Very friendly and professional. When my tire pressure alert was on and I wasn't sure if I had damage or not, they were quick to get everything checked out.I was able to get back on the highway with peace of mind.If you're in the area, I can definitely recommend Ell-Bern if you're in a bind.

Let's face it, going to the mechanic is not fun and usually puts me in a grumpy mood. Car repairs are seldom, cheap. That said, I thought Ell-Bern Automotive was professional, courteous, explained everything thoroughly, and there were no surprises on the price. I didn't feel like they were trying to upsell me on anything unnecessary, which I have experienced at other shops. I did not have an opportunity to compare what it would have cost to repair my car somewhere else, but they are in Boston proper and convenient to where I work.

Went for a car inspection sticker, Saturday around 1 pm. They close at 3 pm. It was raining, not busy! Only had to wait five minutes, and then my turn seemed to only take 5 minutes. Quick and painless!!!

Very bad experience. I came to get my brand new car inspected yesterday. It was quite late in the day, so I was very thankful that they were able to fit me in before they closed. The gentleman at the shop took my car back and did the inspection, but when he brought it out, I saw he had tracked a bunch of dirt and dust into the vehicle. I asked if he had a rag or a wipe to wipe up all of the dust. He replied by saying: What do you expect when you take your car to get inspected? What do you expect when you take your car to the dealership? It s going to get dirty. Do you expect me to wear a white suit and go into your car to do the inspection? I responded by saying that I expect my car to be given back to me the way it was brought in. He then said I m not going to help you. I don t have time for you, leave or go complain to the woman in the shop. The woman in the shop looked at the car and although it seemed like she was also annoyed, she did actually help. The cleaning job was done poorly and with a dirty rag, but I was so flustered and confused as to why someone would act this way after I asked for something so simple. I know inspections are state mandated, but I won t be coming back to this business and don t believe anyone should go here if they care about their vehicle.Service: Vehicle Inspection

DO NOT USE this shop at any cost! I am not one to complain about shops making profit on parts and charging a 130-150% markup. This shop charged me almost 450% on parts for an alternator and S belt. Wouldn t let me see the invoice until I shelled out $950. Scam artists.Service: Electrical repairService: Electrical repair

I went in because my driver side window wasn't working. It turned out the window regulator and motor need to be replaced. They quoted me $800 for this. Where did they pull this number out of?! They also said it would take a week for them to get the parts. Anyway, I took my car to a different mechanic instead and they diagnosed and fixed this same issue for $400 within 24 hours. SO...... go elsewhere!

I always come here for the inspection sticker. They get you in and out very quick and very convenient. I also came in here to have my car looked at and they were able to fit me in first thing in the morning. The service was great and they were good at communication on what needed to be done, no surprises here. I m just really thankful they were able to see me so quick!

Do not bring your car for A/C, oil check, or other maintenance services. Had to request itemized receipt multiple times and did not receive an answer regarding what checks were performed on my vehicle. Instead, I was asked no less than 6 times to pay $99 before having any of my questions answered.After bringing my car to another shop in Cambridge, I was able to have my original issue (A/C not blowing cold air) resolved after Ell-Bern told me a new compressor would be needed when in reality the system was blocked.Don t bring your car to amateurs, and avoid this business at all costs.

Edit: why did I agree? I didn't have time that's why I had to agree. I didn't have choice. Regarding your 'good service' response: 4 screws and good service looks funny when they come together.Plate change, just 4 screws and 1 minute job right? Okay you will be charged $10. This is not about money, it's all about intention. Stay away and find somewhere else for inspection.

Went here with a recommendations from a couple coworkers for my first in city oil change and inspection on my Rav4. Was able to make an appointment for the next day easily. Friendly customer service and got my car right in and out! Great prices as well and were upfront with them and credit fees when I asked. They didn't mention the oil filter was included in the price they gave for the oil change or ask if I wanted it replaced but for the price I was very pleased it was, so color me surprised but in a good way. They did turn on some features of my car that I wish they had turned back off after they tested them for the inspection since I'm now not sure how to. Will def be going here again.Service: Oil change

If I could rate 0 stars, I would. I've never experienced such horrible customer service for such a simple transaction. Note to management, hire people who pay attention and aren't rude to customers because of their own personal issues. I'll gladly take my business elsewhere.

Highly recommend this place! Live nearby and have been going here for years for oil changes, inspections, repairs, tires, etc and have only had very positive experiences. The guys that work here are friendly and always helpful. They are efficient and my car is always done sooner than expected. Prices are great and service is 5 star. Came in mid-afternoon for an inspection thinking there would be a long wait, but there was only one car in front of me. Takes them about 10min to do it and it s cash only $35, but they have an ATM if you don t have cash on you. Very convenient and fast service and happy with them.

Had a flat tire and called ahead. Was told to bring it over and they should be able to take a look and in most cases be out within 30 minutes. I got there and dealt with Haydar who was the consummate gentleman and professional. Plugged my flat tire and sent me on my way in less than 15 minutes. Worth every dime. Highly recommend. I called ahead for an inspection and the person who answered was polite and helpful. They don't do appointments but they have a very fast, smooth system. I was very impressed. The only caveat is that the front office doesn't wear masks inside. However, the guy who appeared to be in charge of my inspection took my payment himself, and was very kind about it. The speed alone is worth 5 stars.

Recommend!!Got my inspection sticker done and my car battery replaced. I brought in a new one I had bought. They swapped out the old one and disposed it for me for $10.Got me in and out so fast. The guy I dealt with was very nice and efficient.Inspection sticker is $35 cash $37 if you use your credit card.Service: General repairs & maintenance

This business is absolutely amazing! Everyone that works there is so nice and goes above and beyond to help their customers. They are fast and efficient and so kind. I ve never had such a great experience at a car place! This one was amazing (best auto place experience I ve ever had had). It s the only place to use in Boston in my opinion (especially if you are a young attractive women & men are usually predatory toward you at auto shops). These men are in incredibly nice and professional at all times. 1000/10 recommend. No where else anyone should go for car work in Boston except here. Exceptional service Services: Tires, Oil change

Had a great experience at Ell-Bern. I was having some car issues that were addressed promptly. The staff constantly communicated with me throughout the process. I asked if they could do an oil change and tire rotation on top of the repair and they did it no problem! So, this garage literally saved me. I was visiting from Montreal and got a flat tire. The owner provided help from the first late night message I sent to the repair of my car. He accepted that I tow my car there in the middle of the night, found snow tires, installed them so that I could go back to Montreal safely. I am more than impressed by the service. Thanks again

The level of inconsideration and incompetence of this shop is mind blowing. I m leaving this review on behalf of my girlfriend who came to this shop to have a tire plugged after having a nail in it. Firstly, I have never seen a shop actually charge someone for plugging a tire, but that s not even the problem. Even after charging a fee, the tire was overfilled, completely ignoring specified pressure levels. On top of that, if you re gonna charge someone for that service, it should include checking the pressure of all 4 tires, which was also not complete as one other tire was still below optimal pressure level. Management has some serious work to do.Service: Tires

I had come here for a vehicle inspection previously and everyone was extremely polite and professional. I am new to the area and a couple people recommended this place. Came back when I heard some noises coming from my car. Once again everyone I dealt with was extremely nice and they were very honest. I dropped off my car and they were able to get back to very promptly. I will definitely be coming back for future car issues or maintenance. Highly recommend.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Went in today for an inspection and an oil change, they quoted me 50 something or other for the fully synthetic oil change and 35 on inspection as posted on their store front. Guys were great to me and quick service. I did however fail my inspection for a headlight, 2 plate lights, and 1 side marker light. I had them fix it for ease and not wanting to come back for the pass sticker or pay for it again elsewhere, but they are easy fixes. After I left I looked up the light prices at autozone and wasn t pleased to find I was up charged $20 on the headlight, and $10 on the other 3 as they are the same light. That s $50, and then they charged me $45 for labor.. it took all of 10 minutes. I want my $100 back! I understand a small upcharge for convenience and happy to pay them for their time, but I feel ripped off.Service: Oil change

They supposedly did an oil change w/o informing me first & after completion of supposed oil change it was only at 80%. BTW, I had an oil change approx. 3 mos. previously.You say my name is not in the system, my husband brought the car in. My car is in the system. Also it was your employee who told my husband there was no way to determine the % of oil in the car. You can't do anything for me, I won't allow you to beat me twice.Service: Oil change

Super efficient and friendly. I just drove across the country to wake up to a flat tire at my new home. So grateful to have these folks nearby! They plugged it in no time, even though the shop was busy. Great price too.

Great place, went for the inspection, quick and easy. Before I left I asked if by chance they could help me figure out who to go to because my car seat handle that opens up to the backseat was very hard. The guy started checking out right away and added some oil to something underneath the seat and voila! He wouldn t charge me for that, and the lady and guy who worked with me were fantastic.

Get a quote first! Brought my car in to have one tire replaced and my front tires rotated with my rears. With a hydraulic lift and impact gun, for a mechanic, that's 10 minutes of work moving slowly. They charged me $60 for the rotation which is the equivalent of about 45minutes of work but he took the $5 disposal fee off because I complained and their prices are set. Your set prices will have me never come back.The only price that was quoted to me upfront was $35 to mount the tire. I asked to rotate the tires. I did not ask for balancing. We are in a pandemic and some of us CANNOT work and are loving of savings but thanks for being condescending in your reply. Also no one was wearing masks that was working there.

A few years ago, these guys tried to take advantage of my wife during an inspection by failing her and saying her windshield wipers were no good. The wipers were fine, They just wanted to sell her new wipers. Brought the car to another shop, the car passed, no problem. These guys are not honest. I live right next to them and would give them all my business, however, I decided I would never bring my car there again for anything whatsoever. Well shame on me because I tried one more time to get my inspection done there. MISTAKE. Same issues. I ll pay another honest shop the extra fee just to not have to deal with this place. If you ever find yourself thinking that bringing your car here is a good idea, think again. Don t do it.**To your response, you re lying. You tried to sell my wife wipers directly after failing the car. So please, don t lie to make yourself sound like you don t try to rip people off. Own it. I would bring both of my cars to you for anything and everything but every time I ve done that, it backfires due to how you run your business. So like I said, shame on me for trying again.

Very professional and efficient. My front brakes needed changing and the staff did an excellent and incredibly fast job. I felt I was in good hands - these are folks you can trust.
