My family has been going to Charles Automotive since the 1970s. From Charles in the early days to Pat now, this is where you want to take your car if you need help, work or advice. They tell you exactly what your car requires, how long it will take and how much it will cost. The shop is incredibly clean and the people who work there are very friendly. And very good thanks, Caleb, for your recent help! If your car needs work, look no further this is the place to go!

Gary and his team (especially Pat) are wonderful! They ve been working on my family s cars for over 15 years. We never go to the dealer. They re timely, thorough, honest and their pricing can t be beat! It s a great place to take your car for service. I highly recommend Charles Automotive!

DO NOT take your car to any other mechanic. Period. End of story. There's a reason this place has the rating that it does. I brought in my Subaru, which had just gone over its warranty by 500 miles, for what turned out to be a known issue with my particular model that Subaru refuses to do a recall on (anyone who owns a 2019-2021 Forester, take a look into the coolant bypass valve/thermal control valve, there's numerous cases of them failing suddenly which results in a check engine light, disabling the safety features, and causing potential engine temperature issues).It took 3 days to fix, but it was done right and the communication from the shop was excellent. Part of that reason it took so long was because they took the time to notice that Subaru sent the wrong part, but again Charles made sure it was rectified. It was an expensive fix ($1600) and they were sympathetic, but it would've been a lot worse if I had gone to Fitzgerald Subaru right down the block. Plus, they gave me a free loaner car for the extra days so I could get to work. They also did a full inspection to make sure there were no more issues, and they didn't force me into agreeing to things that weren't critical. I wish all repair shops operated like this one.

I ve been using Charles for years, and they always give me great service and advice. They do the work really well and in a reasonable amount of time. They keep me informed, and they don t do unnecessary work. Both of my daughters also use them for their cars, and we re all happy with them.

Found a nail in wheel this morning. Asked neighbors for a recommendation and was told Charles. Came to the shop without an appointment and Pat, service manager, who was so friendly and professional took care of me and got my tire repaired under 30 min. Highly recommend this shop and will be coming back for sure for future services. David W

Charles Automotive earns their rave reviews: First I got an oil change and checkup, then major work done. Their friendly fast ( but not too fast, it was thorough) service is a treasure. Recommended to nice people who need work on their vehicles. When I wanted a new repair place, I found them via the other rave reviews on Google.

A nail got in a rear tire of my car, fortunately I found Charles Automotive & Tire on Google, they repaired my tire very quickly. I am so appreciative of their great help. Janet is so nice and caring, people work there are very friendly and professional. The place is quite and clean, with free Wi-Fi access. I will definitely recommend Charles Automotive & Tire to all my friends!

I can't recommend charles automotive enough. They are thorough and honest and always get things done in a timely fashion. Everything is clear and explained to you and everyone on the team is great, especially Pat. I can always trust my vehicle is in good hands here.

I needed to get my tire repaired on short notice. I called first thing in the morning and they were able to get me in the shop within an hour.The shop is clean and there is a nice and clean waiting room for customers to wait.The work on my tire took less than 15 minutes. They charged me a very reasonable price for the repair and I was on my way.Everyone I interacted with, either via the phone or in person, was very friendly and super helpful.I will definitely be going back.

I have only serviced my car at the Subaru dealer but couldn't get a same-day appointment when my tire was nearly flat. I called around and found Charles Automotive. Although they were booked, they still let me bring my car in THAT DAY, diagnosed the problem, ordered a new tire, and put it on the next day. I also had them do my oil change while they were at it. Staff was incredibly polite, responsive, friendly and honest. I went back a 2nd time for an oil change and to prepare for a road trip and again was so pleased with the outstanding customer service. My only complaint is with myself - why didn't I find them sooner!!??

What a shop. I can't remember the last time that I brought my car to an auto repair shop and while I was standing there trying to make rental car arrangements, my vehicle was brought into the bay and it was already up and being inspected by one of the staff. Pat, front desk is professional and knowledgeable. The turnaround time was outstanding even after i approved other much needed repairs which were completed very quickly as well. Thanking NextDoor participants for having posted online otherwise I would not have been there!

Last week I discovered a large bolt sticking out of my read tire, luckily it was holding air. Just by chance I called Charlie s and spoke with Pat who scheduled me for a tire patch. Upon arrival I was greeted by what could only describe as probably one of the cleanest automotive service shop I ve ever been in. After about 30 minutes Pat joined me in their comfortable waiting room to let me know that my car had been repaired, and I was ready to go. Thanks Pat,

This is my second time visiting Charles Automotive for the same tire issue and again, they were able to provide expedient and reliable service. I had a puncture on my tire and they fixed in less than 15 mins. An employee also took time to explain to me the conditions of my tire and that I should start planning to change my tires. They gave me an estimate but didn t pressure me and rather educated me. I will definitely be using them again!

Charles Automotive went to battle for me yesterday and proved yet again why I would never take my car to anyone else. My Prius starter battery died while parked in my apartment building garage and had to be towed to Charles Wednesday night. Thursday morning, Patrick called to tell me the battery was likely defective. I had purchased it out of state at a Toyota dealer just this past July before I moved back here. Since it was a Toyota battery under warranty, Patrick contacted the local Toyota dealer to ask them to honor the warranty and they refused. After several hours of his persistence and persuasiveness, the dealer finally agreed and installed the new battery at no charge and one of Patrick's amazing team then drove it to my nearby building. There can be no doubt that Charles Automotive cares not only about providing top grade service for the cars we bring in but also goes above and beyond to care about the people they serve. They demonstrate over and over why they deserve their 5 star ratings!

Much better than the Toyota Dealership for repairs. Fair pricing, wonderful and kind people, excellent customer service. They never push non-essential repairs like those other guys, and have great communication. Work is done on time, always right the first time. We would never take our cars anywhere else in the Metro DC-VA-MD area. They wanted me to wait to get a tire plugged. I have an actual safety issue. I'm on my way to an appointment, what is it I'm not explaining to you.Drove 5 mins to the next auto & tire repair shop, Quick Tires, LLC, as soon as I asked about the tire repair, she took my info, asked for my keys and in 2 minutes I was on the rack. 30 minutes later I was out the door. This shop was verybusy also. I had two paying clients ahead of me. I paid her my fee and she said I didn't have to wait and she would text me my receipt. Service quick and with a smile.

You make an impression when you offer exceptional customer service with unexpected customer delight. I had an unexpected leak before work this morning and called up Charles. They were so kind in recognizing my time constraints and quickly focused addressing my issue. And then, they didn t even charge me for the patch!!! This would have never happened at any regular chain tire shops.Thanks Charles Auto! You ve created a sunny spot in my otherwise dreary rainy day.

Randomly came to Charles Automotive after finding a screw in my tire. They took my car right in, even though they had a full garage of cars being worked on. Fixed it super quick. Set me up in their waiting room and were all very friendly. I went to pay my bill and they waved me off and said it was not a big deal to plug it for me.I think I found myself a new place to take our cars! Definitely give them a try!!Service: Tires

Great experience and great service. I had a nail stuck to one of my tires and went in for a fix. They were able to schedule me on the same day and Pat was very helpful with several questions I had. My tire was completely deflated before I was able to get to the shop and I appreciated them being on the phone and trying to help me out with my situation. They fixed my tires quickly- within 30 minutes. They will definitely be my first choice for future auto repair needs and check and would 100% recommend them to others as well.Service: Tires

Charles Automotive is conveniently located and expertly ran. Both Pat & Gary were incredibly communicative alongside with fair pricing. Work was done in a timely manner with a comprehensive and viewable inspection texted straight to your phone. Mechanics recommendations along with associated parts & labor costs are also texted straight to your phone. I was in town for a conference and came out to a flat tire. AAA was able to switch me to my spare and referred me to Google to find someone to repair the tire. The first place that came up was Charles Auto. I called and a very nice gentleman helped me. He was able to get me an apt same day. Knowing I d be able to not miss the whole day of my conference and get my tire fixed, drastically lessened my stress and anxiety. The price was just right too. Amazing staff and amazing service. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The service is quick and quality.I recently went in for a tire repair and they were able to fit me in within 24hrs. They also focus on getting the job done rather than up-selling you on additional services you may not need. I went to Charles Automotive & Tire for the first time today. I had a drop-off appointment scheduled for earlier in the morning, but my circumstances changed. I had to wait while the service was performed. They were able to change my appointment time so I would not have to wait for too long. I was in and out within an hour! The place was clean, and everyone was very friendly. They even went over some things they noticed with my car and shared an estimate to address the issues. I really appreciated that they did not pressure me to do any recommended services same day. As a person with very little knowledge about cars, I sometimes get worried about going to Auto Shops because you never know if you can fully trust the person making the recommendations. I certainly do not feel this way about Charles Automotive & Tire. I will 100% go back here and recommend it to others!Service: Tires

I went to Charles Automotive & Tire for the first time and had an exceptional experience, and can t say enough good things about them. I came in for an AC system evacuation and recharge, but what I thought would be a straightforward procedure turned out to be more complicated due to an unexpected issue with the freon type and system. However, Pat and the team at Charles Automotive went above and beyond to complete the service and ensure my satisfaction. Pat, the front desk rep, was extremely friendly and helpful and fun to talk to.I needed to get my AC system running as soon as possible, as this was the car that I was taking to college, and I even had an orientation the following day. Pat assured me that my AC system would be blowing cold in no time - and at a very reasonable price and time frame! However, during the service, they discovered that the freon specified on my hood label did not match the actual freon required by my system. This meant not only a higher cost, as the correct freon was significantly more expensive, but a longer wait because a replacement part had contaminated the system with the wrong freon. Despite these challenges, Pat was extremely understanding of my situation and genuinely wanted to ensure that this unexpected situation wouldn't cause undue stress. Furthermore, despite the increased expense, he made every effort to keep the cost within the price range we had discussed earlier, and I was immensely relieved and grateful for his understanding and willingness to accommodate my limited budget.To my surprise, the team completed the job even faster than expected, and my AC was blowing cold air again. While waiting, I enjoyed a clean and welcoming waiting room (with AC, water bottles, Wifi, and comfortable chairs,) which added to the overall positive experience. Moreover, I had an engaging conversation with Pat at the register, who shared my passion for cars. We exchanged stories, discussed about our project cars, talked about video games, and even chatted about my future plans in school. It felt more like talking to a knowledgeable friend rather than a transactional interaction.I left Charles Automotive & Tire feeling not only satisfied with the quality of their work but also appreciative of their exceptional customer service. Their dedication, honesty, and genuine care for their customers truly set them apart. In the future, I won't hesitate to bring all my cars to this shop for any issues beyond my abilities, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone in need of reliable and trustworthy service.

I woke up with a nail in my tire on a Monday morning. I called Charles Automotive & Tire right when they opened at 8am and Pat told me I could bring my car right in. They were extremely nice and helpful. They had me out of there with my tire patched in 15 minutes! I was driving from Virginia to my mom's house in Rockville when I picked up a nail on 495. I was able to get the spare on but was looking for a local business that could fix my flat while I took my mom to lunch. I called Charles Automotive and Tire and they were able to get me in right away. Pat and the team were friendly and professional, and they fixed my tire quickly and efficiently. I was on my way in no time and I was able to enjoy my lunch with my mom without any worries. I would definitely recommend Charles Automotive and Tire to anyone in the Rockville area. Pat also gave me some great recommendations for cars when I'm ready for a new one. I really appreciate his help and I'm glad I found such a great auto repair shop.
