Very nasty driver showed up 3 hrs before our appointment after calling me 10 min prior. This guy started cursing and being agressive and complaining that he doesn't have time before I told him to give me 1 minute to get there. BEWARE!!! NOT FUN TO DEAL WITH THIS TOWING COMPANY. 0 CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND PROFESSIONALISM

This tow company hires agressive drivers. The guy pulled up and was about to tow, we tried pleading and he ended up arguing. He pulled a taser out on us and threatened to use it.I am very sure of what the events are . Don't worry ,one day your drivers will get what they deserve. Seeing that they think they can intimidate women! How dare you insult me by saying I watch too much TV. So much for your professionalism!!!

They're unreliable, unprofessional, and dishonest. Had a terrible experience with them - don't make the same mistake I did!

I wish I could give 0 stars, but the guy who picked up my car was very nice, and there is no option for 0 stars. After putting a request for a tow through our insurance company, we were give a 45-90 min time window. 20 mins later, we got a call from the gentleman that he would be there soon. Great!! That was quick! After picking up my car, the guy had it taken it to a car dealership, not where I scheduled it to go. My insurance called Dereks and was told the guy was on another job, that after he was done he would pick it up and take it to the correct location. The dealership had already started work on it, which is double the price of the discount I was given from where I scheduled it go. And today, it's still at the dealership. It was never picked up by Derek's. They will be getting the dealership bill when completed, my lawyer will let them know that during office hours tomorrow!! Do better, Derek's!!Service: Car towing

Went through insurance for a pick up. Derek s sent a text saying 90 to 120 minutes. Never showed so we wasted a full day waiting. I figured they were busy so gave it a few days and then called. Lady asked for type of vehicle and I told her to which she responded there was no pick up for that. I told her pick up was supposed to be a few days ago and she said in that case it was cancelled by Derek s. She was very rude about the whole thing and when I asked how to set up a tow she just hung up on me. Don t use them, you are very likely to just sit there wasting time with no call that it was cancelled. That was my biggest issue, no call or text to let me know, nothing.Service: Car towing

The absolute worse!!!! I went thru my insurance for roadside assistance and was assigned to this place. After calling several times to verify where my truck was I find out they dropped it at the wrong location. I left instructions for the driver to contact me only to be told by Jen We don t do that . After she screams at me telling me I m not letting her talk she eventually hangs up on me.Completely unprofessional, very rude. My insurance was on the line and apologized for their behavior. Hopefully they will not use them again.Service: Car towing

I am leaving a star because someone did answer the phone once when I called so it seems they are a real company. Without getting too long winded, my insurance contracted Derek s towing to tow my vehicle. I received a 90 minute eta. 2 hours later I called and a girl who answered the phone said 20 minutes. 4 hours later, numerous calls to the office from me and my insurance provider and we get sent to voicemail. This was an extremely local job. My car was 5 miles from their lot, my destination was 4 miles further than that. I posted a review on my FB and had a friend tell me that they had two trucks parked in their lot. I m a reasonable person. If you need 5-6 hours to take a nap or eat dinner or whatever it is you do, just say that. But the 20 more min 20 more min. These bums should be out of business based on other reviews I m reading. Call 40 West Towing. Much better local company. Ended up canceling the job. I hope they lose their contract with USAA.Service: Car towing

So I live in a apartment complex with permit parking. I had worked a 12 hour shift that night and thought I had put my permit in windshield. I came out the next morning and my car was gone. I figured it was either stolen or towed. I gave Derek s a call and inquired if my vehicle had been towed. It was indeed towed and it was explained to me that the car did not have a permit displayed as required. I explained to the operator for Derek s that I thought I had displayed as required. The operator assured me I hadn t. All my gear for 2 very important training events where in the car. I told the operator I didn t have the money to get the car released and asked if I could at least get my gear needed for the training. This all transpired at or around 7am. I had to be at training at 8am. The operator said I could pick up my gear but would need to pay 200 for the car to be released. I had a co worker take me to Derek s towing so I could get my gear and get to training. Once there I let the operator know that I would pay for the car to be released in about 2 weeks since this was rent check and just didn t have the money. The operator inquired about my training. We talk and I explained I was in two different areas of public safety and the training was to keep me qualified for state standards in both areas. As I began to remove my gear the operator told me to relax for a second and ask if the permit was in the car. I checked on my seat under my work shirt and found the permit I thought I put up. He asked for my id to make sure everything was mine and told me to take the car and go to all my training and waved the fee. He told me he appreciated my service. Derek s towing didn t have to do this at all and I am indeed indebted to them. It would have been very hard on me to make all my trainings and getting a ride to them at the last minute. I offered to at least get them beer or something and he politely declined. This is a stand up company and I would recommend them to anyone. I have used them since then and they have been professional and on time both times I used them. By the way I was on time for my 8am training and was laughed at by my crewService: Car towing

I'm going to make this clear Rob is the ONLY REASON Why I'm giving this experience 3 Stars. My tire blew out on the way home and Progressive my Insurance Company Roadside Assistance assigned my vehicle Pick Up with this Company. I had to arrange a ride due to the current Pandemic and that was fine. When my ride arrived and I went to call to see when my driver would arrived whomever answered the phone was like it's going to be 90 minutes. Mind you it wouldn't let me choose to leave my car I had to wait. This incident started at 6:36 pm I had to use the bathroom. I had my service animal with me and it wasn't scheduled to arrive until 8:21 pm and was told by the dispatcher that if I didn't want to wait then I needed to call back to my Insurance Company. My tire blew out on a stretch of a road that didn't have a shoulder. 2 nice gentlemen made it possible for me to move my vehicle to a safe location. When I called Roadside Assistance back because the dispatcher was rude I was told that I would receive a text message with the new provider. Yeah, THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. Not only did Roadside Assistance get my Location where my Vehicle was they also didn't get where my vehicle was going to wrong. By this time I had made it back home to pick up my other vehicle and head back down to my truck because I never received a text. When I called back my service was put on hold it was stated that my vehicle was going to a storage unit. Then after I got nasty I was placed on hold. The re dispatched the same company that was rude to me to begin with. Now I've requested to speak to a Supervisor, NEVER GOT ONE and when i was called again from the Dispatch told them whomever answered the phone was rude. I had to verify where I was cause it was wrong and the drop off location was wrong. I was still on the phone with Roadside Assistance when Rob showed up. I had to call back to correct the drop off location even though I typed my address in because a Real Representative wasn't available because I had to submit my request through a link. My truck made it home about 10:20 pm still NO SUPERVISOR call back. I'm grateful to Rob's personality because I WAS LIVID. He was calm talkative and definitely understood my frustration. When I questioned my Roadside Assistance cause it states 30 minutes or LESS. I was told that what's advertised on their site for PRIVATE CLIENTS IS NOT THE SAME FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. Yea, I'm still trying to figure that one out. A paying customer whether it be PRIVATE or part of ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME.This experience was so STRESSFUL, THAT I GOT PHYSICALLY ILL, when I finally got back home. Had I not went back to sit with my car until assistance came, I would probably be screaming on a Rep. trying to figure out WHERE TF MY TRUCK WAS. I'm definitely going to be looking for a new insurance company cause PROGRESSIVE IS DEFINITELY SOME TRASH!THANKS ROB, MIDDLEBROOK IN DA HOUSE!Service: Special vehicle towing

Derek's was dispatched by our roadside assistance to pick up our vehicle. We spoke to their dispatch on the phone confirming the location of our keys and drop-off instructions. We received confirmation that the tow was complete and that they were paid. It was not complete. They never picked up our vehicle but were paid, then told us they had no record of our vehicle. Our insurance company confirmed that they were paid and the job said "complete. Completely unacceptable.EDIT to reply: then why did we speak to someone at your company when the dispatch went out that said they received the information?Service: Car towing

This "company" was contracted through my insurance to tow my car. They gave a 90-120 minute eta then never showed, not once but twice in the same day. I spoke with 2 people, male and female, that both confirmed I was in the system to be towed. I was told that I was the next vehicle to be towed in their system and received no updates or anything. My car broke down at 12:30 and waited till 3:30 to re-dispatch with my insurance which the company again accepted the service and after multiple call from me and my insurance my insurance found another company to tow my car at 9pm.Service: Long distance hauling

Derek's was dispatched by our insurance company (USAA) to pick up our vehicle. Once they were dispatched, we received confirmation and an ETA of 90-120 minutes. After waiting over 2 1/2 hours, I called Derek s and was told by the person who answered the phone (a male) that they have no record of my service request after which he promptly hung up the phone. I then called USAA to inform them of what I was told. I was then placed on hold while the USAA representative called Derek s to figure things out. After a short hold, the representative then informed me that he spoke with a representative of Derek s who tried to tell him that they didn t see the request for service. The USAA representative then explained to Derek s that they did in fact confirm the service request. At that point, the representative from Derek s then said they do see the request but they have now decided to decline it, and then promptly hung up on the representative. I waited almost 4 1/2 hours before another company was able to assist. This is no way to treat customers and by the looks of the other reviews I have seen, this is a regular occurrence for this company. I will be making a formal complaint through USAA. If I could have it my way, Derek s Towing would go out of business today!Service: Car towing

I called Derek s towing in a pinch to help a friend who got locked out of her car. My payment method went through and he was on his way to help us, however the road side assistance my friend called 2 hours prior arrived before the driver from Derek s could. Previously, her roadside assistance was not in contact with her and could not provide any details on when assistance would arrive. Derek was kind and refunded back the original payment with no questions asked. I commend him on his professionalism.

We blew a tire on 70 and called for a tow and tire change. A driver showed up in less than 15 minutes, was very professional, and was understanding that we had 2 dogs with us. We were on our way within an hour. This is my second experience with Derek s and both were great !

Called for a tow through my roadside assistance and Derek's Towing & Auto Repair was assigned to our case. Jesus came and quickly was able to get my car started and took the time to test the battery, listen to the alternator and try to determine why it wasn't starting before he arrived. Everything worked when he left, I've fueled up and am ready to go for the weekend. He even offered to look at it today if we ran into any further issues, which I appreciate since the dealer didn't have an opening until the middle of next week. I appreciate the calm and thorough check of my vehicle and will call if I have other issues.

Rob was very wonderful! He called to update me on his ETA, which was 30 minutes earlier than expected. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He even called me an hour after he had dropped me off at the tire store to make sure everything was done properly and that I was okay! Highly recommend using Rob if you ever need a tow.Service: Tires

I requested roadside assistance through Nationwide and 2 minutes after I submitted my claim Rob with Derek's Towing called with an estimated arrival time of 20 min... I was shocked and skeptical because it's in the middle of rush hour, sure enough 18 minutes later I had a phone call saying he was outside.. he was wearing proper face covering and gloves, quickly got my car on the truck and gave me a suggestion where to get a good used tire ( which isn't even why i needed the tow he just noticed it was extremely bald) Great customer service!!! Chances are if you need a tow your day is pretty bad, my experience with Rob made this crazy day a little easier to manage!!Service: Car towing

Called State Farm after I hit a hay bale someone dropped in the road. Guy showed up late, but he was friendly and seemed like a good guy. I gave my insurance the address of the shop I wanted it towed to and the towing company came back and said they couldn't tow it there because the shop is closed on Sunday. So they changed the tow order to tow it to the storage yard with the expectation that they'd tow it to the shop by 8am - driver even said he got in at 7am and would deliver it.Next day, 8am, no car at the shop. Called their business line 3x and got an automated message that it was an incorrect phone number. Called the number the tow company texted me on previously and got the same incorrect number error. Texted the number and someone responded that they were waiting for a second tow order! At no point was a second tow order ever mentioned by the tow company, by the driver, or by State Farm. Texted back that, if my car wasn't towed to the shop in an hour, I'd report it stolen and contact State Farm. Guy texts me the number to the police and then calls me, cursing me out for interrupting his toilet time!I'm not expecting him to go above and beyond here - just do the job he was contracted to do and get my car to the shop.Since then, he's refusing to tow my car to the shop since his phone servers are down and he's claiming he won't get paid for the tow despite getting the first tow order yesterday and the second tow order as of 9am this morning -- my insurance contacted the company directly and spoke to a woman to give them the second order.Furthermore, my shop has an after hours key drop off so there was absolutely no need to store it on his property. Completely unethical!!If you've got a choice, go with someone else.Service: Car towing

Like many of the reviews, this company was selected through my insurance for Roadside assistance. We got a text saying expect arrival within 45 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes after the ETA, I gave them a call. Derek then said the driver is headed to another job and will be headed to us, after. We were given an additional estimation of 25 - 30 minutes. His recommendation if we didn t want to wait any longer in the blazing heat was to leave my $80,000 Hellcat unlocked in the public location it was in and leave my key inside the car, classy. The flat tire would most likely be the LEAST of my worries if I complied with that genius idea. A courtesy call would of been more than appreciated and deserved rather than the disrespect I received having to micromanage. I cancelled the tow with them and was reassigned with Grace s. You may have a better experience if you re paying out of pocket, but if you are assigned this company through roadside assistance, ask to be reassigned.

EDIT: you will notice the company responded by defending their actions rather than focusing on customer service. We provided our VIN number, make model and color of the car every time we called. In fact the driver that promised they would be there within 30 minutes indicated they knew the car and last name that I was asking about. You ve seen my experience and how they handled it.Use your own judgmentI don t typically leave reviews, but I felt that I needed to share my bad experience. The company lied about trying to service my vehicle, and made me pay up front. This was a waste of three hours of my night.Needed my car towed because the battery was dead and jump starting it wasn t working. USAA got us in touch with this company. We were told we needed to pay up front and had to choose between a jump start or a tow. We asked if they could try jump starting car, and if it didn t work to tow it to the garage. We were told that we would have to put in a ticket for the jump, then if it didn t work, call back and pay for another ticket for a tow. We elected to just have it towed to not risk paying for both.We were told that the truck would be there within the hour. Shortly after that we received a text saying the drivers ETA was 0 minutes, but the truck had not arrived. I tried calling the company several times, but couldn t get in contact with anyone. Eventually got ahold of a receptionist who said that they had another job in the area that triggered their GPS to alert me that they had arrived (?!?). I was told they would call soon when they arrive.Another hour passes and a driver STILL had not arrived. I called back and seemed to have spoken to a driver who was aware of the car that needed to be towed and ensured me that he would be there within a half an hour.AN HOUR AN FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER I am tired of waiting so I call USAA to have them cancel the request and demand my money back that I was forced to pay up front. USAA then contacted the towing company who said that there were 2 tickets put in for my car, one for a jump start and another for a tow. They LIED to USAA and said they came out and attempted to jump start the vehicle and could not. They did not contact me that they were there. I never provided them keys to start the car. Luckily I have a video doorbell to prove it!This is a shady company, and I would advise you not to work with them. I m thankful I wasn t on the side of the road because I would have been waiting for THREE HOURS

Unreliable liars. Believe all the bad reviews! Will spread the word to never use this company. Through roadside assistance, we were waiting for a tow truck for 4 hours from this "business". Yes, this business will claim in other reviews that the middle man of roadside assistance is the reason for delay, but this is false. Derek's Towing strung us along saying they would be there in 30 minutes over and over until it was 4 hours later. Derek's also lied to our insurance stating they had called us and we had advised that we were leaving the keys with the vehicle for towing. FALSE. Had Derek's actually contacted us, they would have known we were waiting with the vehicle. We ended up having roadside assistance cancel with Derek's as we did not want them having any business of ours whenever they decided to show up. Instead, a towing company from further away was reliable and picked us up when promised. All with the help of roadside assistance. Proof that the "middle man" isn't the issue. Derek's Towing has no excuse for the lies that no one made them tell. Nice try.

Highly recommended!I was little, well ok lot stressed, and the driver treatment of the situation was one that you would want someone to treat a family member. I would give 10 stars if I could. I called the office to let them know they have an outstanding employee. Let me know drivers name is Rob. I know he introduced himself but in my chaotic mind couldn t recall it. This driver should give out tips to other tow drivers how treat people in time of stress. He did his job but he also took few extra minutes to reassure me things were not as bad as they seemed. Great job!! If you need any services they offer don t waste time calling around. Top notch services. Thanks again for outstanding service.

I called Derek s towing company and they were able to find me in less than 10 minutes! They changed my tire in two minutes, in the pouring rain, and did so with a smile. Very grateful for their timeliness, professionalism and willingness to help in all weather conditions!

I would give then no stars but that is not an option. This company was secured by my road side assistance from my insurance company. The ETA given was 75 minutes. After trying to call them with the number that was given and getting a voice mail box that was not set up I called the insurance company back. They had to call the company to find out what was going on. They said they had in issues with the job they were on and would pick the car up with a new ETA of 90 minutes I had already been waiting for 2 hours at this point. 40 minutes after this I found out they wanted to get the car tomorrow. The insurance company dropped them to get some other company that is competent. Would never call them for any service on my vehicle. I feel sorry for whoever the other customer was that they got "held up" on!

A tow was arranged through my insurance company for a dead vehicle in my driveway. The arrival time was promised for 75 minutes. After that time and more had passed the insurance company contractor called to see if the tow had arrived. When I replied that it had not, they contacted Derick's and were told that they had run into a problem with a previous job and would arrive in 25-30 minutes (I had not heard anything directly from Derick's). When another hour+ passed I again contacted to insurance company contractor, who again contracted Derick's. This time they were told that their truck had broken down and that they would arrive in 30 minutes. This would put them more than 2 hours past their promised time. And, again, no direct contact from Derick's. I told the insurance company to cancel the order with Derick's and to find another tow company--that I would not trust my vehicle to them. Totally unreliable and uncommunicative.

If your looking for the leader in predatory towing, look no further. The shadiest tow company in Frederick County, with the absolute rudest staff you'll ever meet. Beware they will take your care in the middle of the night and leave you wondering what happened, even if your not violating parking rules.Service: Car towingService: Car towing

My car broke down at advanced auto parts and I needed to have it towed from there to a shop. I called Dereks towing and within an hour had my car at the shop. I wasn't with my car, so Dereks towing was able to take my payment info over the phone and they even dropped the key into the night drop-off for me and wrote my info and problem on the envelope, which is going out of their way. Both men I spoke to on the phone were also extremely friendly and helpful! Thank you for such great service!
