I took my car to TOTAS to diagnose a problem. Turned out to be basically nothing and they didn't charge me anything! I also just took my car for an oil change. They were able to take it immediately and it was about $25 less than another local garage I've been going to. They are also very friendly!

This is the only place I take my car. Great service, quick turnaround, reasonable costs, and (most importantly) honest staff. They will check your car and if something doesn't need fixing, they wont upsell you. I can see why they always have so much business. There is always a full lot of cars to be serviced, yet they always can fit me in if I'm flexible. I would keep coming here even if I moved to Richmond.

Terrible. I do not recommend.Came here 08/22/23 for safety inspection. They found my car needed 2 front lower ball joints. 3 other mechanics, including a state inspector, all said that the ball joints were FINE!Glad I got 2nd & 3rd opinions that saved $1400 of unneeded repairs.

Just moved to Maryland and learned about the ridiculous one-time inspection (seriously, what's the point, if you don't do it regularly?). Was trying to schedule last-minute before a DMV appointment to title and register our car and Takoma OldTown Auto Service Center not only fit us in for the inspection, they did the minor repairs needed to satisfy the inspection quickly and fairly--in time for our DMV appointment. They even removed a charge from the estimate when it was easier than expected. This shop will be our go-to for as long as we live in the area. THANK YOU for rescuing us from the bureaucratic nightmare of moving a car into Maryland. Cheers!Services: Brakes, Vehicle safety inspection

I love this auto shop. They are always quick no matter how many cars are on the lot and very direct with prices. I ve been bringing my car here for a while and haven t had any bad experiences. Very quick turnaround time for repairs. I will continue coming as long as I live in the area.

Great mom and pop shop. I have had them do a few things for me now including replace my car's radiator, brakes and battery all at a reasonable price. They also did my inspection when I first moved here to Maryland. They are always very nice and professional and I would fully recommend them as a reliable place for whatever your automotive needs are.

I NEVER leave reviews for places, but this auto shop has been such a life saver for me that I felt compelled to for once.Even though I live in DC, it's worth it to come here because the owners are so honest, kind, and dependable. I've had them do big and small things on my car (including oil changes, fixing a broken mirror, radiator repair, and popping out a dent). I never feel like they are trying to do extra things that aren't needed. The prices are always extremely reasonable or sometimes even much less than what I expected to pay.It helps to get there early right when they open as it's a small shop and they can fill up quickly during the day.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Body & Trim, Side view mirror repair, Oil change

I lived in Silver Spring for 3 years, and my wife and I brought our cars to TOTA for all of our work. They always did an excellent job, listened patiently about issues, explained things well, and did the work quickly and at an excellent price. They never tried to upsell, and they were very thorough (always did a general safety inspection with any job) and honest (they told me when a repair was essential vs recommended, that I could wait 6 months or a year for an issue, etc). They were very kind and professional. This is a very good though small shop. I've got my MD State inspection done here. Friendly people. No issues. Dropped my car again for several issues and they were honest and told me I had to take it to the dealership because they weren't able to work on my car instead of making things up. I will continue to use their services for years to come.

Excellent experience! They delivered exactly as promised for cheaper than anywhere else nearby. The mechanic was patient in explaining everything and the customer service representative was thorough, efficient, and genuinely concerned about my car needs. My favorite part is that there is zero pressure. They are very professional, but in a friendly atmosphere. I will not take my car anywhere else.

Totas saved me on a road trip while stranded in DC with bad brakes, nothing but positive things to say. I was recommended to them by a local friend but I really needed to get the car serviced in one day. I called to ask their availability and had the car towed to their shop first thing Monday morning. Communication was excellent, they called me to confirm the car arrived just minutes after it got there (I was tracking the tow truck through their app). An hour later, they called me with the diagnosis, and I authorized a very reasonably priced repair for new rear rotors and pads. By 2:30, they called me back to tell me it was done. Quick, efficient, communicative, reasonably priced - what else could you ask for?Service: Brakes

Service is quick and fairly priced. They don't overcharge and will call you if they discover additional problems. Only downside is no waiting area. I've been taking my car here for years.

This place is seriously the best garage I have ever been to. We have used Takoma Old Town Auto Service for years for our Kia, Nissan, and Chevy. Top notch service, great work, friendly front desk and mechanic, on time, reasonable rates, and they are absolutely the most honest repair shop I've ever experienced. Spectacular customer service. Fair pricing, never feel like I m being nickel and dimed or upsold. I have taken both our Volkswagen and BMW there, and have taken my mother s Chrysler for service. They do amazing work!

This was by far my easiest and least stressful time at a mechanic's ever. The staff was super helpful and communicative through the process of getting my brakes replaced. I paid the same cost I was sent as an estimate. Can't recommend enough.

Been going here since 2002 & love them. Great family fun business that's fair, tells you exactly what you need to get done now and can wait later and will work w/ your budget. I've dealt w/ Joy, Bobby, Tien, etc. all good guys. They know my family and treat you like such too. I would take my car anywhere else unless they decide to close business. 100% recommend them!

Honest, knowledgable, family-owned mechanic shop that charges reasonable prices. They thoroughly diagnose and explain issues and run you through your options, never pushing you to buy anything. My father & I have been happy customers for years.

They have been looking after our cars for years. They are very good about notifying you of things they find, for presenting you with options, and they do great work. Have found them very honest and upfront about all of my repairs. Very honest and very kind.How good mechanic? No solid proof, yet I felt pretty good.I will leave my car there on any service.Why did I go there? Someone who has lived long enough in Silver Spring recommended this place.
