Rising Sun Motors has been my saving grace! After having my 70k mileage evaluation at my dealership I was handed an estimate totaling over $4400 for a bunch of "needed/recommended" services. I immediately reached out to Jeff and he quickly scheduled an appointment for my vehicle. After the team assessed my vehicle, they determined that none of the "needed or recommend" services were necessary. Jeff could have easily sold me parts that I didn't need but he didn't. I truly appreciate Jeff/the Rising Sun Motors team's honesty and I will continue to have my car serviced with them and recommend their business to everyone I know. PLEASE READ THIS WARNING - DO NOT GO TO RISING SUN'S SHOP FOR A MARYLAND SAFETY INSPECTION!!! I don't often spend the time for a review like this but somebody has to say something about this car shop. I went here for a Maryland Safety Inspection and got completely scammed by them saying TONS of false repairs were needed on my car. It was pretty much the most whack visit to a car shop I have ever had. Was told to drop my car off at 8am and that the safety inspection would take a few hours. The tech (Nick) said it would be done by 12pm for sure. Came back in at 12:30pm and the inspection wasn't even started yet. I waited for 5 full hours in the waiting lobby at the shop for them to finish the inspection. 5 hours. The entire time Nick is telling me I'm next in line and they are about to inspect it. At 5:30pm I'm told it failed the safety inspection spectacularly (on a car that is in relatively good condition and has been extensively maintained). Initially quoted $3,100 (just wait it gets worse) to fix a 17 year old Subaru (that was only worth $5,000) so it can meet Maryland Vehicle Safety inspection requirements. Was told I need an entire new steering rack and pinion, new rear brake pad AND rotors, new alignment (even though I just had my car aligned), an ENTIRE new muffler because there is a rust hole, and multiple lights. I specifically asked if all of this was worth it to fix on a car that's only worth about $5000 total and the tech at the front (Nick) said absolutely, for sure. I then called back the next day to ask more about failed other portions of the test that seemingly had very odd failure modes, specifically the fuel system failing the inspection for a "gas smell" near the gas tank and an engine oil leak failing the exhaust system. Then Nick told me it needs to be inspected AGAIN because they need to know what to fix on the gas tank and the oil leak - but the car JUST got inspected? How do you do a full safety inspection, give me a quote to tell me EVERYTHING that needs to be fixed to pass, then claim the very next day that I actually need MORE extremely expensive work to pass and ask for ANOTHER inspection (after already giving me an INSANE quote to start with and literally just inspecting it and charging me more than $100 to inspect it). The shop is now saying I potentially need a brand new gas tank because of the gas smell in the fuel area and likely will need engine work because of the oil leak?? Of course I got a second opinion; I took it to another verified inspection shop nearby for the exact same Maryland Safety Inspection and the second shop said almost all of the things rising sun said were problematic were actually not. Let me summarize: this shop is taking advantage of the Maryland Safety Inspection to strongarm/scam customers into repairs they don't actually need by purposely failing them on the inspection and then leveraging the failed inspection to charge thousands in unneeded repairs. I can not iterate this enough: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP. THEY ARE NOT HONEST! I am pretty sure a ton of the reviews on this car shop are boosted/fake (way too many one sentence 5 star reviews with weird spelling errors), or at least are reviews from a time with different management. Whoever is running the show here now has turned this place into a circus. Don't make the same mistake I did; avoid taking your car here at all costs.

First time coming to Rising Sun Motors, I needed Marland State Inspections for both of my vehicles, They provide great service, have a great way to provide you with estimates and approvals for your vehicle. They won me over with their great customer service. Will being using for all my car needs going forward.

Rising Sun Where to start:I stumbled across them about 3 years ago and been a client ever since. Moved over one and a half hours away and the trip is still worth it. From topTo bottom, 1 convenient drop off and pick up, 2 honest, competent, fair prices, great customer service, and i like the people there. They are then AMAZON of mechanics. Simply the best!

Was recommended Rising Sun by a friend after taking my vehicles to other local shops with mixed experiences. Big fan, they had clear communication which is huge for someone who is often intimidated by car stuff generally. All things considered they moved swiftly and their waiting area is surprisingly comfortable if you have to stay there. Would recommend to others looking for a shop.

I take my car to dealerships since I had negative experiences with the auto repair shops in the past. Despite the overwhelmingly positive reviews I was a bit nervous when I brought my car to Rising Sun Motors. I am really glad I did. They gave me an estimate and I ended up paying less than that, which is an indicator of their honesty. I also had a follow-up with a minor issue and they didn't charge me for it. They are very communicative via phone and email and they provide you with a detailed report of what's wrong. I will be coming back.

Been here twice and each time it turned out to be a relatively simple, minor issue. They could have lied and tried to sell me all sorts of unnecessary work, but they didn't and I appreciate that. They're also very responsive and easy to communicate with.

My experiences at Rising Sun have all been more than positive, exceptional really. I appreciate their convenience to Greenbelt Metro station (1.4 miles; 20-25 minutes walk) and easy check-in process with Jeff as well as after-hours check-out (lock box to access my key). Their estimates are sent by emailed link, and I can select which repairs to do and pay online. I like that they are not a dealer, not cheap but mid priced yet fully capable. Jeff (or whomever is on duty) texts me with questions about my car problem and answers. Finally, they kindly hand out coupons for discounts on my next visit. I highly recommend their first class service.

Recently have had my vehicle with rising sun motors in for engine light 4 times in two weeks and each time they claimed they fixed it, but never explained to my dad what they did to fix it and my dad would pick it up and the first two times they asked him to pay cash for diagnosing it, which he didn't have. He wanted to pay with credit card and they told him to take the vehicle at no charge, which was odd and didn't give us a receipt. My vehicle went back 4 times for check engine light on, no charge last two times and no explanation or receipt to show what they did. My dad has been a long time customer of rising sun, but the new owners do not operate same as the old owners and Jeff is no longer there. This place and new management is a joke!! I have no receipt for any of the four times my vehicle was there and asking for cash and not wanting to take a credit card is a big red flag. Avoid this place at all costs! My engine light is on again. I will never return!!!!!!

Recently discovered this shop which is in very good location, i was able to get my brakes and tune up done at half of the cost of a shop down the street. The warranty they provided me was great also made me feel very secure about my investment. Will be coming back for more service in the future.

I had my car's headlight bulb replaced here. Additionally, I had a tire with a leak, and Jeff informed me that it couldn't be repaired due to the leak being on the side of the tire. He also advised against a temporary fix anyway, noting that the tire would soon need replacing. They weren't pushy about any service! He was upfront about repair costs estimate and maintained a pleasant attitude throughout!

I can't say enough good things about this place. I have been dealing with a shop for almost a year before I brought my car to Rising Sun. Coming from that shop who overcharged, took WAY too long to do even simple jobs and were dishonest, bringing my Mazda to Rising sun was a breath of fresh air. I trusted my FD RX-7 with Jeff and the guys over at Rising Sun and I haven't been disappointed. I would you say, if you have a higher end Japanese sports car, definitely consider Rising Sun. I think it's safe to say this place does not get enough love!

I had a light come on my dashboard and they were willing to take it right away. I had a minor issue with a valve and was able to get my car back the very next day. A great thing about this place is that they do after hours drop off/pickup which was really great to work around my schedule. On top of this, they were all really great and didn't talk to me like I was dumb because I am a teenage girl. Overall 10/10 recommend and will definitely come back if I need to in the future.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Vehicle safety inspection

This is a really nice and friendly auto shop that gets the job done. I lived near here for years and saw they had a great number if customers, so i knew they were good, but recently came here for my Maryland inspection. They offered me advice on taking care of my vehicle and allowed me to see what they were doing. This is also one of the cleanest shops I've ever seen, with a nice waiting area, wifi, and interesting decor. I will definitely be returning.

I received excellent service from Rising Sun Motors. They refurbished the covers over the car headlights. Instead of looking milky they are clear now, almost look brand new. Hopefully most of you reading this already know that Rising Sun is absolutely the best in our area. When I first met RS some 20 years ago, no one has touched a car of mine since. Two special occasions let me know who I was dealing with. As the relationship grew I was driving a Mazda RX8 and the clutch assembly went out to the tune of $2300 +. I didn t have it at that time would have been a week, they fixed and trusted me to pay them the next week. Who does that in the auto repair business. Most recently my engine seized up and I had my car taken to RS to be estimated and fixed. Well you know it was quite expensive. So Jeff gives me a call and suggested I check with KIA motors first to see what they had going on in that situation. Well KIA is replacing my engine and covering the cost of a rental car. So you ask yourself who would pass up that opportunity to get paid. RS would!!! To Jeff and the guys including Mike who retired trying to have a life ( I miss him) thank you for your skills and more importantly your dedication and honesty so rare in the auto service industry.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Brakes, Brake service & repair, Auto maintenance

Rising Sun Motors has serviced our cars for over 30 years, including a Toyota Tercel and two Subaru Outbacks. They are prompt, professional and have always done a great job, from standard oil changes and routine maintenance to more extensive engine and transmission repairs.

They are working on a pretty old car of mine a1999 Ford van. I've never felt like I was being taken advantage of, and their transparency about services needed is refreshing.
