I ve never actually had a reliable and trustworthy mechanic - but SS Auto is truly the best. Their prices are great, they work quickly & efficiently with great communication. As long as I m local I will be trusting them with my vehicle. I could not recommend them more.

This place is the best! They were able to fit me in the same day to check out the bottom of my car after I heard a strange noise. Not only are they fast and knowledgeable, but the guy there (owner?) was super friendly and funny. Bonus - he has two black cats in the waiting room! I will be giving them all my business in the future.

I DO NOT TRUST MY WHEELS WITH ANYONE ELSE! I have used S&S Auto for over 10 years. Since my husband passed I rely on them to keep my car safe. They so extremely reliable work and their price is more than reasonable.

Brought a used car into them for a look-over. They were amazing, it was like Sherlock and Watson, they found so many small issues that I would have overlooked! And I can tell they had fun doing it! Not enough great things to say about Jim and his crew at SS Automotive. I brought in my 56 Cadillac for a bad fuel pump, they fixed it quickly and for a fair price. I broke down today and they came out, tried to diagnose on the side of the road. When that didn t work, they towed the car to their shop and gave me a ride home. They do top notch work on modern and classic cars.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Engine repair

SS Automotive repaired a difficult crack in my frame, and replaced my starter. No one else would touch the job, especially for the reasonable rate they charged. The repair looks great, was completed in a surprisingly short amount of time, and the truck is back on the road. I was expecting it to be in the shop for a week, but instead was just a little over 24 hour turnaround.I definitely recommend them, and am bringing my truck back here from now on.

Very fair and they go the extra mile to keep the cost down. I trust their repairs and they always give a thorough explanation. I thought I would try a closer shop and paid for it (lied on the bill). I will be making the trip to SS. Best I have found in the north shore and worth the trip for peace of mind. Oh, and same day service when the other guys had my car for over a month.

I have a 2003 Land Rover, my drive shaft was recently replaced. Since then my car wouldn't drive over 35ml. I took it back to the mechanic he said that I need a new transmission. My car was driving fine before. I decided to find another mechanic, I when to SS Automotive, met Jim, hell of a nice guy. I told him the problem and he took the car for a drive within 5 minutes this man fix my car. He found the other guy mistakes. He did not charge me a dime. That's honesty for you, he could have told me the same as the other mechanic. He check my car for other issues. He became my mechanic right then. I would recommed him for his good work and his honesty.

I have been going to this shop for the last 5 years and let me just say that they are absolutely the best auto shop out there! Jim & Ken are very knowledgeable on all types of vehicles. They are reasonably with pricing, stand behind their work 100% and they get the work done when they say it will be done. I bring all of my company trucks there and my own performance cars. Infact, I had them do an engine rebuild on a 1969 GTO Convertible for me a couple of years back and when it was done... it was everything I expected and MORE! Also, not a scratch on the car when they were working on it. They were careful and considerate in protecting it. I enjoy talking to these guys, they know it all. from old to new. I've recommended them to my family, friends and friends of friends every time someone tells me they need their car repaired that is how happy I am with their service!

The best, most honest auto mechanics I've encountered. I've had to come here many times the past 9 months (after buying a 20year old used car) and every time they have worked with me to give me options and find the best solution that works for me rather than what benefits their own pockets. They're truly honest good people and as an added bonus, they do great work! I'm so thankful I found this place!

I have used SS Auto many times and refer them to anyone that asks me about getting auto repair done. Jim, along with all the other workers are beyond polite, honest, fair up front pricing, and the quality of work is exceptional. I will never use any other shop. From having a custom motor built for my 88 trans am to an oil change look no further. If you want it done right the 1st time for a very fair price this is the place.

I can always trust S and S to give us a fair price and reliable work. We've taken our cars there for about 9 years or so and they have never tried to push work on us or upsell us. They're honest, hard-working mechanics who always get the work done on time.

My parents' check engine light was on. They brought their Jeep to the dealer, and after waiting a few hours were told that it would be $1500. I suggested they bring their car to SS Automotive. Here the mechanics went over the Jeep and found nothing wrong. They reset the switch and did not charge my parents. Their fine and courteous service restored my parents' faith in good, honest people.Thank you very much.

Jim at SS Automotive came to the rescue after my transmission failed. At that time, I thought my battery needed a jump and he came down in less than 5 minutes to see what was wrong. Having not been able to fix it on the spot, he towed my car, and ran a diagnostic. He gave me a ride home and reassured me that he d take care of the car. He later found out that the car had a faulty part, which could be fixed under warranty at Ford. He took it one step further and arranged everything with Ford without me even having to call them. I ve never seen such a person strive to please their customers the way Jim did, and all without taking advantage. They didn t charge me for the call out, diagnostic or for arranging things with Ford. I m extremely pleased and so happy to have stumbled upon such a trustworthy person with excellent service. They re knowledgeable and talented at what they do, including a lot of experience with newer and older cars. A+

These guys are pros. My Ford Excursion had a front-end steering issue. Spent a small fortune at two other shops as they continued to guess their way around changing parts that were not the problem. Based on a youtube video, I took my truck to SS to have the front axel u-joints replaced. Well, the guys at SS said that my u-joints were fine and diagnosed and fixed the actual problem straight away! These guys could have done the job I asked them to do and cost me a bunch of money, but they dealt straight. And, they were able to diagnose and fix the real front-end steering issue which is something the other shops weren't able to figure out! I never leave reviews, but this shop saved me a bundle and I felt that I owed it to them to share my experience.

The owners are great at what they do and have always taken care of my wife's Volvo XC90 with great care and trust. The guys are honest and they are fair. The beat part is... you don't walk away feeling like you just over paid for the work they do.

These Guys are the best. They got me a replacement engine for my Dodge Voyager and the minivan has run like new. We have put another ten thousand miles on it with no trouble. Not the cleanest of shops, but expert and very honest mechanics and reasonable prices. I highly recommend them. I wish they were a little closer as I live in Swampscott, but its' worth the fifteen mins. to get it done right

SS Automotive team was very helpful and honest when replacing my Maserati battery. They gave me tips on how to keep the new battery from failing, helped me order a battery tender and explained why new cars drain batteries when cars are not used for long periods at a time due to all the computers and sensors.

Running errands saturday, to my horror i came home to discover something had dropped out of the bottom of my car- popped in S&S and mechanic was outside talking with another customer. He saw the part in my hand and told me no woories, NOT a big deal- heat shield for exhaust. . I wasn't free till Thursday morning, he said that worked for him- had, also had him check brakes & rotate tires- had car back in under 2 hours and all for $35.ooSo happy

These guys fixed my car and did it fast and fair. I should mention I visited 2 other shops who could not do what they did in few hours. Awsome fair fast honest best of all I know what was wrong now. Thank you jim I won't be going anywhere else from now on.5 stars easy

Owner cares more about working on his own cars while paying customers get told their cars aren't ready. High Performance or custom work, head over to Chaotic Custom in Saugus or Viking Motorsports in Peabody. Best around without the BS.

We have had some tough jobs that the dealership had quoted for more $ and these guys did better and in less time. And they went above and beyond to get our vehicle done on time.

Called at 9 to see if I could have my car looked at. Dropped it off by 10. Got a call with a quote by 12. Had my keys in hand and car running beautifully by 4:30. Price was perfect.

I brought In my Jeep for service. The team at SS automotive were very friendly and knowledgeable. If I have any other problems with my Jeep, I know where I'm going.

Hack work on my build that fell apart, then I was blamed because I brought in my own brand new name brand parts so I wouldn't be bent over the coals. Still suffered and needed most of the work redone. Never again..

Good mechanic crew- straight to the point, no bs, no huge overcharges on unnecessary add-ons. Will explain what they fixed and help you understand the issue. Nice new shop location with a lot more space.
