Went there to fix a brake light problem. Got a quote of $95 dollars. I said OK (but I didn t sign anything, google reviews are good so I decided to trust the shop).After the repair was done, the bill was $300+ dollars. Note: no extra service was done, it was just for the agreed brake light service.Be very carefully of the quote they give you, actual cost could be 3x the quote.I would not come back again and would not recommend this place.The shop is sketchy as described in other reviews.

If you do take your car here, DO NOT PAY for anything until you ve done a quality check and ensure the service or inspection was actually completed. This is the last place you should take your car for a mass inspection, or for any service in general. They are a perfect example of a business that will screw their customers and cut corners just to make an extra buck. The employees and office are also unprofessional and very sketchy.

Been going to Shimons for years. Not only are they excellent mechanics they are TRUSTWORTHY people. A very rare combination in this industry. The only issue the word is out and they are too busy. That said they are worth the wait. This place is great.

I have been using Shimon s for at least 10 years. Honest mechanic, fast turnaround, does not try to sell more than is needed, kind staff and always gives a reasonable price. He is definitely a neighborhood favorite considering how busy he gets!

Unfortunately, he was very rude to me. The owner didn t clearly explain on the phone the hours for inspection, and they told me I couldn t hear good when I came into the store and then cussed me out the store when I said that there was no reason to yell.

Sketchy and Rude. Went in for an inspection, failed us for a window tint that passed in prior years, offered a way to "take care of it". We get the tint fixed by another shop who said the tint was legal. We come back and they get upset that we fixed it and had the audacity to tell us that it was actually another window and it was the fault of "the new guy". I left my car with Shimon s because my car was dead, and I left a note that I most likely needed a battery replacement but was unsure because of other symptoms. I got a call today just telling me to pick up my car, with no details as to pricing or what the issue was. They did not ask for confirmation to go forward with the battery replacement. I was told when I dropped the car off that the battery replacement would cost around $140, but it ended up being over $180.Most importantly, when I was clarifying if I could receive the labor discount through Triple A, the man said that maybe I didn t understand him because [my] English wasn t good. I m born and raised in the U.S. and speak perfect English even though racist people may make assumptions because I am ethnically Asian.

Used to be very good, but now definitely not recommended. I guess I'm not the first person feel very disappointed about the decline of their service. Very rude and impatient people. Also treat my car rude. I don't receive a state inspection report after the inspection (not by print or online). And they never try to be helpful. They just take your money, do a 10-min quick check and kick you out. The worse and rudest inspectors I have ever met.Service: Vehicle Inspection

I've come to Shimon's Service Station twice now - once for a car window repair and another time for an oil change + headlight bulb replacement.Both times the service was excellent and very fairly priced. Highly recommend this place!

Quick and straightforward. The reputation that's being described as negative is this team getting misunderstood. If you have a problem with your vehicle this team will find it and resolve it in a jiffy! They are getting the work done quickly and correctly for multiple customers. They don't need to coddle you and you don't pay them to do so. If you are in a bind and need help to quickly get you in and out with your money and vehicle saved, look no further than Shimmon! I overheard someone showing their son the sign out side and they said, remember this sign! This is the best mechanic in Brookline! AAA certified too!

I brought my car in twice last week. Everyone was kind and very helpful. They told me the best way to save money, and the services I received were very fairly priced (I didn't even have to pay the second time I took my car in). As someone who does not know much about cars, I could have easily been taken advantage of, but I truly had a great experience here. Highly recommend!

I went to Shimon s for my MA State Inspection. The staff was very kind and willing to work with my schedule. They completed the inspection, installed my new plates, and applied the inspection sticker in about 15 minutes! I was very pleased with their service and definitely recommend this service station!

Went for my state inspection and was back home within 30 minutes. I am so impressed with this place! The staff is kind and did not rip me off (only a few dollars to replace a brake light) which I appreciate being a young woman. Shimon s Service Station is great for state inspection! I m from out of state and they were helpful in the process. Also please note the gas pumping is serviced by the receptionist. He might not have all the answers to your questions. I say come with patience because the service is great!They will drive your car into the garage.When you arrive it s better to park first!!Also the man helped me changed my out of state license plate. So nice!

We brought our 2010 CRV in for an inspection on a Sunday. The staff person was incredibly helpful and friendly. Unbeknownst to us he adjusted a side fender that was beveled out from old age and an accident years ago. We never noticed until today! My sincere appreciation Shimon Service!

Went today for my inspection sticker. I read the reviews first- I understand people either love or hate. I was in and out in less than thirty minutes or so. There were two cars in front of me. Workers seemed to have a little language barrier, I can understand how that might seem rude or harsh, but I think it was ok. Small lot, lots of moving cars around.Service: Vehicle Inspection

As another reviewer said, it's very mixed here.I went to get an inspection a few months ago, and they were very friendly. I was about third in line and didn't wait too long. I hadn't yet drilled holes on my front bumper for my new Mass license plates (just moved from out of state), and they were nice enough to mount it for me AND fill my tires. They seemed friendly to every customer that came in and out on that day.Today, I went to a gas station to fill my tires, and the machine had broken, so I went to Shimon's because they seemed reliable. I told them I just needed my tires filled with air and that the machine across the street was broken, to which the man responded, "And it's my fault it's broken?" and had apparently not heard the "I need my tires filled" part. I asked how much it would cost (I had a debit card and quarters on me, as I only left home to get gas and fill my tires), and he said to tip him. I told him I had no cash and he questioned why I asked for the price, as though I had no way to pay. I felt so anxious that I just left instead of filling my tires. Even worse, I realized that one of the caps to the air valve isn't on one tire, and they were the last place that filled them.Perhaps it depends on the day with them. I was trying to get my car ready for a long weekend of work, and instead came home feeling defeated, and with still-very-low tires.

Took my car in a couple months ago for a state inspection and the service was great. While there I asked them for a quote on tires because another name brand franchise had told me I needed a new set. This shop took a look at my tires after I told them I was willing to buy a new set they instead told me my tires are fine for at least another year. Skip ahead to today where I took my car in again because the exhaust was making more sound than usual and they were able to get my car in and fixed by the end of the day. It s so hard to find a shop you can trust and I definitely trust these guys.

Save your time and money. I wasn t sure what was causing a loud noise and they clearly didn t drive around or inspect anything and charged me without fixing the problem I came in for. Chaotic, disorganized, and no care for getting the job done. Ridiculous.

Went here for an inspection this afternoon and had a great experience! I didn't have to wait at all - someone met me right as I walked in. Luckily, they were just finishing up another car, so I was next. The inspection was very quick - maybe 5 to 10 minutes total after I parked. The staff was all friendly, attentive, and professional. Would absolutely recommend for an inspection - 5/5 stars.

I read a bunch of reviews before I decided to give Shimon's a try. They're truly exceptional! I brought my car in for a state inspection. The receptionist was super polite and friendly, gave me details of the wait time and what to talk to the mechanic about. People who gave him bad reviews probably didn't understand his foreign accent and vocabularies. The mechanic did my inspection for the regular price and helped me replaced my out of state license, and balanced my tire pressure for free! I think I just become their loyal customer, lol

I've had very mixed experiences here.Once I brought a car with a faulty oxygen sensor and clicking in the transmission. The problem was diagnosed, and about $900 of work was done to fix the problem. When I came to get the car it had a faulty oxygen sensor and the same clicking. They had done ALL kinda of work except the once I asked them to do. When I asked what was going on they told me they don't know why the clicking noise. They then replaced the oxygen sensor. Eventually I found out that the cause of the clicking was the failure of the spring in the pressure plate.Another time I brought the car here for a technical inspection. I was told that the exhaust is leaking. Ok. So they did $300 of work , told me that the problem is fixed, issued the inspection. EXCEPT that now a) there was a loud rattling noise from the exhaust (they refused to acknowledge that it was new) and b) that NOW the passenger compartment was FILLING UP with smoke ! It was so bad that withing a minute of turning on the engine I'd become nauseous , groggy , and have accelerated salivation - all symptoms of monoxide poisoning !! Yeah, that's what $300 bought me!I took the car to another place , where upon inspection they found out that the exhaust manifold was ENTIRELY broken off the engine block! I can tell you for sure that this was not the case when I got it to Shimon's.The service here is not bad. It's dangerous.

I brought my car to Shimon s after my brakes began grinding late one evening. They were closed for service but were extremely accommodating, looking at my car at no charge and advising that I needed to replace my brakes. I was able to leave my car and they replaced the brakes by the next afternoon at a very fair price. Great experience, thank you!Service: Brakes

I went here for my annual MA vehicle inspection and couldn't have been more pleased. It was very easy, everyone who worked there was extremely nice, and they even attached my front license plate for free (I had a license plate mount but not the hardware to attach the plate itself). Would definitely visit again!

Great auto service place. I was having trouble starting my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had brought it to a jeep dealership twice and after about $1,500 in repairs it still was struggling so I brought here to try an independent repair shop.They astutely diagnosed that there was a recall on the jeep that had been checked off as completed by jeep, despite the fact that the work had never been performed. The part was missing from my car. He explained it to me, opened the hood and showed me where it should be (it was an external fuel pump relay) and recommended to bring it back to the dealership since the recall work would be covered by jeep. He did not charge me a dime for his diagnosis. I took it back to the jeep dealership and they fixed it for free. The car is now working fine.Also, I have had some other work done at Shimon's (replaced my spark plug). It was done in a timely manner and for a very reasonable price. I am very happy with their service will be going back there for any other car issues.

Best auto service I've ever had. I drove into Boston after having my brakes replaced. On my way out of town, I heard a terrible noise and pulled into Shimon's Service Station. Even though they were very busy, the owner listened to my situation, rode with me in the car, and took it right in. He found a bolt was missing and two parts of the wheel chassis were inches apart. He had it repaired within 15 minutes and did not even charge me. Exceptional service and customer relations!Service: General repairs & maintenance
