Have you ever gone to a Mechanic and had hope that they would be straight with you and give you a decent estimate about what the cost would be to be totally sidelined when you get the bill? That happened with me yesterday at West Auto in Dunstable MA. I was given a price of $50 a piece for tire pressure sensors but I knew I could buy them on Amazon or through a local auto parts store for about $30 a piece. I was also told that if I brought the wheels to them off the car and left them for a couple days, they could do the work at a discount. I figured I'd give this guy the business and let him do the work since it wasn't that much more for the sensors. However, when I got the bill, the tire pressure sensors were $60 a piece and I was charged full price for the tire mounting & balancing. As I mentioned, I did half the work of taking the wheels off and bringing them to him and putting the wheels back on. It is unfair that I was still charged the full price for the work just like if the tires were left on the car. When I approached Brian West the owner about the bill he acted like I was the problem and would not commit to any refund. There are plenty of other mechanics in the world I won't be going back to this one.

I wasn't sure what the problem was, they explained after an inspection. No charge, then referred me to another person. There are angels amongst us.

We have used West Auto for 10 years and several vehicles, we have always found Brian to be upfront, honest and fair. Brian saved us thousands over dealership prices and the convenience of his shop location is great. The new waiting area at West auto is beautiful and comfortable, a welcome change from most auto shops. Nobody likes a car repair bill but at least you know that the price you re quoted at West Auto will be a fair price, they will use quality parts and the work will be top notch. We recently moved to the area and were lucky enough to find a honest auto repair shop. Brain the owner is honest. I listened as he told a potential customer of another store that would do the job cheaper because it wasn't their specialty. Run by Brian West, son of Ed West. Competent, excellent work, rational prices, and as honest as anyone you will ever find, just like his father. You will never find a better place for competent automobile repair, nor fairer prices. Brian treats everyone this way, just like his father. Problems are diagnosed with up to date diagnostic equipment, down to the failed part, and just the failure repaired. I trusted them to put tires on my new Tesla S Plaid, and no problem with "Jack mode" or the "pucks" that I have to assure the lift does not touch the batteries. Everything done flawlessly.

I am completely appalled by the lack of customer service! Dropped my car off the night before appt. Dropped of due to grinding noise coming from the back Pass side tire...I called the next day around 2:00 to see if they had a chance to LOOK at my car. I was astounded when I was told " it's all finished" FINISHED NO ONE called me to say what was needed or to discus going forward with repairs etc....Was told I can come pick it up they fixed all the breaks! I arrive to a $762 invoice!!! I would have NEVER agreed to this!! AND I am missing a hub cap too!!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes

Even get a chance to make it in the door for an inspection sticker because they are horrible horrendous customer service over the phone. Haven't you learned running a business when a customer asked a question you don't answer sarcastically if you want their business.

I drive three towns away to go to this place - great service, reasonable rates, honest owner - would definitely recommend it.And you can walk across the street to the Farmhouse Cafe to eat/work (wi-fi)/wait until they're done with your car.

I'll preface with the fact that I worked there. But if you're looking for an honest shop that won't screw you, this is it. For what it's worth, working there showed me that Brian (the owner) keeps the shop honest and doesn't give out R.O.s for things you don't need.

They've been around for a long time I I've been working on cars with my whole life and there's really only one place I feel comfortable bringing my stuff when it's something outside of my area which is more electronics computer side of things and this is where I bring it because they're honest which is hard to find I'm sure everybody knows.
