I needed a state inspection, easily set up an appointment for the next day, and the whole service was done about 4 hours after I dropped my car off. The people who I interacted with were friendly. A couple weeks later I even noticed that to my (pleasant) surprise, they had even attached my front license plate bracket without me asking. I had been so nervous that we would screw something up trying to do that ourselves, so it never happened. Honestly, that's what really convinced me to write this.My husband used their services a couple months ago and had a similar experience. He had to get a fair amount of work done but it was done well (as far as either of us could tell) and in a very reasonable amount of time.Definitely would return and recommend!

If you are looking for a down-to-Earth, fairly-priced and HONEST auto shop, look no further! These guys go above and beyond to provide fantastic service! The owner, Steve, has a heart of pure gold. He is one of the most involved bosses I have ever seen. He's on the floor working on cars alongside his employees (who are like family, they've almost all been there for several years). You'll also find him helping people get a ride to and from the shop. Seriously, the service is ABOVE AND BEYOND! As a single woman, I was treated with such dignity and respect, I was so grateful. I know I can trust the advice and the service they provide. I'll be back AND I'm telling all my friends and family this is the spot they need to go to for all auto and state inspection needs. Thank you!

On the recommendation of friends who've been coming to Hoffmaster's for years, I came in for headlight restoration on my rather vintage Honda Fit. They did a great job on my headlights --they look wonderful. They make the whole car look newer! Mike and his team are professional and very nice; there's a comfy waiting room and they do quality work at a reasonable price. I'm happy to give a 5-star rating to this local business.

I've taken my truck here a few times. I've always gotten prompt care, with honest open, up front pricing (in fact, I've had it come out UNDER what was quoted). They won't do unnecessary work, just to charge you more, and they'll let you know what costs may come up, so you aren't surprised when you show up to pick the vehicle up. Everyone who works there has been nice, and if someone isn't at the desk when you walk in, it won't take long for someone to come and help you. This is my go-to auto shop.

Definitely will be returning, great customer service. Comfortable waiting area with A/C,TV, Free Wi-Fi. Quick turn around on services needed. Strongly recommended.

Rude! I'm usually a calm person but today this place was dissatisfying & disappointing. I called wanting to come in for an inspection I was told to come anytime, when I came in the rude person at the desk aggressively stared that I never called to make an appointment, I told him I was told to just come in, he said he didn't say so. I said not you, but whoever answererd the call said so. It was a downhill experience from that point on. Additionally, the last time I was there a different gentleman said he help me get rid of some used parts for recycling,I brought the used parts with me this time, but Mr. rude at the desk said the gentleman from the other day never said that! One of them was obviously lying, why would I make up such a claim and bring the parts along. I'm pretty sure it's Mr rude at the front desk that is lying but who knows. I kept my calm just to get done and leave the place. Worst experience thus far. This guy was very disrespectful and arrogan amongst other things. If you see Mr. rude (chubby guy) avoiding at all costs, the older gentleman will be more helpful. Avoid if possible!

Took my car for free, lying that they are goin pay $200 to get it scrapped. Lies, they going to sell transmission $350,motor $399, catalytic converter $300, then get $250 for scrapping metal...

We rely on the Hoffmaster s team for the whole extended family. They always take care of us and do their best to be on time, charge reasonable prices, do good work and at the end of the day, we trust them the most in this area. There are not many businesses around that look after the best interest of their customers like they do. Thank you Steve, Mike and team!

The part I needed was going to take a week to arrive. The part arrived earlier than expected. I dropped my car off sounding like a junkyard vehicle; picked it up-was like a brand new car off the lot. A newfound love for driving my car was born again. Mike provides the best customer service no question and a side of humor! This will be the main shop I take my car to be serviced.

Been with Hoffmasters for years. Excellent customer service, excellent auto care, frank talk and reasonable charges. My first car was a beat up Camry that I absolutely needed to have, but no one wanted to touch. Steve and his team took excellent care of it until I had to let it go. Several cars later all our family cars are still cared for by the Hoffmasters team. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you, Steve, Mike, Alan and the team. The Best!

We had a few things done here for my wife's car and worked with Steve. He was very friendly and helped get our car back up and running smoothly. The prices for the repairs beat out the previous place significantly that our car was at. So far the car is running much better and no longer leaking fluids. We will definitely be coming back again for our future service needs.Thanks Steve and your crew for fixing our auto issues.

We've gone here for many years. They are honest and thorough. Another place recommended I have work done that would cost $400. Hoffmaster's said I didn't need any of it done and they didn't charge me for checking. They also gave me a ride home and picked me back up when they were finished checking my car. I don't need to go to anyone else next time. I should've gone here before the other place.

Hoffmaster's has been servicing my family's cars for years. I am extremely particular about my cars and Hoffmaster's is outstanding. The mechanics are excellent and provide detailed explanations of the necessary repairs. I am treated with honesty, fairness and respect and they always fit me in when I have an urgent problem. Hoffmaster's Auto Care has always been an excellent service. The rates are fair and the work is always quality and quick. They are willing to work with customers to get the most life out of a vehicle and offer sound advice on what should be fixed and what may not be worth the cost.This is a trustworthy shop with great people. This is the only mechanic I'll use as long as I'm in the area.

I had just moved to the area from the Midwest and was looking to get my safety inspection done in Maryland so I could register my F-150. After realizing that my vehicle that had passed every inspection in the other states that I lived in would require $2,000 worth of work I scheduled an appointment at this establishment.Within a day of my truck being in the shop I was called and notified that they had provided me an inaccurate estimate and the real cost would be over $3,000. They basically said that it was either I agree to the additional charges or I could come pick up the vehicle at their shop and take it somewhere else.The situation I was in was... I was brought in from the Midwest for a 3 month shutdown project on the local metro system that required me to be working over 100 hours a week, 11 days on and 3 days off. Essentially it was a nightmare for me to reschedule anything, so I agreed to the cost.In my line of work a poor estimate is the responsibility of the contractor. I was disappointed with the service and the upcharge in cost AFTER my vehicle was already in the shop.Overall the people were nice and I understand that they are forced to abide by the safety inspection rules outlined by the State of Maryland. But this set a poor precedent for me during my stay in this state. Which.. essentially got worse the 4 months I lived there. Happy to say I eventually relocated out of the DMV area. Don't really miss my time in DC.Service: Vehicle safety inspection

Charged over $300 just to troubleshoot and replace an ignition coil pack (15 min job), which didn't resolve the misfire problem. They wanted to perform a $700 procedure to access the fuel injectors with no guarantee that was the source of the misfire. I retrieved the vehicle, replaced the spark plugs and wiring (30 min, $50 job) myself, which resolved the misfire. It seems like they were trying to make a few bucks at my expense. No thanks.

This auto shop is amazing! Honest Mechanics really exist! The owner, Steve, is Great. And Ladies, no need to worry about being taken advantage of because your female. Definitely the shop that will take care of my cars from now On!

My family has used Hoffmaster's Auto Care, both in their current location and in their prior location, for several decades. This is by far, the most dependable, professional and customer oriented auto repair shop in the area. I recommend this repair shop and have total confidence in their work. They stand behind their work and will not make up a problem....if your car is fine, they will say so. Great place for your car and your wallet.

Reliable, fast, honest. My family has been a loyal customer of the owner and mechanic, Steve Hoffmaster, for many many years, even before Hoffmasters Auto Care was in business. He is one of the most honest and kind people I know. I highly recommend for anybody who wants good service to come here. I guarantee you will have a great experience and become a loyal customer as well.
