We love Chatham and The Chatham Wayside Inn. My wife and I visited this hotel many years ago before kids. We decided to bring our children to visit Cape Cod and Boston for spring break. The hotel and Chatham still has the same charm it had many years ago. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. We would definitely recommend The Chatham Wayside Inn.Walkability: The Chatham Wayside Inn is on Main Street and is a convenient location. You can walk to charming shops and restaurants.

Appalled by the management at the Wayside Inn. I have reached out to management multiple times since early November and have gotten very little response back. Our guests stayed at the Inn for our wedding and everyone had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the hotel until checkout when guests were charged additional fees due to incorrect amounts at the time of booking. Each guest booked their rooms (and paid in full) a year in advance under the assumption the pricing they secured at that time was accurate, as it should be in any circumstance, otherwise that is false advertising. If Wayside made an error that is not the fault of my guests and absolutely no one should have been charged without consent (as I was twice) or charged upon checkout. Charging guests more money at checkout and claiming Wayside made an error a year ago is just wrong especially since the Wayside Inn s policy is that all sales are final and room cancellation is not possible. We are extremely upset that all of our guests were impacted in such a negative way at the end of their stay and that there has been zero attempt to rectify the situation. The Inn is in a prime spot in downtown Chatham but the room rates are absurd given the horrible management and very few amenities.

We stayed here in September for our honeymoon. Our room was beautiful and we were upgraded because of the reason for our trip which was so nice! Very cute hotel overall, great location, and some nice amenities. One downside is we found the continental breakfast disappointing with very little options that were not replenished throughout the morning.

Has all the ingredients to make a great hotel but little things would stop us going back. The Breakfast we found was just terrible, no choice, no volume, sparse dining area and a miserable lady taking care of proceedings. Also the reception has a funny odour and the car park smells of fried chicken literally all the time?!? Great location though and the Pools nice

Absolutely appalled by the service. The location is beautiful and we have a wedding party staying here for the weekend. Upon arrival, the staff denied excusing a fee for distributing the welcome bags for the wedding party, which a previous staff member put in writing to excuse the fee because we have the majority of the Wayside Inn booked for the wedding. Despite having this agreement in writing, the staff continued to ignore the WRITTEN agreement the night before festivities begun. The customer service is extremely upsetting.

This was supposed to be a four star hotel - we paid 900 for two nights in a standard double room and it was a small, dark room with a tiny bathroom and a bit fell off the shower. Our family were also staying and their shower broke - they couldn't turn it off for 30 minutes whilst it poured out scolding hot water turning their bathroom into a sauna. The tea tray was sub-standard. A coffee machine was provided in the room and a lot of tea bags but no kettle. When we asked for a kettle they said they didn't provide them and that we were expected to make tea in a coffee machine! This turned out to be luke warm water so totally unsuitable for making tea. We had supper in the restaurant one night, the food was fairly standard... the tacos were dry and poorly made with little or no sauce. But, the worst thing about this hotel was the breakfast which was the most miserable spread we have ever experienced in a hotel or B&B. It was continental only and consisted of packaged dry biscuits, one bowl of strawberries and blueberries, small, poor quality pastries and make your own toast. The coffee was weak and luke warm from a flask. When we asked for yoghurt we were told there was none. No yoghurt in a continental breakfast in a four star hotel! We would NOT stay again... it is a rip off based on location only. Service also varied from polite to downright rude!Walkability: Easy access into Chatham

On Sat July 16, 2022 The hotel kept their promise and charged me nearly $2,000 after we cancelled a reservation 30 minutes after making it. My wife booked the hotel (they booked it in pieces) and after she calculated and told me the total amount it was an amount we couldn t afford. I called them back right away (twice) was hung up when I asked for refund (call lasted seconds) then told first it wasn t refundable, then all but 10% refundable as a courtesy. They leveraged my accepting the 10% penalty by saying officially it was ALL non refundable (I panicked and accepted). I was ALWAYS polite but firmly pleaded for understanding. Despite our quick response and attempt to explain that nearly $20,000 was NOT in our budget, they imposed a 10% cancellation fee indicating it was better than not refunding us anything (which was disclosed at the time of booking). Yes, their courtesy to us was they kept their promise and in this case that promise cost us approx. $2,000. I m still so distraught by it after 6 months I just had to write to let everyone know. I was able to confirm with my wife the rep s name was Jennifer (who took the reservation and my call(s)). Please be careful if you are making last minute plans, there is NO ROOM for error here. Peace.

I am a big fan of the Chatham Wayside Inn, I ve stayed here twice, and both have been fantastic. The rooms are nice and traditional while also being updated and clean. The staff at the Inn are amiable and accommodating. There is also a great restaurant in the main part of it which is very good for lunch and dinner. There is also a lovely outdoor pool, although it is a bit small, you cannot beat the location being right downtown Chatham. This hotel is pricey. I ve gone a few times earlier in the season when the price is not as high, but if you expect to go peak season, you re most likely going to spend upwards of 600 per night.

This was our first trip to Chatham, and the Cape, so we didn't really know what to expect. We loved the location of the Wayside Inn. We walked to everything we needed; beach, meals, coffee, Anglers game. The room was updated and very nice. Just a standard hotel room, with a nice little outside area. I would highly recommend the Chatham Wayside Inn and will stay there again.

I want to preface this by stating I have never left a negative review prior to our stay at this venue; my significant other and I were incredibly shocked and disappointed at the condition of the Chatham Wayside Inn. Upon check in, the room smelled like septic remnants, there was no hand soap in the bathroom, and there was a used bandaid in the middle of the bathroom floor. Disappointing, but not awful. Day two consisted of ever present septic smell upon entering our room at various times of the day, immense gurgling during an evening shower to find that the shower wasn't draining and the toilet was about to over flow and my partner had to turn off the water...odd as we had just returned from dinner and hadn't used the facilities. Day 2 we questioned the cleanlieness of the pool to find on day 3 worsened conditions with hair and what looked like vast amounts of toilet paper or napkins?? disintegrated across the shallow end of the entire pool. Other couples in the pool complained about groundskeeping at 7AM Sunday morning however we shared our experiences and all parties were in agreement that $1500.00 for two nights certainly called for better conditions across the board. No amenities in the rooms either (water for coffee, mini fridge or microwave) continental breakfast was apples and croissants nothing more.

This Inn in Chatham has lovely clean, spacious rooms. I stayed in the summer of 2020 and it was clean and adhered to social guidelines. The pool was well kept and chairs were spaced appropriately. It s a great place for families with restaurants and shops within really easy walking distance.

While we enjoyed our food and prompt service we observed a family at the next table who was seated before us waiting for their order the entire time it took us to order, eat, and pay our bill. When they inquired about how much longer it may take to receive their order the waitress responded aggressively. We felt uncomfortable with the disparity in customer service between our experience and their service.

We had to cancel 2 days before our arrival due to a family emergency. My son was hospitalized in CA and I had to fly across country immediately. We asked to hold our deposit, which was the full amount of $2000, so that we could use it this Falk. They refused to work with us and kept all of our deposit. We were happy to put those funds towards a visit in October which they denied. I cannot believe the lack of compassion for a true family emergency. I would never stay here.

Travel/Food Influencer - Instagram: michaela_romanosmithReview: Recently stayed at the CWI for 2 nights in May and had an amazing experience! I love that the historic New England Inn is located right in downtown Chatham and walking distance to local shops, restaurants and even the beach! The grounds were beautifully manicured, the staff were so welcoming and friendly, and I personally loved the coastal decor throughout the property. Also loved that they offer free onsite parking, an inground pool, fitness room, complimentary continental breakfast and direct access to the Wild Goose Tavern - also highly recommend (went for dinner and was amazing!). Our room was located on the first floor and had an outdoor deck which was a huge bonus - great greenery views and so peaceful in the morning! The CWI was super clean, well maintained, and overall such a great value. Highly recommend!!!

Our getaways at the Wayside Inn are always amazing and memorable! The Inn is right downtown so easy walking to all the wonderful shops and restaurants. The rooms were recently renovated and are tastefully decorated and spacious. The staff are always attentive and friendly. The adjoining restaurant The Wild Goose is delicious with great dish options- there s plenty of local seafood, but also a variety of dishes for those that might be a bit more picky. Find yourself a seat on the deck (heat lamps are there if needed!). Always a pleasant stay at the Wayside Inn, highly recommend!

The best!--we booked a hotel that was "less than expected" in Dennisport (the worst) and stopped at the (adjacent) Wild Goose in Chatham for dinner. It was perfect and after a few drinks told my wife and kids I was going to see if by chance they had some rooms. Expecting rejection, I instead was helped by the front desk staff in finding rooms that would work--this in August high season! Needless to say, they found us two rooms and it was incredible! Gorgeous property in the heart of Chatham and definitely worth the money. We are frequent CA beach visitors and we may now switch our preference to the Cape!

Absolutely decadent place to stay with spacious rooms decorated tastefully Cape Cod. The inn sits in the center of the action smack in the middle of picturesque downtown Chatham. It is an inn that has been modernized and the junior suites on the main inn third floor are heaven with huge rooms with a small deck overlooking the park and in a quiet location. The lobby is quaint and includes the Wild Goose tavern restaurant which is an upscale establishment downstairs. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the prices well, let s just say it s Chatham, the fancy part of the Cape and you better bring your wallet. Highly recommend this spot if you want a luxury resort feel in the best town on Cape Cod.

Google says 3 star hotel, but it definitely deserves more than that. Staff was welcoming and inviting, Great service at their restaurant (Wild Goose Tavern), perfect location and the place was very clean. I felt very comfortable staying at the Wayside during COVID, and can't wait to go back.(I stayed back in September, 2020)

I love this hotel. I haven't had the privilege yet to stay in one of their rooms but from what I have seen and engaging with the staff and managers, this is the place to be if visiting Chatham. I also had the privilege of tasting something from their restaurant menu and I was hooked. Great place. Great people. Great food.

This Inn seemed to very much be a "wannabe" place, but didn't know quite know what it takes to be a nice Inn.While not on the beach or ocean, the location is a great downtown one.Service seemed reluctantly provided, and with an attitude. They provided a low level of service: with two people at the front desk and no other customers there, I waited for one on the computer to finish or the other on their cell phone to finish. The two seemed to be playing a game of chicken, which would break and help the customer. If a question was outside the typical front desk question the answer wasn't, anything to the effect of "let me see if I can help you with that", but "I'm not sure" or "I don't know."A top end (there are three levels) king room had one chair in it, fine when I'm alone on business, but I don't think that's the bulk of the clientele. The room needs two chairs or a couch, which there was space for. The chair itself was very discolored at contact surfaces: top of arms, seat and back. Color was quite different (looked cleaner) on non-contact surfaces such as sides. We didn't know if it was dirty or if the color had worn. Other than color, fabric seemed to be in okay condition. We didn't/wouldn't sit in it. Bed was good for sleeping, and we also sat on it.There were three windows, one larger two smaller, but the larger was broken. The sash would go up, but when released would slam down. There was some wood rot that had some black dots in it. Mold?Bathroom was fine, but plain, devoid of decor and even missing some typical items such as a hair dryer. The showerhead moved minimally, and angled up so the spray couldn't be avoided. The outlets at the head of the bed were full and no outlet was available in the nightstand light or otherwise. We pulled the nightstands out, unplugged stuff and plugged our stuff in. It worked, but more appropriate of a Motel 6, not the nice Inn this wants to be.The Continental breakfast was very plain and uninspiring: bowl of cut up, unripe cantaloupe and honeydew, blueberries, juices, coffee, tea, water, little packs of typical Kellogg's cereals, yogurt, and mass produced, plastic bag bagels and white and wheat bread with a toaster available. We were here one night and won't be back.

Christmas at the Wayside Inn, Chathamhas been a truly wondrous experience. My fianc and I flew up from our home in Ft Lauderdale to announce our engagement to her family in person, in addition to spending the Christmas Holidays with them.We made arrangements to stay at the Wayside Inn for our stay. The Hotel/Inn is lovely and quant. We received a complimentary room upgrade upon our arrival and the staff was exceptional in so many ways.As many travelers know, the holidays can be a difficult time for folks in the hospitality and service industry as well as for the guest.Additionally, many hotel services that one would generally expect to receive can be a tad limited during the holiday season as management tries to balance their service staffs time between their families and their job.Suffice to say that the hotel and staff did an excellent job at providing superior and exceptional services to their guest during this holiday period. We were especially surprised to find some lovely gifts wrapped up outside of our room as we opened the door on Christmas morning. What a wonderful surprise!I have stayed at some of the finest 5 star hotels and resorts throughout the world but have never experienced the genuine warmth and feelings of belonging that we experienced by all of the service staff at the Wayside Inn during this holiday period. It truly exceeded our expectations in so many ways.As my fianc s family is from the general area, going forward, we will continue to book our stays at this lovely Inn/hotel.Ken and Ann

My stay at the Wayside was AWESOME! My girlfriend and I rented bikes at a spot down the street, biked to the beach, had a delicious meal at the Wild Goose Tavern, and then grabbed drinks at the Chatham Squire right across the street. I was able to spend a full weekend in Chatham without ever needed to pull my car out of the parking lot!

I booked and cancelled my reservation minutes later. I spoke to someone there and they told me due to covid, they were being more flexible with the cancellation policy and would allow me to cancel my reservation with a 75 dollar fee. I was told I was to be refunded less 75 dollars a week later on Friday. A week later, I called after not receiving my refund. They claimed no one told me such a thing and now they will not allow me to cancel. If you're on the phone with them, record it, otherwise they will deny your previous conversations ever happening.

My sister, mother, aunt and myself looked for a break from shopping. We got an outside table so we could watch the people going bye. We wanted to grab a little bite to eat. We had some appetizers and drinks. The food and drinks arrived quickly. Our waitress was kind and made wonderful suggestions.
