the brake line that was replaced by the dealership. But Wilmington Auto could tell I was not fully familiar with cars. What they had explained to me was "Brake fluid will not do any damage to your paint, you could pour Brake Fluid down the side of your entire car and it would cause no issues". I was quoted roughly $2000 to have my car repainted. They recommended I chase after the company who had done previous work to my car because "they didn't paint it correctly".If you want a place that is willing to take advantage of you if you don't know anything about cars, this is the place to go!

This is where all the mythical 'honest mechanics' work.They have the lowest shop rate in the area. They don't scalp on parts (standard upcharge but they warranty all work done with parts they buy). They are lightning fast, I've been there several times and any regular service or repairs never take longer than a day. Not only is work done fast but it's done right, and I've never had an issue come up with work they've done. They will only recommend needed work, and will tell you directly if work you think you need or someone else says you should get done isn't needed for your car. The parts they buy and the consumables they use are all quality. They'll never lie to, cheat, or swindle you.Russ and Trevor both are great people. They'll remember your name and your car, and are professional and candid at the same time.Services: Transmission, Exhaust, Tires, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Oil change

I've brought my car here a few times. A+ service every time. The last go around, I brought my car here for a second opinion and they were able to fit me in same day and told me it was my wheel bearing (~$740) that was going out and not the rear differential (~1k+) that the other shop claimed. They were able to fix up the car once I scheduled an appt and that terrible noise was gone. Prices are also reasonable (BMW owner so price comes with the territory). I'll for sure be bringing my car back and have recommended this repair shop to my friends.

If I could rate this shop more then 5 stars I would. I have been going here with just about every car I owned , that needed repairs. Russ is one of the best mechanics around hands down. The whole shop clearly takes pride in their work , and it shows! I can't thank them enough for always doing an awesome job.

Someone recommended this company to me as I was having power steering issue and I was greeted by Trevor very professionally and respectfully when I walked through the door which instantly made me feel like I was going to be serviced the same way and sure enough I was. I cannot say enough about this experience. My car was ready in a short time and very reasonable bill. My only regret is that I didn't go there sooner. Thank you Trevor and Russ and to the gentleman that referred me to them. If you are having mechanical issues check them out you will be glad you did.

Wilmington Transmission & Services is the ONLY place I will take my car for any repair they perform. I have been doing business with Russ for close to 25 years and he is the most reputable, honest, hard-working, fair & kind auto technician I have ever dealt with. His senior technician, Scott, is also phenomenal. The work they perform is done to the highest of standards at a fraction of what dealerships charge. They are sincere about their evaluation and always strive for perfection. No work is done sub-par and all work that is done, is absolutely necessary. Scott & Russ will always find the most cost effective way to repair your car. I highly recommend Wilmington Transmission & Services! You will never go anywhere else!

I was looking for a new local auto mechanic. I read some of this company's online reviews and decided to use him. I dropped off my car, 2008 CTS4, which was having shifting problems. Inherent in this model Cadillac.Russ checked it out and advised me that the drive shaft was bad, which I already knew. He also mentioned that the differential may have to be replaced. Fairly expensive repairs but I was already aware of the possible costs. The drive shaft was readily available so he recommended that it be replaced first and see how the car responded. It is the best the car has run in a couple of years. At the same time he noticed a "noise" in the rear driver side wheel/brake. Something was bent and he fixed it. Car checked out first day. Repairs done the next. I couldn't be happier with his service and repairs. I believe I have found my new honest auto mechanic.

I would not hesitate to refer anyone to Wilmington Auto Repair & TransmissionI was having what I thought were transmission issues with my Jeep. The issue had gotten worse after a failed attempt in 2016 by a Jeep dealer to diagnose and fix the issue. I decided to try having it fixed again (10/2020) and Wilmington Auto came highly recommended by my local tire / auto repair shop for any sort of specialty transmission work. Wilmington Transmission fixed the unfixable but it wasn't my transmission :) Read on....After describing the issues I was having with the car to Russ and the backstory of the failed Jeep dealer repair in 2016; he asked me to provide the vehicle service history. After the initial diagnostic they first called and informed me of several issues with the engine, identifying 2 cylinders experiencing misfiring and recommended addressing those issues first. The initial repair and estimate included, plugs, wires and a cleaning of the valve / throttle body. When that was done they called and were very clear that the engine was still not running right. They wanted it to be right and they wanted me to be satisfied with the result so they gave me a choice of either stopping the repair at that point or pushing ahead with some additional recommendations which I authorized. Within a day they had diagnosed a significant compression issue in one of the cylinders which they remedied by chemically cleaning the intake valves and also freeing a stuck ring within the cylinder. Wow!I am telling you that jeep has 190,000+ miles on it and runs like new again.These days its nice when you find a business that you can rely on to do a good job and stand behind their work. Altgough he could not fit my truck in his shop he was very helpful. Pleasant and honest to deal with. He also recommended another shop that could fit my truck in. The other shop had nothing but good things to say about them. Highly recommended. I went to him first because he came highly recommended by my mechanic.

Wilmington Auto saved me thousands of dollars by repairing my 2014 Nissan Murano from needing a new engine. I had never been there before and stopped by with severe smoking coming from my exhaust. I overfilled the crankcase and caused this problem myself.Russ, instead of trying to sell me on a rebuilt engine. Took the time, researched and came up with ideas on how this problem may be resolved. He came up with a possible solution tried it and it worked. All at a reasonable price. Russ and his crew rebuilt my son's transmission and so far it's working great. Russ is very personable and let's you know upfront what work needs to be done. This is the second car in our family he has worked on in the past few months.

The owner has made my experience has made this experience as great as possible. Hard to find a trustworthy aknowledgeable auto technician but these guys have got the rest of my business. They're not only great mechanics but very patient as they were dealing with an extremely difficult after market warranty company but they got the job done to my complete satisfaction. They are true professionals. You won't be disappointed with their work. Good luck!

My boyfriend's car had a flat and needed a new tire. This was his first time here and my boyfriend expected a call with the total of 1 tire. Instead the tire was put on and Russ said $161. My boyfriend leaves at 7am and isn't home until 8pm as he works at a dealership in Somersworth, NH and my boyfriend couldn't get there the day the tire was fixed to pay (he paid the very next day) and Russ (the owner) said he was going to call the cops if my boyfriend didn't show up. Listen not everyone in the world is a SCHMUCK! I'm a business owner myself and the #1 thing for me is customer service. Poor customer service from this guy. I would suggest everyone to find another shop, and if you need tires check Tire Rack online. Do your homework before dropping it off at a garage.

My 2010 Kia soul was having trouble shifting and would not go into park. I brought the Kia to Commonwealth Kia and they told me I needed a new transmission as the selector shaft was rusted. I thought it was the shifter cable and decided to bring it to Wilmington Auto Repair. After only talking to the mechanic for a short time about the symptoms he said it was the shifter cable and an hour later after leaving the car there he called to tell me that it was the shifter cable and he would replace it for a very reasonable price. I was refreshed at how honest they were about the repairs and the repairs were done in a very timely manner. I would recommend them to anyone who does not want to be scammed by dealerships or anyone. Overall I am very happy with their service and I will be bringing my car there in the near future for any service needs.

The guys here are very knowledgeable and professional. I took my car here for diagnostics for my check engine light being on, they explained what the faulty codes were and what they meant. I was very pleased with my experience and will be back.
