I ABSOLUTELY understand how they have almost five stars. I brought in a 1990 350SDL with a turbo that wasn't building boost. I was told $250ish for diagnosis and that's perfectly fair... People should be paid for their expertise.Turned out to basically be what I thought it was, waste gate was stuck open and an easy fix.What I didn't realize was that that diagnosis fee also included a thorough inspection of my old Benz. And I now have a list of all the things that need my attention over the next few months.100% recommend

Today was my first time visiting and the group has certainly earned my trust. I went in to have a key programmed, which they did for a fair price. (I purchased the cut key and remote unit from esaabparts.com and asked another operation to program it---but they declined and seemed offended at the notion of programming a key which they had not ordered through their own shop.) When I made the same request of Silver Star, Joseph discussed with me the reasons to be careful about ordering keys and remote units online, and even went the extra mile to visit the site I was making the purchase from in order to ensure that I would be getting what I needed. Moving on...while on my way to the appointment, the Saab lost power suddenly and I had to do some special maneuvering to get it all the way to the shop. I explained the situation to Walt and he got right on it. It took a little while, but the shop diagnosed the problem -- limp home mode -- made the repair, and fully explained what that mode meant now, and what it might mean eventually. Walt and company also took the initiative to give the Saab a courtesy check-up -- tire pressure levels, fluids and such -- and to make some recommendations about upkeep moving forward. Ultimately, I walked away with a programmed key and the Saab running nicely. The final fee was reasonable and I believe that Silver Star is dedicated to provided excellent, honest service. They've won my confidence--and future business.

Silver Star is attentive and thorough. We found them when others couldn't figure out how to fix AC in our mercedes. I wish they would work on my FORD FLEX!

I have a 2003 330xi and had them replace my front passenger side CV boot in 2018. The metal clips that hold the boot in place and keep dirt and debris out came off a few time and I had to keep taking it back to get them to secure it. After a while it was a waste of time when they we not able to get it to stay. 3.5 years later the boot is already torn and needs to be replaced. I can tell its been like this for a while based on the amount of grease and dirt around when the boot is torn. Of course they only have a 1 year warranty on their parts and labor. For an expensive repair that is common on these cars I would expect a better part to last longer.UPDATE - Joseph reach out to me and offered me the opportunity to bring it in for them to check out the problem and replace the part under warranty. When I picked up the car he took his time talking to me about the issue showing me pictures he took of the part and why it could have happened. He even took his time reading my codes because my check engine light was on. They have won me back as a customer and I appreciate their service. I also appreciate the quick turnaround time. I dropped the vehicle off and it was ready a few hours later.

Silver Star is my trusted and reliable auto service shop in Annapolis. Their expertise in German cars translates into confidence they can solve any problem on my '03 BMW 530i (E39). Joseph and Walt provide courteous and respectful customer service and Silver Star mechanics do an expert job diagnosing and repairing problems. Importantly, they work expeditiously and offer great value vs. dealership or other repair shops. I heartily recommend Silver Star for your automotive repairs.Services: Air conditioning, Oil change

Silver Star really helped me out in a pinch when I drove my Mazda in with a low tire pressure warning. Without hesitation they took my car in, removed the screw, plugged the hole, all in less than an hour for an incredibly low price. Total professionals, clean office, lovely waiting room - I was even offered a beverage. I could not have been more impressed especially since I don't have the kind of car they specialize in. A great experience if you ever need service!

5 stars for this service center!! We had a malfunctioning Xenon headlamp control unit on our 2011 BMW X3. Service Manager Joseph Hall went out of his way to get us in for diagnostics the next day. The malfunctioning part, which another service facility told us would take two weeks to acquire, was ordered and installed the very next day. We plan to have all future service on our X3 done at Silverstar, conveniently located in Edgewater!!

Finding a trustworthy and reliable mechanic is a task in itself. Silver Star was recommended by a friend, so I tried them out. I cant say enough about how I was treated. The employees, specifically Jeff and Joe were always up front with the problems I was facing and the options I had to fix them. From the beginning they treated me as if I had been a customer for years. I was provided transportation to and from the shop. I was given a rental car when the work took longer than day, and I never felt in the dark at any point during my times there. I received timely notifications in the mail about oil changes...etc. I would fully recommend anyone who is in search of a reliable mechanic to take your vehicle to Silver Star.

I bring my car there for minor things since most of my cars are under warranty. Every time the service is excellent and professional. They get back to you right away and takes care of any concerns you have. They will tell you the exact pricing which is always good to know. Their labor rate are fair and reasonable. Most of all they are very nice and really take care of your car. They even washed our car for a simple summer /winter swap of wheels/tires. Nice to see a business run so well Thanks Jeff for all your help and service

Joseph and his team deserve 5+ stars all around. This place is so underrated for what they do. They have the best customer service I have ever experienced in any shop I have been to and they provide true value for the superior service every single time. They are pretty much a one stop shop for virtually all your car needs including getting your car registration and driver's license next door. I am picky about who works on my BMWs and Joseph and his team are always available to provide me with advice when I need it. His team takes care of both of my BMWs (one of which has high-end modifications and is of sentimental value to me) and provides the utmost care (plus washes the car after each service!). This team is knowledgeable, trustworthy, conscientious and also goes above and beyond to solve a problem. Whether you talk to Joseph, Walt or any team member, they are super helpful and nice. I would also deem this shop as female friendly. I never feel disrespected or "talked down to" because I'm a female who asks questions about her cars. I would not want to take my BMWs anywhere else in the Annapolis area. I will never ever go anywhere else!!!I ve had 4 Mercedes and have been a customer for almost 20years and have moved out of state and tried other service centers that have failed miserably and silverstar came to my rescue each time with impeccable honesty and quality workmanship. Finding trustworthy car service (especially as a female) is rare and I hope Joseph trains his son to continue on with this exceptional family business

I have a 1990 Saab turbo. How do you find a place to competently work on it?How about a shop that only works on four brands with Saab being one of them.They put in many hours working on a steering problem but charged for about half of them.To boot, they then gave me their, first time customer, 10 percent discount without me asking for it.I'll go back.

The folks at Silverstar are respectful, prompt, and knowledgeable. They got my 2007 E550 quickly back on the road after replacing the front air suspension and pump when the system called it quits. I will be going to them again the next time the Benz needs servicing.

The Silver Star guys are always on point. During the last cold snap I recently had a total failure of my '03 E320 starting with dead batteries and continuing through no access to my trunk to jump start the car. Every other shop (MB included) was willing to quote battery replacement but accessing the trunk was a rabbit hole. So when I called Silver Star, Joseph gave me some DIY advice on opening the trunk. I was able to unlock my trunk and jump start my car. When the car failed again after a couple of days, I didn't hesitate to send it to Silver Star. Jeff took great care of my car and promptly called me to confirm the problem with a solution. Included with the call was a list of other issues discovered during diagnostics. My experience with several shops in the area along with the MB dealerships has led me to know that Silver Star will take care of my car with care, professionalism and in a fair manner. I have the confidence that Silver Star will always look after my needs and concerns.

Good knowledgeable service. This place is invaluable to keep BMW s and Mercedes on the road past the initial 3-4 years after purchase. This is where I d take ANY used BMW/Merc for a pre-purchase inspection. These guys know where to look, what the problems areas are, and don t try to run up a bill. Go to place.

I have been getting my E320 serviced at Silverstar for roughly 12 months now. I had a bad experience with the dealer and thought I would try somewhere new. After some research and asking around I ended up at Silverstar. I could not be happier. They are more friendly, honest and a little cheaper than the dealer. I don t think I will ever go back to Mercedes of Annapolis for service.

A very positive experience after I recently had a check engine light problem on my 2005 Saab 9-3. I contacted Joseph at Silver Star with the error code & he provided me with an estimate to resolve the problem based on their experience. Once I took the car in for service, they replaced the gas pedal which they thought was the cause of the problem, but it did not resolve the issue. After more diagnostics, replacement of the throttle valve body and correcting some wiring connection issues under the dash, the problem still remained. After putting the original parts back in, they continued to try and figure out what was causing the problem. Finally they determined that wiring/connections under the battery was the culprit & they ended up fixing them. We ended up with a reasonable compromise on the hours they expended to fix this issue and the final cost. I would highly recommend that anyone with a Saab go to Silverstar for service. This experience was a perfect example of their diligence to correct the problem, clear communication all along the process to explain in detail what was happening and especially their willingness to be reasonable when it came to presenting the final cost.

For well over 10 years, I have been taking my 1999 Mercedes CLK320A to Joe at Silver Star. A replacement of a rear wheel bearing should not cost over $1000, yet that was their quote. Obtaining another quote, I questioned their price and the owner reduced his rate to just over $700, closer to the just over $600 other quote. He also admonished me not to trust someone unfamiliar with my car, as they were very familiar with it. So with the lower price, I decided to again trust them over the other quoted price. Yet my final bill was again nearly $1000! They also charged me .8hours - a $90-labor charge, plus the bulb costs ($25.65), to replace 3 light bulbs! When does it take almost an hour to change 3 light bulbs? Only one bulb did I specify to be changed. Were these bulbs gold plated? Now, in the past, they have changed my bulbs for no labor costs! I feel betrayed; I will not be returning to them again, as I have never questioned a charge before and perhaps, knowing that I was on the watch for their fees, they should have been more cautious. I wonder how many times in the past have I been over charged...Also mileage in was 100miles under mileage out on my odometer..does that mean that they test drove my car 100miles?I also question the hours allocated to be 7.2 when they specifically told me that the job was a little over 3hours. Upon payment for this bill, the owner made no reference to a longer time spent than originally quoted. They had my car in the shop for a little over 6 hours - how to explain more hours than the car was in their garage - how to explain test driving the car for 100 miles - how to explain the loss of a more than patient, loyal customer of over a decade. I am not your average 'pull the wool over the eyes' customer and I don't like being treated like one! This time is the last time...

Phenomenal. We live in Iowa 1,100 miles away from SSSC. Bought a 2002 Saab 9-3 for my daughter in Philadelphia and drove it down to her (she is at USNA in Annapolis). Started having intermittent issues. Looked for a local, well rated shop who specialized in these types of cars. Found SSSC online and called Joseph...he put my mind at ease immediately. They handled everything and charged a fair price for the work completed. Highest possible rating and recommendation.Well done and thank you!

I have a 2003 Saab 9-5 and apparently the radio became "divorced" when I changed my battery not long ago. I called Saab and they said to connect it to the Tech II and remarry the radio, it was going to be $300 whether it worked or not...what?!So, I called Silverstar and talked to Joseph Hall on the phone. He got me in first thing on a Friday morning which was great. When I got the car there, they looked at it right away and offered coffee and a place to sit and watch television. Not long after, they let me know the job was finished and that it would only cost the amount of labor, which was really cheap: somewhere around $60.Both Joe the Dad and Joseph the son were very nice and helpful, the mechanic also pointed out some concerns he had seen as well when he did the courtesy inspection. They even offered to wash the car but I declined. I will without a doubt take my Saab back to Silverstar for my next service need.

The experience I had at SilverStar was pretty good. The labor costs came out to almost $400 less than the price I was quoted at a nearby Saab Dealer in Cockeysville. Plus Joseph Hall and the Owner of the place provide excellent customer service. They all are very friendly, and Joseph seems to be a very honest person.There was one thing I needed to get repaired that would have cost more to get done there than at Mr. Tire, but that is because Mr. Tire is a huge company and they let me buy the part and bring it to them to get it fixed. That being said, the Warranty they give you at SilverStar on repairs is better.So all in all, they are a great company in my book. Excellent customer service, Excellent workmanship, Very competetive prices. And no, I do not work for them and they did not pay me to write this, lol. I just want to show my appreciation for the good work that they did on my Saab :-)

Great guys, Know everything about your car, personalized service with rides when you need them. I got an accident they drove over to make sure I was OK give me a ride and arrange for my car to be repaired. As we speak they are overseeing the repair of my windshield at no cost because they want to make sure it s done right.
