Great customer service, didn't try to upsell me or get other maintenance done on my car in addition to my tire installation. As a woman, I felt for the first time that the person serving me didn't immediately assume I'm incompetent when it comes to cars. Offered an alignment service to me as well, display the options and explained what came with each but wasn't trying to promote any plan. Allowed me to choose what was best for me. Overall, it was a great experience.

First time booking an appointment and never going back! Decided to book my appointment because of their reviews but that was a lie!! I booked it a day prior! Got there on time, mind you I live 45 minutes away! To get there and be told if I can reschedule? Really I booked it for a reason! I needed 2 tires and have a spare tire on, because my tire popped the night prior. Anyway I said I couldn t reschedule and he tells me if I could leave my car overnight? If not I was looking at 4 hours of wait time? I was furious because when I booked it the availability was pretty opened? So had to make phone calls and had to drive another 40 minutes to Firestone, that are more professionals! Never again and I don t recommend this Pepboys!

I made an appointment last Friday and they gave me a 2pm on Sunday. I called again to make sure they would have the set of Cooper tires they advertised on their website. The man who answered took a few minutes and then assured me that they had them on stock. He was probably doing something else during those few minutes because when I showed up Sunday they didn't have them. Then the guy in charge proceeded to offer me some cheap tires that would not last longer than 3 months on Boston road conditions. I asked for their best tires and of course they are overpriced. So they offered a bait and switch tactic. I was displeased to say the least. I proceeded to leave their premises because I wasn't going to give them my business ever again at that point. I didn't yell or mistreat the employee since I don't think he was the one responsible although I may be wrong. I left quite pissed quietly. I needed new tires so I went to their competitors down the street and now I'm waiting for my new tires. They are expensive but at least the employee at their desk behaved very professionally and was quick to give me his best offers. In other words I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit pep boys and the Dedham store in particular. Then I understood that it wasn't by chance they have such a low average rating. Don't trust what they tell you on the phone and don't believe their advertising offers. They probably get a very low number of those tires to lure you to their shops and then claim they ran out of them. A dishonest company and a waste of my time. I drove in a car with bad tires two extra days because I waited for that appointment. I was driving like an old lady and those who live in Massachusetts know how unkind people are when driving behind slow drivers. This is the first time I write such a long and detailed review because I want to spare as many people in need of new tires from a potential terrible experience like mine in the future. Godspeed to you all!

Would just avoid at all costs. Took my last car here for a basic tire alignment. Took hours for them to tell me I needed work done on the car, including front axle work, when my car didn't even have a front axle it was rear wheel drive. Took my current car in for simple tire service and that took 3 and a half hours. Made an appointment and it took an hour and half just to get the car in the shop. Figure I throw in an oil change too and they couldn't even reset the oil status on my car I had to do that myself. Can go to Valvoline or Jiffylube and pay the same money and get a team of people covering everything and even top off your fluids. They couldn't even have the courtesy to wipe the grease off my car.

Echo the previous comments here. Had the first appointment and no mechanics were on site. I may be old school. But if the shop opens at 8am, all personnel and equipment will be ready at 8am. It seems to be a trend with other agencies. But Pep Boys should know better as it's an auto repair facility, with people that need their vehicles ASAP and not waiting around because mechanics come in whenever they feel like. Front desk was helpful and the prices were good.

I had a good experience at this particular Pep Boys. I scheduled my appointment online. I was able to call the store and confirm that they received it. Customer service was very good. They told me I could drop off my car and come back and pick it up after work, they called me to tell me there was another issue with my car there was going to delay it if I decided to fix it. Overall, they were professional. I did wait an additional hour for my car, but there was more to be done than expected. One thing that s annoying is the entrance door is on the side where there is only Handicap parking many so when they finish your car, they don t park it near the entrance door. You have to walk around and search for your car and it s pretty dark out there. They should pull it up to the front for you. Otherwise, nothing bad to say about customer service or about the maintenance on my vehicle.

Had a coworker get a verbal quote of $700 for a battery and brakes and book the appointment. After showing up at the appointment time and waiting for 2 hours, they informed her they were just starting and gave her a quote of $2200. She said never mind and they said they had already started and would have to charge her for the battery. $659!!! Never have I heard of such a blatant bait and switch and it is disgusting how they took advantage of her. To top it off, the battery wasn t the problem in the first place. You re a sucker if you take your car here and the employees are horrible people.EDIT: had my coworker contact the below info with no response. The shop is dodging her calls and she was only able to make an appointment to talk to them under a fake name.

Staff were nice and service was done well. Unfortunately, an appointment doesn't seem to do much. My appointment was at 11 my car didn't get brought into the shop until 12:30 and I didn't leave until almost 1:30. Over 2 hours for an oil change and battery change with an appointment was not great.

Easy tire service. Looked at my other tires and recommended more changes needed for the safest ride. Of course that came with additional expenses but the process took under an hour and the team member was nice.

Jeff at the front desk at pep boys in Dedham was great. He had good customer service and seemed very helpful to everyone who was there getting a service done. He even helped me get a quote for new breaks and possibly saved me so much money instead of taking my car into the dealership. Very happy with the service and my car drives smooth after they installed my new tires.

I only gave it 2 stars because there was a good price on tires for Black Friday. The job was done disgustingly. I had to go back for a wheel alignment because after they installed new tires and did the wheel alignment, the car began to behave unstably on the road. This was my first and last time working with this garage.

Car left the shop in worse shape than when I brought it in. I went in for an oil change, a battery, to check the exhaust because the car was so loud, and to plug a tire that had a nail in it. The first error was that they mistaken gave me a faulty battery without testing it so as soon as I got home I needed to find jumper cables and jump the car. The 2nd error was they told me they were going to check the exhaust complimentary and they never did and basically ignored my request to check the reason why my car was so loud. Third error was the car was even noisier than when I brought it in. My ride home to NY was a nightmare and culminated with the tire they were supposed to fix popping on me when I was on the FDR in Manhattan at 1am. Granted it is possible I ran over another nail at some point but if you combine the cavalier way in which they handle their business and combine it with the shredded tire, it seems probable that they just did a crappy job and didn t really care. The delays were egregious, they told me 2pm and then made me wait for a lug nut until 3:30. They were kind enough to give me a 5% discount on my $1300+ bill but typing this on the side of the road at 1:12am is very little consolation. Avoid this place at all cost, they don t know what they are doing and they don t really seem to care.

This location of pep boys led me down the most blatant and disgusting bait and switch I have been exposed to in the industry, quoting me hundreds less than what the service ended up costing. The upcharge in service was not stated until my car was already in the process of the service. On top of that, they delayed my appointment by 3 hours and had not even started! They did not resolve the issue, sent me a blank inspection report so I do not even know what work was effective or ineffective to the problem, and now management is dodging calls and refusing to make the issue right. I have spent hundreds of dollars only to be at square one. Do not trust them with your vehicle!! Edit to add: they say reach out to this email below, yet I have been calling and reaching out to resolve this?? They only care about protecting image and have no concrete ways they have resolved the blatant mismanagement of my autocare EDIT TO ADD 4/6/24 this issue is still unresolved. After taking my car to a different mechanic they found they sold me a bad battery! buyer beware!

Don't...just don't. Brought it in for a check engine light. 800$ later I figured the repair was done and everything would be fine. A few days later the light came back on so I brought it back. 4 hours go by and I was told that the coolant needed to be flushed and pressurized so it had to sit overnight. The next morning I called to see if it could be picked up only to be told that it kept over heating, which had never been a problem before. Later that afternoon I was told that it needed more repairs and that the parts were ordered and should be in the next day. I called a tow truck and had it brought to the dealership....nothing was broken...they just didn't put enough coolant in.

Tech tries pulling my car out of the bay after service and I see it bucking up and down. Apparently he doesn't know how to drive stick shift but thought he'd learn on my car. The guy at the service desk is really nice, but that is just an asinine level of incompetence. This place needs scrutiny from corporate, because it is extremely poorly managed.*Update* - Contacted them as requested in their reply and haven't heard back.

The work performed on my car is A+.I didn't know there was a problem with my car. I noticed a big difference when I first drove it after it was fixed. Great job and customer service! You were very kind and considerate.Thank you!

This place is an absolute scam. Every time I go there they tell me I need way more than what I brought it in for, but I go because it's close to my house. No more. I brought in a tire with a very slow leak. They told me they found 2 punctures and one was near the rim so I needed a new tire (and then they usually try to sell you two). I said absolutely not. Picked up the car, brought it to my (less convenient) mechanic, he found ONE puncture and fixed it for $25. That was 10 days ago and it's been fine ever since. No second puncture, outright lie.

Completely incompetent, ignorant, unprofessional, and rude. STAY AWAY. Had an appointment for a tire rotation. Assistant manager tried to lecture me that the staff had 35 years of experience and knew what they were doing. Then they refused to do the job because the mechanics felt "uncomfortable' pressing 2 buttons on the dashboard which needed to be pressed according the manufacturer before any 'jacking' up. A toddler can press 2 buttons, but your 'highly trained staff with 35 years experience' is too incompetent to do that. Wasted 45 minutes driving to the location and another 45 minutes driving home. Completely useless. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. I repeat, STAY AWAY!

Pep Boys prices may not be worth the aggravation of the overall visit. Having to wait 4 hours for an oil change is ridiculous. They never advised that I could drop off and return later. I was never updated on the progress of the repair, I had to ask at least three times how long it would take. At least two people in for tire service asked for their keys back and left without getting any service done. I was tempted to do the same but then my car was already in the bay for the oil change to be done. The waiting really soured the visit and the waiting room was cramped. There was no complimentary water or coffee and the bathroom was atrocious, I refused to use it and decided to wait until I got to Costcos.Overall, it was not what I expected having to waste so many hours sitting and standing around for a simple service to be performed. I will not be returning any time in the near future.

Went in for a tire change than they said I need new Control Arms (got them replaced less then a year ago). After that, they contacted me 2 hours later to tell me I need to bring them 2 sway bar links (they have my car the whole time so I m walking back and forth from Autozone to Pep Boys to provide them the parts) then 2 hour later, they call me again saying I need new tie rods but they can t install it because it s too late and they re about to close. I brought my car in around 1-1:30p and I didn t even get to get my car back until around 7:45p and when I got it, my alignment was WORSE than what it was before I brought it into the shop. Now I have to hold my steering wheel sideways in order to drive straight. I m so mad I spent money and wasted that money just for my car to be almost undrivable because they made the alignment worse than before I went there. Looks like I m gonna have to tow my car to a Sullivans Tire to get it aligned the RIGHT WAY!! Please train your employees on how to actually work on cars!!

Did 4 rotors + pads + replaced a caliper on the right side. Brought it back 3x for a burning brake smell and told them that my rear rotor on the left was glowing red. Told 3x that they "couldn't repeat the problem". Less than 5 months later my breaks are grinding to bare metal. The rear caliper was completely seized and brand new rotor was completely trashed. They didn't notice this? Sent corporate an email with pics...and it was a complete waste of time. Was told "we appreciate the feedback". Find a trusted local mechanic and pass on this place.

I came in for a oil change and brake inspection. Christian Murphy was great. He checked my car in with short waiting time. When my car was done he came and got me and explained what work was done.

Disclaimer: let me preface this by saying that I am a very easy-going guy when it comes to businesses. I ve worked in people-centered businesses for almost 30 years. I do food delivery currently and I know people have bad days, sometimes are off their game, etc. I was just telling my wife - I think this is my first-ever negative business review posted online.I have been going to Pepboys for over a decade. I love the 7-days-a-week and that I can drop off and walk home. Recently, I have noticed some red flags - a month ago I dropped off for an 8am oil change, had not heard anything all day and came back at 6:30pm (after walking two miles) only to be told we are out of oil filters. Want me to order one? No, I want you to have oil filters in stock - you are a car repair shop Last weekend my Check Engine light came on. Turns out it was the infamous catalytic converter. I knew this wouldn t go well. Anyone who Googles these things sees national shortage , stolen for platinum , etc. Somehow, both Toyota dealerships reported the part being on a multiple-month back-order but Pepboys somehow found one. Against my better judgment, I went with them. How bad could it be , I said. Turns out, BAD.Dropped off Monday, it was there for three days. Not mad about that - it s a rare part. Picked it up ($1457). Again, not mad - it retails for $1000 just the part alone. I leave and as I m driving down Route 1 and smoke starts pouring out of the muffler. It also rattles every time I accelerate. The guy tells me that s normal bud, it ll burn off. If any problem, bring it back in .I did just that. Called today around 1pm and was put on hold twice. Each time, the guy didn t remember who I was or why I called. Once I was asked what do you want? . To have my car back. When I went to pick up today I was told that ll be $159 . Nope, not paying that, you guys caused the issue, fix the issue. I was told they weren t related, two different things . Only after I objected did he call and get it excused . I could go on, y all don t want to hear about it.Stay away from Pepboys Dedham. At $100/hour for labor, maybe there s a non-corporate, local business that actually values customers and listens to them rather than deflecting or blaming the customer when something goes wrong.

I think it s ridiculous that I make an appointment to change one tire. I even arrived at my appointment a half hour early and I leave the car come back after four hours and my car was never touched. Then I get the excuse that they were backed up and there was cars ahead of me, but every car that was on the lot that was there when I came was not there and customers that I know came in after me were walking out after their car was serviced. I didn t even receive a courtesy call or some kind of update about the status of my car or at least something to let me know that the service is going to take a little bit longer than planned. I get it I know sometimes places might be short staffed or a particular job might run a little longer than planned but four hours waiting to get one tire change is a little excessive. Clearly they weren t going by appointment times and they were just pulling in cars that they felt like doing. I specifically picked An appointment that would give them more than enough time to get the job done, and will Allow me enough time to make it to work I assumed 2 1/2 hours At most, but not four hours to then be told that my car was never worked on. So I was part of my day, bringing my car there for no reason

Absolute nightmare. I had an appointment for a tire installation and waited 6 hours. There were customers who had 11:30am appointments and were still there at 7pm.I was told they were short staffed. I was told the technician had to take a 30 minute lunch and he d get to my car right after. An hour and a half later I m told they re working on my car but it s going to take another hour and a half. And then the alignment was going to be another 30 minutes. The waiting area has no WiFi. The bathroom was a disgusting mess with no soap. They ll send you wherever you want in a Lyft, but you re stuck for a while and can t really go anywhere else.Do not send your tires to be installed here.

Initially made an appointment online - that didn't work at all, was told it should be done over the phone only. Made appointment over the phone for Tue. When arrived was told appointment can't be honored due to the lack of staff. They didn't call or texted me before I've arrived - so I've waisted my time for that. Rescheduled for Wed. When arrived on Wed, they took the car and told me it will take 1 - 1.5 hours, so I've decided to wait. They only got my car in after 3.5 hours!!! Overall I've spent there 5 hours waiting - the whole day. If they told me initially it would take more than 2 hours, I wouldn't waisted so much time over there. That's a really bad management. You can be short staffed and have limited capacity, but you have to give people realistic estimate on how long it would take, instead of people wasting their time waiting for the service to be done.

DO NOT GO TO HERE!!!Ive never given a review and this just deserved one, so people wont even bother at this place. I brought my car in for a simple oil change, they lasted 6 hours with my car. Kept calling to check in on the car they kept telling me they were running behind. Finally i showed up at 7:00 pm and when arrived worker told me my car was still not ready because they had no more oil left and that the manager ran out to get some. Mind you i dropped my car off at 2:00 pm , last call with assistant manager christian at 6 told me my car was almost ready that they were just finishing up. My car was given to me at 8 pm, just when i got home measure my oil in my car and they hadn't even filled the whole oil tank which i paid extra for. Also my car now has something wrong with the oil filter and it has a light on. I have filed a complain to try to get my car fixed by them. This has been the worst experience. I had never had an issue with a oil change and its always a 20 minute service at other places. This was my first time trying pep boys, and will sure be my last. Also the guy working on my car gave the excuse that he just started working there and that he didnt know what was going on.
