A co-worker of mine recommended I take my Tahoe here because I was having an issue with it. I highly recommend this shop. Wry family oriented and friendly. Pulled my vehicle in the shop, diagnosed what the issue was and had it fixed all within about an hour and a half. As this is my family's only vehicle and we have kids, they definitely helped out a great bit. Again thank you to everyone in the shop for all the help. Will definitely be bringing my vehicle back for any issues I'm the future.Well done job everyone!!

This is a great mechanic shop. They're honest about the work that is needed, how much it'll cost, and are willing to hear the customer out. I'm very pleased with each time I've taken several cars here. 100% would recommend.

Always on point- 6 years ago.Today marks a day for a new review. I've been a client for 7 years. I have brought all of my company vehicles to them for a long time. They finally loved out of frederick to a much larger shop space north of frederick along interstate 15. These guys have always done me right and been honest with me. Today was a simple wobble diagnosis with a front brake change. In the past its been anything from inspections of newly purchased vehicles to open heart surgery.When you call you are usually greeted by Carroll. She is the sweetest lady in the world. Her husband runs the shop there with his team of mechanics. Now that they have moved north, I am recommending all of my contacts who live nearby to them. These guys are amazing.

A good mechanic is hard to find. So, when Tool in Hand moved from the middle of Frederick to a few miles north of town, I followed them. Honest, and they get repairs done in a timely manner. They are indeed keepers.

I had a car maintenance and repair in Tool In Hand and I must say the staff are kind and nice. Also, the mechanic is good and I get a good quality service with my car maintenance. I highly recommend it here!

This shop is very helpful. I ended up having to go to dealer's but they still took the time to call back and forth, and gave me a detailed copy of what they did. Their prices are much better than chain shops!

I actually drive up 40 miles to get major service done with them because they are very honest and reasonably priced. That goes for the owner, Tim, and all of his mechanics.Recently, I had a rebuilt engine installed in my Jeep, and they were on top of the engine delivery and the core pickup from a local autoparts store. Even more so than I was.I can not recommend them enough! Only wish the garage was closer, but worth the drive for peace of mind.

I first went to Tool in Hand when I moved to the area and needed an oil change because of the proximity to my house and good reviews. They've since moved a 20 minute drive away and I'm happy to make the trip because the service has always been impeccable. I have an older, high-mileage car along with a brand new one and I take them both to Tool in Hand. When we had a strange issue with the older one, they tried the easiest fix first and didn't even charge me for their time. Also, once I was in the waiting room and a woman walked in with a random question about her turn signal, and the owner came out and chatted with her about the problem and gave her advice on buying the part herself so she didn't have to pay extra to have a garage order it for her. Very honest and friendly people here, highly recommend.

Excellent shop! They're the most trustworthy mechanic I've visited in the DC Metro area. I drive all the way out to Frederick because they are that good. Always quick, reliable, and transparent with their services and pricing.

I went to this business on a recommendation from a mechanic. Another shop gave me the run around. I went to Tool In Hand and they were very friendly. They figured out the problem in 10 minutes and showed me the issue! The other place wanted to keep my car all day and charge me $195. They fixed my car in an hour. They also turned up the heat in the sitting area for my grandson. I will definitely use them again.

Ever since 2007, I have not entrusted the care of my vehicle/s to any other mechanic shop, except for Tool N Hand. Unless there was an unavoidable schedule conflict.Exceptional, professional service is what you'll get, from the owners, to the shop guys in the back!!!If Google would allow it, I would give them 10 stars, hands down! Pun intended...

Another Great experience here. Dealership said car needed new brakes, came here and they said breaks are good and no need to change. It is great to find a place we can trust. Will keep coming back!

They were wonderful. I didn't realize I bought a car with so many problems. His wife that answers the phone was very professional and they were so busy and she worked me in because I had no other car to drive. He efficiently diagnosed the problems and those parts are working perfectly. I have some other problem with missing and jumping around when I drive or in idle but the check engine light isn't on so until it does, it can't be diagnosed. They will be my go to team when it does come on. I recommend them highly. Thank you.

New to MD, had to get my car inspected before heading to the MVA. They were able to take me same day, for 1/2 the price of other local establishments. The front desk agent was so kind and helpful. The detailed report shows they really go through everything! Glad I passed and would recommend to anyone in need of that service.

Top-notch professional service & care for your car! What an amazing place. Went in early this morning as I had purchased a pre-owned vehicle and was wondering if I had made a good purchase decision. As the car needed a Maryland inspection I brought it to Tool In Hand after reading all of the good reviews. Needless to say - the service was very professional and punctual and they answered all of my questions about my car - yep, it was a good decision to buy it! The cost for the inspection was also very reasonably priced. Nice!

Really impressed with the level of service and especially the price. They found two small things with my inspection and called me to explain them and offered to let me fix them myself. I know my way around a car enough and could easily see that I wasn t being jerked around. They even went above and beyond with one of the minor repairs to make my day. Would highly recommend.

I went here needing to get an inspection done ASAP--- Like within a couple hours so I could be in NC by 5pm. I googled, and they opened earliest in the area, so I was there as soon as they opened. I had my twin girls with me (1.5 years old) and they were so friendly with them and got my car to the back soon as I got there for the inspection. They gave me a list of things that needed to be done to pass, and a card for where to get a part that was needed. After going to the place they said and another auto parts store, the part needed would not have be in store until the next day, soonest. I then went to another auto parts store, who happened to know someone who worked at Tool in Hand, and he called and asked if he could temp fix it a MUCH cheaper way, for me to pass inspection, which he did, and I got the other parts needed. I brought it back and within an hour, my car was fixed, and inspection ready to go! I went straight to the DMV, got my sticker and drive to NC! They were SO fast, efficient, kind and helpful!!! AND they gave my babies some girl scout cookies, which they CRUSHED on the way to NC! LOL.... I would HIGHLY recommend them if you like honest, friendly and efficient work done!! Thank you soooo much to the entire staff! You guys are life savers!!!

Tim and his team are by far the best and most honest mechanics around. We have taken all our family vehicles to Tool in Hand and referred all family and friends. Tim has saved me thousands of dollars over the years. He provides the best quote and delivers amazing service. Truly the nicest people to deal with. I highly recommend tool in hand to anyone looking for a lifelong mechanic!!

Highly recommend this mechanic! Everyone here is friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Prices for maintenance and oil changes are cheaper than most other places you'll go, and they thoroughly complete each job.

I have been working with Tim and all for years. I am so happy to disprove that an honest mechanic is an oxymoron. These guys are trustworthy and have fantastic service and rates. Check them out but stay away from their neighboring auto store.

If your car is having a problem, Tool in Hand IS the shop to take it to! They are honest, they explain what's needed, and just FIX IT! ALL at a reasonable price. Don't bother with other repair shops, Tool in Hand has you covered!

Friendly staff from the moment I walk in the door. Trustworthy, fair and reasonable pricing. I am always treated like family and am having my elderly father's car serviced there today-wouldn't trust anyone else. Keep up the good work!
