I bought a Jeep from CarMax. I did all my looking and tire kicking online. Great selection of years, models, feature rich to base models.It was in Virginia and they shipped it up Maryland in the same day I confirmed my interest. The pics online were a great representation of the Jeep when I saw and test drove it.I came with financing so that saved me 2 hours. In the docs room, the person taking me thru the scores of pages was very efficient. I was even impressed that I left with actual MD plates.All in all, it was a positive experience.

Jay was awesome!! Told him our budget, and in the end came out with a great car with the down payment, and a monthly payment my fianc� wanted. The process was extremely easy, and pretty fast. (Yall have to understand it s tax season so be patient they re doing the best they can managing customers) will come back for my car, and my fianc� will definitely come back for her next car!!

Very easy experience! We got an online quote, made an appointment and were seen on time. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. They checked over our car and offered us the full amount of the online quote. Took about 90 minutes start to finish. We highly recommend CarMax!

Overall great experience, from start to finish. I appreciated how you could always get someone on the phone to talk to. They made the process of buy and trading a car very easy, and the option for a fast checkout by taking care of a lot of paperwork online was great.

I'm avid CarMax fan. I have gotten multiple family members to get their cars from there. I would like to say this location rectified an issue that could've been a problem. Due to miscommunication multiple things were fixed on my car that I did not authorize. I appreciate the manager on duty listening to me, reviewing the notes and validating that the work that I authorized should be the only thing I should be charged for. I will be a customer for life because of the top notch customer service that I continue to receive.

I had an amazing experience! ROB was not only very helpful he was also very informative and got me in and out in record time. Although the initial car I wanted was manual and I had to change at the last minute he was still very patient informative and helpful ! I will be returning in the future! Thanks Again ROB !

I may overuse the phrase " professional and courteous" but it is often the best way to convey a superb experience. CarMax is simply outstanding! The employees at the Ellicott City location are the epitome of professionalism and courtesy. They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They take the stress out of purchasing a vehicle. Greeted by friendly professional staff. Used QR code to get my code to sell the vehicle. Shortly thereafter we had a quote (exact dollar amount of our online quote) and quickly was seated to do paperwork and receive check by another professional friendly employee. The entire process was under an hour!

The process was average when it comes to the ease of the transaction. I feel that the person processing the transaction should have paid more attention to details as I had to go back and correct some of the paperwork the next day. On another note, while I like the make and model of the car I purchased, I am unhappy with the number of exterior scratches that they attempted to spot paint with touch up paint. To be honest, I feel the price was high given the poor condition of the exterior of the car (ie paint). In fact, I have considered returning it since I am still in the grace period.UPDATE: I m not naive to believe a used car comes without imperfections but I find something new daily. Just noticed that the plastic under the driver s seat has a hairline crack that will definitely get worse. #carmaxdobetter

I purchased a 2018 Honda Civic from CarMax in July of 2022. Everything seemed great at first, and I thought I was getting a quality car because of all of their promises of quality checks that they supposedly perform on the car before it is sold. I soon discovered by November 2022 that my car has a very difficult electrical issue that drains my battery and causes my car not to start if I don t drive it at least every 2-3 days. I drove it basically every day so I didn t catch the problem until months later. I guess their so-called thorough checks did not catch it, or they caught it and did not care.I am still dealing with this battery issue a year later and have spent thousands of dollars on diagnostics, battery replacement, and other solutions that did not end up solving the root of the problem. I am at my wits end. I just want a car that will start when I need it to, and for the price I paid for this car I think that s more than reasonable. If you want quality and honesty about the condition of your car go purchase a car elsewhere.

5 Stars for Johnny Lee - he made this process seamless. We went in and were able to test drive some cars within record time, he helped along the entire process and even responded to us on his day off!!! He really went above and beyond and didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need and such a great advocate for what we wanted.

We were selling a car for a relative through a Power of Attorney. We had the car appraised ,which was painless we realizes we didn't have the lien release. I took over a month for us to locate it. Carmax let us leave the car there till we found the release. Once found we were past the appraisal time. We went back, had the car reappraised ,exactly the same amount and finished the process. Wonderful experience, every0ne was so kind and helpful. Would quickly recommend Carmax to sell your car!

We recently bought a car at Carmax Ellicott City, MD. We were very happy with the buying experience as Pete did wonder finding a car that we were looking for. He was on top of everything to help. And we really liked the experience: he definitely deserves 5 stars or more!! However The car turned out to have some sort of engine issue as per the engine light that lighted up just two days after we bought the car. We took the car to the Carmax Service department: worst experience ever. We were lied to, very poor communication, no follow-up. We returned the car and ended our business with Carmax. We feel bad for Pete as he was amazing; but the experience after getting the car was just not what the car buying we tought should be.

The car I selected was beautiful, low mileage, arrived and inspected in a timely manner. The local sales rep (Walter) was professional, friendly and very considerate assisting with my purchase! Excellent!

Buying was relatively easy. Car was reasonably priced relative to what was around on dealer lots. However, pre-delivery cleanup of the SUV was a bit hit or miss - most of car was spotless, but the interior front window was a mess, just dirty. And I mentioned it several times, politely, but finally just gave up - short of knowing the CEO, it wasn t gonna get cleaned in my lifetime!

I visited CarMax to sell my car. I had an appt so it made the process easier. The csr was pleasant. Explained why I did not receive the original offer for my vehicle although I didn't agree because I felt like they were things that was normal like dirty carpet and some scratches on the hood of car I accepted it. The other reason a small dent that happened I understood. It was a simple process. Overall I would say check them out if you need to sell your vehicle

The salesman Jay, was wonderful,,,but the rest of the experience was not....I picked up my new Mercedes gl300-drove it home,,,that night, i went out for dinner...on the way back home, the engine light came on!!! Really?? it had to taken to the Mercedes shop, I was given a loaner...took over an hour to process that...I after a day or so, told Jay, I no longer wanted that car, and they ordered another one...took days for it to get here...I test drove it, and bought that one...only to find out that the sun roof shade had serious stains on it...no one noticed,,,not even me...that it was there until I was about to drive it off the lot...I then spent about 2 days for someone to call me back to make an appoinntment--THE TELEPHONE SYSTEM IS HORRIBLE...you just get thrown to voice answering services...I finally got it done...but this was not my best expoerience with CAR-MAX

I didn't have an appointment yet they helped me right when I walked in. Everyone was kind and friendly, and the appraisal took less time than I expected. When they showed me the offer, I cheered out loud! Other customers nearby said, "I'll have what SHE'S having" lol

Everything was fine until I encountered the finance section. Very rude and unwilling to listen. MECU no longer gives checks out. This department refused to accept this, and would NOT let me move forward. This took hours to resolve. After it was resolved, with other personnel, no attempt of an apology was offered. I will never purchase another vehicle from Carmax, Ellicott City again. Salesman Jay was exceptional. Sorry they had to ruin a good experience.

Staff was friendly and quick to help us test drive a few vehicles l. This is a smaller CarMax with less inventory than others I've visited in the Baltimore area so if you are visiting it is best to check out their website and see what they have prior to going

I took my car in for some repair work, and all they did was detail the interior of the car. I m not sure why they did that because I never asked for detailing. They never ordered the parts. They never did anything, but they said they would., However, everyone was very nice.Follow up: I have been trying to contact the service desk to set ANOTHER appointment for about 3 weeks. The never answer the phoneend it goes directly to voicemail where are you? Cannot leave a message because the mailbox is full! So each time I call them I also end up calling the Carmax operator where I am promised they will escalate my call. I m a manager will call me back which never happens. Finally today and I called. I was given a customer service number. I tried to call that number multiple times. The first two times that I called. It was a medical alert line, the third time I got an operator notice that I could not call that number from my calling area. I called back to the Carmax operator yet again and this time the operator stayed on the line and contacted customer service for me. I now finally have an appointment on December 4. I wonder if my car will be fixed!

Mr. Pete and his team were truly a blessing! My car s transmission had just went up, after overspending on rentals and taking bus trips for a few weeks I figured I d just have to finance another car for me and my little ones. Determined, I caught a Lyft to Carmax with my very energetic 18mo and what I had for my down payment. Mr. Pete was patient and made me feel very comfortable, he didn t mind my chatty little toddler and even helped me with his car seat. After just 4.5 hours we left with the exact vehicle that I reserved to see. Mr. Pete was just as determined as me, he and his team helped me get my required down payment lowered by communicating with the bank on my behalf, mind ya, I went in on Saturday evening so I m sure we were somewhat limited to less finance options. Mr. Pete made sure I understood my warranty options and even gave me advice on what to do with my other car. It s such a reassuring feeling when you know that someone cares about your outcome. I truly trust that I made the right decision coming to Carmax and I am very happy that I did. Thank you!

I actually bought and returned TWO cars to Carmax before actually buying the 3rd car - which was the winner. Carmax was excellent about my car returns and helped in every aspect of my car sale. It was effortless, efficient and I got the perfect car in the end! Thank you to James at White Marsh and Ken at Ellicott City.I bought a car from Carmax in 2018 and it lasted incredibly well and I loved my car buying experience then as well - which is why I will keep going back to Carmax.

Brought a van in March of this year and it's been in the shop 3 times already. Had to get a new battery the first time, new radiator the 2nd time, and it's currently in the shop since October the 30th waiting for a new Engine to be installed, received a text yesterday stating I need spark plugs which is not covered under my warranty.. This place sold me a bad vehicle. 2016 Chrysler town and country 74 thousand miles at time of purchase. Trust me they won't be getting over on me. I will never recommend them to anyone
