I ve been going to German Auto Works for over 25 years. Dennis and his staff have always maintained me and my families vehicles with expertise, honesty, and integrity. All these qualities are rare to find in an auto shop. This shop is not close to my residence and I m willing to take the drive to ensure I m getting the best service at a great price. I highly recommend German Auto Works for all your auto issues. They have serviced our BMW, Honda, and our Hyundai with no issues whatsoever. A++ rating.

The owner Dennis is not only one of the best but the only mechanic I trust to work on my BMW! He's been in the business now over 20yrs and he's honest. Although, he has a small sense of humor we are always laughing, just a great guy! He's a Goat!

Dennis is wonderful. I discovered German Auto Works on Google Maps a few years ago and have been taking my car to Dennis ever since. He is kind, honest, and very accommodating. I have recommended him to many friends and family.

Dennis and team have serviced our X5 and 2 Carerra's over the past 20 years. I have come to trust and appreciate their accuracy and transparency in analysis and repair recommendations. They do very good work. I have referred numerous family and friends to them and all have been satisifed.

Very satisfied with the service that I just received on my GLC 300 2017 from German Auto Works! I had the axle replaced on my GLC. The work was completed on time and price is reasonable. Dennis was very professional and easy to deal with. He did not try to sell me any service that I don't need . I'm highly recommending this shop. Thank you Dennis!Service: General repairs & maintenance

If I could give negative stars I would!!I took my bmw 535 and my brothers Mercedes c300 together. The bmw had an accident and needed the hood radiator and bumper replaced. The c300 was overheating due to radiator support being broken. Dennis wouldn t give a quote until I paid him $1000 to look at the bmw and it could go higher. 1000+ just to open the bumper and radiator to look! He had the car for a week and still didn t look at it and said to take it to the body shop adjacent because he didn t have time. He charged 150 for looking at the c300 and said he can t change the radiator a week later. I took our cars elsewhere and they re getting fixed for less than 2k each in 2 working days. When paying the 150 Mercedes bill, he only wants cash. I had an argument with him saying I don t have cash and you never mentioned it was only cash. He has one of those clover payment machine on his desk!! He became very unprofessional and just took a paper and wrote cash only and taped it to the glass and said we re only cash now. I had to get go cash. He s literally trying to rip off for every thing. Idk what his deal was but was very unprofessional, rude, and wasted our time and effort. Do not go to him!Services: Auto body & trim repair, Electrical repair, Auto water leak repair, Vehicle Inspection

Our window on the BMW 535I fell down. Apparently lost its tracking. Called Dennis at 8:30 in the morning and he explained it was probably the window motor or actuator. Took it up at 9 and was repaired by 5:30 that day. Fast, efficient, clean and prompt. I highly recommend German Auto Works for maintenance and repairs to your German or Bavarian cars. Two thumbs up, Dennis and your crew. Thanks, again!Service: Auto power window repair

I brought my Audi A4 here for brake service and was very happy with the price and how quickly I got the car back. A few weeks later my head gasket blew and they spent some time trying to diagnose and purchased some parts. But it didn't make sense to fix the vehicle.I am in a position now where I have to purchase a new car, but they did spend some hours working on the Audi A4 and of course the parts they ordered. Dennis (the owner) was super nice about it and we came to an agreement so that he could recoup some of the costs expended and I wasn't out too much for a vehicle that I was going to have to junk anyway.Just want to say, I think Dennis is a super fair mechanic and really worked with me on a tough situation. I definitely recommend German Auto Works and will bring my future vehicle here for service again.

I have been using German Autoworks for my BMW's(650i and M6 v10) for over 12 years. I came across them when I moved to DC from South Carolina. A Good mechanic is hard to find especially when you move to a new city. It is like finding a new Barber. I consider myself lucky to have found German Autoworks because they are a needle in a haystack. The service is excellent! The knowledge is excellent! Dennis, the owner, is excellent and the turnaround time is very fast! I cannot say enough about the fairness and value I receive when compared to the stealership and other so called 'German auto mechanics.' Their knowledge is truly a step above the rest when it comes to German Automotive. Try them and you will see why they have such a solid reputation. One of the reasons why I will not purchase another another make of vehicle is because I am afraid that I will not find another mechanic like Dennis. Although I feel that they could probably fix it too!Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Wheel alignment, Oil change

Had some tough issues with my X5 and needed a BMW expert. Dennis (owner) knew exactly what needed to be done and was able to get me in the next day. Dennis and his team did an amazing job and his pricing was very fair. I will recommend all my friends and family

I took my 3 series in to get a brake light fixed. Without having made an appointment they got everything done very quickly and for a great price. I'm very pleased with the service and I'll definitely be coming back in the future. Highly recommend!

I am very satisfied with the quality of the work, service and attention to detail I received at German Auto Works.I own a 2013 Porsche which required its 40k service. The total bill was less than half the cost of the dealer. The work was completed very quickly. My car was washed and detailed. In addition to the service, a small nail was removed and the tire patched (a problem I was unaware of). The car looks great and runs perfectly.Everyone was very nice and professional. I am very glad I took my Porsche to this shop!

This shop should have a 5 star rating. I have been brining my '09 Audi A4 Quattro here for the past 3 years. Dennis and his team are always honest, up front, and professional. Unlike the dealership, where you will pay 4x what Dennis and his team contract, you will be given options based on availability, safety, and reality. The prices for labor are 100% fair and competitive. (The dealership wanted to charge more than my car is technically worth for simple milage servicing....this was not the case at German Auto Works.)If you are going to be taking a long road trip, I suggest you stopped into the shop and ask Dennis to prime your vehicle for that voyage. He will ensure that you are aware of anything that may be unsafe or that could give you grief on the trip.Services: Electrical repair, Air & cabin filter replacement, Tires, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Brake service & repair, Oil change

Brought my 2014 Audi Q7 Diesel in for a glow plug issue. They fixed that issue plus they came across another issue that needed to be addressed. When I came in to get my vehicle, the mechanic that did the work showed me the old parts plus photos of what the worn out part looked like while it was still attached to my vehicle. Doesn't get any better than that, plus a very reasonable / fair charge for both repairs. I will use them again for sure.Services: Electrical repair, Engine repair

Dennis, the owner and resident expert in all things German automobiles, is a superstar. His pricing, service, and attention to detail are excellent. I m now a very satisfied, loyal customer and I will bring my Mini Cooper to German Auto Works for regular service and nowhere else. You don t find auto mechanics quite like this...especially for expensive foreign cars!

Dennis is a rock star! He knows BMW cars and is able to work with the older models. I'm extremely happy with his professionalism and his knowledge of cars. Was able to work on my '86 745i BMW door locks after another mechanic couldn't even put parts back together. Best mechanic for BMW cars in the DMV area!!! Highly recommend!

Do not take your classic Porsche to this shop. On the recommendation from a work colleague, I was told Dennis knew 928s, he does not at least not well. I waited literally months for him to complete the work to my 86.5 928. (Recently acquired so needed a complete review and preventative maintenance done eg, timing belt, water pump, fluids, auto detail etc), I had to call him countless times to follow up on parts, I even sourced one of the parts for him (timing belt tensioner) and negotiated discussions between him and the 928 parts specialists because he was unfamiliar with the parts. Worse, after the work was done, it wasn t complete and I wasn t given all the paperwork that detailed the repairs that were supposed to be completed. My car was supposed to be detailed but it wasn t yet, I was charged anyway. The oil didn t look changed yet, at pickup, Dennis assured me it was done. The paperwork wasn t complete, but after waiting months, I was frustrated so I just paid my bill and left (over $7500 which would have been reasonable if I knew the work was actually completed). Unsatisfied after paying what I did, and bc I forgot to pick up my old parts (what Dennis promised but forgot at my initial pickup) I called Dennis 2x and he finally agreed to give me complete paperwork detailing my repairs. This is critical for classic cars, you have to have the maintenance history. When I went back to get additional paperwork, Dennis then told me he couldn t remember if my oil was changed or if my rear differential was serviced, apparently it may have been mixed up with another car. I was shocked. How was this possible? If that wasn t done, what else wasn t? Who knows? Dennis did apologize and said he would call me and set up an appointment to get it this work done in a week or so. He also said he would look at my AC which he she supposedly repaired but never actually blew cold. True to form, he never did follow up on his promise. It s been several months and not even a phone call. Dennis seems like a nice guy, but he is absolutely terrible with classic cars, he is not responsive, his work is questionable and his paperwork is absolutely horrendous. Do not take your classic Porsche to him. I am now having my car looked over by a second mechanic bc if you know anything about 928s they need mechanics who know these cars. I wish he had just been honest from the start. Don t make the same mistake I did!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Engine repair, Wheel alignment, Brakes, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning, Brake service & repair, Car waxing, Oil change

Our BMW X5 went in with oil leak, almost 2 weeks later after our inquiries they told us to come and pick it up. Couldn t drive more then couple of miles and many lights on dashboard went on and car started to make crazy noise. Went back slowly, they promised to look into and now week later again they asked to come and pick it up. They said it drives fine, we were laughing that can we drive to NY with it, they said no problem. Went there to pick it up, car doesn t have any power when trying to push Excelerator, everything on dashboard has been erased. Can t go anywhere with it. Asked for diagnostics for when we brought the car in and now, they didn t give us, telling they don t have it. Left the car there and really don t know what to do anymore. I don t trust them at all, car is no drivable condition now, taking to there, it was totally drivable. It s not acceptable and looking for reasonable advice maybe even legal.

I have been using German Auto Works for some years now and have had excellent and honest service. We keep our cars for generally 10 plus years and Dennis and his team have done wonders to keep our cars well maintained and running safely.

Brought my 87 Porsche there due to some rattling in the front of the engine. They said that I needed to replace the timing belt and water pump. and wanted to charge me $2,000 to fix. I asked how it looked when they pulled off the cover of the engine and was told they never looked at it... I declined service. I next brought my Audi a4 there for reseting an A/C cluster, new tire, air bag light and brake light. I mentioned that I had already replaced the cluster and just needed it reset. It took them two weeks to look at it, they did not listen to me when I dropped it off and never did what I asked. They then said that it was going to be very expensive to fix the problems that they saw and asked if I had insurance... and mentioned that they would need to bring the car to other places to have the work completed. I had a friend fix it for free and it took him about twenty minutes. I would advise you to get a second opinion if you go to this place.

I recently had my 2006 BMW M5 towed there after getting the red cog of death. The dealer wanted $3k to change the smg pump and it was out of stock for 3+ weeks. Dennis was able to source and install a new smg pump at a fraction of the cost. Dealers often use scare tactics that small shops cant handle the electronics. Don't believe the hype. Highly recommended. Great honest guys.

Dennis and his team did great work on my Cayman S. Came in at half the cost of dealer estimates. Took a practical approach to a repair that didn't break the bank.

Great place to get your German car serviced. Dennis and Dave run this place and they have many loyal customers. They stand by their work. I once had to come back because the repair didn't stick, and they fixed it, no charge and no attitude. They do bmw, porsche, audi, vw and I even saw a Toyota here once. If you need body shop or upholster work, they can also refer you to a shop that can do the work.

I Took my car in and feel blindsided and ripped off. The warning light still comes on but was told that I need a timing belt and water pump. This must be the female experience as have noticed by the other reviews. I will be getting a second opinion to ensure my car was even touched. Cost $1800.00. Do not go here!
