Ok, honest review. My husband and I traveled to Nantucket for our honeymoon and we stayed at the Life House. Overall, it was a a really good experience. The location is great, rooms are clean/serviced each day when asked and the atmosphere is one of a kind. Bathroom products were so good!Mackenzie was super helpful. But there wasn't another manager available in the lobby/kitchen on the morning of our last day and that evening before. The note said they were in the back house and had a number to call if we needed anything. It felt odd for calling for help, but the gentleman did come up and assisted right away. Coffee and breakfast wasn't served our last morning, even after a text requesting for it. Really, not that big of a deal since a coffee shop is a 7 minute walk away!Overall - we really liked this hotel, we would go back and we would recommend it to our family/friends.

I can t wait to stay here again! The staff was so friendly. We had a great time chatting with one of the house managers, I really wish I could remember her name! They let us check in early, they made everything so easy, and the hotel is gorgeous. Our room was so cute and we especially loved the beautiful bathroom and the porch/deck areas. The staff was so nice and thoughtful and gave us great Nantucket recommendations. You will love it here!

Previous reviews misrepresented this is at best a bed and breakfast, but one I would never stay at. Bathroom had no room to place toiletries. Shades on window left 10 inches from the window sill where the street lights shined into room all night Area rug felt creepy to walk on barefoot & oddly enough the TV was on the side of bed so it was difficult to watch. It was actually worst hotel I ever was at. Very disappointing!Rooms: Felt like staying at a great grandmothers old house in a tired looking room

Our stay at LifeHouse was really special and beautiful. Upon arrival (which was earlier than check in) we were kindly greeted and provided all necessary info, allowed to store our luggage, sit down for a moment and relax before heading out for the day. We received clear communication as soon as our room was ready. When we returned we were pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade. We stayed on the first floor in a king bed room with a private bathroom. It was absolutely perfect for 2 people. It was right off the front entrance, but we barely even noticed anything. Remember this is more of a unique Inn as opposed to your standard hotel , which to us was so wonderful. The complimentary drinks in the evening were such a special treat. Everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish, the aesthetic and vibe was beyond unique, and I will absolutely return one day. Thank you!!

Had high hopes and expectations going into our stay at Life House, but left vowing to never go back. My husband and I stayed for our honeymoon (which we had informed in our reservation), and certainly did not expect any red carpet to be rolled out, but thought we'd perhaps get at least a "Congratulations". NOTHING. No kind words or note, but instead we get greeted to a room right next to the front door, which funny enough I saw another guest complain about in another review. Similar to tiered pricing for hotel rooms, if there is a room that has a history of guest complaints, perhaps that room should cost a lesser tiered price. And speaking of the rooms, do not expect any commonly found amenity items, because they will not fit. The rooms are incredibly small, with no room for a mini fridge, a suitcase holder, or a decent size closet. Expect to leave everything on what little floor space you have. And again, at a certain price point you expect a certain level of comfort. A dirty shower curtain is not one of them. And the rain shower head is nice in theory but is not tall enough for anyone over 6 ft.So naturally, since we couldn't really relax in our room, we thought that at least we'd have some nice outdoor garden seating to enjoy. NOPE. All of the outdoor seating areas were closed off with no signage stating why. Keep in mind this was during summer season and with gorgeous weather. So really, if you wanted to relax during your stay, you had to sit in their lobby.Speaking of, the lobby does host a happy hour and as you could imagine at a B&B...breakfast. Don't get too excited. At this price point, your stay will get you oatmeal, yogurt or a croissant. And don't go in expecting great service either. We went to one of their happy hours and sat down with a menu of delicious sounding cocktails. With one other pair of guests chatting with the host, we patiently waited to be greeted. However, after about 15 minutes of them just casually conversing, we decided to get up and have a warm bottle of wine in our room since again, there's no fridge. So hey, we got to cross this off our list of enjoying the great "charm" of a Nantucket B&B. Can't say we'll go back, but hopefully we'll have better luck next time wherever we end up staying.

It s important to note, that the majority of the google reviews below were for Century House, the previous B&B in this location under different management. This is our review of Life House Nantucket, and we were extremely disappointed with our stay as well as the hotel management. We booked a deluxe King room 7 months prior, and upon arrival found out we were on the first floor in the front of the hotel (Room 101) with guests walking past and sitting right outside of our windows. This was worsened by music and bass pulsing through our walls from speakers situated underneath our window on the front porch and another speaker just outside our door above the main entrance to the hotel. The speakers played music starting in the morning (one morning beginning at 7:15 am!) through 10pm. This setup would have been disappointing for us on any trip, but since this was our honeymoon it was particularly frustrating. It was not the relaxing get-away space we were looking for in Nantucket. We spoke with management multiple times about the music issue, and while they made an effort to put the outdoor speaker further away from our window, the hallway speaker outside of our door was not moved, turned down, nor turned off. It would have been nice for more transparency about the room locations when booking as well. We either would have had more of an open mind coming in or would have booked elsewhere because of the reason for our visit. While we did appreciate the beauty and charm of the hotel, the light complimentary breakfast, the wonderful cocktails and the champagne upon them learning about our honeymoon - all of this falls flat when you can t relax in your own room because of the bass thump from the repetitious playlist of club music, combined with management that didn t seem to care and never checked back in with us. We do not recommend staying here if you are looking for a relaxing setting, and will seek other lodging for our next stay in Nantucket.

I met my son here for a quick weekend get-away and we loved it!! We had a private hallway with a bedroom and bathroom each. We loved the fresh fruit, yogurt and pastries in the mornings and the coffee and fabulous weather out on the porch all day long! The innkeeper and her sister were lovely and made it known that they were there should we need anything. The location was close to town and walkable. We had such a wonderful weekend and will definitely stay here again!

The Century House was a wonderful stay! I stayed in Sweet Pea, which was so charming. The rooms are fully stocked with everything you need, including hair dryer, toiletries, and a robe. Breakfast is such a treat with JoAnn and Jeanne. They are a wealth of information on things to do in Nantucket. The food is fantastic. This B and B is a quick walk to Main Street and all the festivities in Nantucket. If you are looking for a slice of New England charm, I recommend this place. As a southerner, I thoroughly enjoyed my Nantucket adventure!

First time staying at Life house and thought it was a great hotel for a romantic birthday getaway. Highly recommend! Can't wait to check out out their other locations!Noteworthy details: It was nice that they offered a small breakfast in the morning and cocktails in the afternoon.

For the last twenty years I have stayed at no other B&B on Nantucket than the Century House. Each room that I stayed in had an individual character and charm of its own. I have a few favorites. The location is perfect for walking. However the Century House does offer free parking. In just a few minutes walking along brick walkways past the lovely architectural gems of Nantucket you will find yourself on the cobblestones of Main Street. The innkeepers, Gerry and Jean are warm, helpful and friendly more than able to point anyone to a fabulous restaurant and advice for seeing the best of Nantucket during your stay. Gerry's breakfast, in my opinion, is the best on the island. The wraparound porch is a delight to sit out on and have quiet conversation with other guests or a love d one as is the patio. The decor in the living room will make anyone want to sit and read plus there is an extensive selection of book and DVDs to watch in your room for a quiet evening in. I would never consider a summer complete without a long stay at the Century House.

Experienced innkeepers (37 years and counting) make this historic inn a quality stay. JeannE and her sister are knowledgeable about the neighborhood, the island and local restaurants. Their recommendations were spot on and accurate.... they don't over embellish. The breakfast is just right for those who plan to enjoy some of the many restaurants found on Nantucket during your stay. Fresh berries, warm oatmeal, bakery, yogurt and more can be as filling, or light, as you need. Breakfast conversation is always interesting, but feel free to enjoy your coffee and/or food on one of the patios or porches. The flowers are beautiful. The rooms are comfortable, and amenities appropriate. The staff is attentive, yet non-intrusive. We loved the warm cookies and 24 hour coffee. This inn is a comfortable walk to town. We were on Nantucket for a wedding and we were able to walk to wherever we needed to go. (But keep in mind that you may need to adjust your footwear for the brick sidewalks.)After discussing our accommodations with others on Nantucket for weddings, we feel like we made the best choice.

We had a very nice stay at the Century House. JeanE and her sister were such lovely hosts. The accommodations were small but well appointed. Breakfast was delicious and included a lot of fresh options. The staff however was less than pleasant. We were greeted by a staff member that yelled at us upon opening the front door. He told us that we were not welcome at the inn before check in and to "get out". We were very surprised to be treated this way, as we were only interested in using the bathroom and changing into our bathing suits. He rudely told us to leave our bags in a wooden bin without. a lock. On our last day, he was stern with us when we asked if we were able to take beach towels to the beach and return them on our way to the airport. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but we did not like our interaction with the staff.

Our stay at Life House was wonderful. The entire team was incredibly accommodating and personable. We were traveling with our 3 month old son which can be stressful. Emily, Louisa, and Paige went out of their way to accommodate an infant and make us feel comfortable. It truly felt like home while we were there and we were sad to leave.

I am so excited! Reservations made and confirmed. Once again I will be traveling to Nantucket for a well needed rest. The best part, is staying at my all-time favorite Century House. Everything about it is perfect...the rooms are beautifully appointed, the beds lull you into a peaceful, rest filled sleep, the innkeepers welcome you like beloved family members and of course I always look forward to enjoying my breakfast on their delightful front porch. All this on the fabulous island of Nantucket. What more could a girl ask for?

We stayed at the Life House hotel on Nantucket, MA. From start to finish everything was perfect. Highly recommend to anyone coming to the island for a romantic getaway or a relaxing weekend. Received complementary happy hour drinks, complementary breakfast, and unbelievable genuine kindness and service from the entire staff, especially the manager. We will definitely be coming back, and we re so happy to be able to celebrate our mini-moon at the Lifehouse hotel.

My wife and I like to stay at different B&B's throughout the year. The Century House did not disappoint! JeanE and Jo were the best hosts; we truly felt that we were right at home! The location is walking distance to town and Jetties Beach. We loved the breakfast especially Gerry's homemade oatmeal and assorted fruits, nuts and breads. The sitting room also had fruit and freshly baked goods available throughout the day. At night we enjoyed a glass of wine relaxing on the veranda. If you are looking for a charming, clean, well run Inn, with all the comforts of home; the Century House is the perfect getaway.Thank you JeanE, Jo and Gerry for your wonderful conversation and relaxing stay!

Our stay at Century House was simply perfect. We stayed in the Sweet Pea room located just off of the covered porch. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The room was small, but the perfect amount of space for two. We re not huge room dwellers. There was tons of outdoor space for reading, eating, or having a glass of wine with friends or family. The Inn is on the outskirts of town, perfectly placed for a restful sleep and a quick walk to all the shops and restaurants. JeanE was the consummate host. When we left, she felt like family. Stay at the Century house. It will feel like your home away from home.

Perfect place for a perfect stay in perfect Nantucket. I was greeted with open arms and taken care of in every possible way. The room was perfect ( I had my own private entrance), clean and accommodated every day. Breakfast in the morning was like being at my own home. This is a magical little Bed & Breakfast in a great location. Can't wait to be back soon!

Charming historic home, great staff and management. The house was comfortable, and clean the entire week we were here, and we really enjoyed the breakfast options and baked goods throughout the day.One thing in particular we wanted to commend the owners/management on - in this 180 year old building, the hot water, wifi, and air conditioning were rock solid. To us, this showed that the owners/managers put great care and attention to detail in how they maintain and operate the building and anticipate guests' needs.

Our stay at the Life House was incredible! The esthetic is amazing- very chic, cozy and instagrammable. The check-in process was super easy (check in with an i-pad in the living room by searching your name), and we were brought to our room quickly. Our room was so clean & the bed was literally the most comfortable bed I ve ever slept in!The complimentary breakfast served from 8am-10am (you can choose to eat it on the porch, inside, in one of the two back patios) was so much better than the usual hotel bfast. The complimentary cocktail hour from 5pm-7pm was always something we looked forward to, and they even had complimentary s mores later in the evening!I think the recent bad reviews of this place do not reflect on what we experienced. Life House is more a technologically advanced hotel, and there isn t a traditional front desk /concierge. Everything is done over texting (which we loved!) & in general the atmosphere is also a younger crowd (millenial/gen-Z vibes).Paige worked almost every shift during our stay, and never failed to go way above & beyond to make our stay comfortable & to make sure we were having an awesome time. She s kind, caring, considerate, and always had a smile on her face! (Despite the fact that she worked like the whole weekend! Girl needs a raise!). She was awesome!

Century House is the perfect base for a Nantucket holiday. It s located within easy walking distance to town, restaurants and shopping. Steps Beach is just down the road a piece. Brant Point lighthouse, the harbor (ferry) and the Whaling museum are all reached on foot in ten to fifteen minutes. The guest rooms are lovely, pristine, well appointed and unique. JeanE, Gerry and their efficient staff will make sure your needs are met. A lovely buffet breakfast will be ready when you are to start the day right. This is where I stay to enjoy Nantucket charm and hospitality.

I'll caveat my review with context that weather circumstances contributed to my poor experience. The staff were also super friendly and helpful, though they felt busy or understaffed since things ran slow or short at times.I was in the cozy queen and while the description is accurate it's a bit deceptive. The bedroom could be 180sq ft but because of the way the ceilings slope, you probably have about 100 sq feet of usable space and even then you hit your head a lot (and I'm not tall). The bathroom is also really poorly designed. You can't even close the door unless you step into the shower. That's how small it is. You have to sit on the toilet in an angle because of how close to the sink it is. The vent was also broken and even with the windows open the bathroom reeked after one day because of humidity. And then there's the air conditioner. I hope you're a heavy sleeper. It's loud and constantly coming on just to maintain a comfortable temperature when it's not even that hot out (75 degrees). When running, it's about 65 decibels next to the air conditioner and 55 decibels I'm bed. I found it to be louder and more disruptive than living in Manhattan and had to turn it off the second night.
