Great customer service!! I've brought my 2013 Chevy Traverse there a couple of times over the last few years. They are always informative, helpful, and very patient. I appreciate the work they have done to get my car fixed and safe to drive. If any of my or my daughters' cars need work, I'll be headed to Hillmuth Gaithersburg. And thank you to John and Brandon for always taking care of me with all of my phone calls. Expensive; I do not recommend this shop and better take it somewhere else.Updated: 12/26/2023:To owner: I don t necessarily want to expose my contact information to the public and it is legitimate that I had my car service at your shop. That s just my opinion that the quoted price at your shop was 3 times more than others and charged me for labor that didn t inform me in advanced. I don t know what kind of conversation that I would like to discuss with you. Quoted price is quoted price, I was comparing your price with others, simple and straight forward.

The guys at Hillmuth always go above and beyond when I bring my vehicles in for any kind of service. They make me feel like I'm a VIP everytime. They always tell me the truth and never over charge for anything. Best Crew Ever.

Update: I see other are running into the same situation. The prices are ridiculous and Bill H III doesn't see the pattern or realize there is not much you can do when they have your car and you have to pay the bill.In response Bill you could find me if I hadn't paid the bill. Now that it is all said and done it seems impossible doesn't it?Worst ever experience.Never had a mechanic charge me twice MSRP for parts. Spurious practice of disassembling the car so that you cannot leave after the estimate. Never will use again.Service: Brakes

I had a great experience. Went to get a front end alignment at another automotive shop. They said I would need at least $3000 worth of work before I could get a front end alignment. Came here. It was only $800 worth of work before I could get a front end alignment. John Papuchis was awesome to work with.

AAA dropped off our car at your shop in the evening; all went well and it was fixed the next day. You always have done a great job repairing the car, and you give reasonable suggestions to keep the car running in good shape. John always is extra helpful and courteous. After traveling over 3000 miles from Oregon to visit my father in law who was ill in MD. My Roadtrek 170 had a check engine light come on. I was scouring the local listings for a mechanic when a family member told me about Hillmuths of Gaithersburg. My father in law had taken his vehicles there over the years. I called and was able to take my van in the next morning. By 2:30 pm that same day, my van was up & running! The folks at Hillmuths took such great care of both my van & I. The morning mechanic who took the van in asked questions & was amazing at searching for answers before even doing a diagnostic on the van. When I picked the van up the gentleman working the front desk & the mechanic both came out & shared the information on my vehicles repairs. I was SO impressed by the service, personal care & follow up phone calls to ensure we arrived back on the West Coast safely. Wow! I have never experienced such thorough, caring & genuine service from a mechanic & service center before. I have shared my experience multiple times with many folks across the country. Always strongly recommending Hillmuth s in Gaithersburg for any vehicle needs. Now, how can I convince you all to open a shop in Astoria, Oregon.Thank you Dan(mechanic) and everyone at Hillmuth s in Gaithersburg! Manager John and his staff completed my routine oil change/tire rotation and changed the power steering fluid. I appreciate them squeezing me in last Friday just before the Memorial Day holiday. This is an auto repair company that really cares for their customers. The General Manager, John Papuchis, at the Airpark Rd location is amazing. He makes you feel like you are his only customer. The mechanics are very professional and efficient. They don't try to sell you work that isn't necessary. I have used them 4 times and highly recommend them. John and Matt were incredibly responsive and helpful in a recent encounter. I had rims, with tires mounted, shipped from an online vendor to a Hillmuth location, where they were placed on my Dodge Ram 1500. After a short time we began to notice an unfamiliar sound from the passenger rear tire area. It sounded like something was inside the tire. I took the vehicle to the Gaithersburg, MD Hillmuth location. They discovered one of the lug nuts had backed off the lug and was rattling in the center cover of the rim. I was prepared to send the invoice to the online vendor; however, with this development we knew they were/are not at fault. Hillmuth "owned" it, checked lugs and torque on all other wheels, and ate the cost. I consider that true service and integrity.Thanks Gents

I've used Hillmuth since 2014 across 4-5 different cars. From Maryland inspections through brakes, exhaust, tires & air conditioning, etc. An appointment is always quickly available, prices much better than dealers, and generous warranty coverage (parts & labor) of repairs. These guys!I called with a request for a speedy diagnosis and repair of my Toyota Avalon. I dropped it off after work and they were happy to drive me home while they were looking at it. They called with the diagnosis and a list of problems that would need to be addressed in the future. They were so patient with me as I made the decision to not have the work done but to put that money into a newer car. I'm glad I made the right decision and I am so grateful that they helped me. Sept 28, 2022- After having our SUV fully inspected by Hillmuth which resulted in numerous preventative and safety repairs, our drive to Detroit and back, navigating through all the Pennsylvania mountains and S-Curves, was like driving a new vehicles!Hillmuth Team Lead Brandon Jenkins engaged with me in such a personal, professional and caring manner, and assured me that Maryland s finest certified auto inspector and technician would make my SUV the best it s ever been. Tech Gary Case went through the vehicle with a fine-tooth comb and completed a full mechanical restoration ..Alternator, belts, struts/shocks, brakes, fluids, alignment, etc. Plus, a guaranteed confidence and trustworthiness to the customer!Brandon developed a family-type rapport with me with timely upbeat updates, and partnering with GM John Papuchis, B assured me that Hillmuth is the best in the Auto Care business! Hillmuth is the only place that I will take my car to!My current car was given to me after my aunt unexpectedly passed away. I had taken my previous car to Hillmuth because of the incredible service and there was no hesitation to take the new one to them.When I called to schedule a maintenance overview, I spoke with John and let him know the reason how the car came into my possession. I ended breaking down and crying on the call and John was so polite and caring. Instead of rushing me off the phone, he offered his condolences and told me that everyone grieves in their own way and assured me that I had nothing to be embarrassed about.Customer service like this is what they do. They go above and beyond for their customers who they treat like family. They are honest and extremely fair with their pricing. They do not push you to get unneeded maintenance or overcharge you. Plus, they are heavily involved with their community and are always giving back!How could you not want to support a business like Hillmuth?!I cannot recommend Hillmuth enough and they are the only place where I will take my car to.

This is the second time I have used Hillmuth Certified Automotive of Gaithersburg. They took good care of my car getting the oil changed and the transmission fluid flushed and filled. The service advisor told me what was most pressing on my car and what needed to be done. I will definitely be coming back to this place for future car repair needs. Hillmuth did some repairs on my old car that had been sitting for a few years. They did a great job reviving the car. They provide quality at a reasonable price. Their team is professional and knowledgeable. Extremely trustworthy and friendly! I m a busy working mom and due to some time constraints, the assistant manager Danita personally delivered a repaired tire to our home. My husband highly recommends Hillmuth especially for those with Jeep Wranglers- the service has been outstanding. We go here for all oil changes and tire rotations/maintenance instead of the dealer! Prices are better and they make the process painless

I'd heard good things about Hillmuth so I took my car to them for what I knew would be some extensive repair work. They completed the job in less than a day, kept me informed the entire time (Danita the Assistant Manager is awesome), and never tried to upsell me or convince me I needed service or parts I knew I didn't and everyone came across as very trustworthy. I felt respected, welcomed, and listened to, the staff with whom I interacted was polite, courteous, and professional and I'll be taking my car back in the future when it needs service or repairs.

We have been bringing our vehicles to Hillmuth for over 30 years. There is not one repair service we would trust our cars with more. This a family owned business, the technicians are professional and their work is excellent every time. I think in over three decades and what must be thousands of services on our many family vehicles over they years, they've had to stand behind a repair twice. Expect quality work and great customer service from these guys - they are the best of the best!

very helpful...came in with an unusual repair for our Mercedes and they checked to see if there was a recall issued first. Work was done quickly and I'm very pleased. Unfortunately, there is not a rating of LESS THAN ZERO stars because that is what the service I received from Hillmuth Automotive deserves.I called to ask if they could fix a specific issue with my vehicle. It was a specialty item and I knew that not everyone could do it. Hillmuth said yes, they could fix it, so I brought the car in. I was not surprised the next day when I was called back to pick up the car because they could not fix it. I was surprised when I was billed $141.72. Hillmuth explained that the bill was for the evaluation of the vehicle, the evaluation stated I needed the repair I originally inquired about. They graciously deducted $49.95 so I only had to pay $91.77 for the privilege of being told what I already knew. As a result, I would NOT RECOMMEND Hillmuth Automotive unless you wish to give them money for nothing. Literally.In the end, I was able to get the car fixed at a reputable establishment where I paid a total of $150.00 for the entire job.UPDATE:After posting this review I did hear back from owner who apologized for the incident. He also refunded the balance of my payment and made every effort to rectify the situation. I was completely satisfied with the response and I consider the matter resolved.Clarifications to owner reply: I authorized a repair of the vehicle which I was assured could be done, not a diagnostic, the problem had already been diagnosed. Knowing it was a specialized job, I called in advance to to ensure the shop could do the repair. The team did not apologize, nor was I satisfied when I left. I did call and speak with a manager after the incident. I was told that someone would get back to me. I waited and waited but never heard from anyone.

The team at Hillmuth in Gaithersburg definitely has customer care as it s top priority. After having several unhappy experiences at my dealership, I began searching for a better option. That better option was Hillmuth. I ve never been disappointed. They are always responsive, look for cost effective solutions, provide service on time and when needed, provide a FREE loaner car. I drive from Gaithersburg to Reston 5-6 days a week and I trust Hillmuth to keep my car is in top running shape!

**I thought it would be appropriate to edit my review after speaking with the owner. The owner was very kind and listened to our concerns after a couple of disputes with John. The owner addressed our concerns with John and a short time later, we received an apology letter in the mail. I was not expecting that, but it was nice. The owner obviously cares about his business, therefore I felt he deserved a f/u to my review**Spoke with John briefly regarding an inspection on my car. He was rude, highly unprofessional and sounded like he was ready to fight. He was so bothered by my questions regrading my car and cut me off each time I tried to ask a question. Very demeaning. Im wondering if my husband called instead of me, the treatment would've been different. If he represents Hillmuth, then that's a problem. I would never take my car for service there if that's what their customer service is like.

My experience at Hillmuth Gaithersburg was the best I've encountered in a long time. Brandon, at the front desk, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He kept me informed on the progress of my repairs and provided a loaner car. The repairs on my engine have my vehicle driving smoothly. I plan to send all my friends and co-workers in the area to HIllmuth's.
