Murph and the team are textbook definition of an honest mechanic. I have never felt even the least bit cheated or taken advantage of. I m fact, Murph always gives me options to reduce the cost of the job like sourcing my own parts, and different methods to resolve the problem with different price points.I always take my car over if I think I have a problem, and he s done ride alongs and inspections and always refuses payment if there was no work to be done.

Murph is the best - trust all these reviews! He's taken great care of my Subaru and me over the years. Patched a tire free of charge, knows the service schedules off the top of his head, and is just a delight.

All of these reviews are spot on. I would never take my car to anyone other than Murph. I have taken my cars to him since 2010 and I trust him completely. He and his team are some of the nicest, smartest people around. If you can love a car mechanic, then I love Car Zone (I don't care what the business is called,) I will ALWAYS take my cars here. And you should too.

Murph may be the most honest mechanic on Earth. When putting new tires on my car 6 months ago at a chain shop in Waltham, they told me the front brake pads needed replacing and maybe the rear ones too. I told them not today... When my daughter complained that the brakes were squeeking, I figured it was time to get the brakes done. I brought the car to Murph based on his great reviews... He found nothing wrong with the brake pads. He showed me and refused any payment for his time. Bring your car to Murph. I sure will be from now on.

Honest and reliable! I've been a loyal customer of Murph and his team for the past 5 years. Despite their new location being a 20-minute drive from my house, I continue to choose them for all my car-related needs. Their pricing is consistently fair, and their service is top-notch. Been taking my car here for years. Murph is the most genuinely helpful, respectful, and fair mechanic I've ever been to. He goes out of his way to save you money. It is so refreshing to have a mechanic who both understands and advises you on how to save expense on repairs and treats you with kindness and generosity. Last time I was there with repairs relating to my past-due inspection and he even drove my car to a shop and had it inspected for me when I got back. A real straight shooter can't recommend him enough.

Murph & Team a truly the best. They give such honest and trustworthy advice. They explain what is going on in a way that is clear and helpful, even to someone who doesn t know much about the inner workings of cars. They ll even shown specific parts under the car to explain why something does or does not need to be fixed. Multiple times they have offered me pragmatic, affordable fixes when local Toyota dealers have told me I needed thousands of dollars of repairs (that I did not need). It feels really reassuring to know they re looking out for your best interest! Thank you sooo much!

Super nice guys, really quick service and very affordable. Went above and beyond and refilled my tires and fixed a little squeak on my door when I brought it in for a power steering leak. Big fan of Zone Kar definitely a loyal customer now.

Looking for an honest and knowledgeable mechanic that can ID and explain your car's issues clearly and isn't trying to sell you services you don't need? Then Murphy and his team at ZK are where you want to go. Period. I've been following Murphy around Cambridge and Somerville for over a decade and have never been led astray.

I'm moving to California and I wish I could take Murph and his crew with me. I've lived in the Somerville/Cambridge area for the last 7 years and have needed repairs a handful of times at their old location (rotors, brakes, funny noises, etc). Like the other reviewers have mentioned, they are most honest mechanics and also go out of their way to explain what is wrong (or isn't). Most recently, I was scammed by another mechanic (and knew it but was feeling overwhelmed and said yes to repairs) and was thankful to stop them from performing all the repairs they said I needed. Murph took a look at my car for a few minutes and told me that I was right and didn't need the repairs and explained why. He also didn't charge me even though I asked if I can pay for their help (and this isn't the first time this has happened). They are pretty busy but it's because their customers are so loyal; just call ahead before you take your car in.

Incredibly skilled and kind! Wonderful customer service - they brought me over and showed me exactly what work needed to be done to my car and why. Another shop had told me I needed a few thousand dollars in maintenance, so I brought my car to Murph and he said everything the other shop told me was wrong and unnecessary. Saved me so much money! They all work incredibly hard. And really look out for the well being of their customers - I always feel taken care of in an honest way and know that they have the best interest of their customers in their hearts and minds. Great mechanics that provide an invaluable service for the Somerville community. Always reliable, quick, honest, skilled, and generous.

Murph and his team are gold. They are extremely knowledgeable, communicative and easy to work with. Figuring out the best, most economical plan of action feels like a collaboration with them, and we never feel silly asking questions.We had a less-than-stellar experience at a flashy garage in Cambridge (you know the one) when our car failed its inspection. I didn t feel comfortable leaving the car there for repairs, so we took it straight to Murph at his new location on the Somerville/Medford line for his opinion. He gave us an honest evaluation, told us exactly what we needed and ended up saving us hundreds of dollars. Not to mention, his team went above and beyond in helping us get our re-do inspection.Go to Zone Kar, you won t be disappointed.

Murph is awesome. He's upfront about what does and doesn't need work, and takes the time to explain or show me what's going on. He'll advise me on parts and I have the option to bring in what I want. All my visits have been smooth and easy. 100% would recommend Murph and his crew!

I've been going to Car Zone, now Zone Kar for years. Murph is the real deal. He can fix anything. He is the car snesei, the master. Can't say enough for his skills. He's great about helping you find parts cheap online unlike dealerships and other mechanics that will mark the part up 3x. Fantastic. I hesitate to write another good review for him because I don't want to wait in line behind 1000 people, but I want him to stick around because as long as he is within 20 miles, he's my guy.

I have trusted Murph with every vehicle I ve had for the past 12 years. I am so happy he opened this new location after the Carzone property got developed. I live in New Hampshire now, but this is still the only mechanic I will ever do business with. High quality work and a great atmosphere, I will recommend this business to anyone.

I can t recommend enough! Everyone was super friendly and answered my questions. They went above and beyond! I just wanted to get my car checked out before some road trips and they looked it over, topped off some fluids that needed it and did it all for free since there was nothing to fix. I will 100% be bringing my car here next time something goes wrong, it s so refreshing to go to an honest place after being scammed and overcharged at other places. Will be sending my friends here too!

Murph and his workers are the only mechanics I've met that go out of their way to try to get me not to spend money on work that my car doesn't need. Super legit and trustworthy. I originally went to his place in Cambridge but now go out of my way because I wouldn't trust anyone as much!

I had a poor experience with Car Zone and I would recommend you consider taking your repairs elsewhere. In May 2018, I brought my Toyota Avalon in for inspection and they informed me I should get new front brake pads (~$250) within the next few months. I made my follow up appointment for five days later, and within that five days I had "burned through the front calipers" and now had $880 worth of repairs. Now, only 20 months and 14,000 miles later, I brought my car to a trusted mechanic and they informed me I need entirely new front brake pads, rotors and calipers for $650. Car Zone lied about the urgency of my front brake pads, let me drive my car off the property, overcharged me for the brakes repair, and did a horrible job with it. Learn a lesson from me, and take your business elsewhere.

Murph at CarZone and now Zone Kar has been the only person I bring my cars to for almost 20 years. He is amazing at what he does, but also just a wonderful person! I've followed Murph to 3 locations, and will continue to follow him, but now the folks in Arlington, Medford, and Somerville can benefit from his most recent move too. I ve been coming to Murph for years, ever since the dealership told me I needed to do about $4,000 worth of work to a car that was nearing 100k miles. Murph put the car on the lift, took a quick look, and said he d love to work on my car and make some money, but he couldn t find anything to do. Car s now at 215k miles and still has lots of life. Anytime I HAVE needed work done - blown AC compressor, new brakes, new starter - he s advised on the most cost-effective way to repair it and saved me hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. I used Murph when he ran Car Zone (which their landlord have sold, so Murph had to move). I am happy he moved not too far from prior location, and I'm continuing using his services.
