Michael Coale was raised in a gas station. He has worked hard and honest his whole life. I don't think there's any other shop I would trust more. Great communication, timely service, and all around AWESOME!!!

9/2023 UPDATE: Got ripped off by them. They made me pay a $130 diagnostic fee to get my keys back, despite the fact they didn't actually do a diagnostic. The guy turned my key and said "the battery needs to be changed". Despite the fact the battery turned over. How's that worth a diagnostic fee? I told them plug in their reader and do a diagnostic, not literally look at the car with just their eyes for 2 minutes and charge me $130.Great quality and a very fair price. They beat the dealership's quote by more that 50% and they took the diagnostic charge out of the final payment making the diagnosis free since I also did the work with them. The nature of the repair was electrical.Update:Two months after the above review I had a (non-related) emergency. Coale's Automotive was able to squeeze me in same day on a week when they were fully booked. I was prepared and planning on them having the car for up to a week and they made sure to go ahead and do it same day. I offered to pay a same day charge which they told me not to worry about and the price was more than fair for the work. The owner and staff are not only amazing mechanics, but great!

I called right before Christmas to schedule a MD inspection and wheel alignment and Tim White fit me in with an appointment quickly, especially given the holidays. The shop seemed very upfront and honest and finished the work much faster than expected. I recently bought a used car and had a terrible experience. The clutch gave out within a few days of taking it home. The dealership said they would cover about 3/4 of the repair but made it very difficult getting the money from them. It took more than two weeks for them to send the check. Meanwhile, Coale's fixed my car to 100% and didn't charge me extra to keep my car on the lot while we waited for payment. They were completely understanding of my situation and couldn't have been more accommodating. Dealing with Coale's Auto has been the best customer service experience I've ever had. I know it's difficult to find a great, honest mechanic and I am glad that I have. I'll be taking my car here for all future issues.Edit: (2019 Update)I returned recently with another major car issue and Mike completely helped me out in a stressful time. I've saved their phone number and address in my phone because I know this is where I'll be taking my cars. Many mechanics can be scummy. This place is the complete opposite of that. Take your vehicles here, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Excellent Work! So glad Coales moved into my neighborhood! Mike performed the inspection on my new 2003 BMW and for under $100!!! He also pointed out some additional things for me to consider without the high pressure sales. They also replaced my rotors at a very reasonable price. I had checked the price of the parts first so when they showed me their estimate I knew it was a great price. And they stuck to the estimate completely (unlike another neighborhood garage) and I'm very happy with Brandon's work on my brakes. So I now have my new wheels on the road with shiny new rotors, and am a very happy neighbor! And that's a great bonus - with them only 1 mile away, that's walking/running/riding distance so I don't need to find other transportation when I need to drop it off. Although they were willing to work with me and help out with that if I needed it. It was sunny so I did the walk. Overall my experience with them has been excellent and I will continue to do business with them in the future.

I started going to Coale's back when they were at their old location in Odenton. Michael's shop was recommended as an honest and diligent crew, and they lived up to their reputation.Starting out, I needed an inspection because I was selling my car and was planning to buy a new one. Michael walked me through the inspection points (the car passed) but also pointed out a few things that I could choose to disclose to the buyer (I did) for their future safety and peace of mind.I pull primary maintenance on my own cars, so my new car only came into the shop a few times when I didn't have time for oil changes/tire replacements. Years later, Michael remembered me and was great with service.Fast forward years later, and that same car had started making mysterious noises. I had recently replaced the brake rotors and tires, and foolishly forgot to tighten down some caliper bolts. Michael still (!) remembered me, and gave me an honest understanding of what I'd done well and what I'd done poorly, and the cost to fix. I was so thrilled with the service and honesty that I even brought my other car in for an oil change and tire rotation.Altogether the team at Coale's has been very friendly, accommodating, and professional. I can't speak highly enough of Michael and will continue to use his team moving forward for anything I can't (or won't) do for myself!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Came in for a simple tire fix. My tire was spewing air as I pulled up. My tire was completely flat at wawa... so I Google this place after discovering fix a flat doesn't fix 17 in tires.... so I pulled in and they got me fixed and going about my way in no time.They were prompt and quick. I will visit this hidden gem again for repairs for sure! Thanks Justin we thank you for your shop for sure!

They take care of the cars for my entire family (5 in total), and always do great work. The entire staff is extremely polite and knowledgeable. Never had an issue with the work done on my cars and they are always honest about whether or not work actually needs to be done. I will never take my car anywhere else to be fixed if I have the option.

I've been to Coale's for 2 state inspections and 1 oil change/tire rotation. Everyone is very friendly. Their prices are relative to other local places. I've never had any issues here; I get the service I expect in the time I expect. For both inspections, my car had been just previously inspected (out of state purchases) and Coale's also found no issues, as expected. I would recommend checking out Mike's shop.

It's difficult to find an honest, hard working person these days, and even more difficult to find that in a mechanic. Well you will find that at Coale's. Excellent service, everyone is friendly, and they give the fairest prices I've ever seen. Make an appointment with them next time your car needs something, you will thank yourself later.

My 1997 Cutlass needed a transmission flush so my brother recommended Coale's. My brother is a part-time race car driver (dragsters) so he knows what he is talking about. Of course, I decided to go to Coale's. What a pleasant experience, not only were they professional and courteous right from the start, my car was completed exactly when they said it would be at a super fair price. Being female, I have experienced alot of mechanics that try to oversell me, this did not happen at Coale's. I so appreciated that. Their automotive knowledge and down to Earth demeanor is unsurpassed. This place is like a breath of fresh air. Imagine, an honest mechanic giving you an honest price for services in this day and age!

Coale s Automotive is a stand-up shop. No haggle pricing. Very straight forward and honest. I highly recommend this shop as someone who does not trust easily. Got my inspection done and was in and out quickly. Do not hesitate.

I hit a big rock that was in the middle of the highway on my way to work. I reached my destination and sure enough my tire was losing air pressure. I looked for the closest place to get my tire patched. I went to Coale's and they had me fixed up in 20 minutes. The guys were very polite and knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions. Since it was my first time there and it didn't take very long, they gave the service to me for free. I would definitely go back!

Fair prices and honest! That s hard to come by these days. I had a sensor replaced on my Escalade that the dealer wanted to charge way to much to replace. Coales beat out the dealer in price and customer service. Pleasant experience overall. Went in for a Maryland State Inspection and it was done in around an hour. I heard average prices range from $60-80, but this one was $89. Not an issue for me since my vehicle passed all checks without issues. I've heard horror stories of cheaper places making up stuff to repair. I would recommend this place to a friend, but I think they'll be moving locations soon. Their new place might be too far for me to return to.

I called these guys up last night to see if I could come in for an inspection since they were only going to be open for half a day. The guy said he would fit me in no matter what. I arrived at 920 and was greeted warmly by everyone. Since I drive four hours to get here (I was coming up from NYC) they got working on my car immediately. Of note, they also had the lowest price of the places I called and were able to get me in on a Saturday. Lastly, this is the only time I've brought my car for an inspection without being failed for some b.s. Reason. So that tells me these guys are honest.

I recently met Mike Coale and his team of professionals. I liked the history of the business so I decided to use them when my Honda Pilot's air conditioner stopped working. They fixed the problem at a good rate. I'm happy to have a good mechanic close to home.

Absolutely WAY overpriced and out of their minds. Came to this mechanic on the recommendation of a friend. The battery that operates the driver's side window on my car went out and needed to be replaced.In order to even get that diagnostic, it cost $98.00. That is ninety-eight dollars and zero cents in case you thought that was a typo. That's right, the estimate was not free for them to just tell me what was wrong with the car.They did NOT tell me the cost of said estimate up front when the car was initially dropped off. I didn't find out about this cost until we went to pick the car up. After they explained what was wrong with it, they stated that there was a "HOLD" on my car until the $98 was paid. I couldn't believe it.They did not even work on my car because the part was back-ordered. In addition to this outrageous price, they also explained that before the work was even going to be done on the car, half of the money had to be paid up front.Needless to say, we are never coming here again and I would NOT recommend them. We're out almost $100 and no work was even done on the vehicle. Go elsewhere if you value your hard-earned money.

Needed a last minute inspection done due to out of state vehicle purchase and Mike (owner) was very friendly and accommodating. He took the car same day as requested and turn it around extremely fast.Will definitely recommend to family & friends alike.
