I stumbled on Ken's Service Center under the least desirable circumstances -- a breakdown along Rt 295 in a relatively unconventional, almost vintage car (1992 Corvette). I live in Baltimore and commute to Ft Meade, so was unfamiliar with the service centers in the area; I had my tow driver take it to the nearest shop (Ken's) and I'd sort it out the next day. With great fortune, I found a service advisor (Kelly) who listened to my concerns and a technician (Kenny) who took the time necessary to correctly diagnose my issue and keep me informed all along the way. I was so pleased with the level of attention I received that I decided it would be a good time, while the car was in the shop, to have my four tires replaced. Kenny recommended an affordable yet fully appropriate option that I am exceedingly pleased with. Can't say enough good things about Kenny, Kelly, and Ken's.

I went in to have a tire pressure censor replaced. They did it quickly, successfully, and with communication and respect.I highly recommend them.

Kelly was amazing! We were in Maryland for a work meeting and our vehicle was acting up the drive up and he got us in and fixed it the same day!! Super clean and friendly place! Definitely recommend them!

1st of all I would like to thank the friendly staff at Ken's for their assistance with a non-business emergency. My son was involved in a near tragic incident with his motorcycle, rendering it immovable. I did not have any tools on me to fix the problem and would have had to drive 60 miles round trip to retrieve them from home. On a whim, I stopped in their service center and asked to borrow a specific socket and ratchet. I explained my situation and the service manager went into the garage and returned with the item I requested. This may seem like nothing. However to my son and I, this act of kindness is immeasurable and reflects the character of the staff at Ken's. Thank you again!

Bought 1 $600 tire (special order) from these guys and I was pleased with the service and therefore recommended my wife for a brake replacement. However, I guess as they saw that she was by herself, they attempted to upsell her for a what it was initially only a brake replacement to rotor/tire replacement up to $1800. Therefore, upon calling to decline recommendations and only have the brakes replaced, they insisted that it was not an option. Consequently, all services were declined and instructed them to stop any type of service. However, upon car pick up, my wife was being charged for a $75 brake inspection (not disclosed) and decided to give them a call and spoke with Mike who then transferred the call to the manager (Kenny), who I must admit that at least waived the fee and was professional (sort of) until the end of the conversation. Mike however, was very rude to my wife and even told her to not bring our vehicles to the shop as they would not work on them as she was walking out of the building. My wife was very upset due to this very unprofessional attitude and best believe that we will not be back. As a veteran, I thought this was a good place to go, but apparently some of the employees need additional customer service training. Truly disappointed at the work ethic carried out at this place.

Trust a mechanic? How many can say that is a true statement? Well at Ken's you can, we have been going to them for over 20 years and they can be trusted. Now I will say they are a bit higher, but the saying is" You get what you pay for". So, if you want great service and trustworthiness, then I say you have to go to Ken's

Went for an oil change. When I got home oil was leaking out of the drain plug (which was only half screwed in) and after I took it to the local shop. The oil filter looked like it had not been changed and was over tightened.See PicturesSince my original post I am have received a refund and a sincere apology.

You guys seemed pretty cool until I realized you were hustling my Grandfather for money claiming to be working on his AC that was blowing warm. Your techs claimed on paper to even have dyed to test for leaks because you couldn t figure out what the issue was immediately. Over time, many visits and payments for your service later I got a second opinion elsewhere. They stated there was no evidence anyone tried or dyed for leaks. They fixed it the first time. Thank you for your dishonesty you can keep the money.I m talking years, every summer he had to sweat because he was an easy customer.

I got 4 new tires put on. Great people to deal with. Work done professionally and in a reasonable amount of time. Price was good too. I've used them several times in the past and will continue to use them for my automotive needs.

I've been going to Ken's for about 3 years now and I have never had a bad experience. Their customer service is always professional. They've done a few different repairs from standard mechanical upkeep to replacing a broken car door handle. They do check for additional work that may be needed, but do a great job of explaining why it needs done and whether it can wait. Recommended for anyone who wants mechanics they can trust.

Used to be great. Haven't been back since I was quoted an absurd price for tires some years ago with a nasty attitude to boot. A word to management- Be appreciative of people that come to you for years and treat them fairly. Word of mouth travels far and instead making a quick buck off of someone, reel them and their business in for the long haul. Loyalty pays more in the long run, I guarantee. Anyone proficient in customer service and hospitality will tell you similar. You are not entitled to anyone's business or the money they spend at your establishment. For a place I used to bring my first car to solely, you seemed to forget how to prioritize your customers somewhere over the years. And seemingly many of your employees as well. I'd say get your act together and perhaps we might return but our current family mechanic is here to stay.

I pulled up at 8ish am yesterday (3 Aug 19), and was immediately greeted by Mel upon entering. Gave him the information of my car and what needed to be done (just an oil change and tire rotation). He quickly handed me paperwork for the service, which I filled out. About 30 minutes after dropping it off Mel called me to let me know that they had begun working on my car, and that the connections on my battery were showing signs of heavy corrosion, and that (if I wanted) they could clean that off for me. I said yes, he said alrighty, and that he would call me upon completion. Another 30 - 45 minutes later they called and said my car was available for pickup. Great place, great service, would recommend.

Ken's has helped me out multiple times over the years, I really like this shop and the attention they pay to not only the customer's concern(s) but the customer themselves. After a competing GY shop couldn't get my new GY tires balanced to my satisfaction, Ken's was able to resolve the problem by force-balancing them (other shop only does conventional). The difference is astonishing, and it's a service I recommend for every vehicle, worth the $$. My reason for posting a review, though, is that I recently ran into steering problems with a 2016 Mazda CX-5, and the folks at Ken's did an extremely extensive check-out for me. What impressed me the most was the detailed conversation they took the time to have with me, I think we were on the phone for 20 minutes! I truly appreciate technicians/mechanics that are willing to take this time out of their day to discuss what they did or didn't find and what the options forward may be. This is pretty rare in my experience. They even hand-tweaked the alignment based on my feedback, who does this in 2020? Nobody! While I ultimately had to replace that vehicle as the problem turned out to be systemic to the model and was "completely uncorrectable" (per Mazda USA), I am very much looking forward to bringing the new one over to Ken's for a proper wheel balancing and alignment. New cars are nice, but I assure you they won't ride right until the folks over at Ken's is given an opportunity to correct what the factory got wrong :)

Took care of my Father's 2004, C320. They are fast and friendly. He needed to have a coolant reservoir added to that old Mercedes, and they took care of it the next day. The cost was reasonable. I'm very proud that they took care of my Dad. I would go there again and again.

I usually have factory or extended warranties on my vehicles so I use Ken's for work outside of those coverages. They are great with tire purchases and installs, wheel alignments, and brakes. They also do nitrogen in your tires if that's your preference. I take all my vehicles here for these services.

I am so pleased with the whole process I experienced while having a 100,000 mile service visit on my Highlander. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and the customer area was very clean. I have recommended Ken's to my family and friends.

I ordered tires online at Goodyear and also scheduled installation online. On the day/time for installation, Ken's was ready for me and did a prompt, no-fuss installation. The shop is clean and there is a small but comfortable waiting area with TV and Kuerig coffee. I'm going to give them a try for my routine oil service next.

I came to get an oil change, and was told that my drain plug was stripped by the last person that changed the oil. After looking into the transactions, I realized that the last place I got my oil change was at Ken's Service Center. They refused to believe that they were the last ones to do the oil change even though the transaction receipt showed that the last oil change was done 4 months ago, which was completely reasonable. I was told that they can try to get it off, but if it damaged the oil pan, it would cost about $400 to replace. How does a mechanic shop mess up an oil change and not admit to their mistake. Furthermore, how is it fair to the customer to have to pay to fix an issue that the mechanic created. Will never go to Kens Service Center again.

I took my car to get the tires balanced. I dropped off my car before 9:30a as instructed. After waiting for it all day i finally got a call at 4:30p telling me that i nee new tires and to bring it back another day. I wasted my whole day when they could have told me that earlier and have it fixed the same day. I told them i could not wait anymore and they charged me $61 for checking the car. I will never come back to that place again

Got new tires, brakes and an oil change. Service was good, staff was friendly, they gave me a ride to where I needed to be that day and charged me about what I expected for the work. Overall good experience. I'll likely be back for more vehicle maintenance/repair work in the future.

I went in to get my car's tires balanced. There were 2 guys behind the counter with a huge attitude from the time they laid eyes on me. They made no more eye contact and did not greet me. I stood there for a while and said hello a couple of times before I got a response. I asked for the service and the the other guy said "60 bucks". I wasn't even asking for the price. Thank God my experience ended with them right there. Having had experience with people like this in the past, I would never leave my car to these people.

Walked in around 8am on a Saturday morning knowing that I most likely need to replace my tires which are over 5+ years and over 50k miles. They took an honest look at patching the one tire anyways, and we determined it couldn't be patched due to dry-rot from living at the beach and sitting in the sun for years. So we came up with a new plan to replace all 4 tires. Got an incredible deal and discount for getting a set of 4 tires, then got a rebate which was doubled for using their credit which came with 6 months interest free financing. I got 4 80k Goodyear asurance comfort-tread touring tires installed for $605 out the door with $180 in rebates coming back and this includes free lifetime rotation every 6k miles, free lifetime balance and a 3 year warranty with free replacement for tires damaged from road hazards for the first year, 50% replace value the 2nd year and 25% the third. They got me in and out in under 3 hours with a full house and at least a dozen other appointments that day. I will be coming back for my regular rotations and balance and recommending these guys to anyone who needs tires!

This place is a scam center to say the least. I left my car for a quote, and made sure to leave a note explaining what was wrong with it. Also, asked them to not do any work without calling me, and that I just wanted a quote. The guy calls me telling me that it will be $450 for the parts and 2 hours of labor; which they charge an outrageous $110 an hour for. So that's $670...to replace a cooling fan motor. When I tell them that's ok, I'll take it else where, all of the sudden there is a $100 diagnostic fee I have to pay. Get this, on my note I told them that I knew it was the fan and just wanted to get a quote for it. No need to diagnose an issue that is already known. When I get there to pick up my car, all of the sudden that $100 diagnose charge shrinks down to 55, "because we didn't spend THAT much time on figuring out what was wrong" what a rip off. Just got a quote from another mechanic, $244 including EVERYTHING. So I ended up paying them $55 to read my note to figure out what was wrong with my vehicle and make a quote. Never again. What a joke.

I recently took my car into Ken's for a state inspection. I bought the car in NY 45 days ago from a trusted dealer.Ken's told me that my rotors were worn to the point of failing my inspection and also recommended that I get new front breaks (breaks were half worn down - HALF).I took my car to another garage at the suggestion of my trusted mechanic and i passed with no issues. While in the middle of this process, I remembered I took my old car to Ken's to get the breaks looked at. Same results. You need new breaks. Second opinion. All good.If this happened once, I would not be bothered. Maybe an honest mistake. Maybe my other mechanic cut a corner. I am not sure. BUT TWICE, CMON.I hate doing this to a local business but do not make the same mistake i made (twice, yes im an idiot).Do not go to Ken's unless you want to ripped off. (Yes, I had to pay for the failed inspection, as well as the successful one).

Took my truck in for a new radiator. Staff was friendly and price was fare. Work was done next day. There was no undue pressure to pay for work I didn't need. Good experience all around.

I recently moved to MD and went to Ken's for my state inspection. They charge more than normal ($84 + $19 for tint check) but I thought it would be worth it from the reviews I read on here. They gave me a ride back to my nearby apartment so I didn't have to wait, which was nice of them.Upon inspection they told me that I needed to replace my 3rd brake light (the center thin horizontal one) because some of the bulbs didn't work (quote $400), plus I had to replace my window tint because it was too dark. For the brake light, it turns out they're not knowledgeable about my car (a Scion tC). Their mechanic didn't know that the tC's 3rd brake light bulbs don't span the entire cover ... so I had to spend my day driving to Toyota to find a real mechanic to prove it to them. Thanks for making me do your job for you.For the tint, I went to 2 other shops that verified my tint is NOT too dark. It turns out that Ken's tint meter is of a type that reads darker than others. So I took my car to get inspected at the other shop and had no problems. (I won't name the other shop since this is a review not an ad).Moral of the story: If your car has tint, DON'T go here for your inspection. The employees don't seem dishonest or anything (and are in fact friendly), but you'll save time & money if your tint is near the legal MD 35% limit.I also got an oil change, which went just fine, so no problems there.
