Great place to find tool rentals, all the home & garden DYI tools, fasteners, locks, etc..., and some unique good quality mechanics & carpentry hand tools.

If I could rate this location any lower- I would. I have had nothing but pleasant exchanges with the staff, however the owner and equipment leave much to be desired. This was my fourth year in a row (and my last) renting law equipment from them for fall seeding. For hourly rentals that start the clock at the register, I'd never let it bother me that it takes 30-45 minutes of the rental time for them to check out/ load the equipment. Last year, I went home with a slice seeder and core aerator and when I pulled to start the aerator the starter handle and cord pulled right out. They didn't have any other equipment available so I ended up loading it right back up and taking it back in. For the Inconvenience, they refunded my rental... for the equipment the broke before use. This year, even with brand new equipment, the chain snapped on the core aerator less that three feet in to the job. On par from the year before, the best they could do for the customer is refund the rental cost. Not bring new equipment. Not offer any further rental options. Not make any consideration for the time spent all for none. When the owner of this location came to pick up the equipment curbside, as it couldn't even be loaded back in to my truck without the chain, he left the ramps that had been rented along side the equipment. The store had called to follow up- and I told them I would be happy to bring them by, as they had not moved since they came to pick up the equipment. THE DAY AFTER I spoke with them, the owner calls me and leaves a voice mail expressing that they "have me on camera"... picking them up? A clear accusation of theft. I promptly returned his call and expressed my dissatisfaction with the situation, the insinuation, and customer service, which was completely disregarded. I told him I would no longer be using that location, to his reply "that would be a true blessing". Aside from refunding the rental fees, for the equipment that was never used and PROMPTLY returned, there was not even an attempt at anything resembling customer service or satisfaction. He had no problem being fully transparent that he couldn't care less about my business or coming to any resolution. Not only will I never use this location again- I will highly encourage that no one use this location unless you're ready for a headache

Great rental department, if you need a stump decimated rent the monster in the pic! Not cheap but makes short work of ANY stump.

I called to see if they had an item in stock. The associate had never heard of the item, so she put me on hold to check. When she came back 5 minutes later, she gave me a vague answer, never really telling me if they carried the item, and I ended up having to drive to the store to look for the item. Nobody greeted me when I walked in even though there were 2 associates working the counter and only 3 people in the store. I didn't find the item I was looking for and I wish the associate would have taken the time to understand what I was looking for so I hadn't wasted my gas and time to go look myself.

Rented a 6/36 trencher and was very pleased with the customer service. Trencher needed new tires but worked well enough. Super impressed with the customer service....can't say enough good about them!!!

Rude employee(s). Upon returning a rented carpet shampooer, I questioned if the damage waiver fee that was added to my bill was optional. A cashier (not the rude employee) offered me a refund on the damage waiver ($4.20) and I accepted. I did not ask for a refund. A male employee then came forward and said we don't refund damage waivers. I said that's okay because I didn't ask for a refund, but I was offered a refund and I accepted. Male employee didn't want to listen to my question about the damage waiver and talked over me every time I spoke. He then told me I don't have to rent from True Value. I agreed that I could find rental equipment elsewhere. He became more rude and obnoxious and continued to talk over me during the entire conversation. He then started making ridiculous comments like "Merry Christmas," "Happy Easter," etc. Why does such an idiot work there? No need to be rude when a customer asks questions to attempt to understand the contract and store policies.

Rented a stump grinder... Front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. Personnel in the back have absolutely no customer service skills. When I went around back to pick up the grinder, the first person I talked to couldn't be bothered to help. Had to park and wait for another guy who told me to go back to the side of the store and get a trailer. I had to back up and hitch it myself. Then, had to get my daughter to direct me to get the truck and trailer out of the tight quarters. By now, the rep has gone back to the building to get a battery and cables. It turns out the battery in the grinder is dead. He jumps and gets it going. I ask if he is going to replace the battery? He says no, it's just cold and I should have no problem starting it later. So, I get it home and, big surprise, it won't start. 15 minutes of digging out my charger, ext cord and leaving it connected it starts. Grinder did work well and I got a lot of use from it. When I went back to return the machine, it was the same experience. Front desk was friendly, rep who unloaded the machine and guided me back to park the trailer said like 4 words to me the entire time. Will probably look for other options the next time I need to rent equipment.

Very nice staff. We rented chairs for Thanksgiving and they loaded the chairs into my car, but the parking spot for loading up rental items is very tight and hard to park.

We got a flat in our RV luckily right in front of Solomon's true value. The guys there really stepped up to help us inflate our tire and search it for a hole. No holes. Turns out we didn't tighten something up so they were able to get us back on the road with some air. They were so helpful and friendly while my husband and I were taking turns being panicked. Thank you guys so much for all your help!!

I have been going to True Value for a couple of years now, they were grand rental station when I started shopping there. I have noticed that the prices there are higher than any other hardware store in the area. A lot of their pest control and gardening products seem like they were buried in a dusty warehouse for a decade or more. Those are complaints I can usually look past because of the helpful and friendly staff. However, I went there on 06/15/18 and one of the guys behind the counter was obviously high on something. He had track marks up and down his arms and he was tweaking. He was jumping around, panicky, shaky, and couldn't stop fidgeting. His pupils were dilated, and he handed me the wrong receipt 3 times, so I finally gave up and took the last one he gave me which had the wrong item on it. The following day, I saw him buying something from 3 young guys in the parking lot through their car window while looking around like he was nervous that he'd get caught. I'm very disappointed that True Value allows this type of thing in their store and I will not go back unless I'm in a serious bind and I need something in a hurry.

Went for soil and mulch. Limited soil selection on the shelf (and limited help from counter). I did find something and hauled 3 bags to the front. I asked about mulch (buy at the register and then drive around back for pick-up). I asked if they had cedar mulch. Front counter man said he knew they had red mulch, brown mulch and some other kind but he couldn't remember. But i could walk to the back of the store and asked Victor. So I did. Victor said it was pine mulch. I went back up front and bought 6 bags of red mulch. Counter man rang me up, said he *would* offer to help me take the 3 bags of soil to my car but he was the only one at the front. We were also the only 2 people in the store besides Victor and the lady he was making keys for but no problem. I hauled the soil a couple feet to my car (after all a gardener can't make it far if she can't carry soil, right?) and I drove around back. Self serve. I loaded 6 bags of mulch in my car. By that time it had started raining. So that was fun. I appreciate that it was open on a Sunday when my neighborhood Ace was not but I would probably go back to Ace where people are really helpful, they walk you over to a shelf when you have Qs and they load up the car for you around back.

My company rents from these nice folks all the time (almost weekly), and we've hardly ever had any issues. Jeff and his dad are always great to deal with, and it's nice to have a local place that has everything we need at any given time. We've only had very minor issues with rental equipment, and the things that have happened couldn't be known before use. We'll continue to do business with them, as we proudly, and wholeheartedly support our local small businesses!

My fianc� and I rented a trencher from here this past weekend. The trencher belt was broken, cables kept popping off, and the gears didn t work. They refused to give us a new machine or a discount. I highly recommend NOT renting from this company or you might end up with broken machinery and horrible customer service.

Usually a really good place to get rental tools and such, but today was very bad. Went to pick up the tool I had requested but it wasn't showing I reserved it, even though I got a confirmation call saying it was available and being held for me. No problem is still there. The lady on the phone quoted me $18 and some change, but when I went to pay the cashier said it was $30. Another person brings the tool out from the back, is the wrong one so he goes back. Comes back about 10 minutes later and says here you go. I requested this specific tool because I had bought attachments for it. Get home, it's still the wrong tool, so I go back again. This time the same person takes me with him to go look for what I need, it's not around. Apparently an employee took it for personal use but it was still in the system. Another gentleman starts to assist, eventually just gives me a similar tool with the bit I needed. I go back into the store to fix the paperwork and the lady at the front said it would be another $15 for the bit! What!? I already had attachments, right there with me even to make sure I got the right tool. They wouldn't budge. What could I do, I needed the tool and the bit for a project right then. Very unsatisfied with them this time.

All I can say is don't waste your money on renting from this place. I rented a chipper and used it for about 2 hours and then it started to leak fuel everywhere. After a inspection it was found all the wiring was melted and so were other things. Called and was transferred to the owner and explained to him what was going on. Was told to bring the machine back right away . So I took the machine back and showed the findings to the him. Was instructed to go around front he would be up. After pulling around front he came out from the back saying I was lying to him and also I had put 8 hours on the unit. I told him that was impossible since I had the unit for less then 8 hours plus I had to make 2 trips to his store to pick up the equipment and it's a hour round trip. At the end I was given the shaft and have learned my lesson the the owner of this store has the same mo Of ripping off his customers and the more people I talk to the more of the horror stories I hear of this place of business. So at the end of the day I will tell you stay away from this place unless you want to loose your hard earned money also and be called a liar even when the proof is right in front of them

I walked in and no one said a word or even acknowledged my presence. A simple hi or welcome or can we help you goes a long way as I was looking for a Stihl blower and was ready to drop serious cash. They didn t have much anyway so I was glad not to give my business to a place that didn t seem to care much I was there.

I rented a chainsaw, which stopped working due to "operator error". Jeff (back in customer service) not only repaired the saw at no additional cost while I waited, but took the time to give me a crash course on using the saw more efficiently. The remainder of the job was smooth sailing. Nice store, quality folks. I highly recommend them!

A great family owned business that's been around a long time. In addition to the hardware store there's also a section to rent machinery and a repair shop for chainsaws and other] power tools.All in all a complete, well rounded place of business.

Beware horrible customer service!!! Rented a power washer for a day and had it delivered. The guy on the phone had a chip on his shoulder a sign of the attitude of the ownership. After using for two hours it wouldn't start after refueling. I called them, he said the owner would call me.In the mean time I got another one from a friend. He never called but showed up and demanded full payment even though it clearly was broken and wouldn't start. I even offered half a day payment. He said I broke it on purpose in order to not pay.... Really??!Give me a break you lost a customer and I'll be sure to tell everyone I meet. As a local realtor it's a lot of people...

Not only could they not mix up a quart of flat black paint, when I went to the register I noticed the cashier's mask had slipped from her nose (I thought). I informed her she needed to pull her mask back up to cover her nose and she argued with me! She said her mouth was covered and that was all she had to do. I guess she's a mouth breather...

Love coming here. No massive crowds like Lowe's. Park right out front instead of in the back of the parking lot with cars flying everywhere. They have most of the stuff you need at reasonable prices.

Excellent small engine repair and dealer. Good basic hardware for nearly all basic needs. Shh don't tell anyone. They normally dont have any line outside during COVID bull ****. Nice quick, no wait service at the register

Rented a trencher, for pet fence. First one was bad...kept throwing/burning up the belts. They gave me a second day for free a week later. This time they had a new one and it worked great!

I should have read this review before renting an overseeder here this weekend. The overseeder was not working properly/not spreading seeds evenly when I tried on my lawn and returned/asked a refund. but the owner came out and yelling at me 'No refund'. I tried to argue with him but he intimidated me calling police. I would not recommend this place.

Horrible horrible customer service from store owner that acts like a dictator. Don't buy/rent any equipment such as chain saw or aerator from there. Those are not working and if you complain they blame you and no refund. This place deserve not even one star. Stay away from ripoff. They monopoly this area and don't care about customer. Very bad customer service and full of disappointment. Failed business.

I've been renting equipment and buying materials from this store for nearly 2 decades. Being right down the street is more than convenient and they always have those hard to find parts I need from time to time.
