I called Ken for an engine rebuild project I'm working on. Unfortunately he was very busy with other projects. However he took the time over the phone to give me advice on several options to go about doing my project. I haven't had the opportunity to get work done by him yet. But, I wanted to give my review based on the level of professionalism and courtesy. I hope to one day do business there. Thanks Ken!

Ken,Shoutout to your YouTube channel!!!Your special on lifter failures was spot on and I m glad someone reputable had the nerve to call a spade a spade. I ve been building engines and working in auto machine for 25+ years not counting my solo hobbyists years. As you stated we used to install cams with new lifters (different dyno/stand engine power (hp/tq) combos to see what the newest hydraulic flat tappets would do or install directly in cars) and not flinch. Heck we never worried about breaking in the first 20 mins at least not in the 90. Break In back then was take it east for a few hundred miles and change the oil 1-2 times before 500 miles. KISS Good assembly lube, good quality oil no zinc worries even until the early 2000s but especially the 80s and 90s pre primed, if adjustable rockers watch your clearances and watch it rock n roll on the stand or in the car. Sad that we now have to cringe every time we start an engine and do what you mentioned like lighter springs, zinc oil and zinc additive, watch adjustments and let her get get oil splash to cam for 20 mins at 1800-2200 rpm s and still have mediocre black Jack 52/48 odds with us on the 48 side. Also not to forget those odds with the above mentioned protocol break-in protocol. Doing it like we did 25-30 years would prob be 10-20% success especially with a modern fast ramp or aggressive cam.Shout out from CTJuniorPs. Sad a man of your experience and knowledge is a softer then spaghetti cast iron slinky flexible Rod poncho lover. Lol jk jk hahahahaAll machinist kidding aside. I love me a well built poncho but I m an Oldsmobile and a Mopar guy with a reputation for Oldsmobiles, but work on just about anything 60s-70s.

Ken did a great job.I dropped off a set of cylinder heads and he cleaned them, pressure tested them, and checked the heads to make sure they weren't warped. They were ready in no time and I got my truck back up and running quickly.

Fantastic experience! I called around after not being able to get a hold of the machine shop I've used in the past, and found Ellison online. The owner asked what I needed done, the vehicle, and a few other things to get an idea of what the job would entail. I dropped off my cylinder head and deposit, and was called the next day as promised. The owner, despite having a very busy shop, took time and spoke with me about my intentions with the car, and pointed out other "high fail" items I should consider replacing. (Which in no way was beneficial to his pocket, as i was doing the mechanical work myself.) I've been an ase certified mechanic for 25 years, and have run into very few shops/ owners, with the attention to detail and professionalism Mr Ken Ellison showed me. Highly recommend this place to anyone with machine shop needs.

Ken with Ellison's Machine is AWESOME!I typically don't leave reviews unless it's absurd or outright bad,but I had a great impression from the get-go when I spoke to Ken on the phone about my needs with my Honda B18C, and crankshaft.I had come to them, because I bought a block with rusty bores, a crummy headgasket surface and the crankshaft needed to be cleaned up.I wasn't sure how to approach the situation and I was on a very limited budget (which he kept in mind the entire time)- we discussed the route to take, and kept in communication with me the entire time.I think the big difference between me as a customer, and the other negative reviews, are that I treated him as a professional, and gave him the trust to work with me, which, is something I noticed isn't a common thread between other reviews. He kept me in the loop with what was going on, what services were required, and in the end I was extremely happy with the motor I got back from them.-Hot tanked-Honed cylinders-resurfaced deck-tanked again-polished crank-measured for bearingsSuper friendly and helping. Very professional.

I will be paying Ken a visit around July to talk about a rebuild of my 351 Cleveland with 351 boss heads on it. After watching his video of the old school 302 build , Ken's got my business.

I want to give them 0 star but they don t have it. They did my valves wrong. I aked for a responsibility but they jusy don t care. I had to pay them $600 for my head jobs and another $1000 to find and fix their problem. I would just stay from this place.
